I got the potato ball it was so delicious! I got the tres leches latte and it was my favorite super good! I also tried the mocha latte and it was very chocolatey so if you like rich chocolate drinks you will like it. My favorite sweet was the fruit tarte I loved the cream filling. I was looking forward to the strawberry croissant the most but it was ok as there was more croissant than filling but it was still good. Had to pick up party food the very last minute for a small get-together. Fortunately, Obra was not too far away from work and they had potato balls readily available. Each empanada is about $4, which is pretty steep for the size, but if you buy a dozen, you get two free. For a party of 6, I got the 6 potato balls, and two empanadas each of the beef&potato, chicken, veggie, Cuban, vegan, adn burrito. Out of all the empanadas we tried, our favorite was the chicken. The chicken has a mild, creamy chili sauce and caramelized onion that give the chicken empanada a burst of flavor, standing out from the rest. As for the potato balls, I like these more than Porto's. They're more expensive, but that's because they're a lot bigger and more packed with protein. The two sauces (spicy mayo and green salsa) come with a purchase of the empanadas and/or potato balls. Both are good and complement with both the empanadas and potato balls. You'll be provided with both upon purchase, but if you can get extra, I'd opt for the green salsa. Overall, I would come back to get some potato balls. Empanadas are good, but the price cannot be justified for me. read more

I saw a TikTok from an influencer claiming that this place had better beef and potato balls than Porto's. Found it to be a very bold statement and came to disprove them but failed. It is definitely a better potato ball! The meat is so much more flavorful and the ball is much bigger than Porto's. I was excited to try this place because of the high review. Tried a variety of empanadas and honestly ive had better. The empanadas has more dough than filling and the dough was under baked. I also tried the tamales and potato balls. The tamales was good but the potato ball was the same as the empanadas. There were more potato and very little filling. Bought cafe con leche and it wasnt a cafe con leche. Tasted more like brewed coffee with some milk. On the plus side the lady at the counter was quick and friendly. I randomly found this place when we Googled brunch spots nearby. We were going to eat at The Local Spot but we walked past here and decided to try it out. For one, this plaza is a VERY underrated & underwhelming one. Enrique's is located here as well AND their Mexican food is a delight !! Apart from empenadas, they have sandwiches, coffee, pastries and other food items. It is a year old and is very well maintained. The staff working there wrre very friendly and helpful. We went with the chicken (a must) along with the jalapeño and cheese empenadas; which come with chipotle sauce. We also ordered a chicken salad sandwich, a shredded chicken quesadilla and strawberry croissant. Honestly, there was NOT ONE ITEM that we did not enjoy. I would probably not try the shredded chicken quesadilla again. The empenadas were just every bite worth devouring. Amazing!!!!! I can see why their customer base comes there regularly for their empenadas. I would come back in a heartbeat ! For drinks, we got a mocha and sugar free vanilla cappuccino. The drinks do not disappoint. I love how this plaza has really won me over. I look forward to eventually getting The Local Spot and that Italian restaurant on the end. Empanadas are okay. The exterior wrapping is not as flaky as I'm used to from the Florida Cuban ones. Filling were good and sauce was great! We drove out twice to this place and the first time we came around 11am and they were closed. We came back today and after waiting in a long line, I saw many people wait in line and walk out. I knew I should've seen that as a sign. When I finally got to the front of the line I ordered a sandwich and a burrito and the girl seemed upset and a said the kitchen was closed. All they had was 5 types of empanadas and potato balls. We ordered a few just to try and get something because we were hungry and tired of waiting in line. We waited again for some time. I don't understand, the empanadas are ready to go and just sitting inside a display. That's fine, but when we finally tried the empanadas we were extremely disappointed, they were bland and hollow. They had very little filling and meat. It was so upsetting that we drove all the way out here for that. This place is not worth the hype at all. Hands down best empanadas in Orange County. It's a hole in the wall we found via social media, and I'm glad we visited. The empanadas are heavily seasoned, which we like. I came here when it was Cesar's Bistro (a few times) and they have change the place COMPLETELY. It is the same owners but they revamp it altogether. It is change to empanadas and bakery goods. They have unique empanada flavors, also they are oven bake (which I prefer, well my stomach does, my taste buds don't have a preference lol). I really like the change, and they will be adding new things to their menu. We tried the burrito empanada, and the stuff potato ball. I liked both things. First time trying Obra after wanting to for so long and OMGGGGGGGGGG I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I was! Their potato balls 10000000% kick Porto's butt. And I've been going to Porto's for 20 years. Sad to say I have no desire to go back. My Husband and I were too excited to take photos and ate in the car, parked in front of Obra after picking up our order. We ordered: Beef potato balls, chicken potato balls, beef n potato empanada, chicken empanada, rojo beef empanada, chicken curry empanada and for the grand finale...the Cuban sandwich. Now I don't ever eat ham. And this sandwich was one of the best things I have ever eaten in my entire life!!!! All of the ingredients were paired so perfectly and the fact that it had pickles just made it heavenly! I have never written a Yelp review this detailed and long because nothing ever amazed me. But this place will now be on heavy rotation when it comes to deciding on what to eat. I am going back in a couple days because I need another Cuban!
