She stopped by our table to check on us and we were very pleased with her service. She did not rush us and she made sure that our food was to our liking. My daughter is very picky but she loved her Pad See Eew and even her Thai tea (she only orders the same thing at her favorite place) until today. I've been coming to Natalee Thai for 30 years and I conclude this place is played out and done with. The service was horrible, the place is clearly under new management. The staff were aggressive and the waiter yelled at our table when we simply asked for a side of rice. The waiter spoke with a strong New York accent and a very insulting demeanor. His attitude was trash. He didn't even bring the rice, we had to ask the busboy. Then when it came time to pay the bill, the guy was again very aggressive with the old electronic payment intimidation game. It was absurd. Ironically, we had just arrived in LA from Thailand that day, so we know what good Thai food and wait staff service looks like, and this ain't it. In fact, there were literally no Thai people on staff, just a bunch of gruff NY or New Jersey mugs who could care less about the our dining experience or the food itself. Larb salad is chopped chicken with red and green onions, cilantro, and roasted rice kernels tossed in our own Thai lime-garlic dressing. Served with baby romaine lettuce leaves. This is awesome. Comes out spicy too. Basically, you put the lettuce and everything into the romaine lettuce. It's basically a protein thai sandwich. The highlight dish of the night. For the main course I ordered the Yellow California Chicken curry spicy. My friend ordered the Tom Ka chicken soup but not spicy. They incorrectly swapped the spice levels; my curry was not spicy, and my friend's soup was very spicy. The Yellow Curry: Not a fan. The cut chicken was super premium and juicy. Some of the most tender chicken, but the broth just wasn't up to par. Also, why only potatoes and carrots? Where's the onions like other yellow curry spots have? No spice whatsoever. I've been coming to this place since a kid and my mother chose it as the venue for Mothers Day dinner since it's been awhile. We got the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Heavenly Mixed Rice, Sweet and Sour Beef, Fried Spare Ribs, and the Siam Spring Rolls. Everything was exquisite in addition to the service and the ambiance of the place. It's never really empty when you frequent it and the building architecture inside and out has always been a vibe. I feel like I've sat in all four corners of the joint, and eating out front is enjoyable. My new favorite Thai place! I love how there are so many options, even though this made it hard to choose haha. I really enjoyed the sate (beef and chicken). Both were so tender and flavorful and I really enjoyed the peanut sauce it paired with. It also came with pickled cucumbers and onions which were refreshing and paired well with the dish. The Massaman beef curry was so flavorful and the meat was so juicy and tender. The sauce was absolutely perfect and I enjoyed every bite. It started off well with the waitress conversation, she was very friendly but upon ordering my daughter did not get what she ordered but we decided to keep it instead of sending it back. So we just ordered what she wanted and the waitress was holding g the menu but didn't disclose the price. My daughter said it was $17.95 but when we got the bill we were charged $28.95 for a small plate of Kimci and beef and the rice was an extra $2.25. What a rip off it was not good nor was it worth $28.95. When we brought it to her attention she said well I showed you the menu and the price was correct. No offer to adjust considering we got the wrong item in the first place. Another item I got only contained 2 shrimp so I had to pay for 4 more just to get a decent helping. Wow! This place is really overpriced for the helping size and customer service can be a little more accommodating especially on a first visit. I will not recommend this place nor go back myself. I've been coming to Natalee Thai for years and usually love the food, but last night was a disappointment. My chicken satay arrived barely warm and very undercooked (pink inside). I let the server know and showed her the bright pink meat and she replaced it, but the second order was still slightly pink--at that point, I was over it. Egg rolls were overly peppery, and the yellow curry, which my daughter specifically requested mild, was very spicy. Fried rice and a virgin piña colada were good. As disclosure this review is two months late. After moving to the West Side a year ago. I was desperate to find good Thai and authentic Chinese restaurants. Someone suggested Natalee Thai on Venice. After researching and noticing that they had a popular Beverly Hills location. I decided to try Natalee's Thai on Venice. The first three visits were amazing with great service and fantastic food. However something has happened at this location;especially the quality of delivery orders. I've received dishes with scorched eggs, a mystery green stuff, shrimp dishes with 3 shrimp, portions that didn't fill the container and sadly a beef dish that smelled so bad the Door Dash Driver commented on the smell and offered to return it. Also when asking for "Thai Hot" was given the little packets to "Do It Myself"??? I get it, most patrons don't really mean hot or authentic but I do! Needless to say, I have not been back to Natalee's Thai on Venice. It's really too bad that the food quality has declined. Will I try Natalee's again??? We ordered Kha Moo, and when it was served, we were all amazed by the portion size. It was huge and absolutely Instagram-worthy. The meat was not only tender and juicy, but also flavorful and perfect to go with rice. However, I'd suggest sharing one portion between two people, because the portion is truly massive. The Pad Thai turned out to be unexpectedly delicious, seasoned exceptionally well, making it a dish that you can't stop eating. Plus, the portion was generous too! Natelee's fried rice was probably the most disappointing dish of the meal. All I could taste was a strong basil flavor, soy sauce, and rice. It was quite bland and unimpressive, and after about half a plate, I couldn't continue eating because it lacked flavor. Whenever my mom visits from Florida, she insists on coming here for the ping fish, crab pineapple fried rice, and Thai tea. We always start with the seafood soup with coconut milk--so delicious! I've been coming here since I was a teenager, and now, decades later, it's still my favorite. Yes, I've tried other Thai places around Los Angeles, including the Nathalie Thai on Robertson, but I always find myself coming back to this location. The flavors are consistently excellent, and the food is just as delicious as ever. While I used to order the same dishes every time, over the past year I've branched out and discovered some new favorites on the menu. Nathalie Delight: 3.5/5 I usually swap out the shrimp cakes for more beef satay--that's just my personal preference. Seafood Soup with Coconut Milk: 4.5/5 Typically, the soup comes without coconut milk, but we always add it, which gives the broth such a rich, delicious flavor. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend doing so. We usually pair it with white rice. Ping Fish: 5/5 If you're sensitive to spice, just ask for it mild or with less spice. It's always perfectly cooked. Crab Pineapple Fried Rice: 4.5/5 This rice has generous chunks of crab, making it my mom's favorite dish and one of my top fried rice options. Whatever sauce they marinate this in makes this satay my favorite and I love the curry sauce that it's topped with. I sometimes just eat this with white rice and the pickled cucumbers. perfect meal Service: The service is generally fine--you get your food in a timely manner--but there are times when the waitstaff doesn't check in often enough. Sometimes, we've had to wait for condiments or other things to be brought to the table, even when it's not particularly busy. Cleanliness: On my last visit in August 2024, I noticed that the cleanliness hasn't improved. The plates and utensils are scratched and worn, and the chopsticks were dusty, which raises concerns about what's going on in the kitchen. While the food is great, this issue is making me reconsider returning. If I were to find another Thai restaurant that serves similar dishes--like the ping fish and seafood soup with coconut milk--and maintained better cleanliness, I'd likely switch. Nathalie Thai really needs to update its atmosphere and pay more attention to the details that matter to customers. Final Thoughts: For the food alone, Nathalie Thai would be a solid 5/5, but due to cleanliness concerns, I'm giving it 4/5. My partner and I decided to order the fisherman seafood soup, and for the price we paid, we were shocked at the small amount we received. To make matters worse, the presentation was absolutely abysmal - the soup was served in a cereal bowl, which did not do justice to the dish at all. While the flavor of the soup was actually quite good, it was hard to enjoy it when we were so disappointed with the portion size and presentation. Additionally, the service left much to be desired. Pad Thai, Curries and Satays were really good but were a bit sweet. It's okay though. They have a full bar so that's great of you wanna just grab a drink. Their signature cocktail list is full of overly sweet cocktails made mostly with sweet DeKruyper liqueurs and Finest Call plastic bottled mixes so yeah that's not great. This is a very beautiful restaurant and it looks very modern and super high ceilings and I have never been to a Thai restaurant that looks like this. So it is very unique and beautiful. The dishes were tasty, including the eggplant, the vegetarian dish with a lot of vegetables and garlic, beef with string beans, and pad Thai. I wasn't a big fan of them fresh Spring rolls. That was because they were premade and a little hardened. It was kind of cold and the shrimp was very hard. I also didn't like the dipping sauce for the red spring rolls because it was more soy sauce based with a little fish sauce and it's a peanuts. Instead of the typical sauce that has fish sauce and vinegar and sugar water base. We had to buy rice because they don't come with the meals and they were already free wrapped up in tin foil for sticky rice. I didn't think the size of the rice was a lot either. But I thought it was fascinating that a Thai place sold sticky rice that was not dessert and it was good. The serving sizes were good enough and not too salty.
