Ew, I tried this one in Avondale with my grandma and we both literally said we will never be back. Could make better food at home or at Denny's. Nothing seems fresh, all frozen food. We got the seasoned biscuits and gravy, dry and two traditional plates with the penny potatoes (basically tator tots). don't waste your money. The atmosphere was okay just a little busy and you have to be on the look out for open tables. As far as the food we were highly disappointed. I didn't realize we were ordering a burrito of just french fries basically. That was %99 of the burrito. The tortilla was also cold. Could have placed the burrito on the grill before serving to be a little warm and toasted. The tot - chos would have been way better if the eggs wasn't so fried. I really wanted to like this cafe. Overall just an average experience. We got the matcha latte which wasn't good, just tasted like milk and matcha clumps (not even slightly sweetened). The hash brown flight was creative, but wouldn't go out of my way to get again. The best food was the cinnamon roll, but pillsbury is still better. Service wasn't very impressive, the girls working seemed over-worked and ignoring everyone. I have been following new penny cafe on instagram and TikTok and was so excited to try it! I love how they have some boutique-y type things you can buy here, and someone was doing permanent jewelry! Well I wish I had good things to say because we have been wanting to try this place for a few months now. I love visiting new places especially local businesses to try coffee. Over and over I would want to stop here and grab a coffee but just wasn't able to. Looking back it was a subtle hint from my subconscious telling me not to visit. I'm going to write this review just how I was treated, how I felt, and how my coffee and pastries tasted. For starters, I got a "CARAMELITA" and "COOKIE BUTTER" coffees. I've had great coffee, good coffee, average coffee, and bad coffee. This was terrible coffee. Cookie butter tasted like anything but, and the Caramelita? Tasted more like Ass-melita. It was brown, tasted sweaty, and very bitter, in all seriousness. A Cheese Danish and a Banana Nut Bread accompanied my coffees. The cheese danish was hard as a rock before I asked if it could be warmed up. Once it was warmed up it was pretty good. Soft, airy and quite nice. The banana bread was disappointing to say the least. Fell apart very easily (in a bad way) and lacked flavor. I brought my sisters with me and they tried some different things but I could only speak for myself. Now, the real reason I'm writing this review is because of an individual by the name of Memphis. That was the name given to me by another employee. This individual (Memphis) was, and I don't say this lightly, a horrendous example of someone you wished represented your business. This individual was very abrasive, impolite, and downright insulting with his behavior. From slamming/smacking a sign that said, and I'm paraphrasing, "Minors not allowed in seating area" when my baby Nephew was around to insinuating that I was there to steal drinks that didn't belong to me or my party. It was such an uninviting and uncomfortable experience. Memphis was a complete curmudgeon. Very very ugly attitude from this person. I made a manager aware and they said they'd speak with him but I need to let my fellow Arizona residents know. The drinks and pastries aren't great, and they taste worse when Memphis is around. Last time Memphis made me this upset was when they blew out the Golden State Warriors by 50 in the Second Round of the 2022 playoffs. In all seriousness though, I wish no one is treated this way ever again and New Penny Cafe takes a more careful look at how their drinks are made and their employees treat people. I wish I had pictures but honestly I didn't feel like having any keepsakes from this visit. read more

I am a Door Dasher and I have picked up food several times from New Penny Café. Every time I walk in there I tell myself wow... I need to eat here. This morning my husband and I went for breakfast. New Penny Café was everything I thought it would be. You walk up to the counter to order your food, they give you a number and they deliver the food to your table.. My Husband ordered the BEC-ky sandwich, side of fruit and a large iced tea. I ordered the French toast bites, side of bacon and small hot coffee with cream. The portions were definitely very generous. The BEC-ky sandwich had thick cut slices of bacon, a fried egg, white cheddar on sourdough bread. (You can choose your choice of bread). The side of fruit was literally a bowl of fruit. Very generous portions and beautiful fruit, very fresh, colorful not mushy or discolored. It was a big bowl of fruit with honeydew, cantaloupe, blueberries blackberries, strawberries and bananas. The French toast bites came with 10 pieces, whipped butter and syrup. They were very delicious, but I felt that I was eating a box of donuts for breakfast so I ordered a fried egg on the side. The fried egg tasted like it was fried in butter. YUM! My bacon was crispy and smoky flavored . My coffee had a very fresh blended smooth taste. My Husband's black iced tea was refreshing . We were so impressed by this restaurant. It lived up to everything. I thought it would be. The bathrooms were extremely clean. The staff was very nice. We met one of the managers Christie and she told us that the restaurant is owned by three women. They have little items for sale earrings, T-shirts, candy, and such. There is also a back patio for customers and their service dogs. The patio has heaters for the winter and misters for the summer. You can also sign up for their points rewards. We definitely will be back. Try this place. You will not be disappointed. No need to drive to Central Phoenix for a good breakfast! A lovely place to relax and chill. They have Tapas, brunch like, eats, that pack a punch in flavor. We ended up securing a spot at the cocktail bar. We enjoyed sitting over there, the barstools we're comfortable. The bartender was very nice and helpful. He offered up their cocktail menu. I happily obliged. It's 5 o'clock somewhere and it's a holiday weekend. I ended up getting the camelback mule. It had the right amount of spice and of course blackberries are chock full of antioxidants. Lol. It was delicious. For food we tried the BEC-ky sandwich on a croissant and the Taco's AM. The tacos were perfectly crunchy with a nice heat. Finally made it in to the new local spot inside the BLVD in Avondale. Let's just start off by saying this is what the area needed and loved coming in to support a local business. Staff was friendly, attentive and overall rocked it! The friend I came with has been here three times already, ordering the same-Açaí bowl, she's clearly in love with it. I tried the breakfast tot-chos. They live up to their name, the sauces in the dish also were very tasty and paired well. We also ordered their coffees- Copper Coin and Campfire latte; they were super delish and perfect to sip after the meal. Inside has plenty of seating and an adult lounge area. I recently met up with some friends for brunch at New Penny Cafe. It was packed even at 11am on a Friday! You order and pay at the register and they give you a number to take to your table of choice. Service was super friendly and our food and drinks were delivered to our table quickly. Note that you have to go to the pick up counter for coffee drinks. Very cute decor and lots of seating inside with convenient outdoor seating as well. I got an iced toasted cinnamon latte which was delicious. If you like shaking some cinnamon into your coffee, this is the latte for you. Flavorful and not super sweet. I enjoyed an egg and cheese sandwich on a jalapeño bagel. At Enroute it's mainly coffee and sweets, but at New Penny they have a full kitchen, coffee, and bar. They mainly serve breakfast, lunch, and sweets with tons of drink options. Excellent service and comfortable atmosphere! It has a boutique feel, comfy seating, and lots of natural light. I got the Mojave Vanilla Bean latte, and the Penny Potatoes which were perfectly spiced and seasoned tater tots with a chipotle aioli - delicious! Pricing was reasonable as well.
