It's always nice to get out to the city! Monarch was a treat! Upon arrival, there is valet parking for your vehicle and then you check in at the front desk. They give you a glass of champagne as you take the elevator up to the 49th floor. Once up top, you check in with the host. We were taken to our table and you can see all of downtown Dallas. I went here post work for drinks with friends and don't know how this place hasn't hit my radar before. They have wide selection of drinks but you can request anything as a mocktail which I greatly appreciated. You do need a reservation for entry unless you want just bar seating which is very limited. The views were stunning. It's a 360 of the entire downtown. The ambience was immaculate and the service was incredible. They have a sushi restaurant upstairs which I will be back to try out. Also we had eaten before but I was told that the food is a must here so I will have to make a trip back to try. Definitely enjoyed our hangout here. read more

I don't think they have a bad item on the menu. The $210 a5 steak was divine, cut like butter....$200 divine?? Uhhhh it would need to fill me up, fill up my car, then drive me home and put me in bed to be worth all that...but it was still pretty darn tasty! I didn't expect the Branzino to be as delicious as it was. The fish was light, but very filling, buttery, totally satisfying! Please pay a little extra up front and get the window seating. Located on the 49th floor of the National building, Monarch offers breathtaking city views and a fine dining experience that is unparalleled. The interior design is beautiful, creating an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere. The staff is always very pleasant, adding to the overall exceptional experience. I've visited Monarch many times for dinner, but this was my second time coming for Happy Hour. The Happy Hour menu selection is limited to three items, as shown in the attached photo. We tried two of the three items: the Seafood Tower and the charcuterie board, both of which were delicious. The Seafood Tower includes three jumbo prawns, three oysters, and a truffle king crab salad, accompanied by sauces and bread. The Salumi e Formaggio is a charcuterie board with cured meats, cheeses, nuts, grapes, and apricots. Upon arrival downstairs in the lobby, you are greeted with a glass of champagne to kickstart your experience. We also enjoyed the lemon drop cocktail from the Happy Hour menu. Our server, Courtney, was incredibly sweet, bringing dessert with a candle for my neighbor's birthday and making small talk with us. We also met the GM, Brian, who was very nice and checked in to ensure we were enjoying our time. Monarch observes a strict dress code, which I appreciate. One person was underdressed, and they provided a sport coat for him to wear. We visited on a Monday when it wasn't very crowded, but I presume things pick up Wednesday through Sunday. I've been on a Friday around the same time, and it's a very lively crowd. Valet parking is $10 plus tip. Upstairs, there's a Japanese restaurant called Kessaku, offering a panoramic view of the city. This is a nice area to sit and have a drink. Since it was a special occasion they seated us by a window which just happened to overlook my wife's favorite building in downtown Dallas. Drinks: All cocktails were good and fairly priced. Appetizers: We had the Wood Fired Meatballs, Texas Waygu Carpaccio and Caesar Salads. All of these items were terrific. The Meatballs were good, but were Meatball. The Carpaccio and Caesar Salad were extremely good. Mains: Short Rib Bolognese, Wood Oven Chicken, Veal Chop and the Filet. All were perfectly cooked and well presented. Top 2 were the Short Rib and Veal Chop. For the sides, were had the Asaparagus, Mushrooms and Mashed Potatoes. All were good, but these were some of the best Mashed Potatoes ever. Dessert: They comped us a chocolate cake for the birthday. It was moist with great flavor and presented nicely. Service: This was great. Table servers were prompt and attentive. Some of the better service in the Dallas restaurant scene. I chose this place to celebrate our 8 years of wedding anniversary, while the food was phenomenal, our experience was underwhelming. The valet service is $10, which they only take credit/debit and no cash. It was pretty nice, they opened the door for you and you walk up to the building. Upon entering, there is a complimentary champagne prior to boarding the elevator. The gentlemen operating the elevator is nice and personable. I was scared with the elevator though because it felt shaky. Upon going upstairs, it felt crowded yet festive. It was dark, romantic and intimate. The host was very nice, she offered a coat check. We were served by Jessica and I was not crazy about her service at all. She gave us the impression that she dislikes serving us. When my husband asked about the menu, she insisted that she explain the drink menu first. The whole interaction was just dry and there was no warmth through the night. But when we saw her interaction with the next table, she was all bright and excitable. We are not sure what it is about us that perhaps brushed her the wrong way? The food were amazing. We would just go back solely for the food. We split a turbot and the ravioli and both were phenomenal. I also had the martini with absinthe on it, It was good and strong. My husband got the pinky ring and he liked it as well. We finished the evening with a panna cotta desert which was delicious. The bathroom looks phenomenal, if you go to the very last stall by the wall, you will have a 49 story view all to yourself. We then went upstairs to view the observation deck. We would come back here solely for the food, but not to celebrate anything special. I was irritated because when I made the reservation, they asked what the occasion is for, so I answered it. However, they did not do anything to make it feel special at all, not even a greeting. It just felt like a regular dinner night, with a server with a bad energy. So, why ask what the occasion is for when you don't plan on doing anything about that information. Everything would have been a five star, the server just really docked the rating to 1 which is why I am rating this a 3 star. Welll...obviously a hot spot in town for celebrations,dates or night out. Located on the 49th floor which gives you a phenomenal view of downtown. We were there to celebrate my birthday. In order to reserve the table you have to prepay 125$ per person which is applied to your bill, however, does not include gratuity, tax, or drinks if you sit at the bar while waiting for your table to be ready. Hostesses were not happy to see us last night, which gives a terrible first impression overall, when we got to our table the waiter acknowledged that we are here because of my birthday and handed me their menu with happy birthday printed out on it. Now food: they do give you a bread basket and olives, appetizers we ordered crude and prawns they were good The main course we ordered steak, salmon, broccolini and mashed potatoes and this is where my disappointment came the food did not arrive all together(see attached pics), I value the etiquette of dining with company and usually everybody waits until everyone receives their dish. Food was good no complaint there, I did receive a complimentary dessert which I chose from dessert menu, I chose chocolate cake and it was deliciouuuus!!!! We had a reservation and arrived on time, but upon entering we found a large crowd waiting and still had to wait almost 30 minutes for our table despite booking in advance. Our server was polite but nothing more. From the moment we sat down, it felt as though he was just waiting for us to leave. For starters, we ordered carpaccio, crudo, and a Caesar salad - all of which were very tasty. However, for the main course we ordered a ribeye and vodka sauce pasta, and were very disappointed. The steak was tough and chewy, and the pasta was harder than al dente. When the server asked if the food was good, we gave a clear expression that it really wasn't. We expected him to ask what was wrong or at least make an effort to address it - especially at a restaurant that presents itself as upscale with a strict dress code - but instead he just said "okay" and walked away. Exceptional, everything is simply exceptional. This place looks to impress, and they really want you to feel like 1 million bucks from the moment you walk in. You go up to the second floor, they greet you with a huge smile and a glass of champagne before you head up the elevator to the 49th floor. The hosts were friendly, our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. All the staff look to please, and they did. Now let me tell you about the food, because it was amazing!!! Hummus-one of the best I've had. The bread was perfectly crispy and was a great addition the hummus. The veggies were fresh and were a great compliment, just a great way to start our meal. Black Truffle Rissotto-this is a very rich and creamy dish, and from what I see it is also one of their specialties. It's not very big, but it's packed with yummy goodness. In celebrating the birthday of one of my close friends, she made reservations for 8 at The Monarch. From the time you step into the lobby til you leave the 49th floor, everything was top notch! As we were escorted to the 49th floor, the elevators opened to a dazzlingly intimate wonderland. White linen dressed tables adorned with wine goblets, candlelight, and up tempo music playing in the background; I knew this was going to be a treat! For appetizers we had the Spanish Grilled Octopus in a Almond Romesco sauce that was so tender, you could cut it with a fork!(No easy task, I promise you). Wood-Fired Meatballs that were mini spheres of jam packed flavor, swaddled in a tomato crudo and topped with fresh basil. The Fritto Misto honestly, the most beautiful play on ALL THINGS FRIED, I have ever seen!(And it tasted amazing too!) Crispy Calamari, Shrimp, and Delta Smelts with fresh herbs and a pecorino aioli. Two of our party had the Heirloom Beet and Prosciutto & Buffalo Mozzarella Salads. The heirloom salad was embellished with bullseye beets, frisee, goat cheese(that was incredibly silky) pecans and chamomile vinaigrette that made the beets simply bloom on your tongue. The prosciutto & Mozzarella was hearty, without being heavy. Peppery arugula and crispy rosemary enhanced the richness of the salty prosciutto and added texture to a simple, yet tastefully complex salad. For our main course; a 45 day aged Tomahawk and Bistecca alla Fiorentina Porterhouse Steaks(both prehistoric in proportion, but so lovingly executed; you could literally taste the care and respect this animal received A.D.) Fire-Roasted Lamb Chops(baby you could have ordered this dish DOUBLE Well Done and it would still taste UNBELIEVABLE) Whole Maine Lobster Spaghetti( the spaghetti was just the right side of al dente, served with THE WHOLE LOBSTER!! Obviously the view is crazy and you should try for a window reservation. The food was great and surprising as well. The bread comes with fine butter, cured meat and olives. The reason I will no longer be able to justify giving meals five stars, Monarch Dallas. The restaurant is a luxurious experience which starts the second you step out of your car. The doors to the lobby are opened for you and walk in to a champagne greeting. You then make your way to the 49th floor. Upon checking in with the hostess we sat in the bar lounge while waiting for our reservation time. A bar server brought us a menu and after ordering our espresso martinis were brought out very quickly. Our table was tucked in a corner of the restaurant, which gave a private and romantic feel. Our server came over and immediately we knew this was going to be special. Mykal was unreal. His presence, his guidance, charm, wit. He truly made a very special meal that much better. We decided to go with the Royale and a wine pairing. Before we begin the royale review, we were brought the most delicious wood fired focaccia bread. Paired with a whipped ricotta and honey, mixed olives, and house cured salami. Truly if the bread is this good... First course was fresh oysters and caviar. The oysters were fresh and crisp, paired with a trio of sauces. I opted for the cucumber mignonette which perfectly complimented the oysters. The caviar was served traditionally with the most light and airy crisps, Bellini, egg, chives, and crème fraiche. Each bite of the caviar was truly an experience. The second part of the first course was Waygu beef carpaccio and a trio of crudo. The Waygu carpaccio was remarkable. Again, the flavors complimented each other so well. Lemon, arugula, black truffle, horseradish atop a warm brioche. The thoughtful ingredients cut through the richness of the waygu. This was the best carpaccio I have ever had the pleasure of eating, and I do not say that lightly. The crudo was a trio of hamachi, salmon, and tuna. Each was topped with shallots, capers, parsley, and lemon vinaigrette. The next course was seafood, which began with warm Alaskan King Crab. They were presently beautifully and ready to eat. The meat practically fell out of the shells it was so incredibly tender. The sauce was a tomato base with their perfect amount of spice. And just when we thought we made it to food nirvana, a table side flambé crab pasta was up. The table side show was quite the experience, but did not upstage the wonderfully creamy, Al dente home made pasta and crab. The final main course was a tender and buttery filet which was prepared so well it just melted in your mouth. Along with it was a truffle mashed potato, and charred asparagus. If this were not so incredibly good I am not sure I could've continued eating. Truly something so simple to be so memorable. The finale was a moist, dense yet light and airy chocolate cake. The cake was layered with a banana mousse and topped with caramelized bananas. Each bite had the right amount of sponge and chew. My only regret was how full I had been to not eat more of this. We had a wine pairing with our meal. And while I do not consider myself a wine aficionado by any means, it was amazing to see how the selections truly complimented each course so well. As you can see, and if you've made it this far, I cannot quite put into words how amazing this meal was. Your options to park here are to valet for 10 dollars or parking in the garages surrounding the building. We opted for the valet and it was really easy and convenient. At arrival, we were given a glass of complementary champagne for our 49 floor elevator ride. They will not seat you until your entire party has arrived so we sat in some of the cocktail tables in the front of the bar while we waited. We were seated on the inside of the restaurant and from what I can see online- if you want a seat with a window, you have to reserve them in advance and will include a fee. When we asked a few questions about wine, the Sommelier came to talk about their wine selection and chose a great bottle of wine for us to enjoy. Our server helped us to choose enough food for the table and recommended we take a family style approach. Loved the salami, olives and bread service. Such a welcoming touch. The wagyu steak was easily a 10/10 in taste- I just wish it came with a little more garnish. All sides are sold separately, but you could through a caramelized onion or some micro greens on that plate to justify that 200 dollar price tag. We loved the octopus! The grilled prawns were a solid 7/10, great flavor but very expensive for what you get. I ordered the spicy rigatoni a la vodka (9/10, not as good as carbone but a close second). Ordered the meatballs as a compliment and to add some protein. Great combo. We tried the chocolate cake and the toffee cake for dessert- the chocolate cake won my heart. If you love chocolate pb banana, it's a win. The toffee cake was sweet and would go well with a coffee. The end stall of the womens restroom has a great view of downtown and is worth waiting for the stall. Also be sure to take a photo in their cute little flower thrown by the restrooms. Originally I was going to give it a 3 because the food made up for service but a week went by after I emailed them directly regarding my experience but even after a following up email, I have not been contacted for any more details, reconciliation or even an acknowledgment of my poor service. I had hopes of being invited back again but that time has passed. Extremely unprofessional customer service and I feel like the management team doesn't care. 11/17/23- finally received a call from AST GM- Graig. Graig understands the assignment. He listened to my concerns and responded with an acceptable gesture. We revisited last night and had a pleasant experience. 11/15/23- continual ineptness. As of today the business still has not reached out. Pretending to care is another form of disrespect 11/06/23- it's been one week since responding to your request to send email- I received an automated response from your server but not call back from your management team to discuss the issue. The drinks here were great. I loved the rooftop view we had of the city, it was a very classy environment. We were welcomed with complimentary champagne and sat very quickly. I do recommend having reservations though. To be honest I didn't like my first choice of food, it was some sort of pasta. But I let my server know and they had no problem switching it out with the half chicken and that satisfied me. read more

OMG! Best meal I've had in Dallas. Amazing views and ambiance. Service was five stars! Juan was our waiter and was so professional and delightful. Started with drinks including Expesso martinis as well as Ketel One martini which were excellent! This was our first time here for our 30th anniversary and they had special printed menus for us that were unexpected and amazing! Gigantic wine list ( as big or bigger than anywhere else in Dallas for sure!}. We settled on an amazing bottle of Daou Reserve Cabernet! Yummy! Appetizers included the wood fired meatballs and fried calamari/shrimp/halibut. The meatballs were fantastic. Dinner included Filet Mignon, Veal Chop Parmesan and Rigatoni all'a Vodka with asparagus side. Unbelievable! That Veal Parmesan has to be one of he best things on the menu for sure. Dessert was the table side Tiramisu. Best I've ever had for sure. If you have a special occasion or just want a very special meal this is the place. Oh yeah did I mention the gorgeous views!!!!! Fine dining experience was 5/5 stars for us. Enjoyed all the recommendations our waitress gave. We had the tiger prawns to start, S. TX antelope with butternut squash purée, black truffle risotto, and the rigatoni. So so delicious I tried the Pear of Melons cocktail (not pictured) but definitely recommend if you like tequila, watermelon, prickly pear, and citrus! Ambiance was upscale and moody.
