Considering I live in the Seaport and had never been here, this place is AMAZING! The food portions are huge, and this is great for either business dinners (upstairs), hanging out with friends on the weekends (downstairs), or even watching sports (upstairs and downstairs). Fantastic food and hospitality by the staff. I came on Friday around 5p and the crowds hadn't arrived yet so the staff (chef Pablo, manager ? Ashley and others) came over to introduce themselves and to make sure the food was good. And yes, the food is super yummy. I had the tuna stack and the pork belly ramen. Both super delicious. Food was so good that I came the following day at 7:30p for the short rib bolognese. Also outstanding The place was packed so you need reservations. The line waiting to get inside, under the rain, kept getting longer as the night went on. The music was a bit loud and club like. We ordered the burgers and fries, which were really good, and the atmosphere was great until a moment that left a sour taste. When some patrons returned excited about the inauguration, the bartender began agreeing and sharing her political views openly. While patrons discussing politics is their prerogative, it's highly inappropriate for staff to join in and bring such topics into the dining experience. Guests should be able to enjoy their meal without politics or personal opinions being forced into the conversation. It's a beautiful restaurant. The menu doesn't know what it wants to be though, it has everything -- Mexican, Asian but classifies itself as American. I would have liked to see them pick a lane and stay in it. The cocktails are great, they have a good wine selection and lots of margaritas as well as non-alcoholic mocktails. The service can be improved. For the number of people behind the bar I had to wait to order my drink, my entree, ask a question, and close out. No one ever asked if I needed anything. I ordered the shrimp tacos which were incredible and I hope that's the lane they choose to be in, but the side was chips and guacamole and when I got my order it didn't have guac and when I asked for the side I was told they were out... something I probably should have been told upfront because I would have gone sweet potato fries (the guy next to me had them and they looked phenom). If you live in the area or you're staying at a nearby hotel this is a great option for an easy dinner, but I think they are likely still working out some of their kinks. read more

Made reservations at 10PM for a late late dinner on OpenTable... Good thing I did. It was a Friday Night and apparently Moxies turns into the hot spot to be in town after dinner. The night club vibes were definitely in full affect! The bar area top the right of the restaurant was packed full of people when we got there just before 10pm and a line was already formed outside due to capacity levels met inside. We walked up to the front of the line and told the bouncer we had a 10pm reservation and let us in. IT WAS FREAKING LOUD AS EFF in there. When we got to our table everyone was talking above themselves because the bar area was so loud it was almost deafening. We decided to stay because the food looked good. We sat down and ordered our drinks appetizers and entrees all at once with the server.. She told us she would be with us shortly. But, knowing the situation was crazy, we put everything in all at once. Everything was delicious. nothing disappointed. I do have to highlight that espresso Martini made with Tequila and Baileys! I'm honestly shocked this place has more than three stars. I really can't be that picky, but read my review and decide for yourself. The service? Non-existent. We had to flag down our waitress like we were hailing a taxi, and we were about as successful. I suppose they didn't feel the need to work for a tip, seeing as we were automatically charged a 20% gratuity. How nice for them. The food? Absurdly mediocre for the price. My blackened chicken burger was a quarter-inch strip of dry chicken breast on a lukewarm bun, accompanied by the blandest french fries I've ever had. You can get a half-pound beef burger for the same price and 10x the flavor. The restaurant itself was nice, but that's the Seaport for you. The food here is absolutely terrible. Brussels sprouts appetizer came out with random uncooked cherry tomatoes and landed on our table just moments after we ordered them. And then right away our entrées came out - so from the time we ordered, to the time the appetizer and two entrées arrived (annoying all together), it had been maybe five minutes and it tasted exactly like five minute food. There has to just be a buffet of food in the kitchen that just gets plated as soon as the order goes in. Our server was lovely and did take the pasta off since we barely touched it. It was garbage. Nothing here tasted fresh. This is the opposite of fine dining. From start to finish with wine and appetizers was no more than 30 minutes. Literally like elevated fast food. Crappy night out. This was my first time visiting Moxies in Seaport. I think I would go back for a drink at the bar but probably wouldn't go again for a meal. Food portions were larger than other Seaport restaurants I've tried which I appreciated and the drinks were great. For the price of appetizers and entrees, I didn't think the food quality was as special as I had hoped. My group sat at a high top table by the bar. It was so loud I couldn't hear the person sitting across from me and there was a large group over flowing from the bar crowding our table which was a little uncomfortable for eating dinner. Again, seemed like a great bar experience but not my favorite dinner spot. Might be better in a different part of the restaurant. Went to Boston for a short weekend trip. This was our only actual dinner there for the weekend and decided to go to Moxies so we could be in the Seaport District Area. I'm so glad we went!!! We started off with the roasted tomato bruschetta and it was hands down the best thing we've had all weekend!!! Wish a little more bread was given but the feta cheese with the roasted garlic and tomato's tasted so delicious I wish I could have it again right now. For our mains we got the chipotle mango chicken and the chicken pasta. The pasta was ok, a little watery and not that much of a flavor. The chipotle mango chicken was so good!!! Lots of flavor and the quinoa was made beautifully!! The service was great. Fast and super nice staff. The overall ambiance was modern yet family friendly. We had just arrived at Logan Airport and checked in at Hampton Inn Boston Seaport District. We passed by Moxies on the way, and I did my homework looking for a restaurant open late near the hotel. We were able to walk in the light drizzle around 11:00 pm. As we entered the host had his back to the door, and didn't notice us for several minutes. The music was loud, and many guests were in the bar. The room was dark, and there were a few tables of diners. We were seated by the window, away from the bar. My wife got clam chowder and I had a BLACKENED CHICKEN BURGER chicken breast, crisp pancetta bacon, cheddar, roasted garlic mayo, shredded lettuce & tomato $19 comes with fries which were really good, crisp as if they were fried twice. My son got: CHIPOTLE MANGO CHICKEN with a sweet & smoky dry rub, lemon quinoa, seasonal vegetables, avocado & salsa fresca $30 The food was very tasty, we only had free cookies on the plane...So a decent meal was very welcomed...I glad the restaurant was open, and close by. Nice location in seaport area of Boston. The space is large with a good separation between bar and dining space. The bruschetta as an appetizer was amazing. It was large and the feta cheese was delicious. The menu was a little odd and had a lot of things with mushrooms in it. We do not like mushrooms so we were a bit limited. The only pasta I was able to get was the bolognese which was decent. I wish they would expand the menu and veer away from the mushrooms in everything. read more

I have never been so appalled by the service at a restaurant before. I was given a ribeye and gaslighted by the manager telling me it was a filet. When I asked for them to bring me a filet, the chef sent me a completely raw and purple filet as a "f you dude" move. The manager then explained to me that the chef cooked said filet "medium on the outside". The manager and the chef should no longer work in food service. I sent back my ribeye and asked for a filet to which I was met with the manager coming back to my table and telling me I was wrong and that I actually received a filet and not a ribeye. They also sent out a non gluten free salad when my friend ordered a gluten free dish despite his allergy. Another friend also was told her drink was alcohol free despite it clearly having alcohol in it. The health department should inspect this place and shut it down to be frank. read more

Thursday Dinner Friend in Southie wanted to go here. Place is probably better for the Gen Z crowd than millennials. The restaurant itself is huge and very open feel. Some places can pull off a wide variety menu (Earl's, for example, does that well) but this menu felt too all over the place. Everything we had was just okay / meh. A two star review for any restaurant seems unfair, but it's justified. I sat at the bar at 515 after work. There were a ton of people walking around, but only one to two bartenders working. I eventually get served a pineapple margarita, which was OK I was hungry and the bar menu was out. I was never offered a regular menu. So I got half a dozen oysters, and their guacamole. I the oysters were pretty good, but the reason I went there was because their website said they had two dollar oysters from 4 to 6 every day they cut that back to 2 to 5 so my six oysters are 21.50. I would not do that again at that price. Guacamole was let's say interesting, but the base of it was like a purée of avocado, and not good tasted old and flavorless. The staff at the bar did leave my dishes in front of me for 20 minutes before, the bartender came over and removed them for me, basically because I pushed them till they were almost falling over the edge. Pre bussing is dead. I'll give it a couple weeks, but the Staff was completely unprepared for a slightly busy post-happy hour. Maybe a couple weeks for lunch and I'll check out their actual food menu. The one bright note was the manager on duty. She was the one person who asked me how my drink was, and I saw her moving throughout the restaurant checking on customers. Moxies opened in the Ora apartments building in the Seaport District, conveniently across the street from the Leader Bank Pavilion. I've dined at Moxies many years ago, which is a popular chain restaurant and bar across Canada. I enjoyed the Beef Vindaloo dish with rice and Naan at the Argentia Rd location in Mississauga, Ontario. I was silently thrilled when I found out Moxies Grill & Bar was opening locations in the US, including in Boston. I don't have to wait for my next road trip to Ontario or New Brunswick & Nova Scotia, where there are Moxies Grill & Bar locations. I made an online reservation to check out the new Moxies in Boston. This modern American (New) restaurant and bar has two levels of dining and drinks with high ceilings and crowd noise echoing throughout the place. Also, the techno dance music was a bit loud from the bar area, which has flatscreen TVs above. I arrived here just after 7:30 pm on opening night (to the public) and was promptly seated at a table with a long booth seat along the wall. There is candlelight at each table. It was only a week before the grand opening that Moxies Boston hosted a private event for Marky Mark's Flecha Azul Anejo Tequila. I perused the menu, which offers a variety of gastropub fare, sort of similar to The Yard House, but without the pizzas. They offer appetizers, seafood raw bar, soups, salads, vegetarian & plant based fare, sandwiches, burgers, bowls, ramen, pasta, steaks, seafood, chicken and in house desserts. The prices here are moderate and generally higher than the other US locations, but fair considering the prime location. The server arrived at my table with a cold glass bottle of tap water and asked me if I wanted another kind of drink, doing the upsell. I was all set with cold tap water, and this visit here was strictly for the food. I ordered two entrees for the purpose of this Yelp posting. The entrees arrived together in 10 minutes, which was remarkably quick on a busy opening night. The French Dip ($20 plus tax), which had thin sliced roasted beef, sautéed mushrooms, swiss Cheese, creamy dijon horseradish on a soft pretzel roll and au jus for dipping. It came with a side and I chose mashed potatoes which were soft and very smooth with a few small potato chunks. This French Dip sandwich was definitely one of the best I've had this year. The Short Rib Bolognese ($28 plus tax) was a good portion of soft cooked fettuccine noodles with dense slow braised short rib & beef rogout with cherry tomatoes, fresh herbs, grana podano cheese & long garlic ciabotta baguette. This dish had good hearty flavors. I also got a box for this so I could order dessert. For dessert, the Sticky Toffee Pudding ($13 plus tax) was a thick piece of soft cake served warm with candied pecans, buttery caramel sauce (poured tableside onto the plate), bourbon crème anglaise, and vanilla bean ice cream. This dessert was "just right" sweet and similar to the Yard House version of this favorite dessert. The check total for two entrees and a dessert was $65.91 with tax and before tip. Overall, the service here was very attentive and prompt. My server was anxious though and tried to upsell me on the drinks, which is probably in their training. The food was solid good and now there is a great place to go for food and drinks before and after concerts. They are open late night too. read more

We first experienced Moxies in Canada and could not wait to replicate that stellar experience. The Boston location left much to be desired. The food was overall good though we were disappointed in the appetizer. It's hard to mess up guacamole but they managed. Our server was impatient and kept rushing us to figure out our order saying it would "be best for everyone" if we decide quickly and we had only been there for a few minutes at that point. After we ordered though, he was nowhere to be found. So service was disappointing. We felt this restaurant lacked the charm of the Toronto location despite being in the gorgeous harbourfront. Our server was very attentive and made sure our food came out quickly but we didn't feel rushed. For appetizers we shared the potstickers and maple glazed Brussels sprouts with pancetta. Both were delicious. I had the French dip sandwich served hot on a soft pretzel roll. My friend had pasta with chicken and a cream sauce. Both were great.
