    Special Sandwich

On a SGV Bahn Mi crawl, this was my seventh and final stop. Mr. Baguette was initially not on my list as I wanted to try more locally owned, higher reviewed and less commercialized restaurants. However, on Reddit, I saw a review that said out of all the SGV spots, they find themselves going back to Mr. Baguette the most frequently. I'm so glad I listened because while I hate to admit it, I wholeheartedly agree. This also reinforces my lasting impression that high reviews on Yelp or Google doesn't necessarily mean much as some of my favorite restaurants are rated similarly to Mr. Baguette. This was my absolute favorite for the Special Sandwich or Dac Biet on this Bahn Mi food crawl that I've tried. Also, compared to Lee's Sandwiches which is even more commercialized, Mr. Baguette knocks them out of park! I guess I saved the best for last. Their bread is my exact preference, the type that will cut the roof of your mouth crust without being stale, a good medium soft interior without being too thin or too bready. Their cold cuts are delicious. Just shy of a little pate for the prefect Bahn mi but you can add more for an additional cost. You can request extra mayo, cilantro and peppers for free which I highly recommend. The sandwiches are assembled and neatly layered in a very aesthetically pleasing way but also so you get consistent bites each and every time. The staff was nice and even asked if I wanted their current promotion instead which comes with the sandwich and also a drink of your choice which would save you some money vs. ordering them separately but I'm trying to cut down the sugar so I opted for just the sandwich. I enjoyed this so much, I'm planning on coming back later on to grab another!

Mr Baguette has 4 locations now! This one in Rosemead, Monterey Park, El Monte, and Westminster. This one has a Lee's Sandwiches across the street too. I stopped by for lunch, and it wasn't crowded at all. It seemed empty because there was a lot of space and empty tables. Half of the bakery case was empty too. I got the cold cut combo with #1 sandwich and iced milk coffee for $12.50. They called my number literally within one minute. Super fast when they're not busy. Sandwich was good. Baguette was crunchy and ofc ripped off the roof of my mouth. Iced coffee was bold, thick, and colored darker brown than I expected. I'd come back, but first I want to try other banh mi spots. The price seems a bit high. Parking: private lot behind the building. Sign says limited one hour. Credit card/tap accepted! No bathroom that I saw

The original location.... It does a good business. The Best Buy is always the simple baguette. Still only for $2.00. The other best deal here is the Set A. Three mini sandwich for about $9.99. I ordered the ham and egg, the chicken and the turkey veggie. Too much foods to eat in one meal. I was sandwiches all day yesterday. I don't mind because they were good. Ray out!

The bread was pretty hard and small (diameter wise), but it's not terrible at all, sandwich was pretty long. It really depends how you like the bread and its use. Obviously, this is better eaten day of. Banh mi was decent. I don't hate it. Loved the pate in the sandwich. I do know some family member who loves this type of bread over the fluffy soft bread, so I'd recommend this for anyone who likes a more crunchy bread. I didn't realize how long the baguette was but that was fine. I needed some for Vietnamese beef stew at home. If you make Vietnamese curry or beef stew at home and need bread, this bread would soak up the flavor really well. Don't leave the bread for more than 2 days or it will actually become hard. Food aside, there were quite a bit of people coming in and the place felt pretty chill. Would I come again? Sure, I'd go back.

There's a few things I love about this place that just makes it stand out: 1. They have special meal combos or promos going on one after the other, AND they provide an end date for those promos. So you let people know in advance when it goes on until. I have seen places where they only say limited time and I don't like it. Like what if I drive all the way there and they say no more? So THANK YOU MR BAGUETTE or whoever that came up with this idea of not only having promos but stating when they end and have a set date!! And the promo usually last quite a good amount of time which I like, so most people have the chance and time to try out. 2. I love the pickled radish already in the sealed bag. The only con is I noticed when I pick up my banh mi at the counter, the tip of my banh mi is touching the counter, because the bag does not fully cover the whole banh mi. I would find a way to improve that. But I love this little corner baguette shop, they put a good amount of pate and mayo and that makes the sandwich good. So pls continue to do that. I think if patio seating is brought back there might be more customers as I do know most people go to Lees across the st bc of more seating and convenience.

They make the best baguette in town. However, needs to tend to the cleanliness. The vent are so dirty.

When it comes to Vietnamese sandwiches (bánh mì), Mr. Baguette is easily my favorite spot in the SGV. Their bread is always fresh and consistently delicious, which makes all the difference. The coffee is surprisingly good too--worth grabbing if you need a caffeine boost. Lines are usually manageable, but ordering online is the best way to skip any wait. The space inside is roomy and comfortable as well. Highly recommend!

Can't go wrong with the Baguettes here. Three kinds: Regular, Soft, Sesame.

Not my first choice for banh mi sandwiches, but I like Mr. Baguette BETTER then LEE SANDWICHES down the street. I got a grilled pork banh mi for my hubby and he enjoyed it; I had a bite and wasn't impressed. Mine was the banh mi with Vietnamese cold cuts and basically the overall taste was bland, dry, very skimpy on the pate. Missing the mayo, Maggi seasoning, and SALT! They do have good baguettes here - 3 different kinds: regular, soft, sesame. This place isn't stellar, but it does take care of the banh mi craving - kind of. CASH/CREDIT accepted Parking available in private lot.

They have a special combo for $10. Choose one of the 4 breakfast sandwiches and one drink (including the $6 iced coffee, fresh OJ...) fast service and fairly quick sandwich build. The egg was fried fresh upon order. Easy parking, fresh ambiance, open area. Next time will get the meatloaf and egg (which my gf says comes with pate) instead of just pate and egg. And the coffee is always a must, strong and not too sweet.

:: Food / Drink :: The banh mi sandwiches are decent, I wish they would distribute the veggies (cilantro, jalapeños, pickled carrots and radish) evenly throughout the sandwich and that they would be more generous with the pate lol Their breakfast sandwiches are pretty good, I usually get the Ham & Egg and pay additional to add cheese. It was nice that they have the $10 deal for a breakfast sandwich and any drink, especially if you were planning on getting their yummy Vietnamese Coffee or Thai Tea anyways. Their tuna sandwich was also good, they are generous with the tuna! :: Service :: Nice customer service every time. :: Parking :: They have their own parking lot which is super convenient. There's also street parking in front and to the side of the establishment. :: Restroom :: No restroom.

Hello Vivian. Thank you for the inquiry. It is more of an admin/back office reason. We made the difficult choice to utilize only one food delivery app (DoorDash) because as a merchant, none of apps have a UI simple enough to do accurate inventory…

What is the cost of a regular 12 inch? They don't state it on menu.

Baguette sandwiches only come in the 12 in size. The price listed is for 12 in

That's right, 5 minutes. Although I did go around 9:50AM so there wasn't a line nor another party in the dining area. Food: I woke up craving Vietnamese and this place didn't disappoint. The Bon Rieu had the depth of flavor that I crave. Honestly, I judge most Vietnamese pho restaurants by their Bon Rieu because some places simply use seafood powder in their stock to fake it. What results is a very thinly flavored broth that has very little umami. Bon Rieu should have THE MOST umami of any soup dish because of its tomato and crab base. That's how you can tell if a place is cutting corners. The Nem Cuom is huge and the dipping sauce is generous. The House Special Tea is reminiscent of a passion fruit green tea from a boba place. Sweetened just enough to not be saccharine. Ambiance: Quite small. I believe one of their main issues may be parking during peak hours as it shares a tiny parking lot with many other businesses. HOWEVER, neighborhood parking is plentiful and just around the corner past the Sheridan Hotel and Starbucks. Round the corner and you'll find plenty of parking throughout the day.

I wanted to try their rice noodle soup with a mix of egg noodles and rice noodles, and let me just say... the picture speaks a thousand words. What arrived looked quite different from what was advertised on the menu. Although most of the ingredients were there, it definitely wasn't as pretty or as generously presented as the photos. Rice Noodle Soup (Egg Noodles + Rice Noodles Mixed) Rating: 6.8/10 The soup itself actually wasn't bad! The broth was light, clean, and nicely seasoned without being too heavy. While I enjoyed trying something different, it isn't a dish I'd order again on my next visit. Now let me warn you about their sauté sauce... It is PACKED with flavor but also seriously spicy! I made the mistake of adding a little too much to my noodle soup, and let's just say my taste buds definitely woke up. A little goes a long way, so add it slowly! The restaurant itself is very modern, clean, and has a trendy fusion vibe that makes for a nice dining experience. As much as I appreciate the updated atmosphere, I always find myself gravitating back toward the more traditional, authentic-style Vietnamese restaurants when I'm craving comfort food. Service Unfortunately, the service on our Sunday visit was probably the biggest downside. Our waitress wasn't very friendly and didn't seem interested in explaining the menu when we had a few questions. Instead, she came across as if she was in a rush the entire time, and her overall attitude felt a bit off-putting. It honestly made us feel like we were inconveniencing her just by asking questions. Great service can really elevate a meal, and unfortunately, this experience did the opposite. Between that and the food, it's another reason I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return to this location. Overall, it was a nice spot to try once, but next time I'll probably explore a different dish--and maybe a different location. Happy eats!

Overall, we had a good dining experience and I would come here again.

Golden Deli has been my favorite restaurant in the SGV for years. It's a small family run…read moreVietnamese restaurant that's been around since the '80s, and it's easy to see why it's always busy. If you're in the SGV or surrounding areas this place is a must try!!! The restaurant is small but busy, it's lined with booths and shared tables. Nothing fancy, the food is the reason why people come. The staff is friendly, fast and keeps everything running smoothly. The menu is huge, the portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. I've never had a bad meal here. My favorites are the pork chop over rice, the beef banh mi and tom thit kho with dry egg noodles and broth on the side. Everyone loves the pho here but I haven't gotten around to trying it. The crispy egg rolls pair well with everything. Make sure to wrap them in lettuce and dip them in nuoc cham and you'll see why they're a must try. No reservations so expect a wait. Get there early to avoid the long line. They're open everyday from 10am to 8pm, except Wednesdays. Parking in the shopping center can be tough but there is plenty of street parking nearby. They have a second location in Temple City but I'd stick to the OG San Gabriel location. Try Golden Deli for amazing Vietnamese food at a reasonable price.

Im no expert on Vietnamese food, but the egg rolls here can't be beaten. Super crispy outside,…read moregenerously filled and paired with a delicious dipping sauce I was hooked instantly. The pork chop didn't disappoint either. Also super crispy, but tender and juicy. It was plated over white rice and cucumbers which brought the whole dish together beautifully. The Pho was good, but the broth was milder than I expected. Definitely not the best I've had. Servers were laidback and friendly. They helped me narrow down my options because I was overwhelmed by the menu size. I'll be back for more.
