I've been coming here for years and many things have changed (not in a good way). The food was good, but the service was especially poor during our visit today. We didn't get the house soup that was included in the dinner combo and when we confronted the waitress she said that the house soup is not included when ordering a soup as part of that combo. This was no where listed on the menu, it seems as if she just made up this rule on the spot. We were also unaware that banchan refills are an extra charge and if you ask for a takeout container, it's an additional 50 cents. It seems the business is nickel and diming and have also greatly increased their prices. Got the combo LA Galbi and Bibimyeon and split SO, which was good for the both of us. Bibimyeon: Perfectly chewy noodles in a light, not spicy sauce. Pairs nicely with vinegar and Horseradish mustard. SO likes it here better than SDR bc it doesnt have the fruity aftertaste. Galbi: Better at SDR. Found a hidden gem!! As a foodie I go to the source Korea Town. This hole in the wall will never be a stranger in our "go-to" place for Korean food fix. I got the spicy pork bulgogi and my wife had the bibimbap. Both were ridiculously delicious. We also ordered to take out an ox tail soup based broth. The base was decent but the meat tasted rough and tough, the quality of the ingredients just didn't taste fresh at all. :( My friend came with us who is a big foodie person, and she ordered their Budae Jjigae, and she was very disappointed. It was not authentic; barely any of the traditional ingredients you'd find from a legit Budae Jjigae. Typically you'd see ramen in it or assorted noodles, but she was given glass noodles with little to no spam or sausages. We asked if the noodles can be switched to ramen, and they said no; that's extra charge. The presentation didn't look like a budae Jjigae at all either. If you want legit Budae Jjigae just go Ktown. It's good to have Musse out here in the Valley because It's beats sitting in LA traffic going to Ktown in LA for Korean food and the food here is very authentic as well. Galbi Tang- 3.5/5- This was good. The bone broth was flavorful but the galbi was a bit trough. LA Galbi-5/5- Delicious and great size portion. The flavor was perfect not to sweet. We were craving a home-cooked meal since it's been cold, Galbijjim was at the top of the list on what to eat--then we found this place. The space is small and homey, easy to get to, and there's a parking lot, which I always appreciate more than street parking. The ladies there were nice and welcoming, but we were left by ourselves most of the time--just an observation. We got the Galbijjim combo with a beef bone soup on the side, and of course, banchan (side dishes). The flavor was fantastic! So good--the meat was well-marinated and tender, the rice cakes were super soft and chewy, and the vegetables were great as well. The banchan were also excellent--nothing bad to say about them. The price is similar to what you'd find up north, so I'd say it's decently priced for the portion size and the flavors that go into the meal. Like what the other reviewers commented on, the banchan options seemed fresh and pretty good quality. We ended up getting two turnip ones and 0 kimchi, which made us believe that it was a mistake. We split the galbi soup which was tasty. The only significant downside was it came in a very subpar container to the point where half the soup had leaked out already... If I lived here, I would've been more vocal about this because it is pretty unacceptable to have half your meal leak out of its packaging. So beware if you order the soups! Lastly, we shared the galbijim which was very tasty. The portion was huge with a lot of rice cakes and the potatoes. It was a great Korean option in the area! At first things seemed like it was going to be a great meal. The waitress instructed us about where to correctly park since the location was a bit confusing. We were eating with a young toddler and were not offered a high chair upon arrival. The food was very bland as far as Soon Tofu tastes and the Banchan was very lacking in terms of offerings. We ordered the Beef Soon Tofu and Seafood Soon tofu soup. The ambiance was very homey at first, but things took a turn when we found a fly in our rice. In addition, the older waitress kept staring at us to an uncomfortable degree as if she didn't want us there. It took a while for the high chair to be even offered to seat the toddler in our group. To add insult to injury, the waitress stared at us when we were paying on the tip screen with an expected preset of 18%, 20%, 22%. When we asked for togo boxes as other past reviewers had suggested, the waitress said "two is enough" despite us wanting to separate the two soups and banchan. So not only is the food bad, but the service as well especially with the tip expectation for the mediocre food and service. The food was bland and almost flavorless. The service was mediocre and at times made us feel really uncomfortable with how much we were glared at in addition to the glaring during the tip and the cheapness of offering a third packing box. After paying, not even a thank you for coming was said. Don't go here. There are other restaurants that deserve your money and will actually give you good food and make you feel welcomed.
