Went to Boston for a short weekend trip. This was our only actual dinner there for the weekend and decided to go to Moxies so we could be in the Seaport District Area. I'm so glad we went!!! We started off with the roasted tomato bruschetta and it was hands down the best thing we've had all weekend!!! Wish a little more bread was given but the feta cheese with the roasted garlic and tomato's tasted so delicious I wish I could have it again right now. For our mains we got the chipotle mango chicken and the chicken pasta. The pasta was ok, a little watery and not that much of a flavor. The chipotle mango chicken was so good!!! Lots of flavor and the quinoa was made beautifully!! The service was great. Fast and super nice staff. The overall ambiance was modern yet family friendly. We had just arrived at Logan Airport and checked in at Hampton Inn Boston Seaport District. We passed by Moxies on the way, and I did my homework looking for a restaurant open late near the hotel. We were able to walk in the light drizzle around 11:00 pm. As we entered the host had his back to the door, and didn't notice us for several minutes. The music was loud, and many guests were in the bar. The room was dark, and there were a few tables of diners. We were seated by the window, away from the bar. My wife got clam chowder and I had a BLACKENED CHICKEN BURGER chicken breast, crisp pancetta bacon, cheddar, roasted garlic mayo, shredded lettuce & tomato $19 comes with fries which were really good, crisp as if they were fried twice. My son got: CHIPOTLE MANGO CHICKEN with a sweet & smoky dry rub, lemon quinoa, seasonal vegetables, avocado & salsa fresca $30 The food was very tasty, we only had free cookies on the plane...So a decent meal was very welcomed...I glad the restaurant was open, and close by. Decent place with a great location. Sitting outside has a very nice view of the waterfront. Food was good, not special, but we both enjoyed it. The menu was extensive, lots of options. Service was friendly. A local game happened to start while we were eating and the place got pretty packed. So, it seems to be a popular local spot. Reservations may be useful, especially on game day. read more

Unfortunately, I was served two steaks that weren't edible, and while a manager initially said they'd take care of it, there was no follow-up afterward and it felt like we were avoided. Thursday Dinner Friend in Southie wanted to go here. Place is probably better for the Gen Z crowd than millennials. The restaurant itself is huge and very open feel. Some places can pull off a wide variety menu (Earl's, for example, does that well) but this menu felt too all over the place. Everything we had was just okay / meh. A two star review for any restaurant seems unfair, but it's justified. I sat at the bar at 515 after work. There were a ton of people walking around, but only one to two bartenders working. I eventually get served a pineapple margarita, which was OK I was hungry and the bar menu was out. I was never offered a regular menu. So I got half a dozen oysters, and their guacamole. I the oysters were pretty good, but the reason I went there was because their website said they had two dollar oysters from 4 to 6 every day they cut that back to 2 to 5 so my six oysters are 21.50. I would not do that again at that price. Guacamole was let's say interesting, but the base of it was like a purée of avocado, and not good tasted old and flavorless. The staff at the bar did leave my dishes in front of me for 20 minutes before, the bartender came over and removed them for me, basically because I pushed them till they were almost falling over the edge. Pre bussing is dead. I'll give it a couple weeks, but the Staff was completely unprepared for a slightly busy post-happy hour. Maybe a couple weeks for lunch and I'll check out their actual food menu. The one bright note was the manager on duty. She was the one person who asked me how my drink was, and I saw her moving throughout the restaurant checking on customers. Nice location in seaport area of Boston. The space is large with a good separation between bar and dining space. The bruschetta as an appetizer was amazing. It was large and the feta cheese was delicious. The menu was a little odd and had a lot of things with mushrooms in it. We do not like mushrooms so we were a bit limited. The only pasta I was able to get was the bolognese which was decent. I wish they would expand the menu and veer away from the mushrooms in everything. read more

Moxies opened in the Ora apartments building in the Seaport District, conveniently across the street from the Leader Bank Pavilion. I've dined at Moxies many years ago, which is a popular chain restaurant and bar across Canada. I enjoyed the Beef Vindaloo dish with rice and Naan at the Argentia Rd location in Mississauga, Ontario. I was silently thrilled when I found out Moxies Grill & Bar was opening locations in the US, including in Boston. I don't have to wait for my next road trip to Ontario or New Brunswick & Nova Scotia, where there are Moxies Grill & Bar locations. I made an online reservation to check out the new Moxies in Boston. This modern American (New) restaurant and bar has two levels of dining and drinks with high ceilings and crowd noise echoing throughout the place. Also, the techno dance music was a bit loud from the bar area, which has flatscreen TVs above. I arrived here just after 7:30 pm on opening night (to the public) and was promptly seated at a table with a long booth seat along the wall. There is candlelight at each table. It was only a week before the grand opening that Moxies Boston hosted a private event for Marky Mark's Flecha Azul Anejo Tequila. I perused the menu, which offers a variety of gastropub fare, sort of similar to The Yard House, but without the pizzas. They offer appetizers, seafood raw bar, soups, salads, vegetarian & plant based fare, sandwiches, burgers, bowls, ramen, pasta, steaks, seafood, chicken and in house desserts. The prices here are moderate and generally higher than the other US locations, but fair considering the prime location. The server arrived at my table with a cold glass bottle of tap water and asked me if I wanted another kind of drink, doing the upsell. I was all set with cold tap water, and this visit here was strictly for the food. I ordered two entrees for the purpose of this Yelp posting. The entrees arrived together in 10 minutes, which was remarkably quick on a busy opening night. The French Dip ($20 plus tax), which had thin sliced roasted beef, sautéed mushrooms, swiss Cheese, creamy dijon horseradish on a soft pretzel roll and au jus for dipping. It came with a side and I chose mashed potatoes which were soft and very smooth with a few small potato chunks. This French Dip sandwich was definitely one of the best I've had this year. The Short Rib Bolognese ($28 plus tax) was a good portion of soft cooked fettuccine noodles with dense slow braised short rib & beef rogout with cherry tomatoes, fresh herbs, grana podano cheese & long garlic ciabotta baguette. This dish had good hearty flavors. I also got a box for this so I could order dessert. For dessert, the Sticky Toffee Pudding ($13 plus tax) was a thick piece of soft cake served warm with candied pecans, buttery caramel sauce (poured tableside onto the plate), bourbon crème anglaise, and vanilla bean ice cream. This dessert was "just right" sweet and similar to the Yard House version of this favorite dessert. The check total for two entrees and a dessert was $65.91 with tax and before tip. Overall, the service here was very attentive and prompt. My server was anxious though and tried to upsell me on the drinks, which is probably in their training. The food was solid good and now there is a great place to go for food and drinks before and after concerts. They are open late night too. read more

I have never been so appalled by the service at a restaurant before. I was given a ribeye and gaslighted by the manager telling me it was a filet. When I asked for them to bring me a filet, the chef sent me a completely raw and purple filet as a "f you dude" move. The manager then explained to me that the chef cooked said filet "medium on the outside". The manager and the chef should no longer work in food service. I sent back my ribeye and asked for a filet to which I was met with the manager coming back to my table and telling me I was wrong and that I actually received a filet and not a ribeye. They also sent out a non gluten free salad when my friend ordered a gluten free dish despite his allergy. Another friend also was told her drink was alcohol free despite it clearly having alcohol in it. The health department should inspect this place and shut it down to be frank. read more

Decided to try this for a celebratory meal. Both the service and food were great. We were seated right away and the views are terrific (better from upstairs.) Our server was very attentive and made sure our food came out quickly but we didn't feel rushed. For appetizers we shared the potstickers and maple glazed Brussels sprouts with pancetta. Both were delicious. I had the French dip sandwich served hot on a soft pretzel roll. My friend had pasta with chicken and a cream sauce. Both were great. Plenty of vegan and gf options on the menu too. The manager checked on us when there was a small issue (not their fault) and she took some $ off the bill. Noise level was lively but not too loud. I went here for dinner and a drink the day after opening night. I got the chipotle chicken entree and it was very good. My drink was the empress gin and tonic which was also nice. The interior of the restaurant was absolutely stunning. We sat upstairs and there was so much natural light and a beautiful view of the water. There was no tables on the upper terrace but people were welcome to go out there to sip of their drinks or take pictures. They also did great for spacing out the different parties so we couldn't hear others conversations. Lastly, very accommodating with adding a table for the last minute guests and food allergies. We first experienced Moxies in Canada and could not wait to replicate that stellar experience. The Boston location left much to be desired. The food was overall good though we were disappointed in the appetizer. It's hard to mess up guacamole but they managed. Our server was impatient and kept rushing us to figure out our order saying it would "be best for everyone" if we decide quickly and we had only been there for a few minutes at that point. After we ordered though, he was nowhere to be found. So service was disappointing. We felt this restaurant lacked the charm of the Toronto location despite being in the gorgeous harbourfront. After reviewing all of the area restaurants for dinner options this was the only one that had a potion of the menu dedicated to vegetarian and vegan options. The lettuce wrap dish for delish! We also picked for outdoor seating options at the seaport. While we had hoped to sit upstairs for optimal view, it was closed that evening due to lack of staff, but the street location was still enjoyed; the evening breeze included. We also ate outside because one of our friends has hearing issues; any inside sounds make it hard for some. The service was excellent from making the reservation to being pleasantly seated to concluding the dinner. My colleagues also said they enjoyed their choices. If in the area for a conference as we were, this IS the place for dinner. read more

Visited this place on a whim and glad we did! Parking was a bit challenging but the hotel next door had valet so went that route. The portions here were large so don't over order. I got a steak salad that was delicious! The service was friendly and constantly checked up on us, waters were promptly refilled, and waiters were easy to flag down. Depending on which side you sit on (booths vs bar) affects the feel of the place. Windows throughout so plenty of lighting / views outside. Definitely will be visiting again. read more

Our waitress was super pleasant, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive. The manager was pleasant as well, which is important when running a business. Parking in the city is always right expensive or impossible, so i skipped that completely and just used a ride share service. The drinks were delicious! very well mixed. The food was very interesting. We started with a chicken lettuce wrap. It was F***ing delicious. The lettuce was fresh, and had the perfect crunch- the chicken was well flavored, it truly was a perfect bite. My friend got the shrimp tacos for the entree- she enjoyed them. I got the steak, medium- with a side of fries. My steak I asked for medium...ended up getting cooked medium well-well. very hard to cut through- BUT it was returned and another steak was prepared, it was much better, but still not quite medium. The fries were very salty, but some people may enjoy that (personal preference). We finished with a toffee pudding, one of my favorite desserts in general...it was on the drier side. Dryish and thick. tasted more of a cake rather than a "pudding". The icecream and sauce helped make it slightly better. I think over time these things could be improved because it was such a great experience. I would go here again to try the other items. beautiful restaurant in a prime location. This review is only 3 stars because food is an essential part of the dining experience. Perhaps it will change with the next visit and trying the other food items. Hostess was blowing off guests and playing on her phone on a busy night. Next we were told to get a bartender's attention to order takeout and he looked at us, then walked away ignoring us. I was told takeout would only take 15 minutes but it took more then double that amount of time. That isn't even all of the bad service! The man who was ringing up our order apologized because he had no idea how to ring it up. That isn't a problem on its own but with everything else really topped it off. They also forgot to put part of the order in the takeout bag but we were still charged. While the food was good this place seems to have severe problems with staff and service. Spend your money on somewhere that will respect you instead. read more

With all the competition in this area, I was very surprised at the quality of the food we ordered. Four of us got cheese burgers after a concert. The burgers just had no taste. The toppings saved the day, but I have had better tasting burgers going through a drive thru. read more

Moxies is newer to the seaport so I needed to try this chain restaurant that has locations in what seems to be the more major cities. Went on a Friday night and it was busy, we were 20 minutes late for the reservation and called to let them know but by time we got there still had to wait another 30 for the table. We were able to grab a couple bar seats and have a drink. The drink menu offered a nice variety and we went with some spritzes that were good. The food was overall good as we got the burger and shrimp tacos. Nothing that blew me away but well cooked and solid portion sizes. I think the food is priced well but the drinks are definitely expensive $15+ for a cocktail. We finished it off with the Mile high pie and that was a delicious ice cream cake. The servers and hosts were constantly checking in (almost too often) but did so in a nice way so it was definitely good service. A group of us went to Moxie for brunch on 7/27/25. Unfortunately it was not a great experience. The only redeeming part was the view. The service was poor. Our server was not very good. It took time to even get service. She had to come back to the table and ask a second time what we wanted. When she asked if we needed more drinks she said oh wait I better write this down. She did not know much about the menu. When one of us asked for a particular type of cheese she said oh I'll put it on the computer and see if the kitchen can do it. You don't even know what type of cheese you have and if you don't could you ask?? Then when it was served there was no cheese at all! The hash was not visually appealing or very tasty, if it wasn't for the spicy sausage there would be no flavor. I had to ask twice for salt and pepper. She kept forgetting. And the poached egg was more like hard boiled. The appetizers were good but the entrees lacking. We also had no napkins or silverware. Had to poach other tables for them. When we were finally finished we had to wait for her to come back so we could ask for our check. It is just disappointing when the restaurant was not busy and you see multiple servers just standing around at the bar talking. And where is the dining room manager??? Does no one care about customer service anymore. Nice location but poor service and barely adequate food. read more

Update I talked to the boss, Mike Nezny he assured me that the next time I come in, it would be the best I came early when they opened the restaurant the first couple of weeks so they didn't have everything together. Yesterday was amazing. The drinks were made to perfection. I had a reservation already made for me I was seated in the middle of the restaurant. It was the most amazing experience of my life. The steak was amazing. The mahi-mahi was the best fish I've ever tasted in my life. I made a very negative review, but I gave it another chance and I'm very glad that I did the people the food. The service was impeccable thank you Mike for making it right and for talking me into coming one more time I will be back forever thank you for a great night and thank you for making it right. Amazing food, I especially love the brunch menu however I visited last night Saturday 01/25/25 with a friend we were stunned at the awesome service we were provided by a lovely young lady named Sandra. I usually don't pay much attention to the person serving us as they never really tried to make me feel important. This young lady treated us like we were the only diners in the place and I know she was very busy but you could not tell she handled everything like a pro. We got our drinks right away didn't have to wait the normal 30-45 min . The meal was exceptional as it always is kudos to Moxies for wonderful service and delicious food!! read more
