This is my favorite Hawaiian food in my area. I love getting the BBQ mix plate and a side of Spam Musubi. I love that it's made to order so you know your food is going to be hot and fresh. If you're in a hurry or don't want to wait a while I recommend to call ahead of time so by the time you go inside your food will be ready. The staff is really friendly here. They do have sriracha sauce you just have to ask for it it's already in a small container. Keep up the good work Ono Hawaiian BBQ I'll be back again soon! read more

This location NEVER picks up their phone. In the time of Covid, no phone contact is unacceptable. There's no phone que to wait in, there's no answering machine, there's no indication you even have the right number. I have never had Hawaiian food, but we were in the mood to try out something new and different for a change and thus we headed over to Ono. The place was a bit empty with only one other customer, but there were a lot of people eating outside so I thought that maybe they got their food and took it out to eat. After all it was a beautiful June evening in Upland. I ordered the small shrimp plate, which came with white rice, four fried shrimp, cooked cabbage and macaroni salad!? That was an odd combo for me but it all tasted good after I topped off with the two sauces they provided. One thing I would like to mention is that the guy taking our order was very nice and honest. I asked him if the plate I was ordering was good and he said it was. Then I commented that "oh you have to say that about everything right?" and he said "No, actually a lot of the stuff on our menu is not that good but what you are getting is good" So then I asked him about the Hawaiian drinks and he said that they were not good and overpriced. I love this place! The food is great and it is decently priced. The wait times are okay, but overall the staff is nice and they normally get my food out pretty fast. I was in a little bit of a rush for work and when I came in the power was out in the Colonies. I saw it on my ring app. The workers Cole and Alexandria were very sweet and apologetic about my food. I decided to go to Target and their power was out too!!!! I didn't realize the power was completely out in the colonies! But I understand why I couldn't get my food that day. Been a LOYAL customer for over 7 years. And seeing how this restaurant slowly evolving to worse is a shame. First off, I'd like to start by saying their customer service is God Awful. I went in there asking if they can substitute BBQ chicken for island fire chicken and she cuts me off as I was asking her and tells me "no sorry", with her eyebrows shrugged at me. Ok sure, not a huge deal right? Later, when my food was ready I asked her for extra sauce and she told "I already gave you". Will definitely not be returning back despite it being the "best bang for your buck" Hawaiian food you can buy. It's no surprise that the establishment is always empty upon my arrival. I Just want to say that this 5 star rating isn't just for Ono, I want to highlight a very special and incredibly diligent young lady named ALEXANDRIA. This young lady was the ONLY person working the front counter and literally put the establishment on her back for her ALL DAY shift. When I walked in around lunch time, it was BUSY, the line was out the door. She was ringing up orders, bringing out orders, addressing everyone's little needs and concerns seamlessly, and did it all with an upbeat attitude! All by herself! If I were in her shoes I would've definitely been exhausted, which I know she was, yet she didn't show it one bit. Kudos to Ms. Alexandria, keep up the good work. I just tried Onos for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting it to be like L and L, and so I didnt get the chicken katsu (I hate L &L chicken katsu). I ordered the kalbi (BBQ short rib) to go, no mac salad. The kalbi was soooo soooo good!! It wasnt as good as the kalbi from a korean restaurant, but it was still better than L&L. Usually when you order local hawaiian fast food, the cabbage that comes with it is there to soak up the oil and I usually dont eat it. But at Onos, the cabbage is cooked and tastes pretty good with the kalbi oil all over it. We've been going to this location for years, and it's just gotten worse as the years go by. If you try to call ahead they'll leave you on hold for 10-20 min or just never pick up again. They've recently been forgetting one or two things in our order or even just get the whole order wrong! I don't know if we're rating the people working, the frustration of the people rating it, or the food, but every time I go, I have no problems with the waiting, or the food. All of the food is made fresh, and if you'd rather wait 30 seconds for light-bulb food, then this is not your place. The servers are polite, the food is good, the prices are ok for how full you get, and I recommend the katsu chicken and sauce! My favorites include chicken katsu and hawaiian BBQ chicken. I don't care for the macaroni salad--tastes like mayo, so I usually just substitute with rice. I love the cabbage they have under the meats. Meals are a little less than $10 with the family meal (feeds '4' but I think more) for $28. Coupons do exist in the form of house-mailed flyers. Finally, quick tip is that if you love the sauce, just ask them for a 'container for the sauce' and they'll hand you a giant version of the sauce cups and a plastic bag. read more

When I ordered, the girl said give her 1 second and she would get me my drinks. Twenty minutes later I reminded her and she said give her a minute. She proceeded to sweep the mats and roll them up. Then without changing gloves, she made our drinks. It was 8 o'clock and they don't close until 9:30, so the mats could have waited. After 30 minutes, I finally got my order. It was not busy. Ono is okay, not great. I usually order the fried shrimp mini meal with an extra scoop of rice instead of macaroni salad. I'm not a huge fan of their macaroni salad. The katsu chicken is very good. I think the sauces make the meals taste much better. There's a sauce for the katsu chicken and fried shrimp then theres a darker sauce that I put on my rice.
