Very friendly service and variety of special thai dishes! The gai manow was a nice and crispy chicken, the inside was not a cutlet but ground up like nugget. The sauce on top is not as heavy as it seems and i enjoyed the fried veggie. The choo chee salmon was crispy and had a red curry sauce, needed side order of rice with it. Salmon was cooked nicely. The sukho thai noodle was had broth like tom yum but thicker. The variety of pork meats was good, and rice noodle soaked all the flavor. read more

sukho thai noodle - best dish, i would highly recommend. the different types of pork on it. the crunchy pork was my favorite and was extremely crunchy despite being inside soup rad nah zen krob (special menu item that started nov 21st!) - a beautiful and very unique dish. i wasn't sure how the wide noodles were going to be crunchy and wide but they were kind of like eating crunchy wonton skin. kapow chicken - decent dish, nothing too out of the ordinary kapow moo krob - solid pieces of pork belly pineapple fried rice - classic fried rice with a pretty strong curry flavor my party of 5 came on a saturday around 12:30pm and got seated with no resy, which was surprising that the restaurant was pretty empty. the waitress was really friendly and she came back to check on us a bunch, food took about 15 minutes to cook. honestly, a pretty solid experience and very surprised it was empty at that time and day. since there was basically only one other party in the restaurant, it was very quiet and enjoyable and the christmas decor was really cute. would definitely recommend for some new and unique dishes. read more

Had an early dinner here yesterday with a few of my friends. Arrived when they opened and got seated right away. Our party ordered the following: Tom Ka - Thai coconut soup that is spicy and sour hot soup Kapow Moo Krob - crispy pork belly w/ basil in a Thai and chili garlic sauce Hor Mok Bai Tong - their house special steamed mixed seafood with house made red curry, served in banana leaves cups Pad Thai Kung Mar Nam - pad Thai served with two grilled jumbo prawns Mango sticky rice Everything was delicious! My favorite was the Hor Mok Bai Tong. This was something different that I haven't tried at any other Thai restaurant. Overall, food and service were great. Came here with the hubby after coming back from Coachella! We were craving home made food after a weekend in the desert. Ordered the fried chicken, pad Thai with prawn and the pad see ew. Everything came out quickly and was delicious per usual. Quick service, attentive waitresses, most importantly delicious, good size portions. We were so full after! The ambience of this restaurant is great! We walked in for dinner on a Sunday with no reservation and were greeted warmly by their friendly and attentive staff and seated right away. We ordered the tod mun pla (fish cake appetizer), which had excellent flavor and texture, plus it was generous in size. The som tum (papaya salad) was really fresh and delicious and perfectly spicy. We also enjoyed the seafood red paste curry. Oraan left a great first impression on us and we can't wait to come back to try more item on their menu. read more

My friend and I were craving thai but wanted to try a new restaurant in the city. I was recommended by a different friend and decided to give this place a try. We decided to give three dishes a try. Sukho Noodle Soup: 5/5, would definitely come back just for this dish. The broth was so flavorful; tangy, sweet, spicy, umami with plentiful protein ranging from pork belly to charsiu, to ?beef/pork balls. Curry puffs: 4.5/5. Good appetizer, crunchy with good curry flavor. Nothing crazy in regards to new creativity. If I could, i'd try some of the other appetizers they have to offer. Have heard great things about the eggplant. Spicy ribs: 4/5, fell a bit short in my book. The ribs were still tasty, however there were too many flavors imo that didn't quite compliment each other. We also tried a few beers, the lager lao and dark lager lao. Both were great! Service was great. Staff was friendly. Ambiance was nice with detailed attention to cleanliness. read more

Had a serious craving for pad Thai and decided to give this place a try. Super happy that we did! Curry puff; solid appetizer. Both my son and I really like this. Came with four good size puffs, some cucumber and onion, sauce on the side. 4.5/5 Pad Thai with river prawn; the price difference between this and the shrimp wasn't significant so we opted for this. This dish had a good balance and freshness that I was looking for. 4.5/5 Green curry with meat; we were worried that it would be too spicy, so we ask for the sauce on the side. It was a good amount of kick for us! The meat wasn't too tender but still good overall. 4/5 Water; Yes, water! Clean lemon water. How many times have I picked up cups of water throughout various restaurants and put them right down because there are traces of weird smell that doesn't belong? IYKYK. Simple decor. Oraan is a cute, quiet Thai restaurant with nice decor, a good ambiance for a date. The dishes are not your typical Thai dishes. They take care to add flourishes to their presentation of the dishes, like laying down banana leaves. I've been for dinner and lunch and it hasn't been too busy. All of the dishes are very flavorful, the Gai Manow is a must! Dishes: Gai manow - well-fried chicken patty, doesn't seem Thai but it's my favorite dish here. Crispy Chinese broccoli was really interesting, like fried basil. Kor Moo Tod (Pork shoulder) - really good crispy strips of pork shoulder, comes with lemony fish sauce and sticky rice. Pork noodle soup - had multiple types of pork - crispy pork belly, cha siu, ground pork, and meatballs. The cha siu was really tender. I would eat this first, as the noodles got soft. The broth is a tangy tamarind flavor. Crispy pork belly - had really nice crispy pieces. Sauce was similar to the flavor of a basil chicken. Pad Thai with river prawns - shrimp a little mushy. When we put our names on the waitlist it said it would only be a 10 minute wait but we ended up waiting closer to 30-45. We were lucky we came early, by the time we left wait time was 2+ hours. The menu looks amazing and has plenty of clearly labelled vegan options. When looking at the menu posted on the outside window we planned to order the vegan coconut crepe dessert, but after being seated we discovered the window menu was slightly out of date and they didn't offer that dessert anymore. One odd thing when we sat down- the table was set up with prefilled water glasses, in addition to a full water pitcher. We were both really thrown off for some reason by the glasses already being full, but we did confirm with a waitress that it was intentionally part of the table prep. I ended up ordering the drunken mama with fried oyster mushrooms, which was amazing. Flavors and textures of everything were great and I especially loved the super crispy oyster mushrooms. While I would love to come back to try other menu items I am not sure the food is worth the 3 hours that some people are waiting, it's definitely really good but not THAT good.

Came by several times because we couldn't decide, but it wasn't a rushed feeling like they were trying to get you in and out (even with the long wait times). They give you a bottle of water for the table, so you don't have to ask. Food: While the food was okay, I don't think it was exceptional nor does it warrant the hours long wait times. Since it was in a soup, the steam and the curry sogged it up and wasn't super crispy by the time we mixed to consume. The pieces of duck were not exceptionally fatty, which was nice. There were only 2 pieces of fried okra, while tasty, I wish there were more. 3.5/5 rating. Khao Pad Mun Nuer with Soy Cured Egg Yolk - Probably the best thing we ordered. Since the fried rice is cooked in beef tallow, it's extremely flavorful and almost caramelized crunchy, giving pieces of texture throughout. It's like that mouthfeel of when you cook rice in a cast iron and have that nice crisp on the bottom, except rather than one large sheet, it's a bunch of little ones speckled throughout the rice. The beef was tender and melted in your mouth. Perfect with the creamy egg yolk and bits of fried garlic. The slivered green onions also brightened the dish. Would highly recommend this dish and if I came back, this would be the thing I order every time. 5/5 rating. Burnt Butter Kaya Toast with Coconut Ice Cream - Thick piece of toast with caramelized sugar on both sides, topped with a pandan?? sauce and coconut ice cream. Surprisingly light and refreshing. The flavors are subtle and nothing really smacks you in the face. The crunch of the, essentially, creme brulee on both sides made the dish sweet, but the ice cream and pandan?? dampened the sweetness of the sugar, making it much more palatable. 4/5 rating. Overall, I'm not sure if I would wait more than 20 minutes for a table here, as there are many other Thai places in the city that don't have the long lines where the flavors are more pronounced and, honestly, better. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't know if this place would stand so much on their own without all the influencers bringing business here.

Once in the city we simply walk throughout Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf and into North Beach. The Buena Vista is an iconic spot dating back to the mid 1800's. It's great to pop in, have an Irish coffee, and enjoy the vibe. We got seated immediately at the bar. Service was great and everyone was enjoying futbol. San Francisco looks amazing! Oraan Thai is a modern restaurant offering a creative take on Thai dishes with bold flavors! My favorite (and the most unusual) dish on the menu was the Gai Manow, a round, flat patty made of minced chicken coated and fried in a crispy panko batter, topped with a lemon cream sauce, and surrounded by crispy Chinese broccoli. This was unlike any other Thai dish I've had before and reminded me almost of Japanese Yoshoku ("Western food"), and the perfectly crispy chicken paired nicely with the lemon cream sauce. For our mains, the Moo Pik Kang were stewed pork ribs sautéed in an explosively spicy, aromatic red chili paste, mixed with coconut milk, bell peppers, fresh peppercorns, basil, and kaffir lime leaves. The Nuer Marakot was a juicy, sliced medium steak, topped with green curry and served over a mixture of bamboo, Thai eggplant, and carrots. Finally, the Pad Thai Kung Mae Nam was a generous portion of sweet, sour, and savory stir-fried rice noodles with egg, tofu, chives, bean sprouts, and crushed peanuts, served with two huge split and grilled river prawns. Though the noodles were chewy and undercooked, the prawns had a perfectly crispy texture and seafoody flavor, and the best part was (of course) the head! We had a great time here last night. I can say this is one of my favorite Thai place. Most of the dishes i've never seen before. My favorite dish is Gai manow fried chicken with lemon sauce. Now, with its new ownership and name -- and despite most of the menu items being the same, albeit on a brand-new, slick and colorful menu -- I've found that, at least with one of my favorite dishes, it just ain't the same. The Tom Kha Gai is similar, it's yellow in color rather than the traditional white at most other Thai restaurants, but it does taste good -- although I miss the sliced mushrooms, they're now more whole and shriveled. But my main complaint is my favorite dish there, Gai Pad Med Ma Muang, which, in most other Thai restaurants, is simply known as Cashew under the "sauteed" (or similar) section of the menu. This used to be one of the most delicious and, dare I say, magical dishes at King's Thai! But it has been prepared here into a bland uninteresting dish ... in a way, lacking the soul of the original preparation in the restaurant's former incarnation. Sadly, I think this is the first and last time I'll be at Nakorn -- when I'm in the area I'll most likely go to the other main Thai place on Clement near 5th Ave which used to be the sister restaurant to King's Thai and, ironically, used to be terrible but they improved their game tremendously about five years ago. I'll get my cashew chicken dish there instead.

The hostess let us know she had to clear the table to get ready for the next customers so we tried to quickly vacate allowing her to rearrange the furniture.
