Sautéed spinach is a lovely touch on the smoked salmon benedict (which I otherwise often find to be slightly dry and plain in other places). The brioche toast is a wonderful twist vs english muffin; perfectly toasted to be slightly crisp, adding a sweet finish to the savory flavor profile. The option of a mixed greens side salad with a delicious vinegrette for no extra charge (or fries, if you prefer) really rounds off this brunch to give a light and healthy touch instead of feeling heavy. Benedicts are one of my favorite meals; I have had at least 50 and probably more like 60-70 different restaurant's benedicts, and this is probably the best I have ever had, and certainly the best when taken as a full package (side salad, service, ambiance, wait time, and TOOK RESERVATIONS!) This place is great! We went for dinner, and we were very impressed with the quality of the food. The Greek Fries were phenomenal - loved the flavoring of the cheese and olives on them. We also got both the lamb and beef kabobs, and the lamb in particular was excellent. The pita was freshly made and the sauces were phenomenal. The lamb was fresh and tender, and you can tell that everything is made with high quality ingredients from scratch. One thing to note is that they don't serve alcohol...but it is BYOB so you can bring your own wine or whatever you want! Visiting from LA. Best food we had in our 8-day trip to Boston. Everything we ordered was excellent. Hummus was AMAZING. The beef kabobs, chicken, and fish were among the best middle-eastern dishes we've had in the US. They are still in the process of obtaining a liquor license, so you can bring your own bottle. It's a cozy place with good quality food. Everything is halal. I ordered the sea bass which was served with fresh (made in house pasta). The pasta was so good. You can tell it was fresh. The sauce on the pasta was flavorful but I felt it was a little on the oily side. Still delicious though. The sea bass was cooked to perfection. Crisp skin and delicate texture. It was also a decent sized portion. I brought my appetite so I was able to finish the whole thing. I didn't order appetizers. The cost is on the high end but I thought it was worth it. Everything was presented beautifully. The service was excellent too. Their virgin drinks are fun too. I ordered the pink lady which paired well with the sea bass. Really delicious. Definitely not your average pink lemonade. It's smooth. My friend ordered the watermelon salad which had an amazing dressing. The watermelon was fresh not at all watery. I'm sure the croutons help with that. She also ordered the chicken with sweet carrot and cauliflower mash and Hibiscus tea which she enjoyed. She really liked the cold hibiscus tea. Surrounded by many Italian restaurants, Mood Cafe & Restaurant is a casual sitdown Mediterranean eatery serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner and they offer takeout as well. The place has table seating in the front window and along the right side wall. There is also seating up at the coffee/espresso bar. I decided to eat in since it was very muggy outside and this place was a nice spot too cool off. I took a seat at a table next the front window. The server gave me a dinner menu to look over. I decided on the Chicken Shish Kebab ($21 plus tax), which took about 20 minutes to be served. This dish had tender pieces of marinated chicken, crispy onions, garlic aioli, dried berries over 2 steamed khinkal (cinnamon rolls). This kebab dish was unique since most places serve kebabs with rice and this plated dish had cinnamon rolls. The chicken pieces had good flavors. After I was done, I requested the check with Toast QR code, which came out to $22.47 with tax and before tip. I paid online and I was good to go quickly. as I headed over to Hanover Street for some tasty cannolis for dessert in true North End fashion. read more

My husband & I and another couple were looking for breakfast in the North End of Boston. We were hoping to find something more substantial than pastry and coffee so we're happy to discover the Mood Cafe. We sat down and were immediately greeted by Fatima, who with her husband owns the restaurant. The menu was Mediterranean- although with a Middle East vibe. Fatima did a wonderful job of guiding us through the menu & helping to make selections. Everything - from the coffees and teas to the mezzas and various egg dishes- was delicious! The accompanying pita was freshly baked and spices were fresh and locally sourced. Alcohol is not served but there are several intriguing non alcoholic beverages and patrons are also allowed to BYOB. I found this spot a bit haphazardly and almost missed an amazing experience in Boston. Great food, friendly and knowledgeable assistance, really didn't take that long (though I heard someone else comment on 15m being too long... and they didn't want to wait - the manager offered them an option that they seemed to find suitable), and was quiet as they've just opened and are one block off the busier street. I would have appreciated something other than politics on the TV (not sure tv is needed?) but that's personal preference. Pita is made in house, everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful. My teen daughter and I stumbled across this newly opened cafe today while looking for breakfast in Boston's North End. The ambience was spare but clean and inviting. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The breakfast menu featured a few American & European style favorites plus some Mediterranean style dishes. We opted for the eggs Benedict (called Benedict eggs) and the mascarpone pancakes. Everything was super delicious. The eggs Benedict arrived on slices of Brioche style bread, which we decided was even better than the usual so-called English muffins. The sauce had a hint of nutmeg. The turkey bacon was crispy. The pancakes were a small portion (which we preferred) and great texture. Lovely sauce and fresh berries. The halva latte as well as a cardamom iced latte were spot on too. Like any cafe with made to order food, come in with a patient attitude as you are not getting fast food! Relax and enjoy your beverages. Also, as the place just opened there was no wait at all! Mood is a middle eastern life raft in the sea of North End Italian. The food is simply excellent. The flavors simply fill your mouth with happiness. We had a large group, so we tried almost everything on the menu and everyone kept saying "you HAVE to try this!" The prices are more reasonable than most of the Italian tourist places. The staff is outstanding and we felt like they were our friends by the time we left. This place is not fancy. It is simply a wonderful neighborhood restaurant that you will want to return to over and over. It is certainly, hands down, my favorite place in Boston. read more

Perfectly cooked tender beef served with a hot tomato sauce. It came with carrots, which were on a bed of seasoned yogurt and topped with toasted bread, crumbs, and parsley. Everything paired perfectly. My husband ordered the 7- spice beef patty in the sandwich section of the menu. It came in a hand-made pita which was out of this world, and a tahini dressing that perfectly complimented the sandwich. My daughter ordered the chicken Shawarma and said 10 out of 10 she would recommend it. Wish I could have enjoyed it with a glass of wine (they are not serving alcohol) but another couple was smart and brought their own bottle of wine.
