A show that I perform i every year is located very close to Oren's Hummus, so once or twice a year I dine there. The best hummus and pita bread! Really, the hummus is the best hummus that I've ever had, and the pita bread is so soft and fluffy as a cloud. Ambience is very nice, yet still a fairly casual spot. When I have gone I've usually gone in a big group of 8+ and they have always been very accommodating to our requests to sit together. The raspberry lemonade is delicious as well. read more

We went on a Thursday evening, and unfortunately, followed a Doordash order, so our orders took over half an hour to come out. To add insult to injury, our takeout orders did not come with any napkins or utensils. We ended up eating on the street since we were told we were not permitted to sit in the dine-in area. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. We had a falafel bowl and a ton of sides. Everything was so tasty! The sides all complemented the bowl and could also be thoroughly enjoyed on their own. I honestly been super excited to try this place out because my boyfriend came here once and kept RAVING about how AMAZING this place is and after trying this place out, I can definitely second that. The hummus here is literally to die for and worth your time to give it a try. We got their Chicken Hummus Bowl and the hummus was sooooo creamy and smooth. Perfectly seasoned as well, ours was topped with nicely charred chicken that honestly paired so well. I honestly just want to go back and just try every single one of their hummus. We also got a whole wheat pita bread and white pita bread and let me tell you, I would use their pita bread as pillows if I could. SOO soft, fluffy, warm and airy. No other pita bread could beat this place's, especially their white pita bread. Absolutely addictive and even great on it own as well. We also ordered their Schnitzel De Noir and it was pretty good, it was basically a fried piece of chicken that came with a mustard/wasabi like sauce and a side of mashed sweet potatoes and string beans. Nothing too amazing about this but still good! The interior of this place is pretty nice as well, really clean, modern and spacious. My wife and I were finally shopping in San Francisco Centre after four months hiatus due to COVID19. Unfortunately, the upscale food court is closed and we needed to venture outside the mall. We worked by several restaurants in search of an open one with outside seating. Since we were in Palo Alto last weekend I thought Oren's Hummus on 3rd Street between Market and Mission might open with outside seating. Eureka! Oren's had open just 3 days before according to our gracious hostess and managers who were thrill to greet us. "Are you visiting or are you from here?" We replied "YES!" My wife and I live in San Francisco less than 3 miles away and my wife was born in Israel 20+ hours away. We have been enjoying Oren's Hummus since they open the first restaurant on University Street in Palo Alto. It's always excellent and PACKED with folks waiting to experience authentic Israeli cuisine from the fresh pita to the shakshuka to the variety of Hummus dishes and the eggplant in numerous combinations. Today we were happy our hostess and server was Laste! She was amazing! She promptly took our order and being outside our menu blow off the table and floated away into 3rd Street! She quickly ran out of the patio area and retrieved the menu from the middle of the street! Now that's impressive! Laste took our orders which included chicken Schnitzel de Noir entree which comprised of breaded chicken breast very crispy and prefect, mash sweet potatoes, garlic green beans, & Dijon mustard. Also we ordered Oren's Sampler included Greek Style Eggplant, fried eggplant, Labane (strained yogurt topped with za'atar spice and olive oil, Moroccan carrots with olive oil, garlic and Schug mild red sauce, marinated steamed beets in apple cider cilantro vinaigrette. All Excellent! So we highly recommend Oren's Hummus now with locations in Palo Alto, Moutain Veiw, Cupertino and San Francisco! It's truly feels like a little bit of Tel Aviv in NORCAL. We waited around 15 minutes to get our table (not good waiting areas so had to stand in a narrow hallway with other waiting for their table). Upon being seated, we weren't offered water or anything either and had to wait around 20 min to get our water. The food itself was pretty solid, I ordered the eggplant hummus plate which was really tasty and creamy. The French fries were also solid. The falafel was particularly dry, but overall still fine. While the food and rosé were yummy, I called ahead to inquire if there was a grace period considering Happy Hour ends 5PM, however the woman on the phone told me I needed to be seated and ordering before 5PM. I think it would behoove Oren's Hummus to be flexible or even have HH end at 5:30PM considering that office workers usually get off around 5-6PM, unless you're playing hooky. read more

Got the hummus chicken which is a huge plate of hummus topped with chicken, seasonings, and tahini. The hummus is a super thick and creamy texture, it dips so well with the pita. Every dish comes with 2 pita - you can pick wholewheat or white. I got one of each. The pita came piping hot, it was so fluffy and dense - perfect for dipping. We reached at about noon and after waiting for about 15 minutes, we were seated at a table. Anyway, coming to the good part - the food was excellent to say the least. HUMMUS JAFFA STYLE - This is supposed to be a thick, garlicky hummus. While the hummus was pretty great, the garlic flavor got a little lost. SAMPLER DISH - We got a sampler dish of the dips. While all of the dips were pretty great, the Babaganoush Eggplant and Romanian Eggplant really stood for us. TRADITIONAL MALABI - I was pretty excited to try this dish. This rose water milk pudding was delicious. It was silky textured and light. The nuts and shredded coconut toppings added a nice texture to the whole dessert. CHOCOLATE BABKA - The babka was visually stunning. And the minute that we cut into it, it released this beautiful aroma that made my mouth water. The bread/cake was rich and decadent. If you're looking for hummus, they've got you covered. Between hummus plates, pita, or rice bowls, there's something for all your cravings. The restaurant is spacious and clean, and service is pretty prompt as well. I decided on the feta fries, lamb hummus, and cheese boureka. They start you off with a pickled salad. It reminded me of the slaw that you'd get with an order of pupusa, but more sour. There are also 2 sauces on each table for you to use. The red sauce is less spicy but more flavorful. The green sauce just tastes like pureed jalapenos or serranos. The fries were pretty standard tasting. The ones on top were crisp, but the ones stuck on the bottom were limp. The hummus was smooth and thick. It required a little bit of force to lift the spoon that was it in. The lamb was sweet and didn't taste gamey at all, a pretty good contrast to the savoriness of the hummus. The boureka was so buttery and flakey. My favorite part of the meal was definitely eating the boureka flakes off my hummus. The one pita I got was delicious. Nice and chewy. I just wished I got my second pita because according to the menu I should've gotten 2 with my order of the hummus plate. Great Mediterranean place with super nice staff! I came here on a Tuesday night for dinner and it was pretty busy! The inside is decorated nicely with lots of light and chandeliers. We just had to wait a little bit and then were seated fairly fast. We ordered the Lamb Hummus, Traditional Shakshuka with Mozzarella and Pesto, and 2 of the sides: Babaganoush Eggplant and Labane. The Lamb Hummus came with 2 pitas, the Shakshuka came with 1 pita, and the 2 sides came with 2 pitas. The shakshuka is a huge portion size!! It is on the sweeter side, but the mozzarella was a great complement to the sweetness in it. Additionally having some of the sides was nice to balance out the shakshuka. Would definitely recommend the shakshuka if you like it sweeter! Loved the sides we got - both the babaganoush and the labane tasted great! We got to choose between whole wheat or white pitas and they were both great!! The whole wheat one is definitely a lot more filling (only could eat 1 each!). Delicious dinner! Came here for dinner on Friday and had a wonderful experience. The shop is located really close to Montgomery Station. My boyfriend and I were in a rush to get somewhere afterwards so decided what we wanted as soon as we were seated. To start, we got the jaffa hummus dip which came with a pita. As entrees, we both got pitas -- I got chicken and he got beef! We also got a beer which my boyfriend really enjoyed! Within 1 minute, the jaffa dip came out and man it is BOMB. I highly recommend! The jaffa is a bit thicker and more creamy which I really appreciated. I would say to stick with the dip size hummus unless you are with a larger group as the platter hummus selection is large portions. We both really enjoyed our pitas but I preferred the beef over chicken. We also both added fries in our pita and that was a must (only $1 extra). The table came with some dips which the waited failed to mention or elaborate on so I ended up setting my mouth on fire with one of them...beware of the green dip as it's deceivingly more spicy than it looks. It's warm, thick, creamy, and rich in tahini, and my favorite version comes topped with their tender, meaty pomegranate-braised lamb shoulder. Their hummus is served with rounds of warm, chewy, freshly-baked white or wheat pita bread, along with a red chili sauce and a green chili sauce, both of which added distinctively spicy flavors to every bite! Another one of their unique dishes on the menu was the Green Shakshuka, a skillet of two eggs poached in a spinach and kale cream sauce. The eggs had perfectly runny yolks, and the spinach/kale cream sauce reminded me a lot of the curry from an Indian saag paneer. Finally, we had the Beef Kebab, three oblong meat skewers made of ground beef and lamb mixed with spices and herbs, grilled to perfection, and drizzled with tahini on top! Everything from Oren's was super delicious, and although they've expanded to SF now with a downtown location, I thought the quality and service were better at their original Peninsula/South Bay locations. Warm, fresh, fluffy, and everything you want from a pita. I also tried the chicken skewer, which comes with a generous side of falafel, fries (which are steak style, cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, served hot). So, I'm a bit torn. On the one hand, they are known for their hummus, and it didn't strike me as anything "exceptional." On the other hand, everything else was tasty and fresh.
