I have been here a handful of times and the food is always delicious but this latest time our server just wasn't good. He took a little over 10-15 mins to take our food order while walking past us over 5-6 times and his attitude simply wasn't very welcoming and honestly uncalled for but the rest of the staff were very sweet! They seem to be a little short-staffed lately which has slowed things down a bit but WHO CARES because that just gives ya more time to drown your tortilla chips in that amazing queso. This place used to be bomb. Now it's awful. My experience: sat at a way wobbly table (comically so), which was wet, not damp, from wiping it down. The food came out on a hot plate, but was undercooked. My beef taco was refrigerator cold inside. The enchilada was barely cooked. It was disgusting to me, especially since I took a big bite of the refrigerator cold taco meat. They "replaced" it with a burned taco, which looked like it had the bite I took still in it, but cooked to almost burnt. Sad that the standards have dropped so much. read more

The steaks were tender, tortillas fresh & the chicken tender on the salad. The iced tea is always great & we shared a pumpkin flan which was amazing. We should have started with it. I did not care for my margarita, it was overly sweet and I did not taste any tequila at all. I ordered a poblano chile relleno and it was also lacking in flavor. I don't know if it was just a one off time but I did not care for anything I tried except the chips and salsa. This restaurant was really good!! We originally just came here for drinks, but ended up eating a little bit also. We were staying at the Cordova Hotel, and I believe this restaurant was part of the hotel also. This place is very popular and reasonably priced, with some of the biggest burritos I've seen in a while, I forgot to get a picture of mine. I ordered a mango chamoy mocktail and the tres amigos tacos. The drink hit the spot. The dish came with a shrimp taco, a mole chicken taco, and a carne Asada taco with a side of house jalapeño hot sauce. The fried shrimp taco was basic and good. The mole sauce was Smokey, savory and delicious, but the chicken was a little dry. The carne asada was so good. The dish came with rice and beans. Been to this location for lunch a few times and the service is always stellar. Nice indoor and outdoor seating options. Kind of tucked away between some stores so can easily be missed. The chimichanga is just the right size and the chicken inside has a great flavor on its own, and it nice and juicy still. They messed up a to go order for Chicken fajitas by not providing Tortillas and We're adamant that you could only get one white sauce and salsa to go. Definitely not enough salsa and white sauce for the meal. The kitchen is great but the front of house has seemingly deteriorated in service over time. As a local who would eat there and get Togo orders frequently it's disappointing, especially since I would like to support local business. If you're in Coronado and looking for togo mexican the best spot for good customer service and enough chips and salsa for your meal it is more worth it to go to Blanco, at least that would be my recommendation for now. Juliana the waitron faced a real challenge. Late lunch single woman arrived, lots of clients before her all clamoring. But she had an eye on me and made sure someone else got me started. Then I asked about Internet access and they don't have but her team gave me their business access details. Then the food was Devine and she checked in at just the right times as well as asking if I wanted anything else, and packaging the leftovers. Always a favorite and usually make it our first stop. I've had most things on the menus over the years, mid 80s, and I don't remember a bad dish. The white queso is amazing, so much so we found a copy cat recipe online that we make all the time. Chips are good and crunchy. I've eaten at the Old Town and Coronado locations and both seem on par. I'm a big fan of the Carnitas and the fish tacos, the Ultimate Margarita is my go to. They recently changed from a shaker to just serving it in a pint glass which I was skeptical of but it was great. Hoping to come back in the next few months and it will be our first stop once again. read more

I personally love their Ensenada style shrimp tacos. The ambiance is also great with an indoor/outdoor option. The servers take great care of you and the service is over the top. You get GIGANTIC portions! I kid you not! We placed our order online and our food was ready earlier than expected. WARNING: parking is so hard to find! Back to food: I ordered the surf & turf wet burrito and it was as big as my thigh! You can definitely split it with a few people. It comes along with beans and rice too so you're set! The burrito is overly stuffed with shrimp and beef. Beef was tasty and I like that it was chunks instead of slices of beef. The shrimp was whole. But the disappointing thing is... it was VERY SALTY! I tried to drown out the salt with the beans and rice. Our order came along with a huge bag of chips plus white queso sauce and omg. The queso sauce is to die for! I literally picked pieces from my half of the burrito and dipped it into the queso to offset the salt. It helped a lot! read more

Four Star review last time, Five Stars this time. The day after Christmas, and Miguel's was slammed, with a one-hour wait. We got on the list, and traipsed across Orange Avenue to ogle the outstanding Christmas decorations at the Hotel Del. Returning 45 minutes later, we were notified via phone and seated at, surprise, the same tiny table as six months ago. In once again familiar surroundings, I ordered an Ultimate Margarita ($13), and Miguel's Nachos with beef ($13). (Chicken is available, and I imagine vegetarians can order it without meat or poultry). The nachos were outstanding, and a huge portion to boot. Crisp corn chips with spicy cheese, salsa fresca, sour cream, and guacamole. The margarita was large, with a salted rim. It was less limey and more orangey than your typical margarita, but is was very tasty and satisfying. Two critical observations: Upon being seated, we were promptly served a basket of excellent warm tortilla chips and servings of spicey queso and salsa. Some Mexican restaurants have dared to eliminate this appetizer, much to their detriment. In addition to the chips ands salsa, we were charmingly and efficiently taken care of by our server, Nailea. She greeted us promptly, took our orders accurately, and provided several checkbacks, despite being insanely busy. All in all a great experience at a great restaurant. read more

This place was an absolute delight after a day of exploring. We started our day at the SD Zoo Safari Park, then drove over to La Jolla to see the sealions, and finally drove over the bridge into Coronado to check out the Hotel Del Coronado. But we were lucky enough to find a parking spot right in front of Miguel's, so we decided to give it a shot. Best decision of the day! The entrance is really cute, reminded me very much of Spain, going though the hotel lobby into a really serene and peaceful outdoor eating area. We were seated and given menus and instantly noticed how amazing their happy hour specials are (everything on it was $7!!). We ordered a couple of margaritas, chicken nachos, carnitas tacos, guacamole, and Miguel's flatbread. Everything was absolutely over what we expected from a value perspective. I thought, for $7 in Coronado, we'll get tiny portions. But not the case at all. If you're in Coronado, stop by, you won't regret it. read more

Cute place, but it needs some TLC. We were sat down by some stairs with a railing right beside our table and it was disgusting. Dirty cob webs and needed to be painted. Not exactly appealing during a meal. Then the waitress brought my food covered in guacamole sour cream and cheese. We brought it to her attention and she questioned what I wanted as if I had told her wrong. She almost argued with me. Finally she took it back and brought it correctly. But she never returned to check on us. I could see her and other employees having a break through a window. We had no soda left no chips left. We had to ask for our ticket.
