If you love beef ribs and don't want to drive all the way to SD, then this is the place for you. It's a fairly good and cheaper alternative to the SD famous rib place. We ordered 2 of the #1 combo which included 4 beef ribs, rice and choice of mac salad or green salad. We opted for the mac salad. The beef ribs were very flavorful and fall off the bone. Love the sweet marinate. The mac salad was good too. The rice was a bit too mushy for me. It also came with teriyaki sauce. We devoured both meals except for some mac salad and rice leftovers. It was so good I decided to take another combo #1 togo. After dinner, we also ordered a dole float for dessert. it was pineapple dole whip with pineapple and guava juice. Not a big deal but a heads up to allocate extra time if you're picking up during peak times. #1 Beef Rib "Sam's Plate" ($13.25): About five charred teriyaki beef ribs served with two scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad (or green salad). I was initially taken back since the mac salad included potatoes (first time I've seen this) but I do actually enjoy it. There were about 2 beef ribs that contained mostly fat but the others were delicious! So flavorful and tender. #3 Teriyaki Chicken ($12): Personally not a huge fan of the teriyaki chicken here. Got a reminder and everything the night before. Card was charged. We show up at the designated time to find a "Closed Early" sign!! Calls went unanswered. Ended up calling the Anaheim location and was told that Fullerton had closed at 12pm. 12pm!! I get that things happen but there was zero communication. No one cancelled our order or called to let us know that they couldn't fulfill our order. We had to find out by driving 30 minutes out to see a hastily scrawled message on the door. I discovered the original location looking for beef rib joints near my work. I was delighted to find out that they opened a branch right next to my chiropractor. This place just smells do good whenever I walk through the doors. The nice sweet glaze finished off on the grill is just delightful. Less than $15 including tax gets you 4-6 beef ribs depending on size and I always add the upcharge to have 1 salad, 1 mac salad, 1 rice. I forget the original combination but I like my variety. I typically call it in and wait just a few minutes as they finish preparing it go park in the shade to eat it fresh. I'm in heaven everytime. If I'm comparing the two locations I will say the Mac salad has potatoed here and I don't recall the OG location doing that. The sides are more generous at fullerton while OG ribs seem to be more meaty. The custom sides upcharge is also cheaper at fullerton coming in at $.50 where I've gotten charged $1.50 at the OG location. Sometimes you get pieces that are mostly fat but it's a gamble I'm willing to take for this consistent pricing. Many places have increased pricing drastically during covid. I've been wanting to try Matiki for some time now, especially after seeing pictures of their huge beef ribs. My housemate and I placed a Doordash order for the beef ribs plate and kalbi plate. One thing to note is that on Doordash, I'm not allowed to choose rice + side for the beef ribs and only the green salad. My friend ended up getting double mac salad so we can share. The beef ribs are so damn good. Super juicy and fall off the bone with an amazing smoky flavor. The kalbi was also really good and tender as well, but definitely the star of the show were the beef ribs. I love that they give you a side of their sauce - I think it's like a teriyaki sauce but not as thick. I really enjoyed their mac salad as well. Not as mayo heavy as other places and they load it with black pepper. They also add potatoes and I thought it was a good combo to give it more texture. While driving down Harbor in Fullerton, decided to stop by and try Matiki. I Do Not recommend it! The cashier clearly didn't want to be working, she didn't even crack a smile. The cook had the same expression on his face. Feeling unwelcome has got to be one of the worst feelings at a restaurant. At any rate, my husband decided to order the mini chicken/beef plate which is served with 2 scoops of rice. It was $14, which I thought was a little expensive for a mini plate. When our order was ready, our mini plate was missing the beef. We told the cashier and she notified the cook. They took the plate back and when we got our new plate, it was still missing the beef. At this point we just wanted our money back, but another lady intervened, because she was polite and said she would take care of it, we accepted. The chicken is dry.
