Ok food and good service. The burgers are good. I really like the crispy chicken burger and it the most selling item. I tried the fried chicken too which looks like KFC chicken but is pretty bland and tasteless. It comes with this watery sauce that isn't the best condiment. They should really have more sauces on the menu. They have a few good drinks on the menu. The mango lassi makes a nice summer drink. The ambience is nice and I love the art and pictures that they have displayed. It is a fairly neat and clean place. read more

Love Mirchi cafe. Their food is delicious and great quality. My favorite go-to is the crispy chicken sandwich. In each bite, you can tell they literally bread the chicken themselves! Not the crappy frozen breaded chicken that other places serve. Very pleased with portions, makes me want to buy more. Stale and bland food. Got the shami kebab burger and aloo tikki burger delivered via DoorDash, patty seemed bland and just "freshly" out of the refrigerator. Same scenario with the fries. The place used to serve some decent food. Understand that Covid situation is tough, however, prices are same or up. There are better restaurants out there serving Indian-Pakistani fusion food. Mirchi is a somewhere between a chaat cafe and shalimar. A couple weeks ago I was in the mood for a cheesesteak sandwich so one of my friends suggested (and by suggested I mean decided and ring lead) that we go here. Its like desi-ed american food. Pizza with spices, fries with a twist and a selection of drinks and desserts that take you all over the world (but mostly the south asian part of it). The decor is very desi with the wooden dolls on the wall dressed in saris and the tv going on in the back with classic indian and pakistani music. The pizza is super good if you like spices like curry powder, coriander, cumin etc. Spicy and different from the standard pizza. Last time I went with a group of 5. We sat comfortably against the back wall with plenty of room. As I mentioned I was craving a cheesesteak sandwich, the closest they had was the black pepper steak sandwich...I think its called...It pretty much hit the spot until I realized it was american cheese inside. I'm not entirely sure what I expected...but not American cheese. I was able to replace my standard side of fries with chili cheese fries, which was a bonus, but the fries themselves were kind of OK. I would recommend this place for large groups...central location, good meeting spot, pretty decent food, OK service (took a couple of requests before I got my to-go boxes). I wish i can give 0 star, got three crispy chicken burgers with regular fries and those chicken patties under the burger were seems reheated several times like they taste like tasteless old chicken patty, there were like no sauce no taste nothing and the bread had weird taste. Came here for lunch on a friday. I ordered the Lahori Burger and a Mango milkshake. I really had no idea what to expect because I have never had an Indian burger before. But let me tell you, it was quite amazing! Basically it tasted like a normal beef patty, well probably above average and it also did not taste as fatty as most beef are, I think they said they use organic beef here? Not sure. But it was not as juicy as I like my burgers normally, but that is probably because since it was organic, it was probably grass fed and not as fatty as normal cattle is eating corn feed. So its healthier. Don't get me wrong though, even though it was not as juicy, I left no crumbs or leftovers! though I usually do this anyway, I was pretty full from my mango milkshake too by the time I got through half my burger, but it just tasted so good I wanted to keep eating. In summary, it takes like a grass fed beef patty with indian spices in it =]]] You gotta try it for yourself!! Disclaimer: Now I have nothing to compare this to since I have never had indian burgers before anywhere else, but for now I will definitely be coming back here since its so different!! The fries were a bit above average. I say it had just almost the right amount of crispyness to them and soft enough like McDonald's fries (I'm a little biased beacuse I like soggy/soaked up grease fries). I actually like the fries plane, which normally I like with ketchup, but its because the seasoning they put on their tasted so much better I did not want to cover it with the ketchup taste. The coleslaw was nothing special, but not as mayo'd as is normally is, so that made it feel lighter, which was nice =] As for the mango milkshake, out of this universe! Well maybe not that spectacular, but I really like mango lassi a lot and I like milkshakes, so when you combine the two, you get what Mirchi cafe gives!!! I highly recommend you try this is you like mango lassi or milkshakes. Gotta make this for myself sometime. The waiter was also very friendly which made the experience at Mirchi Cafe complete. Not sure exactly how the service was in terms of water refills because I was just drinking my mango milkshake the whole time. He did clean up our plates when we were done which was nice and also asked if we were done just to make sure not to take it away too early. As for directions, this place is a little hard to find because its in a pretty small plaze with I believe only one driveway entrance. The driveway entrance is right at the intersection of Fremont Blvd and Papazian Way. So be sure not to miss it. Summary of stars (1-5): Lahori Burger: 4.2 Fries: 3.5 Coleslaw: 3 Mango Milkshake: 4 Service: 3.7 Parking: 4 (lots of parking because a pretty big parking lot, but not a 5 because hard to find) Overall: 3.975 (Since the fries and coleslaw aren't a big part of the meal, not really factoring it in the average score, and just rounding up to 4) I might give this place a 5 in the future if there is some competition and I can compare, but for now just a 4 since I really have no idea how to rate it for comparison, but definitely I would eat here again. This review is for my catering experience (3/13 Friday) before the Shelter In Place order. First of all, let me say the food was great! Many of my coworkers have not had South Asian flavors in the past but they really enjoyed the flavor of the dishes I ordered: chicken tikka masala, 3 different pizzas, gobi manchurian, vegetarian pastries and salad. I took some vegetable pastries home and froze them; they still taste great 3 weeks later! (all dishes were half size catering orders, except for the pizzas.) Secondly, the owner was super nice and accommodating. She answered many questions patiently and made solid recommendations. It's too bad that I live in South San Jose, or else I'd be supporting Mirchi Cafe once a week during this difficult time. It pains me to write this review as this used to be one my favorite places. Last night I had dinner here and I was appalled by what has happened to the quality here. Firstly, I ordered the steak and the waiter responds "well done right?" to which I responded, no, medium rare. I thought that was strange but thought nothing of it. I then wait about 20 minutes for my food to come out, which is pretty long time, but I get the kitchen gets swamped some times. The "sizzling steak" comes to my table with zero sizzle. The steak is completely rare on the inside the sautéed vegetables are still raw. I tell the waiter and she takes it back with zero apology. They bring it back and now it's almost medium well. I proceed to eat because I'm so famished at this point. This is one of the toughest steaks I've ever had, just filled with connective tissue and gristle. I left this restaurant completely dissatisfied. Through the whole experience I got zero apologies from any staffs, just a apathetic shrug like they were used to the complaints. This is a casual Pakistani fusion halal place. I decided to pick up some fried chicken on my way home on a weekday. This place seemed to be very popular as it was very crowded on a weekday. I wasn't aware that the fried chicken usually takes 20 mins to be ready so I ordered when I got there and had to wait 20mins for my chicken. Now I know so I will place my order ahead of time. The customer service was acceptable; I believe it can be better. The Chicken was really tasty and flavorful. I got the combo with garlic bread and fries. To be honest, I was so disappointed with my recent visit. It was to the point where we weren't even seated; we were sent away. It was unusually busy for a Wednesday night and it was kind of obvious there was something going on. Me and my friends googled it and it said something about Pakistani elections. We didn't mind the wait, we just wanted to eat especially since we drove REALLY far to get here. We walked in the restaurant and stood there for about 10 minutes and NO ONE approached us. We were obviously a bit irritated. On top of that, there were people cutting through us, walking towards the back area for seating and ordering food -- we were just lost in the chaos. Enough was enough, I walked towards the cashier to ask for help and my cousin went towards one of the waiters and asked him how long before we get seated. He literally said we aren't seating people now, just order to go. It was 730 PM, there were people eating and empty tables. We were so shocked by how passive he was. We just felt unwelcome. So disappointing since I loved coming here. They really need to have some sort of order when it comes chaos days like this. Please do better. read more

Came here because friends were talking about how good it is and the Tandoori chicken pizza caught my attention. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon and parking is kind of hard to find. It is kinda hard to find as it is in the back of this small shopping center. last restaurant in the back to the left. Walked in here and it's a really nice decor. The smell hits you in the face right away! The menu is vast so you will need a bit to survey the menu in order to get a good idea of what you would like. Now we were kind of hungry so we kind of overdid it and ordered the five piece chicken, black pepper steak sandwich, spicy ranch fries, garlic bread with cheese, coleslaw and tandoori chicken pizza with beef seekh kabob added on. Now I tried many many places so I expect the best when multiple people race about a restaurant. Fried chicken- It was their special blend so I wanted to try it. It was just decent. It wasn't mind blowing or a must get and honestly you can get any other fried chicken that tastes just like this. Not worth it. The batter was just okay even though the chicken was goo. Black pepper sandwich- It is basically like a Philly cheese steak and it was actually really good but then again it was like any other Philly cheese steak that you can get. The sides- The regular fries was a tad bit spicier than normal fries but it was decent. The garlic bread with cheese was alright also, not amazing. Coleslaw was forgettable. The surprising touch was the genius idea of putting buffalo wing sauce with ranch on fries. Now that was actually amazing. The spiciness was really complimented with the creamy ranch. Now for the main reason why I came here. The tandoori chicken pizza!!!!! I added beef seekh kebab here but they didn't really charge like a regular topping but had to charge me a full kebab to put it on there so heads up for anyone wanting to try that. The pizza is topped with green bell pepper, onions, tandoori chicken with marsala sauce. It is simply amazing and turned out to be worth it after the decent dishes!!!! I ordered the beef and chicken seekh kabob, the chicken was good but the beef one needed garlic. The beef kabob had the off putting meat smell which can easily been fixed with adding the proper amount of garlic. I also had the lahori burger which was good, probably the best item that we ordered. The main reason why I am giving this place such a low rating is because they have ridiculously slow service. In any normal restaurant, everyone is supposed to get their food at the same time even if someone orders an appetizer for themselves instead of an entree. It literally took 30 mins for the "appetizer" to arrive for one of the guests while it took another 30 mins for my burger to arrive. My sister had ordered a salad which came 15 minutes after the burger arrived, but because of the long wait she had already had some of our food and was no longer interested in eating it. She canceled the salad since the service took so long. The manager tried to explain that they have a ticketing system for each type of item which is why they came out at different times but it still doesn't excuse the large discrepancies in order arrival times between everyone's orders. For common etiquette, it's rude to start eating your food until everyone's orders arrive on the table. Do they really believe their ticketing system makes sense? So everyone should wait until everyone's order arrives and wait for their food to turn cold or be rude and eat first? I also noticed that they had a catering order which they were fulfilling at the same time, I find it funny that the manager was really convinced that they did nothing wrong. Customer service will make or break your business no matter how great your food is, my advice to the owners is to seriously reevaluate how they are running the restaurant. Don't let your catering service ruin the quality of your service to your regular customers and work on improving the quality of your food. Mirchi was a great restaurant in the past, they're definitely slipping in the recent years. You're no longer the only decent halal restaurant in Fremont anymore. Either step up your game or be prepared to lose your customers. read more

I tried Chicken Masala for the first time ever at this restaurant and I have been coming back ever since. It is a guaranteed food coma. I also had several different experiences, both when it is super busy and when it is not. I would definitely recommend avoid going during peak hours because service can be a lot slower and ruin your experience if you are a first-timer. A few of my personal favorites are the Spicy Ranch Fries, Gobi Manchurian, and of course, Chicken Masala! There is such a great balance of flavors dancing with the spiciness. Top it off with a Mocha Chip Cold Blended Coffee and you would find yourself yelping here just to tell everyone about it. (LOL) read more
