Went here for a quiet solo breakfast and was greeted by super friendly staff that made me feel welcomed from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. We came on Sunday, 6/9 around 9:30am. The food was absolutely amazing, big portions and delicious. But the point of this review is not even about the food. I have been a restaurant manager for the last 15 years and I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart that this restaurant runs like a well-oiled machine and the service and the hospitality is the best one I have ever seen. Every restaurant manager should visit here at least once to witness the amazing atmosphere in this restaurant, fine dining included. From management, to all the servers, you can tell that this restaurant is operating under one common goal, which is to create an amazing experience for the guests. Now, there are two types of restaurant workers from my experience. You are either reactive or proactive. Everybody that works here is proactive, almost to the point that they are mind readers. There were no frowny faces at all and everyone seemed genuinely happy to be working there, which is really hard to come by during our current climate. They bring stuff that you need, even before you ask for them, which shows that the staff is constantly scanning all the tables. Our server, a middle aged bald gentleman in Dodgers shirt and glasses was absolutely amazing. There was also a lady with glasses that came to check on us constantly, even though our table was probably not hers. I also witnessed couple of young girls, which I am assuming were owners' daughters because they looked too young to be working in a restaurant. The fact that young girls are working in their parents' restaurants during the weekend, shows that they're good kids and were raised well. With good food and amazing hospitality, I can 100% guarantee that they have the recipe for success and will never go out of business in this tough age of running a restaurant. After a medical procedure where I had to fast, I decided to treat myself to a place I had been wanting to try and decided on Maxine's, and it didn't disappoint. It is homey, quaint and comfortable. I went mid morning on a weekday, so there was few customers but yet active. I didn't wait long for the omelette I ordered which was very good. The fruit that came with it tasted fresh and flavorful I ended up taking what I couldn't eat home as I didn't want to leave it. I'm a coffee lover and the coffee was wonderful, even better than at some high end restaurants. Tate took care of me, he was very attentive and kind. The staff was jovial and appeared to enjoy being there with each other. Overall, it was a positive food and staff experience and I look forward to returning. read more

Was so excited to eat here! Yet was extremely disappointed by the staff. There are a bucket full of coloring books and we decided we would wanna color and catch up with each other. Yet the staff decided we were acting like children and didn't wanna "babysit us" their words and took back the coloring book and etc. Gave us attitude for no reason and the coloring books were strictly for children (which if there was a sign we would've obliged). Then decided to be more rude by saying we were "dicks" and then wanting an apology? I'm confused if you want us to act like children or adults here? We left and decided not too eat here if we are going to be treated this way. You ruined the atmosphere very fast. Horrible way to live life by putting others down wanting to just color in your establishment which you have out for them to do in the first place. read more

This was a great meal, not sure what I expected but was certainly surprised at how good the sandwich was. The service was exceptional without overbearing. The ambiance was pleasant and clean. I am so happy this place reopened and I love the changes. The staff is so kind and friendly. It's a perfect place to come w my kids and the food is delicious. The Venice decor on the inside also make it really fun and it's such a warm and cozy neighborhood vibe. So many people know each other and stop in to say hi. In addition to the yummy breakfast choices they have a super cute neon sign, chandelier, skateboards and a really cute outside area w pretty potted flowers and plants.
