Wanted to pick up a Rosca de Reyes for tonight, Jan 6. Monica's had a nice setup of Roscas. Pay inside and your senses are filled with the scent of baked goods. They have pastries and breads in cases, in shelves, all over. So many delicious things to choose from. If you want more than just pan dulce but cakes, cupcakes, and more, then stop by here and enjoy their baked good. They have their own parking lot off of Anaheim. I pulled in, paid for a small rosca, showed them the receipt outside, they gave me my box, and i was on my way.. fast and convenient. This is the best panaderia I've found in Long Beach. I love that they have little smaller sized pieces of pan dulce that you can purchase here instead of the standard size. That way you can try all your favorites.......yes.......I'm a kid again every time I visit a panaderia. I've tried everything here and there isn't anything that isn't good. Everything is really fresh in the morning. Prices are very good in an economy that's seen a lot of inflation in the bread space :) Super clean, just remember to lock your car when you go in......not exactly the safest area. read more

Great little bakery. I bought a white concha, some bolillos, bolillo with cream cheese and jalapeño, and a few others. Very good imo. I went on a Saturday night. I'd recommend to go while the sun is out. It looked a little rough at 7pm. ImGlad I gave this place a shot. Will be going back to try other stuff. Highly recommended! A staple in my household every time my sister comes over to visit from Long Beach. We always have Monica's pan dulce with cafecito on the weekends she comes over. And every single time my sister says, "The conchitas are fresh!" And ohhh man, they sure are! They offer pan dulce of all sorts and even cakes, and other pastries as well. I came by on a Sunday around 12ishpm and all of the display cases were filled with so many yummy breads it was hard to choose. I've had Monica's plenty of times but had never visited their storefront, even when I did live in LB so it was pretty cool to see where it all starts. read more

Omg delicious bread. Great service, they had so many options. I ate one of the breads 5 days later and it still tasted delicious.

Use to live by there and would always get there little jellos with raisins so good and there bolillo with cheese and jalapeños! Use to order cakes for my kids here! So delicious tres leches, then I moved and catched the bus right in front and I would get some chicken tamales and a avena to go oh how I miss it ! There bread is so good too especially concha's and there bolillo!don't go anywhere else just here. Very small but great service and ambiance is just warming and welcoming. Very horrible customer service ! Boxed up my cake with no lid and when I proceeded to ask for a lid they said they did not have any, both ladies were very unprofessional ! I've never, ever, ever, ever EVER had pan dulce as soft and fresh as Monica's bakery. I've been here at different hours of different days, and the quality never disappoints. Such a homey feeling going in there. Very small, but also intimate. The conchas are my favorite. I always get one bag of small conchas, pink, white, and brown, sometimes yellow if they have them. And then a bag that has a variety of pan dulce. When my family visits from out of state, they always ask me to take them to this bakery because there is absolutely no panadería that comes close to Monica's with the freshness and softness. Came here little after 2pm, 04.20.22 Wednesday. I picked out a tray full of pastries, when I got to the counter near the register up front, I asked the girl who seemed to be alone, no other coworkers around.. Didn't get her name, but she has short dirty blond hair, medium built. I asked her for one of the sliced tres leches cake. I asked if I can have the second one after the one in front of her because the first one looked messed up like it's been dropped. Even after I asked her for the next slice after the one she grabbed.. she still kept the first slice and placed it in the container for me. I asked nicely again if I can have the second one/a different slice. She didn't speak much English, but I understand enough Spanish to communicate with her. she kept saying it's the same cake, I told her I still want a different slice because the one she grabbed was messed up. She again, insisted I take the one she had because she didn't want to switch it for me. Since she didn't want to give me what I'm paying for.... I told her I don't want the cake anymore. Made her put it back, i'm not buying shit that's messed up or unappealing. Her face expressions.. looked upset/annoyed kind of rolled her eyes as if i cared. Makes no sense she doesn't want to do her job and sell the pastries, give customers what they ask for, what they're PAYING FOR* Truth is I was going to just walk out, not buy anything, and make her put away that tray full of pastries I've already picked out, would've been fun for her since she didn't want to lift a finger and grab the other slice of cake i asked for. Tamales were very dry and only masa very little chicken or meat (95% masa 5% chicken/meat). Ended up throwing away all the tamales. Don't order tamales from here unless you want tamales de masa. read more

There is great chocolate cake here and pretty good service. Yet today I paid about $10 for a meatball sandwich that tasted sad and microwaved. You know how you know when you over mircrowave bread and it get crusty rock hard after super soft well my bread was that way and sauce tak was ok. I had to pay extra for cheese, and normally that's just fine. But be warned of the freshness and quality that you are being charged for. read more

1 for the customer service (nonexistent) 4 for the conchas As I was selecting my sweet bread, the tray turned over and dropped 4-5 conchas (I don't recall exactly) on the floor. My mistake, human error. A lady from the kitchen comes out and shows a 'deer in headlights syndrome. Since she didn't say anything and just stared, I offered to pick up my mess. As I approach the register, the cashier tells me: I will charge you for the conchas on the floor. Without hesitation, I responded, yes, of course. Nonetheless, to my surprise, the cashier lady then adds, "do you want to take the conchas from the floor as well?" I was shocked and amazed that after the COVID-19 pandemic precautions, she had the audacity to offer the contaminated bread to take home. As much as I enjoy their conchas, I won't be returning to this business for their lack of customer service and etiquette. It made me wonder about their hygiene cleanliness and safety measures for servicing the public. read more

Came here for a late night craving of tres leches cake. I thought I got lucky when I saw this place was still open at 8:30pm and had tres leches slices. I ordered one and a flan, I mean it was already there right? Might as well! I go home and ugh! Driest tres leches cake ever. Like they should've just labeled it white cake or vanilla cake because it had no moisture what so ever! I had to pour milk on it at home which sucked. I thought at least I have creamy sweet flan right? WRONG. It had a good thick texture but it was not creamy and it was not sweet at all! Isn't the brown liquid supposed to be sweet caramel? I have no idea how you can make a flan not sweet. These were the worst two desserts ever. Tasty tamales, great selection of pan dulce and fresh baked goods.. decided to try a dozen tamales during the Fall Tamals season.. which ended up being a 3 star experience.. some were dry and mostly masa, and some were moist and delicious.. however, ordering 2 fresh made were both yummy.
