After shopping from Vitamin Shoppe and Safeway, my husband and I decided to drop by at Peets to buy some drinks. We sat in the coffee shop for a while and once done, I decided to go to the rest room before we drive all the way to Burlingame. When I was in the line, an African American girl approached me and said I have to buy something in order for me to use the bathroom. I said to her that I already did and I just need to use the bathroom before heading out. She asked me, "What did you buy?" I said, "I ordered mango infusion cold drink." Then this time she walked away. She came back and said, "Can you go to the cashier? I told her, "Why don't you ask my husband "(who was still sitting and waiting for me) "He has the receipt." My husband wanted to use the rest room as well. The Barista said to my husband, "I don't know you, I know her." Then the cashier approached the Barista and said, "I know the guy, he ordered the drinks". My husband showed the receipt, then the Barista gave as a paper with a code. Out of disgust, I told my husband, "Let's just go and not just use the rest room at all. NO APOLOGIES AT ALL. What a TERRIBLE experience. Really bad experience here. I understand that the area is a bit rough, but you should not do this with your customers, because if you do, the customers will never return. I experiences a positive response from Starbucks which is located at Church Street in San Francisco just beside Safeway, which is also a little rough area, but I never encountered this type of bad customer service. Just tried to get a cup of coffee to-go and the workers refused to open the door. I get that it's almost closing time on Friday, but it would have taken 60-90 seconds. Filed a formal complaint with corporate, will post results. Took me longer to file that complaint (less than 5 mins) than it would have taken to poor a drip coffee. read more

I go to this Peet's when I'm in Potrero Center or the surrounding area for errands. The coffee is pretty good. I always get the iced coffee and a lemon scone. Let me tell you, that scone is puh-retty good. So I'm quite happy with the value I'm getting. This place has friendly service, free wifi, and ample outdoor seating. If they had more electric outlets, I wouldn't mind coming here to get a bit of writing done. Overall, a good and convenient place to get your coffee fix in between errands. read more

I love this place!! It does get VERY crowded in the mornings, especially on weekends, but I usually am lucky enough just to miss the rush. One time, my order was taken, and I was waiting about 20 minutes. It was very busy, but there hadn't been that many people in front of me. Finally I go up to the counter and ask how much longer for my order? They realized that my order had been skipped over and apologized profusely!! Not only did I get a refund, but the manager (who is a total sweetie) gave me three complimentary coupons!! The coffee culture is lost on me. Let us start by discussing the fact that I don't really drink coffee - not in the traditional sense. I remember there always being a pot of coffee brewing at my grandparent's house. They drank it at all hours of the day. With breakfast, lunch and dinner - "It's after 6, let's switch to decaf!" It grossed me out. They were also chain smokers, so what did they know? Then, when I was in high School/college the coffee culture hit America. Starbucks became a household name. On every corner you could get a decaf, soy, no foam, Brazilian-roasted, caramel mocha chocalata - WITH ROOM (What the hell? Room for what?) There were no less than 20 coffee shops within a 5 minute walk from my dorm room and all my mates seemed to spend countless hours at them sipping one coffee they paid 99 cents for. How does this business model work?!?!?!?! Well, it just never gelled for me. Why would I want to spend hours in a strange place working? Too many distractions thank you. GO HOME! DON'T YOU PEOPLE HAVE HOMES! But just lately, I have started dipping a toe into the world of the magic beans. Every morning before work, I stop at Peet's coffee and order a iced latte (Order an iced latte in Italy and you're gonna get milk over ice). It's good, it's not too strong and it gets my lazy ass going. Peet's has good coffee (so I'm told) but the way they run this place seems wrong. They have 2 cash registers going all the time. The line moves VERY quickly. BUT BUT BUT BUT they almost always only one barista. SO that means you have to wait FOREVER for your coffee. It just doesn't seem efficient. Why the rush to get everyone through the line just to have them clump up waiting for their drink? And I do mean clump - there is no room in this place. It's got parking, the line goes fast, the workers are always chipper but not annoyingly so. The coffee is better than Starbucks, and they don't use annoying terms like venti, but instead keep it real with regular named sizes like 'large.' It's not a bad place to sit outside, have a cup of coffee, read a book, and amp up for a workout at the gym downstairs. read more

I've been drinking Peets for years. It all happened when I first worked at a Peets during high school and learned all about coffee. Let me tell you, you pay for QUALITY with Peets. Although when I worked at Peets, they didn't carry the syrups and caramel and all that junk but I guess competition with Starbucks has grown. Even they do make flavored coffees like Starbucks, it doesn't taste like sugar. It doesn't distract from the actual flavor of the coffee itself. The staff knows what they're doing and can answer almost any question you throw at them about their coffees and teas (this is due to the training they receive and I would know first-hand) The location of this Peets attracts a wide variety of customers. It's not full of yuppies like the Laurel Village location (blech..the one I worked at) thank goodness...Customers here are pretty friendly as well. I appreciate it when other customers are not grumpy just because they haven't had their caffeine fix yet. I waitress at a restaurant across the street from the plaza this Peets is located in and let me tell you, I would not be able to carry out my all day and night shifts without the excellent barristas of Peets (especially this tall Asian guy named Peter. He makes excellent drinks and always remembers that I want low fat milk and no whipped cream WOOHOO!) The staff here is always friendly, they almost always have smiles on their faces, and I will continue being a loyal patron! read more

Can't believe this location is not on here... so... I shall add it. I have been here a few times. I am not a coffee drinker, but my coffee crazy friends swear that Peet's is where it's at if you are going to do a chain. So... I walk in here from time to time to have some of their coffee or tea with more than just coffee... I know... I am defacing the pureness of the coffee. But hey, the drinks are really good. The coffee is of great quality, the teas are great too. And the service at this location is good too. I have had some of the folks there craft drinks for me with a twist and their have always been good. I have fond memories of Peet's from my years in California. Back then, I knew I could count on a good cup and polite service. At this location, the coffee was decent (not great), but the service was lousy. While I was still deciding, the woman behind the counter was impatient. There was no line behind me. I then ordered my coffee and remembered after I ordered to ask for a dairy alternative. She begrudgingly offered their potions and then apologized to her colleague for needing to step into his space to secure some coconut milk. I'm almost back to my normal work existence and my commute to work is also normalizing. I used to go to this Peet's when *$ didn't have parking. I didn't really care to go here because when leaving, I have to make a left on 16th to get on Potrero. I also didn't like the drivers and the occasionally full parking lot. But I think I'm going to risk daily accidents on 16th to get my Peet's Coffee. The service is wonderfully refreshing! The coffee is perfect. And I love the banana bread. MMmmmmmmmmmmm............ It's really some of the best customer service I've EVER experienced, and I experience it EVERYTIME I GO TO THIS PEET'S, NO JOKE. I come here in the morning for a thermos full of coffee. The staff is always so nice and they have excellent customer service. At this point I don't even have to tell them what I would like, they just grab my thermos and fill it up! Redeemed my free welcome beverage and got a large iced matcha green tea. Asked them to make it with soy milk (repeated it twice to make sure). Halfway through my drink, my stomach was definitely telling me they used regular milk which sucks bc I told them TWICE to use soy milk. I rarely drink dairy products so for them to use regular milk really messed up my stomach. Also, their matcha lattes are super weak. 530am coffee run?!? Yes I take that as a yes. Me and my dad decided to go for some early morning fishing and decided to stop by to keep up with our caffeine addiction. We both just ordered two medium coffees to get our day started. Even at 5:30am, I was blown away by how friendly the staff were. There were only 2 people working and there was a line of 4 by the time I finished with my order. They were fast with making their coffee and it tasted very good. Both my dad and I agreed that their regular coffee tasted better than Starbucks. I felt that they deserved to be recognized for their sense of urgency in the morning and how friendly their service were. I know at 5 in the morning I would be cranky but I was simply just blown away. Thank you Peets and I will definitely stop by more often. read more

I don't like the area, but this place is definitely a 5 star all the way to the top.. They have remodeled the place recently!!!! The employees always greet you with a smile no matter what! "you know I know", I learned that smile is worth a thousand words" we can't have a perfect day everyday but I smile should be there. I have never been to a Peet's like this one. The environment is so welcoming and warm. There was this one employee named Desmond that was so nice to me at the cashier. I didn't know what to order and he took the time to discuss with me what to get and recommended me a chai latte. It was great. Peet's stop #4. This Peet's is essentially the museum cafe for the San Francisco Museum of Suburbia, AKA the Potrero Center. Seriously, I can't think of a better example of a strip-mall in the city: they've got Ross, McDonald's, Blockbuster, even a Boston Market. So as you can imagine, Peet's is the only place I'm likely to review here (I have been shopping at Old Navy, but...nah). Anyway, not only does this Peet's front onto a parking lot, from the street it looks like it's actually part of Safeway. But no, it's a real stand-alone Peet's, and a decently designed one at that. There was a surprising amount of neighborhood-y chit-chat and bustle going on inside, too. Plus, kudos for having a patio out front, carved out from the parking lot thanks to some potted plants. In true strip-mall fashion, it's shared with Jamba Juice, Noah's, and...Radio Shack. I decided it was time to test out Peet's Chai Latte. The result? They got the basics right by not overdoing the chai flavor or the sugar. But my quest for the perfect chai latte is still unfulfilled. Also, this was my first morning getting caught in the rain on my bike, so bonus points to Peet's for getting the sun to come out while I finished my latte. And I was even able to see my bike from the window, and ward off all the would-be bike thieves (whoever they are) with my paranoid glare. White-haired old Asian guy, I'm looking at you. I love Peets's, but the customer service on Sunday sucks big Time! I said big TIME! If you want to repeat your order 4 times till they understand what you want and then to get your LARGE decaf cappuccino - only one shot decaf coffee- after 15 minutes, then go there on Sunday! The place was empty and the queen at the coffee machine was pouring the milk foam by spoon for 15 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't like mean customer service and this was my experience! So sad. read more

4.5 stars I like Peet's more than Starbucks (there's a branch in the Safeway next door). Starbucks doesn't have cold decaf coffee for iced coffee- they'll give you a song and dance about putting the hot decaf over ice. Peet's only keeps coffee for 30 mins and then tosses it. They also have cold decaf for iced coffee. The servers here have always been super nice. On my last visit I dropped my iced coffee. They were nice about cleaning it up and replaced it, which was absolutely sweet. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Indoors there's a little nook separated by a half wall to give you a little peace from the ordering line. It was VERY noisy when the barstools filled up and the coffee grinding was going on. Thank you Peet's for giving me such a BIG list of teas to choose from! I am on my 8th day of NO coffee, and Starbucks teas are pretty lame, in my opinion. Yesterday I tried the Jasmine Fancy. It was pretty good. Today I tried the Gunpowder Organic, which tastes like a mix of hay and dirt....but it's fun to try different ones anyway. The place where everyone knows my name... I have to say I love going into this Peet's Coffee for the excellent customer service and ambiance. As soon as I walk in the door one of the staff starts making my favorite non fat latte before I even order (gives me the warm fuzzies). They know me better than I know myself. The staff took the time to really educate me on real organic coffee, french roast, and different kinds of coffee. They made me a true coffee snob. This is a nice place to run in and grab your favorite espresso drink after running errands at Safeway or the bank. I am not rating the coffee, as Peet's is a chain and you should expect consistent coffee here. Location is very convenient, so my rating is just on the store - there aren't too many tables to sit at in here, and because of the small footprint of the store, you are constantly close to the noise of the machines and chatter of the people waiting in line. If you expect to get some recreational reading done, this store's not for you. read more

Afternoon coffee fix! Large iced coffee w lots of Soymilk & Honey - nice break from Starbucks & Classier music/service here! I like the Mayan Cocoa Drink cos it has some kick. i also like that the Baristas dont shout and scream at you when they have your drink ready like they do at Starbucks. Some of their coffees have a sour flavour - perhaps their dark roasts and i dont like that v much. Only sometimes will I go to Peets! Id go more often if they had a Rewards Programme or Gold Card sort of Reward for rewarding customers such as SB but of course in their own way. read more
