I have only been to AYCE KBBQ spots in the past, so it was a refreshing experience to get a set amount of food and not feel the "pressure" to eat until you're sick! This was also the first time I have been to a spot where the staff cooks the meat for you, which felt very lux (although part of the fun of kbbq is cooking it)! It wasn't too crowded for lunch on a weekend day. Staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Easy to make a reservation on Resy and I opted to park in the Equitable Plaza parking structure for only $7.99 on weekends (and I believe weekday evenings). This is cheaper than the lot next to the restaurant. Very clean bathrooms too!! Let's get into the food - I believe we got the large Origin Special Set (says it serves 4 but we think it could've easily served 6). We took lots of leftovers (which is allowed)!! My favorites were the marinated prime bulgogi and the garlic seasoned prime short rib, but honestly everything was really good. The corn cheese comes with the set and it was SO GOOD! It also comes with a brisket soybean paste hotpot with noodles which we did not even read on the menu, and so it was an exciting surprise. The banchan were fresh and they had lettuce to make handheld wraps if you wanted. We also couldn't resist ordering a side of kimchi fried rice (one of my favorite comfort dishes), which was a heaping portion and very tasty! Highly recommend, especially if you're looking for a more upscale experience.
This was my first time at Origin BBQ in KTown and we went with the ORIGIN DUO SPECIAL for two. Everything we tried tasted fresh and flavorful, and the meat quality was excellent. I absolutely loved the pork belly. Another big plus is that the server helps cook the meat on the grill for you, which makes the whole experience more relaxing -- you can just sit back and enjoy the food instead of managing the grill. The restaurant itself feels clean, modern, and well kept. Parking in the area can be tricky though, so rideshare is probably the easiest option. At the end they bring out a noodle soup, which is a nice touch, but for me it was much too salty and definitely on the high-sodium side. Overall, we had a really enjoyable meal. It's not a budget place, but the quality of the food and the service make it a solid choice if you're in KTown.
What can I say? Absolutely delicious. Everything was perfect! Banchan, corn cheese, ramen, cold noodle! Staff cooks for you, while you stuff your face. We ordered the set for two. The marinated bulgogi is delicious and was my favorite. But I'm a sucker for corn cheese too. The kimchi was also top notch. Could have gone with a tiny bit more funk, but really was good. The staff was really kind and let us store our luggage. It is a tad loud but not too smoky. I'd definitely return. I can't speak to parking as we used a ride share service.
Came here last night to celebrate a birthday party. This place had been on my list ever since Baekjeong closed in this location and moved to 8th St. The restaurant is located in Chapman Plaza on 6th St., which means if you aren't down to pay a 10 dollar self-parking fee, its Uber all the way, since street parking is fairly brutal. We had a reservation for 6:30 and were seated at that time, once everyone arrived. The restaurant was fairly packed with people waiting outside as well. We got the Baekdu set with an additional soybean stew as well. The bathroom was temporarily out of service, so I had to use the one outside of the restaurant and near the parking lot. It was a bit dirty and there was a line everytime I needed to use it. As for the meat itself, it was good but the order everything came out felt a bit strange to me. I would have assumed marinated meats would be the last thing to touch the pan but it was interwoven within the menu. The vibes were definitely there with birthday songs going left and right. The servers were also very attentive, although once the restaurant really got busy, we needed to tend to the meat for a bit to ensure it didn't burn. The kimchi stew that also comes with the set was fairly tiny, each of us only getting about 2 or 3 ladlefuls of stew among 5 of us. I ended up with a couple scraps of kimchi and maybe a sip of the soup, as I served myself last. Overall, it was a good, very standard experience among other Korean BBQ restaurants in the area.
Clean, classy, and has kind servers. We ordered the 2 person set which was a 3-person job so didn't end up enjoying the later rounds of meats. The spiraled pork belly was a standout -- sliced thin, the right amount of fat. Next time, will just order a la carte.
This spot was sooooo delicious! The quality of the meat was excellent. Our favorites were the galbi and boneless short rib, both were super flavorful and tender. The bulgogi was also really good with a nice balance of sweet and savory. everything paired well with the banchan, and we were all completely stuffed by the end. service was a highlight. our server Ryan (a trainee), was very attentive and cooked all of our meats perfectly. He made sure our sides were always refilled and checked in often. It also seems like a really demanding job juggling so many things at once, so we definitely appreciated all his hard work. my whole party had a great experience, and we'd definitely come back
Long over due review: Came here late on a Friday and basically had to order before fast before last call. They were super understanding and patient with us even though we were cutting it close. Food and meat quality were great! It's hard to go wrong with kbbq in the area so add this to your list of places to try. If you don't eat beef, but eat pork like I do, this is another good spot where the pork options don't feel like an afterthought. I'll be back!
Easily became one of my favorite quality KBBQ spots in K-Town! I came in with friends on a Monday for lunch and we were seated right away. The vibe was casual, comfortable, and very clean. We ordered the Baekdu set for five people and it was more than enough food for all of us. It came with cheese corn, which was easily everyone's favorite side dish -- so creamy! The side salad was also super fresh and crisp, and we couldn't stop eating it with the meat. Our favorite meat was definitely the short ribs but everything else tasted high quality anyway! Service really stood out too. Our server was very attentive. Even as the restaurant started getting busy, he kept checking in on us and made sure we never ran out of water or any of the side dishes we wanted. Highly recommend this place and can't wait to bring more friends here next time!
I went to Origin for their Dine LA 2026 set and loved it! It is now on my top restaurants near home list. It included: - Bulgogi Taco (2 pc) - Wagyu Brisket - Garlic Seasoned Prime Short Rib - Premium Thin Pork Belly - Gochujang Spicy Premium Pork Sirloin (kind of like jeyuk bokkeum) - Kimchi Fried Rice - Brisket Soybean Paste Hotpot with Noodle - Ice Cream & Yakgwa I quite enjoyed everything except: - I would replace the bulgogi taco (tastes decent but not memorable) - I thought the kimchi fried rice was mid (very mild flavor and a bit oily). The food was very filling, and meat quality was great. The wagyu brisket was much leaner than expected, so I expected it to be dry, but it turned out to still be yummy and enjoyable. The gochujang pork was *not* that sweet which was a big win for me! And the brisket soybean paste hotpot was a great way to end. I enjoyed it enough to take it home so I could add in additional ingredients and eat it again. An improvement I would suggest is to bring the ice cream out a bit later. We got the ice cream at the same time we got the hot pot and the gochujang pork (last meat) and so that meant we either had to eat the ice cream before end of meal, or finish our other food and let the ice cream melt. Lastly, I love the menu being on a little newspaper. The little creative touch makes the experience more memorable for me! Highly recommend this solid bbq place!
Inside chapman plaza. Parking is $10. I recommend street parking. A la carte kbbq. With super high quality meats. The price is expensive. The service is excellent and top notch, and cook the food well. I would go back. Origin family set serves 4 ($189)- Prime short rib- very soft, cooked well. It's marinade is very light. Boneless short rib- very soft. Beef brisket- good quality brisket thinly sliced Pork belly- it's super thinly sliced. Doesn't feel overly oily Bulgogi- super super good. Perfect marinade, not too sweet. Enough meaty flavor soft meat. Marinated bone in galbi $41- this was the real winner..then meat was super soft, slight sweetness from the marinade. Super super good. I would get this again. 1 Corn cheese included- pretty flavor. Enough for a small sample. Brisket soybean paste hotput- nice complimentary soup. Some soybean taste. Kimchi fried rice $15- super good. Not very dry, slight moisture. Great flavor. Kimchi pancake $15- average flavor. Pancake has nice crispiness. Terra- $10
First time trying Origin Kbbq thru Resy and we are pleasantly impressed by the quality of the meat and the kind services we received. We ordered the duo combo which in my opinion is more than enough for 2 people. The tofu soup pot at the end was a nice surprise (didn't realize it was included in the set at all). My favorite part is that I get to sit back and relax while the meat is cooked to perfection. I'm sure we will keep coming back whenever we crave some good Kbbq. Parking is not too bad...you can park at the H mart across the street and get parking validated if you shop there.
I came for dineLA The menu didn't look a lot but there were a lot of food for two of us. The cheese corn wasn't in the menu but they offered it. I love all the flavorful meats too. The food kept coming out. I didn't finish the noodles at the end. I will definitely come back for dineLA. Make sure to park on Mariposa.
Real authentic Korean cuisine here and it was amazingly delicious and so good!!! All the best cuts of meats and the freshest vegetables. The presentation was so well made and prepared, I felt like I was in Seoul instead of Korean town in Los Angeles! The meal ended with a nicely spiced noodle soup which was the perfect way to end a grilled meal! The restaurant looked like a typical Korean grill venue, very clean grills! This is a must try, only in LA Korean town!!!!
As a group of 5 walked in with no reservation they were able to accomodate us right away. Inside is a typical kbbq spot theyre clean and not too loud. QR code for menu so ordering was made super easy and we got the beef set large a side of kimchi pancake and a cold noodle. Each set order comes with a complimentary corn cheese, steamed egg, and brisket soybean paste hotpot with noodle. They've already set up the banchan on the table before we got seated and they have everything I could ask for a perfect meat wrap. My favorite cut has to be the prime rib eye it was not only tender but super juicy. Their beef grade is superb, I enjoyed everything that was in the beef set and it was able to feed all 5 hungry people so it is definitely worth the price! I've had many kbbq experience before but Origin really wowed me, staff was attentive and yes they do cook for you and they insisted on cooking by saying " Let me do it, its okay you eat" for when I tried to nitpicking the meat I just thought it was cute and funny. Origin kbbq has easily became my new favorite kbbq spot in ktown check it out if you haven't! read more

Been here once so far but consider me a fan already. Found inside Chapman Plaza, you're better off finding parking on the street than parking inside. Surprisingly, we pulled up right after work (granted it's a Monday) with only a short 5 minute wait to get our table ready. What caught me by surprise, a pleasant one, was a built in grill for the cheese corn already being heated up. This grill then was used to heat up the soup at the end. Both were included in the set we got. The three of us ordered a set meant for 4 but with our appetites, we were able to finish and was the perfect amount of food. My favorite cut had to be the garlic seasoned prime short rib. It came out juicy and with a lot of flavor. We'll definitely be coming here again! read more

First time back after they changed their name and the beef duo set still tasted pretty good. I like that there's free corn cheese and the soup that comes with the set. Service could be a bit more on time but overall is good read more
Origin is a great place Korean BBQ spot for an authentic experience. I came with one other person on a Saturday for lunch. When we arrived we waited about 5 minutes before getting seated. The menu offers a la carte options and combination options. We decided on their Origin Special Set, which includes boneless short ribs, beef brisket, pork belly, and their marinated beef galbi patty. This also includes their various banchan, corn cheese, steamed egg, and a delicious soybean paste hotpot with ramen. Everything was very good. The meats were all of good quality and were all cooked perfectly for us. I appreciated that the man cooking for us told us how to eat it with all the sauces and how to wrap it. My favorite meat was the pork belly. I liked the idea of the galbi patty because it's their specialty there but I'm not a fan of the texture of patty in general. I liked that the corn cheese was on it's own skillet over its own fire. And I loved their beef brisket soybean hotpot with ramen. It's was the perfect ending to our meal. The service was excellent and the man cooking for us was a pleasure to talk to. He was really knowledgable. Our food came out quick and we left full and satisfied. I think we paid a little over $100 for both of us. The inside of the restaurant is spacious and casual. As for parking there is $10 parking nearby, paid street parking, or limited neighborhood parking. It's in a busy area so street parking can be difficult. The KBBQ I had here was pretty good, but not as good as baekjeong which used to be this restaurant. The meats here are more premium than at a typical AYCE place, but not as mind-blowing as I thought they would be. I'd say the pork belly and brisket were my favorite meats, very good quality for those. They paired nicely with the sauces and seasonings on the side. I also liked how cheesy the corn cheese was, but would have liked it to be creamier. As for the service it was pretty good! The servers were very attentive and kept checking up on us from time to time. I also appreciate how patient they were with my aunts who were dining with me as they have a tendency to make their own rules when it comes to dining. read more
Great food, great sides, I loved how we were given the lettuce leaves to wrap our meat in. We ordered the large option for the special set which comes with garlic short rib, regular short rib, brisket, pork belly, and bulgogi. My favorite cut was the garlic short rib which I would order a la carte if I were to come back. You get a steamed egg, a plate full of corn cheese, plus an instant ramen spicy soup after your meal. You will definitley leave full because there's plenty of food with the large dinner set portion. There weren't any coals though in the grill, so pictures might be misleading if you're looking for a true charcoal grill for kbbq. read more

My family went to Origin BBQ on a Thursday around 6:30 for dinner. We were seated quickly but the restaurant definitely filled up throughout the night and I imagine there could be a wait on weekends. I was really excited to try Origin because I remember when Kang Ho Dong Baekjong opened.... It tapped a new market somewhere between value maximizing AYCE places and the more upscale, pricy BBQ stalwarts like Parks or Chosun Galbee. Origin is from the same owners as Baekjong and is inside the space of the old Baekjong, and seemed to attempt to deliver a similar experience - quality, premium meats without the fuss. Seemed promising!! My family of 5 - two adults and three young kids - ordered the small beef combo which was supposed to feed 2, and we added on an additional order of beef tongue and pork jowl. The combo also comes with all the normal veggies and sides, corn cheese, steamed egg, and a bean paste soup with ramen. The bean paste soup with ramen is a whole freakin' entree in its own right, we were shocked by how big it was when they brought it! Ooops, ordered way too much food.... My kids loved loved loved the marinated galbi as well as the jowl. (Compliments to our server Ian for doing all the cooking to perfection!) If you haven't had jowl at kbbq, you gotta try it! Tender, juicy, and delicious! The tongue was also excellent, and the brisket as well. Truthfully we were way too full by the time we go to the bulgogi and we had to pack it to go! Overall, we were impressed with the taste and service. We spent under $200 and were all stuffed. Not cheap, but the quality and service justified the cost. Bonus that I didn't smell like smoke when we left. PS - Parking tip - if the lot inside (entrance on Kenmore) Chapman Market is full, just go around to the OTHER side (Alexandria) and enter the parking lot BEHIND the building. Usually more empty. Wow, great quality Korean bbq. This place took over another k-bbq. This one is much better. Got the set menu for 2. It was plenty for my family of 4. Also ordered the nang myun. Very refreshing and chewy. At the end they give you a dweng jang stew with ramen noodles and brisket on top. It was also delicious. The place was so good we went back the next night. This time, we asked for the stew early because the night before we were too stuffed to enjoy the soup. Highly recommend. Not a cheap place, but the quality and service make up for it. read more

Great quality meats and service! Friends and I shared the large Origin Set which came with short ribs, brisket, pork belly, and galbi patty. The set also came with ramen (each table comes with a separate built-in stove just for ramen next to your grill, which was really cool). We dined on a late Sunday night, and the place was packed! Reservations are strongly recommended. Parking lot is your standard Chapman Plaza parking. The lot can be closed on busy weekends, so be prepared to circle around a few times until the lot opens up or you get lucky with street parking. read more

OK guys this is absolutely our favorite Korean BBQ in the city, we come here least once a week! Out go to order is the beef brisket x2, pork belly and the prime non marinated KALBI. The Bonchon is pretty fire, it comes with cheese corn, steamed egg, salad and you can end a meal off with the instant Ramen pot top with brisket. Also! All the servers are friendly and it's one of the nicer looking Korean barbecue restaurants in the city. Everything is clean! read more

Sad to see Baekjeon go but happy it's replacement is still KBBQ. Unfortunatly comparing it to Baekjeon the quality didn't hold up. The food was still delicious but there could be improvements for sure. We got the origin special set and was a good amount for 4 people. The marinated beef galbi patty though was unpleasant. Because the patty was so large and circular, there was a LOT of fire being spewed outward the duration of the experience. It made some people scream across the restaurant as well. I would suggest they make the patty into multiple smaller pieces to combat that. The brisket and short ribs were good as well but nothing that blew my mind. The banchan was lacking a bit. I was sad there were no fish cakes and the heater for the corn was turned off early making it cold and clumped together for the duration of the meal. I don't think I'd come back as there are better quality KBBQ spots for the same price. TIP: you can make reservations online but make sure your whole party is there otherwise they won't seat you. Origin KBBQ replaced Baekjeong in the Chapman plaza. I think someone said it's owned by the same hospitality group that owns Quarters. Service was great - All the servers were friendly and cooked the meats well. Restaurant is new and clean, but very standard in terms of KBBQ joints around Ktown. + Shikhye rice slush 5/5: This slush is SO good but also very sweet. I would totally drive here just to get this to-go. + Origin special set 3/5: Ordered the Special Set to try the garlic seasoned short rib, but it didn't taste that different than non-seasoned ones. We also got a ton of thinly sliced pork belly compared to the brisket. I don't eat pork so I didn't eat any. Ribeye patty was also not our favorite as it was so salty. We strongly suspect that it's just a mish mash of old meats that they wanted to get rid of lol. The conclusion is that meat quality is extremely mid at Origin. I liked the big sizzling plate of corn cheese and steamed egg, but I didn't really cared for the brisket soybean paste hot pot with noodles. read more

This is our go-to KBBQ spot. While it may seem more expensive, the quality and quantity often out perform any other venue. If you want a consistently great experience with delicious sides and top quality meat without breaking the bank, this is your spot. The wait staff is excellent, there is parking lots nearby, and it's great vibes all around. read more

If I could I would give this place a six star! The four of us ordered the 4 set which was jam packed with everything you can imagine! The table was so well arranged and all the Banchan was set. The server David was like a ballerina, moving from one table to the next and perfectly in tuned to the delicacies waiting to be nudged perfectly when necessary to their perfect doneness. The freshness of the romaine lettuce crackled with every bite. The corn cheese was so deliciously sizzling that one couldn't wait for the gossamer strands of cheese to be dispersed on our dishes. The steamed egg was a heavenly molten cloud dancing on top of a boiling caldron. One would dare to risk burning oneself to partake in such decadence. The pork belly slices sizzled with favor in your mouth, the perfectly marbled beef almost dissolved in your mouth, and the beef brisket ground beef was an an incandescent flavor bomb. When you thought it was all over, in walks the beautifully choreographed Ramen soup with the artistically placed rolled beef on top that slowly melded together to create a perfect union. The reception by Tony the manager was warm and the ambiance was jovial albeit the sound decibel was deafening, thankfully the BTS vibe made it tolerable! Parking is a bear. If you park on the lot, it's 10 bucks. Ride lupus. There's a nearby lot for 5 bucks. Restaurant isn't as big as expected but provides an intimate dining experience with friends/family. We ordered the original special set small and that was plenty. The staff comes by to cook the food and will let you know when it's ready to eat. Very efficient! The meats were delicious. My favorite was the pork belly. I found the ramen soup a little salty. The steamed egg was perfection!!!!! Also, I ordered the orange drink that was delicious! On the pricy side but I think it's worth a try if you're ever in the area. read more

KBBQs with charcoal grills are the best! This might be my new favorite spot to get delicious KBBQ in Ktown! We got the special set menu which included cuts of meat, such as their brisket, garlic prime rib, and their thinly sliced pork belly. They also serve you a bunch of different banchan, corn cheese, as well as their brisket soybean soup to enjoy on the side, which was my favorite! The servers here were so friendly and fun, and I loved the atmosphere of this place. This is definitely the spot to go get Korean barbecue and late night drinks with your friends for a night out in Ktown! read more
the old kang hodong baekjeong spot. It's the same ownership, but new branding because the word on the street is they didn't want to pay the high franchise or licensing fee of KHD corporate. It's average. reminds me of suburban kbbq in Torrance or Irvine. Bleh. Some of the menu item descriptions piqued my interest, like the gochujang "premium" pork jowl, ddeok galbi, and the ramyun dwenjang jjigae. We ordered the halla set for 4 for about $200. Out of all the combos, I found this the most intriguing set for a dining party of 3 dudes. we ate it, and the only semblance of fullness as I get while writing this review are the ramen noodles in my belly. never mind, I'm hungry again. generally, anytime someone calls themselves or something "classy" or "premium," it's actually the opposite of that. there's nothing premium about the pork jowl here. Pork jowl is perfectly fine unmarinated. Perhaps they were hiding the quality of their jowl (as I scowl in remembrance), but either the meat itself or the marinade made the jowl lose the chewy texture it should have. all of the other meats were mid. Nothing special about the brisket. Ribeye was thin and uninspiring. the corn cheese was kinda cool with it being on a hot pan the entire time we were dining, but it's just hot corn cheese in the end. steamed egg was nothing special. you will pay premium kbbq prices here, but there's nothing premium about it. Also the old ahjussi door guy had attitude for nothing. they will only seat you if you have your whole party there, which I understand from the restaurant business side, but when I told him we only had 2 of 3 of our party, he said we were not "guaranteed" a spot. Ok...it's a Tuesday night, and I know your restaurant ain't that busy...unnecessary comment. Seating was also a cock tease for a restaurant without a solid following or business yet. this ahjussi will yell your party's name, and say "oh but just a little longer." Why don't you just tell us when the seats are ready. food's not good enough to warrant the wait, attitude, or price. if it were good quality, ok, but origin doesn't back their shit up. 2.5 stars rounded up. Definitely not waiting for this shit again. There's way better kbbq out there. if you want a few trendy gimmicky kbbq dishes, knock yourself out here. I won't be back unless something changes or a group of friends already decided to eat here. I predict they'll need to revamp or rebrand in not too long given the food isn't that great and not even good as the prior iteration kang hodong. im not optimistic in a revamp though because usually kbbq restaurants are the freshest and best when they first open, and usually quality drops off the longer they're in business unless it's one of the proven longstanding bbq joints in town. Origin is what non Asians or people who don't know korean food call "great" kbbq. It's mediocre trash. the current 4.9 rating is just hype. even nonkorean customer favorite quarters in the same Chapman plaza is way better - but surprise, same ownership. I guess I'm not a fan of the menu or cuts of meat here. go to any other old school, longstanding highly rated k bbq restaurant in ktown instead. read more
Food - 4.5/5 Ordered the origin special set L for 4 people and a side of pork dumplings and kimchi fried rice. The banchan offered was delicious and everything in the set was solid. The thing I liked the least from the set was the galbi patty. I think I would have opted for another round of sliced meat in place or the galbi patty. Service - 4/5 We had to ask a few times for napkins and water (to which the wait staff kept forgetting to bring each time they came over to cook or flip the meat we ordered) but overall they were attentive. Ambience - 4/5 It can be kinda loud between the vents, grills and the number of people in the restaurant but overall it was a chill space. It reminded me of an old school pocha but clean. There was limited space on our table between them brining out all the meats at the same time, the banchan, the gas stove for the noodle soup at the end and the additional plates we ordered so the table felt cramped. It wasn't obvious that you needed to scan a QR code to view the menu nor did someone break down the menu for us but overall it was a good experience read more

For 5 of us, we got the large Origin Special set and a seafood pancake, and were all completely full with no leftovers. Good quality meats and especially enjoyed the meats you don't see at ayce places (the minced galbi patty and round(?) pork belly). Seafood pancake was fine, nothing special. Fast service and they cook for you, so it's easy to ask for refills of banchan and salad from the server that's cooking. Really enjoyed this kbbq place and it stands out from all the other places in Ktown! Make reservations. Parking sucks, give yourself at least 15-20 min if you want to find street parking. Otherwise the restaurant will text your parking tips including a $5 parking garage nearby. read more
I saw that Baekjeong or whatever KBBQ spot that was originally at this location rebranded or moved so I decided to give this place a shot. I was definitely impressed and got what I paid for. All the meats and veggies were very high quality tasting and they cook everything perfectly for you. I love how they provide a guide/manual of the art of ssam and how to eat. Their corn cheese was superrr good and although we got the set for 2 people, it was well enough food for 3 people in my opinion which was nice so we had leftovers. My only complaint is that we would ask for more kimchi, lettuce, and green onion salad multiple times but we never got any of them :/ nonetheless, the food was great and I was satisfied read more

*New Hot Spot in KTown Alert~!!! Formally the home of Baekjeong in Chapman Plaza, Origin has done some upgrades and I'm a huge fan now! Legit, might be my new favorite Korean BBQ spot. Very big pro, they take reservations! Hallelujah they have heard on high. If you can snag a $10 spot in the Chapman Plaza parking lot, you can live happily knowing you got lucky. And then it's a two second walk to dinner! Plus other fun spots for drinks or desserts after. We went for our 6pm reservation and were warmly greeted at the host stand. Staff was so friendly, greetings upon arrival and departure, so much attention, really great service. Gone are the days of non existent service at KBBQ spots! My friend and I shared the combo for 2 and it was bountiful and delicious. One thing they've kept from Baekjeong is having the banchans all on the table when you sit down, and I love that. We were greeted with potato salad, kimchi, rice papers and even corn cheese already heating on the grill. We were brought scores of meats out and tons of greens including not just lettuce for wrapping but perilla leaves - YAY. The meat though was so darn good. Legit, flavor was superb and cuts were amazing. You must get the garlic short ribs, oh.em.gee.AIGOO. And then the marinated short ribs beef patty (tteok-galbi) --- like whaaaaa. My mouth is watering typing these, I gotta wrap this up. Keep in mind, this is charcoal Korean BBQ, btw, y'all! We going old school with these vibes but just keep in mind that means more smoke in person, and more smells following you home. Not necessarily a bad thing, just a note. read more

Good food - the meat is high quality and tasty. The bean paste soup w ramen noodles given at the end really hit the spot. Love the sides and sauces - so many options to choose from. We got the origin combo for 2 people. It was plenty for 2. But the service can be better - the meat almost burned. There's not enough servers for each table. Only about 2 servers per section - I could tell they were overwhelmed. We made a reservation - highly recommend. It was very busy when we went on a Friday night. read more

Located in the old Kang Ho Dong space in Chapman plaza, Origin Korean BBQ is newly open with a dark hued minimalist decor and tables aimed to seat larger parties. Ordered the Beef set $95, which came with chadol beef brisket, deung sheem prime rib eye, and dduk galbi marinated beef patty. Along with the standard ban chan, expect the corn cheese, steamed egg, and ramyun dwen jang jjigae soy bean paste stew. Meal was standard. Service was great as meat was grilled and grills were changed in a timely manner and without being asked. Parking is a challenge in the area so expect to pay anywhere from $10-$20 during the weekdays for the lot. read more
With so many different KBBQ options in LA, it can be hard to decide where to go - but if you're looking for authentic, high quality KBBQ with a cute/aesthetic ambiance, ORIGIN is the place to go! My fiance and I ordered the ORIGIN Special Set, which came with corn cheese, steamed egg, beef brisket soybean paste hotpot with ramen, seasoned boneless short ribs, beef briskey, premium pork belly, and the marinated beef galbi patty (all of which was cooked over a charcoal grill). All of the meat was extremely tender and high quality and it was the perfect amount of food for the two of us; we left super satisfied but not too full. Service was also great and they helped us cook/cut all of our meats. Would highly recommend coming here on a celebratory night out with friends or for a date night! read more
What an awesome experience here! This is located in the Chapman Plaza taking over the spot where Baekjong used to be. There wasn't much of a wait, just that your party had to be complete for them to sit you. We waited about 5 minutes. The interior is simpler, cleaner still exposed beams and pipes but tables are now rectangular and have both a grill and a burner. We ordered the regular Origin Special set which had boneless short rib, beef brisket, pork belly and a short rib patty. The set also included their banchan- 3 kinds of kimchi, radish and rice paper, lettuce for wraps, potato salad, green onions, peppers, corn cheese, steamed egg, salad and a ramen hotpot. We also ordered a beef tartare which was excellent! Food was amazing! You hardly need the sauces as the meats were tender, juicy and flavorful on their own. The sauces just added an extra kick but with building the bites with lettuce, perilla leaf, pickled radish, meats, onions and their house made radish kimchi, a drizzle of the sauce was all you needed. Service was amazing! The servers were attentive and quick and communicated so well with one another - a truly amazing experience. We did not feel we were rushed, and enjoyed our meal. I've been so excited to try this place as it has been on my list! Upon entering, I was seated immediately. I ordered the Origin Special Set for 2, which gives you 4 different meats. The set also included steamed egg, soybean paste stew, and corn cheese. The portions here are very generous! The soybean paste stew was enough to fill me up, and the quality of all the meats and dishes were INSANE. All the side dishes were unique and I especially like how they had white kimchi as I never usually see that in Kbbq places. The cuts of the meat were very tender and juicy. They were very high quality and absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself was very clean, however, I felt that the service was a bit slow. Not many tables were filled up but to flag down a waitress was pretty difficult.. This will be one of my go-to spots from now on! Definitely will be a great place to get high quality korean bbq. read more
Located in the heart of Koreatown. Origin is a solid place if you don't want to spend a lot but get some of the best quality KBBQ in town. The service i s on point. Ambiance is what you would expect of KBBQ space well lit and the floors aren't greasy like some places I know... They help cook your food so this is beginner friendly. Did the name change to this restaurant recently?? I'm getting mixed answers. The restaurant before was the best dang Korean bbq I ever had. I want to be sure.

They take reservations on Resy but not sure if you can go there and wait for a table.
Do they have kimchi fried rice?
Yes. It's very good. I tried it on a subsequent visit and it's great. The same kimchi fried rice they serve at Quarters. If you like this dish, I definitely recommend it here
