This was some of the cutest places I've been to. You'll be attracted by their colorful storefront and stay because of the classy yet cozy inside. Pretty spacious for a spot right by Time Square as well. They offer a menu of French pastries and sandwiches, all of which were very enticing but we went with some coffee and the Passionfruit Brioche and Matcha Scone. My partner latte was nice and frothy. The espresso they used was good. The pastries we got was on the small side but they do pack a punch. The brioche dough was soft and filled completely with fresh, delicious passionfruit curd. The sugar on top also added a very nice crunch for texture. Similarly, we really enjoyed the Matcha Scone which has a great tea flavor while not being overwhelming or overly sweet. Lots of seating available during the middle of the workday. Very noisy though as people tend to chat here more so not ideal for meetings. Seating is a bit uncomfortable too since it's wooden booths and chairs. They do have a good amount of outlets though! I got a black coffee and it's not my favorite ($6) but it'll get the job done. However, the other items on the menu did look really tasty! Overall wouldn't really recommend as a place to cowork unless everywhere else is packed or you want some tasty looking salads and sandwiches while working. read more

They have a large communal table in the front, some bar chairs if you want to be on the side and some more seating towards the back. Came here on a weekday and tried their matcha canele, pate sandwich, green tea scone, iced mocha, and iced latte. Despite their volume, they are quick. I really enjoyed the crispy exterior of the canele. The pate sandwich had a generous portion of pate inside, and their bread is wonderful as it is freshly baked. The drinks were both wonderful. Cute little European like cafe conveniently located in the heart of midtown. Freshly made bread for small sandwiches and toast. We tried the matcha scone, avocado toast with a soft boiled egg, cappuccinos and bought sandwiches to go for later. Everything tasted fresh and they kindly cut our Toast in 2 to share. I had the salad with turkey here and it was a fine salad, nothing outstanding. I also had the chorizo focaccia which was nice although I probably should ask for it warmed up if possible next time. The pastries though were outstanding. The caneles were both good, with a nice hardened texture, and I'm not a big fan of caneles generally. The original rum one was a little too rum flavored for me, but the matcha one was excellent - be warned, it's a lot more liquid in the inside compared to the original. The financier had a nice sweetened taste compared to how it looks, and the sable was the least favorite - very big chocolate taste but not special in particular. read more

Great place for coffee and breakfast. While it doesn't look as buzzing and "instagramable" as nearby Maman, I would pick Pavé any day off the week. I had a cortado and a croissant, the latter being a barometer for whether a bakery knows their stuff. The croissant has a great taste, but like many American bakeries, they overdo the size. It had good flakiness, leaning a bit too much to crunchiness, but it was still a good croissant. They nailed the cortado, so even though it's not necessarily a coffee shop, I'd come back for it. Two stars for a service that was rude and unwelcoming. I did not appreciate that was the way to start my Friday morning at 7:15 am. For context, I am training for a marathon and after my long run for the week, I always pick a new coffee shop to visit and since there are so many in the city, I take great care to pick special ones and look forward to it all week. This one was disappointing. When I walked in at 7:15 am, I was so excited but the woman was still doing opening duties (which I don't mind). She asked whether she could help me. I asked about a drink on the menu that happened to be alcoholic and I jokingly denied. Stern faced, I decided I would just order a drip coffee since I didn't feel like spending more money than I had to at that establishment. I also asked about whether they had the pastries ready since most of them weren't out yet. She said that they were ready but that they weren't out. She asked what I was looking for and I said the matcha canele. I actually realized the matcha canele was out and I said "oh, I didn't see that there." She did not respond. She asked whether my order was for here or to go. At this point, I was pretty turned off from the store so I got everything to go in order to get out as quickly as possible and unfortunately had to wait the mile walk home to try the pastry due to poor service. I read that the matcha caneles are good, and the two stars are for the canele. Drip coffee is drip coffee. If you can endure some negativity in your morning, try your luck. read more

One of the best croissants in my life! We ate breakfast at Pave during our visit to NYC, and it was a memorable one. The store is really cute, had surprisingly spacious seatings in the back, and both almond croissant and regular croissants were wonderful. Flaky outside and melt in your mouth soft inside. Perfect with cup of hot coffee in the morning. This is a place where I would've become a regular if it was in my city. Definitely will visit again when in NYC! read more

Pavé resides on W. 46th Street between 5th & 6th, a middling Midtown block characterized by parking garages, a bank, a few nail salons, a Hilton Garden Inn, a dollar store, a Subway, etc. It's not a totally terrible stretch -- there's a MáLà Project, and an Ippudo, and Chazz Palminteri's restaurant, Chazz Palminteri, which I'm told is actually good and actually frequented by Chazz Palminteri -- but if you wanted to open a stylish, modern, colorful business that doesn't blend in with lots of other cool shops, this block would be one of the better places to do it. And Pavé has seized that opportunity, sporting a brand-spankin-new turquoise storefront that really pops amid the humdrum surroundings. That's doubly true because Pavé occupies the ground floor of a building that almost looks abandoned from the second floor to the roof. The vibe is just as bright on the inside, which is really spacious and has a big back room full of comfortable seating. As for the comestibles, they're quite good, and there are lots of options. I like that they offer simple bread and butter (the multigrain loaf is especially nice, while the ciabatta could use another minute or two in the oven). I'm also a fan of the matcha scone with white chocolate and the focaccia with potatoes and mushrooms. They even do a respectable pan bagnat (Nicoise salad sandwich) featuring good quality tuna. So, should you find yourself looking for a café near this block, Pavé is an obvious choice, literally and figuratively. read more

@Gargupi, I owe you a big one for the tip!! Pavé is a DARN good bakery. It is so good that instead of bringing my French friend bread from Mille-feuille or Bien Cuit as I usually do (she lives in a part of CT where there are no legit French bread bakeries), next time I'm bringing her baguette from Pavé. It's just crusty enough on the outside, well (not overly) risen, perfectly chewy and substantial. A slice of chorizo and zucchini focaccia was fragrant and appropriately oily, the toppings a lovely combination of silky, sweet, salty and spicy. Like the baguette, the focaccia had a wonderful chew. I'm not usually a huge sweets person, but the passionfruit cream-filled brioche, studded with pearl sugar, won me over. The brioche was light, the natural passionfruit flavor and fragrance surprisingly intense. It was not overly sweet. The only item we didn't swoon over was the ciabatta, which was beautifully risen, but very lightly baked, probably in anticipation of toasting for a sandwich. (Mine came split horizontally, sandwich ready.) I could also have used a bit more olive. I got my items to go, but the dine-in space is gorgeous and cozy. You can see the open kitchen from the front of the cafe. The staff working today were also fantastically nice. If my waistline could handle it, I'd visit on the daily! read more

Kind of an odd experience. Overall, very good. Place is very cool. Here's the odd part. We ordered a cup of coffee, a ham and cheese croissant, and avocado toast. The croissant was precooked and cold. They gave that to my wife right away. Then her coffee was ready. And then like 10 minutes later, my avocado toast came out. I was wondering if they were growing avocados back there. So, service orchestration was really weird/bad. However, the food was very good. The avocado toast was excellent.
