By the time we picked it up and got home to eat, the lady had messed up our order. Doesn't teriyaki mean it also comes with chicken? And not just beef? The total was 21$ for 2 items and I think it's safe to say that we won't be ordering from here again, pretty disappointing read more

This place is a local "IYKYK" hidden gem for some amazing Teriyaki food. Shop and the owner has been around for years and there's a good reason why the small joint been around. From the outside it may look like a hole in the wall, but the food tastes homemade like your grandma made it. I get their Teriyaki Chasu pork bento/bowl, and that braised pork simply melts in your mouth with that sweet teriyaki sauce. I probably come every week now, right when it opens-10am sharp. I love the lady who works there~she is so accommodating and welcoming every time. I usually order #5, half teriyaki chicken & half beef with spicy sauce & veggies on the side. On the side, I order their fried dumplings & fried chicken. Oh and don't forget to add avocados to your beef/chicken bowl. So. Dang. Good. It might sound like a lot of food for just one person, but I'm constantly amazed at how I always end up finishing everything at the end. Not sure what to make of this place. On one hand, it's affordable, quick and the menu offers a lot of variety. On the flip side, you get what you pay for, as the quality of the food is pretty low. The chow mein noodles are really oily and heavy, the dumplings are undercooked and the teriyaki chicken is just alright. Nothing is really terribly bad, but nothing is great either. Apparently this place holds a lot of nostalgia for anyone who grew up in this area and for the great pricing alone in today's world, it's still worth checking out. read more

Found an amazing hidden gem that's been here since 1985!!!! Amazing teriyaki house that is family owned and operated. Mrs. K still takes the orders personally and has a homemade feel to these timeless classics made with love. Will be back here for sure! Loved the Salmon x 3 (since all 3 of my girls loved it!) The dining is also small but works well. This is definitely more fast food stop than restaurant. This restaurant does many things we would consider "wrong" in the restaurant industry. We immediately judge restaurants based on their looks versus their taste. I decided to try this place out given its history in the community. I ordered something simple, a regular chicken bowl with brown rice and green onions with a side on the sauce, something that you would order at a nearby chain like flame broiler or Waba grill. To no surprise, the chicken bowl with brown rice and green onions was bland unseasoned, and had no flavor. What was I to expect? What happened after was nothing short of a miracle right after I dunked 1/3 of the sauce over my chicken and mixed it up in my to-go container with my chopsticks. Simply, amazing. This may be the greatest teriyaki sauce I have ever had. As the front desk cashier checked in on me from time to time making sure that my experience was great, I devoured what was left of the beautiful dance of brown rice, chicken, green onions, and sauce. I can see why this place has been around for so long. It did not adapt to the times, that's evident. That's not necessarily a bad thing either. In an age where yelp makes or breaks small businesses, the community has held this one up, and for good reason. I will be coming to this place again, no question. Our walk in order was behind a mountain of phone orders. There's nothing more frustrating than to see one customer after another walking in and picking up their order while we just sat there waiting. The curry dish was the standard Japanese. curry with meat, potatoes, carrots and onions. The chicken teriyaki was tender but drenched with sweet Teri sauce. The Saba plate came with 4 small pieces of marinated mackerel. Due to their size, the fish was largely dry. The California roll uses a piece of imitation crab and avocado instead of the imitation crab & mayo center. Overall it's a good place for takeout but nothing to go out of your way for. read more

I miss driving down Commonwealth after class and getting a large teriyaki bowl. Large teriyaki bowl $7.00 Tax $0.54 Credit Card Fee $0.50 Total $8.04 Times are tough. Even though the container for the large bowl is huge, the rice is patted down into a thin layer. As a long time customer, I expect more value especially when every penny counts. Been patronizing this spot since 2001 when i first emigrated from mejico. I thought i wrote a review... Silly me. The value is superb. Price to quantity to taste ratio is unbeatable. The chicken is moist with minimal seasoning. The teri sauce is thick, sweet anx pungent so if your tongue is acute to flavor then get sauce on the side. The beef is good. Not to thin like yoshinoya style and not too thick like a steak. Bit more seasoning than chicken amd definitely recommend sauce on the side. If i get steak i dont use any sauce. Cali rolls. They pre-made from the morning. Its a good filler with all that rice. They sell em in two or four packs. Plus the combos come with a two pack. Mandoo (gyoza) are bomb. These my faves here. If you get a combo then you can add a four pcs for a buck or so. Combos. There are nine combo variations. Combo 5 is the biggest plate with a soda. Add mandoo for a buck and you have a feast for under $10. I get combo three i think. Basically a regular chicken bowl with two pcs of cali rolls and mandoo. Comes with soda. Soda is one free fill up.
