I've seen the name Natalee pop up in many foodie groups when someone asks for a recommendation on the Westside. So when another restaurant was too busy on a Saturday night, we were lucky enough to be near Natalee. Totally thrilled with the flavors, service and speed. Shrimp salad, papaya salad, silver noodles and seafood soup were all on point and better than almost any Thai restaurant I've ever been to. Absolutely LOVE this place!!! They have great food and great staff! Everything is always delicious every time I go! I highly recommend!!! Small parking in the back but you can park on the street and I never have trouble finding a spot. Inside is clean and neat with enough seating. The Heavenly Combo is my favorite dish! read more

Atmosphere, decor, architecture, thai restaurant, sushi restaurant, bar, televisions, settings, tables, etc... this all makes for a nice environment to dine at in the Culver-Palms area but it's just too bad all of that are making up for the food. When it's all said and done, if the food is amazing and you have a shitty spot, 9 times out of 10, people are still going to rave about hitting up your current business establishment with much appeal. For me, I was just hungry! Plain & Simple and saw this spot stand out literally from an Italian, Thai, Mexican, Indian and another restaurant from across the street (their competition) and because it looked nice, I chose Natalee Thai. I'm glad I did based on this observation of establishment all while not peeking at my Yelp app for ratings. Only when I got seated by the hostess did I look at my Yelp app to help me choose something popular to eat while being adventurous for other choices. So what did I eat? appetizer round: WESTSIDE WONTONS : $6.50 : Fresh wontons stuffed with shrimp and chicken deep fried served with s/s sauce :: B - nothing more or less to this dish but it definitely satisfies the crunch factor! YELLOWTAIL HAND ROLL : $4.50 : Yellowtail sushi wrapped in a seaweed wrap with pickled carrots, rice & pea shoots I believe :: A - this was my fave app of the evening and it sure was delicious! NATALEE ROLL : $? (forgot - $8 +-) : Tempura shrimp wrapped in a california roll with eel sauce :: C - mediocre roll right here, nothing super special about it and the texture was a bit soft for my liking. entree round: WHITE STEAMED RICE : $1 : No comment necessary FRIED OVER EASY EGG : $2 : Comes with 2 eggs, goes great on top of the white rice and your entree. HOT STUFF CHICKEN: $10.75 : Sliced chicken wok fried with garlic, green peppers, chilies and fresh basil :: B - good amount of spice right here although I can handle more, lol. The flavor was good but even better with the fried egg and white rice combo all up in my mouth! GARLIC GOODIE BEEF : $10.75 : Beef wok fried with garlic, broccoli in a Thai sauce :: B - tons of garlic in here which I like but the broccoli was a bit tough, please blanch it longer. The beef tasted pretty good though. dessert round: FRIED BANANA : $4.95 : a yellow banana dipped in a sweet batter and deep-fried. Dusted with powdered sugar served on a plate with chocolate syrup, whipped cream and a cherry :: C - it is as described but the whipped cream made the crisp batter soggy. I almost wished they used a ripened plantain for a deeper flavor but it's all good. It still made me smile. So yeah, overall a decent experience with no ooohhhhs or aahhhhhhs but at the same time, no real disappointments... an A-OK experience like I said. read more

Natalee Thai, you fail. Your chicken was bad. By bad, I mean that it tasted something foul. Like a mix between dirty dish rag and molded gym socks. Wonton soup. A whole shrimp wrapped with a wonton wrapper. I mean, I'm not sure if this is good or bad. I love shrimp, but c'mon, really? Too lazy to put any other material... The beef salad was the only thing I was able to consume without the gag reflex. The spicy sauce was good. The pad see ewe wasn't bad either. But the thai iced tea? Disgusting. Like garbage. Our waitress was nice but we waited almost an hour for our food which was only 2 dishes on a Thursday night not very crowded. After about 45 minutes we were told they ran out of brown rice. Then when our food finally came one plate was fresh and hot but the other was cold. Very frustrating to know your food was just sitting there in the kitchen the whole time. I would have asked to heat it up but who knows how much longer that would have taken. It seems their staff and kitchen are not very well coordinated. So very unimpressive. The food, the service, the options, everything so weak. My unfortunate story with Natalee Thai started when I called from the car. Having had Thai food from oh I dunno, 50 or more restaurants over the years I figured I could stumble through an order without the menu. I asked about yellow curry to which they said sure, yellow curry with chicken. "No thanks on the chicken, can you just leave that out?" Now I've asked for that alteration a hundred times, never a problem. Maybe get a little more veggies, maybe tofu instead, I'll take whatever as long as it's meatless. So when the guy on the phone says "No, yellow curry can only be done with chicken" I was taken aback. Natalee Thai, congratulations on your award for 'Least Flexible Menu'. He told me the only curry they have that is vegetarian is a red curry. Not my favorite but whatever, I'm committed at this point so I say sure. Any fresh spring rolls on the menu? Nope, no luck there. I park and head in to pick-up the grub where I'm ignored over the first few minutes. They were busy, but call me crazy I don't think it's too hard to acknowledge someone with a polite "hello". Finally someone looks at me with an irritated "Another customer, great..." look and I tell them I'm here for my order. I wait, the food isn't done so I sit in a chair, thinking this food better be god damn epic for these hoops I'm jumping through tonight. I get my bag and get the fuck out, haul ass home, and prepare to dig in. Looked good but to be perfectly frank I've had better curry a bazillion times, not to mention from places that are slick enough to allow people to get ANY curry (green/yellow/red) without meat should they choose. If you're going to give the vegetarians out there one curry option you better be damn sure it's a good one, not the case here. Natalee Thai, looks pretty to the eye but rather bland and played out if you ask me. Rolled through once more a month later for a work meeting and found much of the same: meh food with meh service. After finding a couple top notch thai restaurants near my home, Natalee's has fallen a few notches. The building and space is unique in appearance. Can get crowded due to being pretty small. I think most people come here for the atmosphere. I must say I've never had a bad drink here. First time I tried the lychee martini. Tonight the caramel apple-tini. SO delicious. The bartender made a good one. I walked away from the bar without my purse, but God forbid if I wasn't guarding my apple-tini as if my life depended on it. Lol Had the pad thai and the mushroom chicken dish. Both were okay. The pad thai was standard. I like my food hot. It came out and seemed like it might have been sitting on the counter for a bit. Tables for 2 are quite small so it barely fit our two dishes, rice, two bowls of soup, and two cocktails. If we wanted a third dish I don't know where it would have gone...our lap maybe. Bill comes out with fortune and almond cookies. Feels like you strain for any sort of friendliness from staff, but they do end up opening up with effort. Bartender was cool. If you like your drinks, let him know. I'm sure he'd appreciate that. Parking: Street or private lot shared with Smart and Final. Can get crowded, but you'll usually find a spot. read more

A "friend" took me out to lunch last time I was in Los Angeles . We Decided on Natalie Thai as my "friend " highly recommended the food. The seating was prompt. Good. The tables were too small! I couldn't find places for appetizers plus drinks plus condiments and or my plate. Peanut Delight or whatever it was. Dripping in the much loved Peanut Sauce. Too much sauce, Marjie no likie too much sauce!. I felt sick after eating this for 10 minutes but the broccoli was really good. So was the chicken. Marjie likie! Regarding theft of my American Express information: Dear Natalee management, Perhaps you recall when we ate there, Jan. 2013, a fairly large party, and someone at your restaurant copied my American Express information and charged thousands to my account. I called you at least twice about it, but I believe it was more. At one point someone who identified herself as the assistant manager took down detailed information on what happened. I was supposed to get a call from the manager. Never happened. I called the cops too. You had no interest in the fact that someone working there -- either a solo act or a team -- was stealing from a customer or customers. I guess you figured it didn't cost you anything, so who cares? No one even said they were sorry. Holy crap, you are such jerks!!! And the food was barely edible. Dear potential customers, They only had my card about two minutes. They have these data gizmos now that can get all your info at one swipe. If management doesn't care, and this management doesn't care, they can do a lot of damage. They made all the charges at one place where they undoubtedly had crew members. Big charges. Thousands of bucks Big, big hassle. No one even called me back to apologize. The first thing I noticed upon entering this restaurant is the smell. The food smell is alluring and garlicky all at the same time. I was hungry and the smell made me more hungry. While there, I ordered the egg rolls for the appetizer and the Pad Woon Seen for my main course, which was pretty good. There was an overload of egg filler. In my noodles but the taste was good none the less. The egg rolls were vegetarian but a bit greasy. Service on the other hand and environment were also up to par and the staff was attentive. Even though thus place is located in one of the more ghetto parts of LA (aka Culver City - the part right off of Venice), the food is decent. I can't comment much on the service because I sometimes get their food as carryout, but the few times I've dined in, the service was just okay. The wait is usually pretty long, especially on the weekends. For an appetizer, I always order the Natalee Delight because it's a combo of beef sate, egg rolls, shrimp rolls, and fried wontons. The wontons are not really worth it because they're just stuffed with cream cheese, so if you're only in the mood for sate or rolls, then I would recommend just ordering those separately. The egg rolls are crispy and the meat is decently tender. Their wonton soup is really comforting on a cold day. The pad thai is slightly forgettable and not very authentic. My two standout dishes are the California curry (chicken, yellow curry, potatoes, carrots, and coconut milk) and the Thai Chicken. Both are super yummy and have the right balance of flavors! I've ordered the Korean BBQ beef here before, but that was a mistake because it really wasn't authentic at all, especially if you've had authentic AYCE bbq. They do have this bomb banana dessert here that involves lots of fried goodness, but it's gigantic, so make sure you share it with someone else! :) I think the food is pretty good here and the ambiance is decently nice, but it's definitely one of the priciest Thai restaurants I've ever been to! Most of the dishes cost around $9-10, so you can probably find cheaper Thai restaurants out there, with a similar quality in taste. To me, this place is a Thai version of P.F. Chang's for Chinese peeps - it's an upscale, pricier, and more americanized, but pretty good tasting restaurant. read more

This place tries to be a lot of things. From the outside (and partially from the inside) it looks very modern and trendy. There's a whole bar area that's somewhat separated and somewhat connected to the dining area. Then there are flat screen TVs everywhere (including the bathroom). So... that was kind of cool but kind of confusing. To continue with its identify crises, it is a Thai place that also serves Korean BBQ and Sushi. And not just a couple rolls on a small part of the menu, but a hole separate menu of sushi, and lunch specials that have sushi. But since it was my first time, we decided to stick to the name and order Thai. We shared the Pad Thai, the Chicken Curry and a BBQ decision (can't remember the name). Everything was fairly good (though the beef was a bit dry) but nothing extremely special. Despite the identify crises, everything actually worked together pretty well. I went on a Monday night so it wasn't too crowded, but there were very few empty tables. And the price, very surprisingly, was very very reasonable. I wouldn't go as far as cheap, because cheap Thai food is a whole separate type of place, but it very reasonable. I'll definitely go back (and probably try the sushi). read more

Odd that I came here on the same day I went to Vees Cafe. But I was at my cousins place and she wanted to go. I've passed this place for years and have never tried them so this was my opportunity. I ordered the Heavenly Combo and Chicken Chow Mein. Both were very good. I've been on a search for good shrimp fried rice (someone please help me on my quest) ever since Tin Sing in Gardena closed down. I think Natalee has come the closest with the Heavenly Combo. It's called combo because it comes with shrimp, egg, chicken, and beef. The next time I'll order it with shrimp only to get a true Tin Sing test. Next the Chicken Chow Mein had perfectly cooked noodles and chicken medallions that probably could have been seasoned a little. It was still good though. In a nutshell.. Awesome atmosphere, very modern, clean, welcoming service. Probably a good place for a date with a nice cocktail/drink selection to spruce up your blind date. In terms of the food, there's nothing about natalee thai that makes them stand out amongst the different option of thai restaurants on venice and in the culver-palms area. Definitely more overpriced than most of the other joints, but you're paying for the ambiance I suppose. My friend and I shared the following: -Tom Kha soup with chicken: Nice coconut milk flavor. Portion is definitely smaller than what I'm use to, but flavor wise was very good and had a nice mix of chicken slices, mushrooms, and lemon grass. -Spicy beef salad: If you like a more acidic dressing, then you probably will enjoy this. Thin slices of beef mixed heavily with purple onions and slices of iceberg lettuce. There's quite a kick in the dressing, so if you can't handle spicy, stay away. -heavenly fried rice: overpriced fried rice..nothing special here I probably wouldn't return unless i'm in the mood for drinks and thai food. I can definitely get better quality and more authentic items down the street for a much more wallet friendly price. read more
