My friend and I went into metro with a full on heater. We had been to Bourbon and Bacon at Coco earlier. Probably slammed 10 bourbons in the last hour. He advised me NOT to get the large and not too get the bacon cheesesteak. I ordered a large bacon with tots. We proceeded to Molotov's to enjoy our delicious cheesesteaks with some tasty beverages. It was there that we got around to discussing some of the more important topics of today's political landscape... Osama Bin Laden's sea burial and the virtues of the wallet vs the money clip. As it turns out, we were not in agreement. The night ended with my good ol friend standing up and yelling at top volume "FUCK YOU"! I woke up, fully clothed laying on my couch, even my shoes and jacket, still on. The lights were on, the TV was on and I had the most boomin hangover one could imagine. Sure, they have a good atmosphere, fast service, and cool murals of San Francisco on the walls. But the reason I like this place is that it reminds me of my favorite Philadelphia cheesesteak joint - a crummy little run-down pizzaria with the best authentic cheesesteaks I've ever tasted! Really good cheesesteaks actually. Their burgers are simple and delicious as well as their other sandwiches. They have some pretty gutbusting sides, like tater tots with cheese (they probably use Velveeta so beware!), and jalapeno poppers for the courageous. Also, the prices are decent, it's not overpriced and better than Burgermeister (which is expensive). They have a lot of veggie and vegan options in terms of burgers which is nice as well. The turkey burger was pretty good- it tasted like chicken ;-) The onion rings were super crispy-and sweet piping hot onion inside...I think its fresh beer batter too...something about that malty taste ... I've reviewed cheese steaks before. In fact I have eaten more than a few. Lets say its different than Italian Delites cheese steak in Novato but that doesn't mean its not good! In Fact it it is good, but wait there's more. Tater tots, yeah so maybe you grew out of them after you stopped eating at the elementary school cafeteria, or maybe you ate them in College. I understand that maybe a new paragraph would have have been nice in this review, but like my stomach after eating here there just wasn't any space left, and I didn't even get the large size. Then I ask if they could take a 100 cause I don't have any smaller bills, they then say no. This is a local in-neighborhood stop for me. Very small place with only a few tables inside and even less outside if you decide to dine-in. I've eaten inside, but prefer take-out as it can get pretty crowded if business picks up. Staff has never been anything but friendly to me. I frequently see the owner and the same guys manning down the grill. What it comes down to for this place is the cheese-steak. They make pretty standard burger/fries/appetizers but the cheese-steak is what stands out the most. Nice soft bread, a nice portion of seasoned beef and cheese. They make several different styles all with onion (house-and sweet/hot peppers, mushroom, bacon, etc.) A large is actually two regulars, for the price of 1 1/2. When I'm feeling extra weak I will succumb to some chili-cheese tater-tots. Never wait more than 10 minutes, and always freshly made. No complaints. Reminds me of the East Coast. read more
