I've ordered from Namsan many times over the years via delivery apps, and I finally tried it in person recently because it was late, not much else was open, and I had always wanted to see Namsan in person. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There wasn't much seating inside, but it was fine because there was only one other party aside from us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It seems like they're in full delivery app mode because they seem to utilize the seating area also as a storage area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was decent but nothing special...they have such an extensive boonsik style menu that this is to be expected. One pleasant surprise dining in person here is that they don't nickel and dime you to death with the banchan like they do on the delivery apps. Not sure if I'll be back in person, but Namsan is good option if you're looking for a restaurant that has an extensive menu and makes everything decently.

Spicy Pork Belly (제육볶음) Noodle Soup with Vegetables (잔치국수)

Food was amazing and the service was out of this world. The waitress was so nice she even took our food and packed it for us. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to eat authentic korean food i would rate this 100 stars if i could!!!

Highly recommend spicy pork belly and short rib soup! Their take out service is very good too.

They left me a passive aggressive note on my food "It's a service" because I didn't tip the restaurant for takeout on Ubereats (I did tip the driver btw). They left the kimbap box wide open and stuck their hair in between the two slices. Gross. Will never order from here again. Threw out the whole order as well. I don't know what they did to the other items.

Nice neighborhood eatery. They have lots of food choices like ramen, bugolgi, chicken and more. I got the fish plate which came with rice and Cole slaw. I got the macaroni salad too which was interesting. Not the greatest taste but gets the job done.

DO NOT GET GINSENG CHICKEN!!!! 100% inedible Ginseng Chicken Soup arrived through Postmates. The ingredients are old/mature (not fresh) and overcooked. It was disgusting! Ingredients: 1/2 a super dry malnutritious chicken. 2 baby sized guttery abalones including guts. No dates found only skin Poorly overcooked rice stuffing. Broth is dirty dark and super oily. I wish Buil Samgye Tang in Koreatown was on Postmates/Ubereats. They are the best in town!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a family restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I like to go there. Their food is delicious. Korean grandma is nice and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have traditional Korean style.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is clean and peaceful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Hangari Kalguksu is doing really well for themselves! It is good to see. There have been so many changes, but I am not a fan of the changes. What was once meticulously fresh prepared side dishes are now generic looking out of a jar side dishes. They have started to feature more things and have expanded their menu, as well as expanded their shop so that it is much bigger. Still packed! Parking is still valet and a hassle. The waiters and waitresses now speak perfect english, which was nice. Kalguksu is still very good. Overall, it feels more commercial than homely now. As a commercial restaurant, it is good. However, not a place I would travel for anymore. I can get this experience from most local spots. I am keeping this review at a 5 star, because it still is worthy of a 5 star. However, it is a lesser 5 star than 13 years ago.

I used to love this place. I first came here over 10 years ago, back when the restaurant was about…read morehalf its current size before the expansion. It was one of my favorite spots for kalguksu, so I was excited to come back. We visited on a Saturday around 2:00 PM. The first thing that stood out was the wait. There was a line outside despite there being numerous vacant tables inside the restaurant. I'm not sure why customers were expected to wait outside, especially during the current LA heat wave, when seating appeared to be available. While waiting, we were given menus. The first thing I noticed was the price increase. The clam kalguksu is now $22.99, which felt quite expensive, even accounting for inflation. Once seated, we were served the rice with doenjang paste and the three varieties of kimchi. Unfortunately, I found almost all of the kimchi to be noticeably saltier than I remembered, with the exception of the radish kimchi, which was enjoyable. I honestly don't remember the kimchi tasting this salty in the past. It even made us wonder whether it was intended to discourage customers from requesting refills, though I hope that wasn't the case. We ordered the new beef rib kalguksu and the clam (bajirak) kalguksu. The beef rib broth was overwhelmingly salty for our taste, to the point that I mentioned it to our server. The hand-cut noodles themselves were still excellent, but I also noticed that the clam kalguksu contained significantly fewer clams than I remember from previous visits--roughly half the portion I used to receive years ago. The noodles remain well made, but it's difficult to justify the current price when the portions seem smaller and the broths are considerably saltier than before. What originally made this restaurant special to me was its fresh, clean-tasting broth, flavorful kimchi, and generous amount of clams. Unfortunately, my recent visit didn't live up to those memories. With so many excellent kalguksu restaurants in the area, I don't see myself returning. I understand that restaurants evolve and may adjust recipes to appeal to a broader customer base, especially since most of the diners during my visit appeared to be non-Korean. However, I genuinely miss the balanced flavors, generous portions, and value that made this restaurant stand out years ago.

Quiet, intimate, clean. Honey butter chips: For me they are a must try. Very sweet and unique and perfect for snacking during the meal. Thin, crispy, flavorful. Scallop pancake: the scallop pancake works so well, the scallop is crunchy and the side of sauce goes very well. Tuna tartare: I would definitely order this one. The bone marrow is a very subtle but nice addition, the tartare is dominated by the sesame oil and needs nothing more. Tartare comes in a generous portion Pork jowl: must order if you like pork. Good quality, cooked perfectly, pairs really well with the chili oil. So good with the accompanying rice Corn latte: order if you like unique desserts. It is sweet, has the hint of saltiness from the foam, a very faint corn flavor, the jelly adds great texture especially paired with the coffee flavored bed of shaved ice. I loved it but it's not for everyone

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
