We have been to several Mellow Mushrooms and this one by far did not stand up to the quality of food that we are use. We went during lunch time and there was hardly anyone in there, so I guess that should have been a red flag. So being that they were not busy it still took around 25 minutes to get a small pepperoni pizza, a small Caesars salad, that looked like it came from the bottom of the bag that it came in, and half of a chicken hoagie. My husband said a Digiorno pizza has more quality than the one he got. I understand kitchens are short staffed but there were at least 3 waitresses and maybe a couple of cooks. There was only my husband and I and 2 tables with a few people outside The only thing nice about it was the waitress and the ice water. Also we had to fight off a couple of gnats the whole time. Not only does Mellow Mushroom have some of the best pizza around but it is one of the most entertaining restaurants to visit. It has some of the most interesting decor & the friendliest employees. I have been here so many times I can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet. We are always greeted promptly & seated within minutes. I don't ever remember having to wait for a table & they always are busy when we arrive. The service is incredible & I have never had a bad experience. All of the employees are cheery & helpful. We especially love one of the managers, Suzy, whenever she's there she comes by our table & sits to chat with us. She doesn't know us personally, just from us being regulars & seriously we are not that regular. So maybe she doesn't remember us but she makes you feel like you're an old friend. The bartenders really know there stuff here & always make incredible suggestions. I recently sampled the Left Hand Brewery Milk Stout & it was amazing. One of the silliest beers I've ever tried. My husband says there margaritas are one of the best in town. As the for the pizza, what can I say? It's amazing! That pretzel crust is to die for & the crazy combinations are awesome. Our favorites are the Maui Wowie, Loaded Baked Potato & the Funky Q Chicken. If your looking to dine in a laid back, fun atmosphere this is the place for you. read more

We all have our fave pizza joint, and Mellow Mushroom has always been one of my favorites! This was my first visit to the Sanford location and I really enjoyed it better than some of the other locations I've been to. This location had a more "homey" feel and definitely a local hangout. Our waitress and staff were awesome too. We brought two 4 month old twins and the manager offered to rock the stroller for us so we could eat. The craft beer selection was great, but ask for the paper menu that has all the options and descriptions because the laminated version only has a few of the typical beers listed. I liked the blueberry lemonade shandy for $6. Happy hour is 4-7pm and every night is a different special. There was plenty of tables including a full bar area and a big parking lot. The "small" Greek salad was actually quite big and loads of toppings! The Kosmic Karma pizza was so yummy! The crust was amazing, wheat I think. It had a tomato base sauce, feta cheese, mozzarella, Roma tomatoes, and sundried tomatoes with a pesto drizzle on top. Sometimes pesto can make a pizza oily, but not this one. I absolutely love Mellow Mushroom crusts. This is one of my favorite places to go for an eat in pizza without a delivery pizza feel. They have authentic pies with so many options to choose from. They also have amazing chicken wings. I used a yelp check in coupon which gave us free pretzel bites with a pizza purchase, so that was a win in my book. The service is always great here and the pizza is always cooked to order so any modifications you could possibly want (within reason) is available. So Mellow Mushroom is like the the funnest (I know it's not a word) place! Went here for a girls night on a Friday and loved it! The atmosphere is very hipster-ish. It was a little crowded but we didn't wait too long for a party of 6. We had the coolest server ever! His name was Michael and he was the best. This place is very chill, they play great music from all genres and we really had a great time. The cooks are singing and dancing while making your pizza and you can tell it's a fun place to work. We had the pretzel bites and two medium pizzas. Vegans come one come all! They have vegan cheese and a tons of vegetable toppings plus tofu and tempah! The food is freshly made to order so it takes a little to make but comes out fresh and piping hot. This place has 5 star customer service. Our server... This is my favorite pizza hands down . The last few times we have ordered take out from this location though they take forever. We waited an hour for three small pizzas and they were ordered at 4:15pm (not dinner rush). When we got there we also noticed that all their take out spots were filled no doubt with customers that were waiting for their pizza just like we were. The pizza was delicious, but the manager is more focused on to-go orders, so any front facing customer will be forced to wait 1.5+ hours for their pizza which results in upset patrons that the servers and bartenders have to deal with. There were over 9 cooks in the kitchen, so there is zero excuse for slow food. I asked to speak with said manager and he was "too busy" to come out and speak with me. A little more hip than the others, this MM is a good spot for some afternoon pie. I got the gluten free pie (as usual), and a friend got the Maui Wowie. Both were great and the service was good, albeit on the odd side. I'm pretty positive I got a/the "post-smoke-break server" similar to another reviewer. It definitely took me aback, and I had to keep the table convos short because it was slightly offensive. They were very talkative which was nice, but it was on the verge of killing my appetite. My wife and I came in for dinner at 4:30. Nice waiter took our order which comprised of an appetizer and small pizza. Appetizer came out promptly was hot and delicious. Then the wait began. An hour later we were fed up with waiting and after talking to the manager who had stated that our pizza was in the oven and that they only had one pizza maker, and he was busy making to go orders. She also stated she had already comped our meal and urged to sit and eat or take it with us. Sorry to little to late. Now I've worked at quite a few restaurants and I've never worked in one where the manager didn't know how to do every job in the place. Went to the Mellow Mushroom in Sanford for my daughters birthday with the entire family and was extremely disappointed. The restaurant was freezing for everyone especially for my mother who is 80+ and had a coat was cold. The waiter said they need to keep it cold to offset the ovens. Seems strange as I have been to many restaurants that have ovens that aren't freezing. Next we ordered food and it seemed like he wasn't very helpful. I ordered some mild wings (on the menu) and he stated they don't do mild wings. So I asked for BBQ. After a while the my food came, but not as a meal but as an appetizer. Nobody else had their dinner. I didn't order anything else so not sure why that was done. The wings were drenched in BBQ sauce. They didn't seem like they had been cooked that way but sauce was added after the fact. They were terrible. Next, about 10 minutes later, other people's food started to come out, but not at the same time. One dish would come and then 3 to 5 minutes later another. The other food was a mix of greasy, over cooked food. Though my mother did enjoy her pizza. When the bill came I talked to the server on how bad my food was and he stated that he hadn't brought it out, but he wouldn't have served it that way if he had seen it. I paid the bill and left as it was my daughters birthday and I didn't want to make a scene. Very disappointed since I had heard good things about the restaurant. Melllllllllllllllow mushROOM! To start, the atmosphere rocks. The art installations are really cool. The TV presence is great for a game but not crazy like the ale house. Music is great. Not crazy loud. Trippy lights everywhere. The staff is awesome too. Nobody seemed new and it was OPENING NIGHT! Everyone was ridiculously friendly and there wasn't a sense of craziness or uncertainty. The owner, Ron, came over and was very friendly. He seems like there's a lot of great things in the work for this place. Looking forward to the specials down the road. The drinks are fantastic. Beer prices are way below normal. $3.95 jai alai doesn't happen many places. Huge variety and you can get many by the pitcher. Should be a great late night spot in an area that shuts its doors pretty early. The food was way above par. Spinach dip was the best I've ever had off the munchie menu. We split our pizza in half and had the Maui wowi as well as the tye dye. Both were delicious. Tye dye was sweet and was perfect with a little spice on the Maui wowi. We are currently waiting on a giant cookie fresh from the oven. There's also dives during the lunch rush. Cool place to have a drink on the patio, watch the game or have a great dinner. We had a groupon coupon and had 2 large Pizzas and a full order of mild wings. The pizza was pretty good. Everyone at the table loved the Mushroom Pizzas. DO NOT order their wings! They're skimpy and small, over-cooked, slightly burned and were cold. We sent them back and it seems they may have given us the same wings heated. They tasted dried up inside and we didn't enjoy them at all. The servers are terrific. They did so much even though it was busy when we arrived and they continued the same great service after the restaurant emptied out a little, too. Our groupon was for more than the check so they gave us cookies. The cookies weren't very good. National chain of pizza joints. I've eaten in the one in Savanah, Ga., and enjoyed it 5 or 6 times over the years. This was my first time locally, and al in all it was very good. The mushroom soup was fantastic. All 6 of us loved it - thick, creamy, full of mushrooms and cheese (?). Pizza was fresh ingredients, best crust ever, and full of meat and cheese. We loved it. One of our group had a bad experience. Pizza was served cold, then reheated until it was burned black. Not good! But management replaced it, and all was well. Consistently good pizza and the beer menu always has something that I like plus it changes frequently. The owner is great and you can tell that he cares if you are having a good experience. I don't get the same warm fuzzies with the other managers but they do a good job overall. I've tried most of the pizza's on the menu as well as the calzones and there is something there for everyone. They also do really well for my veggie and vegan friends. Don't forget that they have burgers now too for those who might not want a delicious pie. Outdoor seating is dog friendly and the servers LOVE dogs! Huge plus for the wife and I went we want to go out and take the doggo with us. Bold flavor combinations. I live in Charlotte and haven't had mellow mushroom in its home, but this store makes great food. I am not a big fan of mushrooms but our Uber driver (also a chef) said their mushroom soup was amazing so I had to try it and it did not disappoint! Wings were also great!
