Was craving some homestyle Korean food a while back so I ordered for pick up from here. I ordered the arrowroot noodle salad with bulgogi, the spicy seafood soup and the tripe. I ordered a bunch of different banchan and that was arguably my favorite part. The arrowroot noodle salad was super tasty and the bulgogi had great flavor, if not the best quality meat. The spicy seafood soup had good flavor to the broth, but most of the seafood inside tasted like it had been previously frozen and wasn't super fresh. I was not a fan of the tripe dish at all. I also had the stir fried squid and pork belly, which was fine but could've been spicier. For dessert, I ordered the sesame balls, which were super tasty. Not overly sweet and crispy on the outside but still chewy, if a bit greasy. I wish I could give this place a 3.5. The folks working here were super friendly and the food was ready pretty quickly. Prices were decent and the portions were generous. It's in a small plaza so there were a couple parking spots available for take away, but I'm sure if it was for dine in, parking would be a challenge. read more

I ordered tuna kimbap and marinated beef kimbap through Uber Eats. The food didn't satisfied me at all... I added extra tuna like they instructed. But there were very little amount of tuna were there. Somehow the food smelled so bad. Almost like they haven't cleaned their kitchen for a long time. Like all hidden gems in LA Namsan is tucked away in a strip mall in ktown. Parking is rough but there is a valet parking attendant. So don't waste your time and stress. Unlike other spots Namsan doesn't focus on one dish in particular but offers a range of Korean comfort foods. We got the kimchi beef stew, short rib soup, braised short rib, spicy pork bulgogi and ddukbokki. The portion sizes here are HUGE. The soups are served in a 1 foot diameter metal bowl! Perfect for you to really get intimate and steaming your face in the rich deep Korean aromas! If this doesn't cure your hang over nothing will. The braised short ribs are soft tender fall off the bone all marinating in the sweet brown glaze of a sauce. Heaven. Also in the dish there are big soft disks that we thought were pineapples but turned out to be radishes. Nice gelatinous/fibery texture to soak up all of the sauce. Spicy pork bulgogi is served on top of a sizzling cast iron plate with a medley of onions and peppers. Spicy marignate and sweet onions yum ddukbokki nice soft rice and fish cakes in a sweet sauce with a subtle after burn. Comfort. Service is very comforting with a loving host who loved serving up smiles and laughs. She even gave us red bean sesame balls for dessert. We did go with a Korean speaker so that helped. The shrimp tempura still had all the skin and head on it...it was really a waste because you had to eat the tempura off first, that way you don't choke on the skin. My guy had to ask them to take it back coz I wasn't used to eating the skin, they said that was the normal way to eat it. He even pleaded with them and said I wasn't even Korean. First off, my friend wanted to eat at this place to bring back old memories. So we ended up coming here and got sat down quick. I should have checked the Yelp reviews but I didn't. I ended up ordering a seafood soup and friends got chicken and some other stuff. We were hungry and just wanted to eat. To get refills, it took awhile to get some service. But we were like whatever about it. I asked for the seafood soup to not be so spicy but the soup was extremely spicy and tasted like powder. Honestly, it was hard to eat. I had to buy to go boxes. They're not free here. Also, even if you ask if you can split the check and the lady says yes, she won't end up doing it. The point is everything was okay until I finished paying for the meal and the lady started asking for her tip. It caught me off guard. She was literally making a scene about it and forcing to give a tip. It was unnecessary. I was hesitant about writing this review but the service was not okay. This place is my guilty pleasure when I'm wide awake at 3 AM and craving Korean food. I usually order delivery from them since it's convenient but I've also gone in a few times to order. Aside from the slight language barrier, the folks running the restaurant are super kind and really make sure they make the food exactly how you'd like it. My go-to is their chicken bulgogi. I can't eat super spicy foods a lot so I usually order mine with a note to make it mild and they always follow through while keeping the chicken just as delicious as it would be with the spice. They give pretty well sized portions that could be shared between two people if wanted. The chicken bulgogi also comes with a small side salad with a tasty, tangy dressing, a box of steamed rice, and a set of 5 banchan (side dishes). This is one of my go-to places and will continue to be! Bless their 24hr open hours! read more

Wow, their menu is crazy. They almost have everything! From drinks including smoothies and coffees to most of korean foods and fried foods. They also deliever within Koreatown so thats also convenient. They are open 24 hours! The food is good in general for some but not all. Some are way too salty and too strong becase of excess use of seasoning. Price is considered cheap so you may be ordering a lot more than you can consume. Came here with coworkers for lunch on a Friday. We got to the place a little before 12 and the place was fairly empty but it looked like the staff was cranking out a bunch of to go orders. We ordered our food - I got the spicy chicken bulgogi and my two coworkers got the spicy tofu and spicy seafood soup. We waited a while before we got those korean sides - maybe 15 minutes. Then our food came out shortly after. I was a bit peeved because I had to rush back for a 1 o clock meeting and I was late but the ladies apologized and gave us a complimentary veggie roll. Intro Scene: So it's 3:30am and I'm walking home. All of a sudden, I stumble upon a 24 hour sign and find myself in front of Namsan. I immediately thought, "could this be another late-hours KBBQ?!" After a quick look, I realized it wasn't and was saddened. Nevertheless, I walked in, unable to foresee the treat that my tastebuds would soon receive. Service: At first, the woman who took our order, Vivian, seemed disinterested in helping us. I'm happy to say that she (~within 10-15 minutes) warmed up to us and by the end of the meal, we were all chatting as if we had been long-time friends. The service was great and she made sure we had everything we needed/ wanted throughout the meal. Menu/ Food: There is quite a few items to to choose from so it took some time to decide on what to order. I eventually ended up with banchan, chicken bulgogi, kalbi kimbap, rice, and steamed dumplings on the table. The steamed dumplings could've used a bit more flavor but overall, everything was delicious! There was not a single piece of food left on a dish. In my opinion, the food was priced quite fairly and appropriately. Overall, it was a wonderful meal. I would definitely suggest a visit whether you frequent Korean restaurants or not. Trying to support small businesses during these hard times. Makes it difficult to do so when the food takes nearly an hour to prepare, extremely greasy, and just not very well prepared overall. Ordered the Kalbitang and Beef Kalbijjim. Was told it would take about 40 minutes, but in reality, took over an hour. The beef ribs definitely could have used a little more trimming and cook time, as most of the meat was pretty fatty and did not fall off the bone easily. The cost of the kalbijjin was appealing, compared to other places, but you can notice the difference in quality immediately. Perhaps I'll try some of their other dishes that are harder to screw up, but with so many options in Ktown, this is definitely towards the bottom of the list. read more

Before i came through here, i read couple of the reviews and recommended foods listed by the popular section so i knew what to expect of this place. As many people have mentioned, this place seems to be heavily relying on take-out orders. Throughout my entire stay, all i was able to hear was the Doordash, Grubhub, uber eats, and all the other delivery app sounds. It started to get on my nerves at one point but there was nothing i can do about that since that is their business and no part for me to say anything. The app sound was one thing, the part that pissed me off the most is that if the delivery sound started going off, the lady would just run for it and into the kitchen and never appear again. It was very hard to catch her attention and it was frustrating because i needed her attention very badly. I got Kimchi Stew for my meal and that dish was very salty and spicy. I needed water to be able to finish the dish but she never gave me the attention. Across the space for customers to dine in, there is a LONG table set up just for the delivery orders and she'd have to turn her back on us to keep packing stuffs there and hand it over to the delivery man. The last reason why it made me give one star rating is because of the food itself. Normally, when i order a kimchi stew, i expect at least some pieces of meat to be in there but that wasn't the case here. I mean, i'll be fine even without the meat if the stew itself is really good but it wasn't and on top of that it was over-priced for three slices of kimchi filled with salty and spicy water. read more

Never again. Late night craving for some healthy chicken soup was a big disappointment. NO ginseng in the soup at all-contrary to their explicit description. Banchan sucked and special request ignored. Container was tiny-easily half the size they would have served in house, and not nearly enough broth. None of the ingredients like jujube or mushroom that were described were present-the essence of Sangyetan was completely ignored-they should be truly embarrassed. I ordered extra veg-they couldn't even be bothered to garnish it with more than two slices of green onion. I wish I'd driven to Ralph's and bought canned soup. The best thing was the soy cooked egg in the limited banchan. DON'T believe the pics you see in their reviews. It's a flat out LIE. Does this look like a $19 bowl of soup? It tastes like a $2 box of TJs chicken stock and looks worse. Oh-but thanks so much Namsan, for the over abundance of rice. That makes up for all the missing "organic" ginseng, "fresh" vegetables and jujube you promised. May a decent person with a cold in need of some real soup never have the misfortune of ordering your sham food. If I could leave a string of curse words I would, but I need to sneeze again. Can I just say: WAY BETTER THAN HODORI! My friend recommended this place to me and my other friend and I decided to eat here for dinner. When we got there, we were seated immediately and the server was super accommodating to us. She was like a mom, always making sure we got help. I ordered their donkatsu and my friend ordered their nengmyung and wow! It was super delicious! Donkatsu was super fresh and they gave me two, generous filets that were cut! It was definitely tasty, and the sauce on top was perfect. I tried a sip of my friend's nengmyung and it was very fresh as well! She also enjoyed her food. For the price you pay for, you definitely get your money's worth. The place is kind of a hole in the way vibe, but really clean inside! I love how for a 24/7 place, it's a lot cleaner than I expected. Parking is valet with a $2 flat rate. Not too bad, typical Koreatown rate. If you want some good Korean food at 2am, avoid Hodori. Deserving of more than 5 stars. Some reviews had us worried about this restaurant, but if you read them it is clear they may not be very familiar with Korean food and culture. To begin the meal we were given barley tea-- tipping us off to the fact that this was going to be a wonderfully authentic Korean experience (we are not Korean, but have traveled in Asia extensively and ate here with a Japanese native who frequents Korea) From there we knew we wanted Tobokki (a gochujang paste rice cake dish) but weren't sure what else to order. The waitress recommended the perfect accompaniment-- a kimbap roll that turned out to be a wonderfully jam packed medley of flavor and texture that we could dip in the Tobokki sauce but cooled down the spice in the best way. Before our food came the waitress brought us a small assortment of Banchan (appetizers) and when we finished the sesame broccoli she brought us more right away without asking. The food turned out to be delicious, it tastes like they make their own gochujang (red pepper paste). We also ordered the bone broth ramen, but had to take it all to-go because the Tobokki plate was so big. But that was delicious as well! At the end we were already beaming with joy at the wonderful feast, but two things brought that joy even higher. First, the price was ridiculously low for all the food we received. Only $35 for three entrees and tea and banchan. Second, the waitress gave us the cutest hug and set us on our merry way. So yes, 10 out of 5 stars for Namsan. Was going to go to the Yeob Dduk in the same lot but there was a line so we came here as a group of 6 for a late night post-karaoke (Young Dong Music Studio next door!) dinner and went through an EXPERIENCE. We were instantly seated and given the menus before someone who looked like the owner came over to our table and told us "just for tonight, if you leave a good review and photo on yelp, we'll give you half price for one dish." I had my review ready for the check a few minutes after this and it never came! The 6 dishes we ordered never came! We waited and waited and waited and waited and they gave us our food a long hour after we were seated. The owner then asked me for my phone to take a picture of my food FOR me (and pushed the "only GOOD review, yeah?" idea) and as I got up to pay, the woman behind the counter still had the audacity to ask us "no tip, huh?" Food was overcooked and wait was extremely long despite us being the only other group there. Wait staff was friendly but that didn't cover for the service and food.
