Delicious food, very creative menu. Decent vegetarian options. I always get the butter beans and P & P salad when I visit. They are both incredible! I love the different textures and flavors in both. The cheesiness and the creamy dressing with the tomatoes, beets, and onions in the salad, and the amazing flavor and texture of those butter beans with the cavatapi pasta and the bread crumbs and sun dried tomatoes. And that cheese sauce it's in is to die for. Love trying their seasonal dishes as well! My only complaint is most things are a bit on the smaller side and a little pricey, but not terrible. Honestly worth it for the quality of food you get. They do auto gratuity here, which is great for the servers, but keep that in mind! The place is very cute and quaint on the inside, they have an open kitchen, one of these days I'm hoping I can sit at the kitchen bar and watch them make our food! Had the Wagyu and eggs. Super chewy and tough and not seasoned well. Tiresome to get through. The potatoes were odd tasting and sauce didn't help. The p&p salad was ok but nothing I would talk about. Lots of Parmesan and lettuce too big with all the sauce on the bottom which is annoying. Shrimp and grits were mediocre. The hardwire drink didn't even finish. Not enough coffee flavor and too much tonic amongst other things. The tuna ceviche was decent. The best part of the meal was the cornbread biscuit. The dewberry jam was delicious. If you're looking for lightly seasoned food, like something you would find in the Midwest, this is for you. Also 20% tip is added automatically and no where do I see it stated. Delicious food and unique balanced cocktails in a really cool setting. I'm glad this place is so close to my home, will have to make it a regular stop. Made reservations online and sat at the high tops near the kitchen. If you didn't show up hungry, the smells from the kitchen will change that. The crab claw cocktail and sticky rib tips are delicious starters -- lots of crab claws in a tangy remoulade and rib tips were tender and sweet-spicy. For entrees, we ordered cast iron shrimp and pan seared gulf fish (red snapper when we went) -- the fish was a bit more memorable, served with lemony jasmine rice and roasted rainbow carrots, but both cooked very well. One really unique menu item here to definitely try: the dessert cocktails aren't the usual traditional sweet "drinks" but truly inventive. I finally made my way in after having this spot on my list for the longest. All in all, it was a great dinner. The service was great. They even gave me the heads up that a large group was set to come in after me & be right behind me so I could move if I didn't want to be bothered with their volume. That was appreciated. My cocktail, the Palm & Pain, was delicious. We got a few apps to try. The crab claw Maisonette was so cute but I wasn't a big fan of the guac dressing. The crudo was great. The tartare was good as well. The jerk quail was fantastic. I'd definitely order it again. Perfectly cooked and seasoned & the muscadine pickapeppa was on point. The quail was moist and delicious. The curry ice cream was a no from me but I like the concept. It was just weird reconciling the curry flavor that I typically have in savory foods with a dessert lol. We started going to Palm & Pine about 2 or 3 years ago. We found it near one of the hotels that we stay at a lot. To me, it's one of the most unique experiences you will find in New Orleans. You may find the typical cajun/creole cuisine, but I assure you it won't be like any other place in town. More than likely you'll want to try some of their own creations, sourced from local area farmers. Sitting at the chef's counter is our favorite thing to do. Always a good time. The people creating the food have a great attitude and are fun. It's not a stuffy place at all and the ambiance lends towards a great experience. If you're looking for a fun place to have some amazing food, I highly recommend it. I can't wait to go back. read more

Our second visit to Palm&Pine was nearly as amazing as the first. The ambiance is lovely - exposed brick, palm outlines on the concrete floor, open kitchen area, and distinctive lighting. The service was excellent. Our server was charming and seemed happy to be there, as did most of the staff. Then there is the food - oh my! The P&P salad is a work of art with crisp lettuce, shredded Gouda, pecan bits, the most incredible pieces of tomato, and a delicious Worcestershire dressing. The curried crab beignets were exactly what you would hope for. The butter beans include the perfect pasta - the texture is perfect! You really cannot go wrong. It's on the edge of the French Quarter and there is a public lot just next to it. My only complaint is when I made he reservation I requested a table by the window. Crudo- citrusy and refreshing. Served with "shrimp chips" - use those as a boat for the crudo. Corn bread - delicious carbs shaped into corn lol; served with fermented chili butter. My favorite dish of the night Lima beans with cavatelli- creamy and hearty. Like a pasta stew almost. Our server Jude was absolutely incredible and definitely made our dining experience 10x better! read more

I absolutely loved Palm & Pine! The decor is wonderful and there is a nice causal and cozy atmosphere to the restaurant. It's almost like being in someone's home. The service was fantastic. Favorites: -P&P salad; is on another level, like if a Caesar grew up and studied abroad. -Butter Beans; brought me a sense of comfort and healing that I didn't know I needed. -Crudo-; was like they were showing off with fusion of flavors and textures -TX BBQ Shrimp; this unlocked my true fatass foodie mode. if you're in NOLA you know about bbq shrimp. Forget what you know. They elevate that idea with their own Worcestershire sauce/butter and when I was done with the shrimp I couldn't stop licking the sauce and mopping it up with the bread. -Banana curry ice cream hit my g-spot. Get it. -Finally, since I have no self-respect and don't value my body, I took the chocolate-guava pie back to my hotel and had my way with it at 1 in the morning. I was just gonna have a bite but I finished the whole slice. It doesn't do justice to call out specific dishes on a seasonal menu; Every aspect of the restaurant was so thoughtfully curated and you can tell that these things really matter: The atmosphere & decor, the people & culture, the quality of food and service, the philosophy behind the menu, and the passion for the art of cooking. Somehow, every time I'm in New Orleans I manage to stop here for a meal. The food is very good as is the service. I appreciate that they have small plates if that's all I want, larger plates if I'm hungry, creative (different than I see on other menus) preparations. We received a recommendation to try this place and we happened to be staying right across the street at the Homewood suites by Hilton so we made a reservation for Saturday brunch. For the reservation, we got to choose the kitchen counter so we could watch the chefs make all the food and it was really fun to watch. The chefs were interactive when they could be. Our server, "G. Ace," was very fun and personable. My husband had the lemongrass chicken gumbo, and then we split the cornmeal biscuit, which was actually a very large biscuit to share that came with sorghum butter and jam and I also had some scrambled eggs. We had a couple cocktails including red wine and a Mezcal bloody Mary and then for dessert we shared a chocolate pudding boudino. This was my first dinner experience at Palm and Pine and I thought it was good! I have been previously for happy hour, and that was great as well! My party sat at the bar since we did not have a reservation, but we did not mind! We shared apps but did not get any entrees. My favorite out of all 5 were the butter beans and the corn babies! The blackberry basil butter was AMAZING. I had never thought of pairing that with cornbread but it worked well! I wanted to take some of the butter home! The crudo is worth a try, but I would reorder without the crunchy shrimp chip things. They did not add any flavor and got soggy pretty quickly. Brussel sprouts were good, and the pate was just alright. The blackberry mostarda on it did not really fit well for me. read more

3.8 stars with a few points off for a need to punch every flavor up just a notch. A gorgeously decorated space (think Miami meets NoLa) stretches back from a bright space with wooden low-top tables, past a traditional NoLa bar and to the high top seating overlooking a bright and dynamic kitchen. The servers know the menu well and made some excellent recommendations for an early brunch. We ordered the cucumber salad that had either jicama or chicora in it. Very simple salad that kept the freshness of the cucumber but could have used a punch from sesame oil and some more salt. The Carimanolas were fried yuca fritters stuffed with seasoned, diced pork. The crisp of the yuca was delicious and the pork inside was succulent; but here again there was a need to punch the flavor up a level. Brining in the flavors of the pork's saltiness would have put this dish over the 5 star line. We finished up the meal with a heaping mound of the yellowfin ceviche that came atop a beautiful mound of fresh cut avocado and served with deliciously buttery home-made saltine crackers. I'm a huge fan of avocado with fish but felt the yellowfin took a back-seat to the avo. Here again a bit of additional seasoning on the fish would have balanced this out. The meal was washed down with a cocktail gleefully named This Coffee Might Be Tequila; a mix of chicory and tequila, it was perfectly balanced and smooth. Overall the presentation, service and atmosphere are a 5. Located just blocks off the hustle and bustle of the central French Quarter, Palm and Pine felt like a pleasant retreat. With such a rich culinary pantry of flavors to choose from, I'd love to see some dishes really go bold with the flavor. read more

We've eaten all over the world, and I can say without reservation that the gumbo was one of the best things l've ever eaten in my entire life! We also got the rib tips, pickles, cornbread, and the mocktail was amazing! Doc was our server and she was AMAZING as was the whole staff. Welcoming, fun, lighthearted and so attentive! Walked by a million times and now I'm kicking myself for not stopping in sooner. They are a nice yet casual atmosphere, excellent service with delicious food and drinks. We started with the Corn babies and Ceviche (both yum!) then moved on to the Pork Shoulder with Watermelon salad- wow! So very creative sweet and savory, I would never had thought to serve them together. My husband loved his WAGYU. Don't miss desert, the BLUEBERRY CHOCOLATE CHESS PIE is decedent. Palm & Pine has been on my short list for months. Finally took the opportunity to experience this gem of an eatery last week before a show at the Saenger. Chill casual vibe. Wonderful service, right down to confirming our theater plans to ensure our dinner was timed properly and providing a phone charger when our server heard me comment that my battery was low. We selected a few small plates, including the P&P salad, which is quite possibly the best salad either one of us had ever eaten. Easily in the top five. The corn babies were a hit. The yellowfin tuna crudo was amazing! We had a couple of hiccups, but overall the experience was pleasant! Coming from out of town, I made reservations for the kitchen bar in advance. Upon arrival, we were told the guests before us were still there and we could wait or sit at a high top. As someone who's served, I know there's no telling when customers will wrap up officially, so we chose the high top option. First round of drinks were ordered, but one of two were sent out with the wrong mixer. Again, no big deal, staff handled quickly and courteously! Plates begin to come out of the kitchen, surprisingly the P&P came out last, which was a bit disappointing since it was a cold dish. We were brought out a dish we hadn't ordered and had to send back...it became to feel like a "thing" and I was feeling guilty about all of the items it seemed we were dissatisfied with, which wasn't the case! The kitchen sent out some "sorry olives" (thank you!) and the meal still ended on a good note. All of the dishes were interesting and I'd still recommend trying them out! read more

Our first dish was the fried oysters; it had a cornmeal breading and was so perfectly prepared we thought it was fried catfish. Soooo good. We then had the fried chicken gizzards and that was served over rice grits. The gizzard was a special so make sure to get it and allow your palate to be presently surprised. Next up, the beans. They were yummy but nothing out of this world. Some sort of protein would've added a kick to the dish but it was still good. We then had the red fish and added the blue crab and wowza, it was goooood. We had the gumbo and that was too spicy and the roux was intense but we made the most of it. Last thing we had was the flan and it was perfect; not gooey or jello-y at all. All these dishes and the lively and cute atmosphere with amazing service from Sara and the entire kitchen staff was paired with a bottled of pinot noir (served chill) made the experience a 10.
