Don't get me wrong the food is great and so are the drinks which is the important part here. Apart from the fish being a bit dry and not having much to it, the burrito and the molcajete were very well prepared and season. The presentation was very authentic and arrange nicely. Same with the establishment decorations. However unfortunately the service wasn't the best overall in terms of attention to the client. Which is funny since the place was a bit dead at the time we went (no it wasn't close to closing time lol ) but there was bit of lack of attention to our table and at times unable to locate them when needing something. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Just left this place after being there for an hour and a half and never got any food. The service is terrible. We were waiting for an outside seat for 6. The bartender was okay. We spent at least $250 in total. Finally the out side seat was ready. We asked the waitress 3 times for small plates. She made us wait 20 minutes to get us some plates. It was very obvious that she didn't want to help us. We watched her check on other Table of 2, watched her rearrange tables and still didn't get our plates. I feel like this was racial. I will never go to this establishment again. I have been here before several times and never got such terrible service. So after being seated and receiving terrible service from the waitress who wouldn't give her name, and the other waitress that we complained to wouldn't give us her name either and she said she didn't know the name of Owner. IF YOUR A PRETTY GIRL RUN...They will spill a drink on you! Service was bad, our waitresses had the worse attitude when taking our order. It seemed like she was in a rush for something, there wasn't a lot of families around the time we were there so I was a bit uneasy. The second waitress that brought our drinks spilled my soda the cup fell out her hand and I got covered in soda unfortunately. She was wearing gloves and right when I noticed them the cup fell, she was nice proceeded to say its not okay and handed me rags to wipe myself down. But didn't offer to move us inside or at least dock the drinks from our check. I felt a bit embarrassed I didn't really know what to do since this has never happened. We stayed to have our dinner, we had ordered kid meals so they came with ice cream. We weren't ready to leave but when the other waitress came to drop our check she brought out the kid ice cream in containers to go and said no rush whenever your ready. READ IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES: I am allergic to seafood. I called the restaurant and asked if there's cross contamination with seafood. They said they could cook my food in a separate pan. When we got there, our waiter brought over the manager to talk to me, and she said they could not cook my food in a separate pan... this was not consistent with what was mentioned on the phone to me. I ordered a carne asada burrito and the waiter was very attentive to my food allergies. But when I ate the burrito, I got a moderate allergic reaction and I started to swell up. Definitely will not come back here as I do not want to get a serious allergic reaction. Maybe the chefs are not aware of food allergies and cross contamination and were not careful enough. I did not appreciate how on the phone, they said they could cook in a separate pan (which other restaurants kindly do for me since I have severe food allergies). But then they said they don't have separate pans when we got there. I think they need to be more attentive and aware of food allergies, they are very serious and could lead to death for some people. Food: 2/10. The food did not taste that good, size was big for the burrito though Price: 1/10. Way overpriced for the flavor/quality of the burrito. Very disappointed. I went to this place today with my parents, aunt and cousins. It was such a nice time. It had been a few years since I had been here and it was just as good as I remembered it. The place is small inside and has a casual feel to it. You do get delicious complementary chips and salsa. We all enjoyed our food orders and the portions were generous. We did also order appetizers, a guacamole appetizer and a chorizo fondue appetizer. Both appetizers were good but OMG the fondue was super good. There was a party of two seating next to us and they had something I think called "Mocajete" it looked amazing. That would be great for sharing. They mentioned it was delicious. The waitress was nice and friendly. She checked on us often. The service was good. We arrived there around 2::15pm and only waited for 10 minutes for a table. I have passed this place multiple times but have never ordered from here until now. Three of us ordered the big big burrito and let me tell you that they are big. They fit the entire rectangle storage container and some for typical to go orders. We got carnitas, chicken, and shredded chicken. They were all very good. None of us were able to finish our burritos. Also ordered the nachos and tostada salad which were also good. There's a handful of Mexican food options within the Union City area, but the reason I chose Mexico Tipico is because the food they serve is really authentic! You can taste the flavors within the first bite, which lasts until the last crumb! Be warned that yes, the prices per dish are pricey - there's no lie there and as listed in many previous reviews, this place is a lot more expensive compared to other spots nearby. Quality is policy, so for me...I'm willing to pay that extra $1-2 for flavor on flavor. The carne asada burrito is what's up! The meat is of high quality where with every bite the meat juice just drips down your fingers. You guys have to try this spot out next time you have a craving of Mexican Food! read more

After a long hiatus of life events, this will be my first review for 2018. If you have been a long time resident of Union City, like myself, Mexico Tipico used to be located right across the Silver Dollar Bar on Horner Street and next to the Summer Hill Place Apartments. I was on a hunt for crispy tacos with my cousin and usually would drive to neighboring cities to find them. With the handy Yelp app, Mexico Tipico popped up in my search for crispy tacos! I've always wondered what happened to Mexico Tipico, but I'm glad they were able to find a new home. We decided to have dinner here and I needed to satisfy this crispy taco craving. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was busy, but seating was not a problem for a party of two. While looking at our menus, we were mesmerized by a drink that caught our attention, the Hennchata! We ordered two of those and continued to look through the extensive menu for our meals. I was able to find crispy tacos and ordered the beef and chicken crispy tacos for my appetizer. For my main course, I order the steak burrito combo which comes with beans and rice. While snacking on the complimentary chips and salsa (spicy and flavorful), our Hennchatas arrived within five minutes. The blend of Hennessy and horchata goes very well together. The blend is balanced so no flavor overpowers the other. If you love Hennessy and horchata, I would recommend this! As for the main course and tacos, they all looked delicious and nicely prepared. The tacos did not disappoint and came as advertised. Crispy, crunchy, and fresh! The chicken and beef were tender, coupled with the the lettuce and cheese, I couldn't resist putting down my tacos, only devouring them! The burrito combo was filling as well. Filled with a good amount of refried beans, rice, and steak, this burrito was enjoyable. The extra sides of rice and refried beans filled me up and was satisfied. I was craving a delicious carne asada burrito and unfortunately due to COVID, most of my favorite places were closed. However, I was delighted to find that Mexico Tipico was open. It's located in a really odd business center next to a dentist or something, so it's a bit obscure. I bet it's a great joint in the summer with the outdoor seating and drinks, though! I ordered two super burritos and the total came out to around $34 - pretty pricey for two burritos, but they were hefty and filled with rice, refried beans, and meat. It's not the best I had but the service was really nice and the food was made quickly. One downside is that the burrito is topped with avocado and sour cream so it's not inside the burrito. Well I guess there are pros AND cons. Pro: you can divide up the guac and sour cream as you see fit. Con: You can't eat the burrito without a fork and knife and that, for me anyway, takes the fun out of eating a burrito easily. Not sure I'll be back here once my other fave place opens up again, but the staff was great and nice and im glad they were open! read more

LOVE their complimentary salsa and chips. It has some heat to it, so prepare to drink some water. I always get their chimichangas and they never disappoint. However, I do get disappointed when I've tried their other dishes. So now I just stick to the chimichanga and thats it. My bf always get the famosa super burrito and it's HUGE. Left by 9:30 from a hysterical server asking if "my" server ever came. Called and complained. Came in again because it's my parents all time fave spot and they wanted to come in for a Sunday brunch. It wasn't too full when we came in but the spots were definitely filling up! The horchata is still probably the all time best I've had at any Mexican restaurant. The menu is very extensive and they have plenty of options from classic American food like burgers or chicken strips to nice Mexican dishes like birria or carne asada. I ordered the steak fajitas, they have more veggies than they do steak the ratio is pretty off and I would've appreciated some more meat but it was very flavorful and filled me up pretty quick. It comes with a side of rice and beans which were also very delicious! The maíz tortillas were hechas a mano I believe and they were nice and hot. My dad ordered the birria and he said that it was very delicious-also very filling. My mom enjoyed her carne asada and my sister said that her chicken fajitas were well marinated. The staff again was busy but that's not their faults, it gets pretty busy and they are doing their best. When they do come around they're super nice and friendly. I used to go to the old location on the west side years ago and a few times to this one here and there. My biggest question is, what happened? The wait time for food was close to an hour. My tacos were not seasoned. My partner asked for a super burrito and they gave him a burrito bowl. He also has health conditions where he can't eat beans. Instead of replacing the burrito bowl with a super burrito, they essentially gave him a regular burrito with rice and meat only. I'm happy the chips and salsa remain consistent, however I'm sad that we left dinner regretful. I do hope something improves because this was a hometown gem. Second time here. The first time was when they first opened. Quality of food and service are excellent. A lot of selection on the menu. I was surprised the fried whole red snapper was so small for $28. Plus, it was an additional $3.50 for the garlic sauce. It is usually included free at other places. Decent Mexican restaurant in the area. They have GIANT burritos here. On the menu, they're called "super super burritos" and they're not kidding on the size. It was stuffed full of cheese, rice and meat with a scoop of guac and sour cream on top. I personally would have preferred that they mixed in the guac and sour cream with the rest of the stuffings to even it out, but it was still pretty tasty. However, what I didn't like was that there were bones in my burrito from the shredded chicken. While it was easy enough for me to spit these out once I got a bite of it, it's not exactly what you prefer to do while enjoying your food. Our server was really nice. He was busy the night we came and at first forgot to put in an order for a tall beer that the bf ordered. When reminded, he immediately brought over the tall beer but ended up only charging us the amount for a regular pint. While this place is probably not going to be my go to Mexican spot (see reason above), it's still a solid place to come to if you're in the area and need a bite to eat. read more

This place has really gone down hill over the past couple years. The service is horrible even when they're not busy. The food is not that great either these days. We will never go again and we used to be regulars. I would give 1 star but we have had some decent experiences long ago. My wife and kids with her sister had a horrible experience here some months ago where a waiter mistook my wife's sister for someone else who he had previously apparently had issues with. Started eating here more during the COVID years. It was an easy ordering and picking up process. When they were serving only outside mariachis would be out there creating ambiance. I got hooked on the white menudo. Mostly I'm addicted to the fresh made corn tortillas they put out. The 7 seas soup they serve is my favorite entree soup anywhere. It's possible they were not staffed for the amount of people that came that day. The chips served upon arrival do need salt but the salsa is flavorful & spicy! We stared with the queso fundido w/chorizo. Melty goodness! I got the Chile Verde plate which was huge. The leftovers were lunch the next day. The rest of our party got the taco salad, Al Pastor street Tacos and steak fajitas. Everyone enjoyed their food apart from the steak fajitas. The steak strips were severely over cooked. Man this place is really good! First time trying their sopa de Rez and it was the perfect Sunday morning meal ! I didn't realize that this item also came with a small serving a red rice which was a great surprise. The only downer was the all shrimp ceviche it was literally cook shrimped with Pico se Gallo and lime this is more of a personal opinion but I enjoy my shrimp ceviche cooked in lime juice but all in all this restaurant has a variety of items on the menu would definitely recommend and I will definitely find myself eating here again ! read more

We've always wanted to try this place but because of the crowd and long wait times it never happened... but tonight I'm so glad it worked out where we were seated right away and had an awesome experience. We also sampled the mango salsa (yellow) and the salsa verde (green). I loved the red, which had the perfect amount of kick to add to your meal. Food came out within a reasonable amount of time, and it was GO TIME! Presentation was clean, colorful and perfect. I sampled a bite of my hubby's combination plate (No.7), which consisted of 1/3 of refried beans, 1/3 of Mexican rice, 1 shredded chicken enchilada and 1 carne asada taco- everything was juicy and flavorful! I was speechless when my carne asada burrito was presented to me. This burrito is HUGE, easily can be shared between 1-3 people. Please refer to my picture to see the size, but I barely ate 1/4 of it and was a good good full. The carne asada is SO juicy and actually has flavor with every bite. The homemade guacamole is delicious with the combination of cheese and sour cream. There's something about a moist, flavorful burrito that really gets my wheels turning, mhmmmm! We were some meet friends here on their recommendation. They used to eat at this place "back in the day" and wanted to try it again. We arrived earlier than our party of 5. It was 11:45 AM and no waiting customers. It was nice outside, so we gravitated to the outdoor seating. We were approached by the server asked how many in our party. We told them 5 or 6 but will call our friends to confirm. A few minutes later, she called a manager and he approached us and said we can't sit there as it was not open seating and to wait at the bench to be seated. A bit off in my opinion but we got up and sat on the bench. A few minutes later, a party of 2 and a party of 3 were immediately sat after us. Then served chips and salsa. I was surprised and asked the server what was happening? Why were others sat before us and served in minutes. She called the same manager and he tried to explain further, but do to the language barrier he failed to explain that they cannot seat us until the entire party was here. I can understand this policy, especially, for very busy establishments. There were at least 10-15 open tables and no wait. So I get policy but clearly we are customers who want to eat there. How is that policy applicable when there is no wait?! Needless to say, we felt they didn't care much about us, so we left. I later read the food quality has dropped and so I think this may have been a case of money saved. I would have been more upset if we actually paid for food that we didn't like at this place. My husband & I went to get dinner . My husband ask them to call us while we sit in the car waiting for our turn . The manager told the host not to do that . My husband asked how will we know when it's our turn , she said you just have to wait outside . It was very cold . The manager very arrogant walked by and did not even acknowledge us , all he said was NO we don't call people to the server . I've never seen a restaurant that makes people wait outside in the cold while waiting to be seated . Zero customer service for the managers, if he's truly tuning this place , he's going to run all the customers away . I hope the owner will see this and teach the arrogant manager about customer service . Went for a quick lunch to Mexico Típico with one of my girlfriends. Since it's a beautiful day we asked to be seated outside and our orders were taken pretty fast. I iterated I wanted the chilaquiles verdes with carne asada twice and I was disappointed that they brought out an order with chicken. I immediately called another waitress and said I had ordered steak not chicken. The waitress proceeded to grab my plate and I asked her why and told her she could just bring a steak out in a separate dish and bring a plate so I could put the chicken because I was hungry and wanted to eat. She said she had to take the whole plate in order to bring the steak out. This made absolutely no sense to me. They were taking a while back to bring my dish back so I told the waitress to bring my chilaquiles and to bring the steak once ready. This felt like an unnecessary complicated ordeal. Once they returned my plate the steak was not well flavored and I just couldn't believe they made me wait so long to eat.
