Used to come here a lot as a kid. Today ordered a 47$ large pizza for them to get it completely wrong. When we called back to speak to someone. They initially heard this issue and asked us to hold. Called a total of 6 times to be told to hold. Then from there to be hung up on. Now being forced to go back and drive here to get an answer. Hopefully they can answer a customers concerns in person. This place isn't what it used to be and the customer service is one of the worst. Never coming back to this place ever. read more

I am so upset with this place that I may never go there again. Several days ago I planned a lunch gathering with 6 people and checked restaurant hours on their website to be sure they would be open today (Tuesday 01/30/24) at 1:00. The website says they open at 11:00 A.M. When we got there the girl behind the take-out counter said they don't open until 4:00 P.M. unless we want to order food to go. I showed her what their website says but she said that information is wrong. When leaving we asked her to advise management to correct the website information. She said "That's not my job." The customer service is so horrible. Yesterday i tried to pick up the pizza, the young lady said it will took 5 minutes. But until 15 minutes, it was not ready. They pretended not seeing me. The food here is very good... I like the minestrone soup,has a wonderful flavor,get the bowl,the cup is small and for a little more change,the bowl is worth it! ( I just wish the noodles were al dente... they're just a bit mushy for my taste) and that fresh bread they serve with the packets of butter...Im in love with that bread!!!! BUT... My favorite is their pizza,I order ours with the awesome Italian sausage with real nice size pieces of garlic and onion.We ask for a side of oregano and parm cheese and mix it together and sprinkle on the pie... It really saddens me that this staple is slacking so bad The hours have been wrong for 4 years (it's not that hard to fix) I had Alfredo pasta and it was watered down and had no flavor and was soupy They let us know after the fact that the kitchen was closing and we couldn't order a pizza The little kids that work there have 0 customer service skills (esp over the phone) I would rather just be there when the more experienced servers are there. I'll start with saying that I had an odd experience. So my coworkers rave about this place and the reviews sort of support it. I decided to try it. First off service was decent except for the "mystery prices"? What does that mean right? So I ordered over the phone and when I arrived to pickup I realized nothing on the menu had prices. I was given a total. I then asked for what the prices of my pizza and antipasto were.... they couldn't tell me! I insisted so the woman helping me pulled out a calculator to figure it out. In America it's pretty standard that you are told what you are paying for right? I was made to feel like I was asking for something "forbidden", lol. but seriously. based on pictures I've seen of prices from 6 months ago I calculated that the staff took delivery of adding a 20% tip without my consent. That or prices went up exactly 20% in 6 months. Which is it? I can't know. For the next part; the pizza is decent at best. Dough is hard and tasteless and there isn't enough sauce. But the worst part is the mushrooms. Canned? Is that an old family recipe? Lol As others have noted, the antipasto salad is hilarious. read more

Horrible service for bad pizza. Horrible girls with attitudes working up front and the pizza was stretchy, hard to bite into. Went in on a Friday afternoon and was told the wait was going to be an hour. When I ordered, there were no "thank you", "you're welcome", "please," didn't even look up. Also, they don't give receipts even if you ask for one. I came back in an hour to find a room full of people waiting. I asked for my order and was told 10-15 more minutes, on top off the hour. 5 people came in asking for their orders and were told the same. 10 minutes passed and nothing. Someone asked for the manager 3x and the manger didn't come out?? Then they told us 30-40 minutes MORE! Of course we were losing our patience, and the girls started to get defensive and yelling at the man asking for a manager. Petrillo's has the BEST pizza ANYWHERE. They use fresh deli style ingredients and they make the pizza DELICIOUS. If you like "everything on it" style, get the specialty pizza. SO FREAKING GOOD. Oozy cheese, savory sausage (like the kind you get at the Italian deli), fresh pepperoni and ham and comes with every vegetable you can imagine. Solo? No prob, get the small specialty pizza, you can thank me later. I don't know what the price will be as they tend to fluctuate, but whatever it is, PAY IT, you won't be sorry. This review is not on the food at all, because we didn't even get to order. I'd give no stars if there was an option. My family and I live right down the street and every time we pass this place we always talk about wanting to try it. Finally remembered wanting to try it tonight and after looking over the menu, we were pretty excited. Yelp says they close at 9:30pm. I called at 8pm and after a while someone picked up "San Gabriel, sorry we're closed." I didn't know if it was an actual person or a recording, but it was abrupt and It just hung up. I had my partner call and after less rings, the person picked up and said the same thing. Not a good look for your business, especially for new excited customers. This has been a SGB institution for 2 generations because the pizza hasn't changed in all that time. Cheesy thick crust with lots of pepperoni (or whatever you like), and cut in a grid rather than a pinwheel. This place is historically known from their pizza!! A favorite of course for locals and those of us who have been coming here for decades...however the service is awful now!! Dining in or calling in. One of the last times I dined in the pizza crust was burnt. I've called in a few times as well for take out up and they say "We're closed" the minute they pick up the phone. This place has been around for a long time, and it is because they have good food with good portions at a reasonable price. We usually stick with the lasagna and the pizza. The lasagna is well made, and since it comes as an entree it will come with soup, salad, and bread. The bread has a very rustic/homemade feel to it, so it's really yummy with some butter. The soup is minestrone, and the salad is a green salad with olives and pepperocinis. I can usually get two meals out of this, and because it's lasagna, it reheats well. I also really enjoy their pizza. The crust reminds me of a homemade rustic style crust, and they have always been pretty good with the toppings. Life pro tip: call in your order and then go pick it up so you don't have to wait so long. Especially if you're going to be ordering for dinner time as they get busy. Ok I called 5 minutes earlier this week at 715 and they took my order if I could make it there by 730. Monday special isn't max 7 toppings anymore. It's 4 toppings now. But pizza was good! Only 3 stars because of the advertised 7 toppings but only 4 toppings and closing time still not updated to 730. We were looking forward to a nice family dinner. The hostess sat us down within 5 minutes. The restaurant at that time was about 1/3 full. The waiter got our drink order and came back to get our food order right after. Our food was brought out slowly. We ordered 2 plates of spaghetti with meatballs, gnocchi, and a pepperoni pizza. The gnocchi came out 1st followed by the pizza. We waited for the spaghetti about another 5-7 minutes. When they were brought out the spaghetti only 1 had meatballs. The waitress who mind you was not the one who took our order decides to argue that our order was correct. That right there rubbed me the wrong way. Since my boyfriend did not want to wait for his spaghetti any longer he decided to take it without the meatballs. That was the last we saw of any waiter. Terrible customer service on numerous occasions!!!. Today, i attempted to call and place an order multiple times. Each time, the call was answered and left unattended, then I would be hung up on. No one would say anything each time, just terminate the call. So I proceeded to order through UBER EATS. I came to pick up my order which i received an alert that it was ready.. Upon arrival I was told that they had no more pizzas, they were closed and that they never received my order. I showed the employee my order confirmation and bank statement showing payment. Employee went inside grabbed a receipt, walked to another room and shortly after I received a notice that my order had processed. The employee came back and lied to me saying they never received my order stating, "I don't know what to tell you. I don't work for UberEats. I work here." This business STEALS money, has HORRIBLE customer service. RUDE and IMMATURE employees. I will be encouraging everyone to do business with other local pizza companies as I have had multiple instances with rude, customer service and poorly prepped food. It's been awhile since I've been here as the last experience was meh. We got a combo pizza where the mushrooms they used i think were canned mushrooms which was a first I have seen and did not like that at all. Nonetheless, my friend wanted to come here so decided to give this place another try. They gave us some bread while we waited for our food. The top portion of the bread was fluffy and as you get to the bottom half of it, it becomes more doughy and dense. So depend on which you like you got both in one. I like them both but would prefer they gave us warm bread then cold. My friend got the simple spaghetti with meat sauce which was pretty generic and I got the short rib ravioli which to my surprise wasn't to bad. Their marinara with meat sauce was good as that actually tasted homemade and not from the can. Very flavorful and fresh. The short ribs was not dry but had the texture of mashed up pulled pork like. Flavor was ok but could be better. Service: Our waitress was nice but takes awhile to get what we needed. Either another waiter would bring it to us or it will take awhile before she gets it to us. As I walked to use the restroom and passed by the kitchen, I noticed our waitress along with a few others chatting away at the counter in the kitchen. I know this happens and I don't mind it much as long as the job gets done but when its not super busy and anything we ask for takes awhile when it doesn't need to be, then that's not good. At the end, it took almost 15-20 min for our to go boxes. Overall, with something wrong the 2 times I had came here, probably wont want it to be a third. Food was ok but not good enough for me to visit again unless a friend wants to come here then I don't mind it but that's probably the only time. read more

I honestly wouldn't give this place any stars but according to yelp I have to. This place has the most disrespectful staff. If you are party bigger than 5 they do not care for your service or money. They tell you that you can't make any reservations but make exceptions for people they like. They also don't tell you they are splitting your party up until the last minute. My party had a party of 15 people ,we arrived at 5:30. The servers and staff knew that they were going to split us up. They wouldn't seat us unless our whole party was present. Only 3 people were missing. They say they have a first come first serve basis. They say another party of 15 when half of their party was missing. Unfortunately I had a couple of bad experience with orders I have placed. This has been one of my favorite pizza place but for a few years little by little it has been going down. On this particular order Customer service was horrible people are rude & can't even get your name right for your telephone order. They give you a pickup time & when you get there they tell you that your pizza hasn't been put in the oven & it will be an additional 40 mins. (The girl in mid drift top with her bellybutton exposed doesn't make for a health department guidelines) then asks if you still want your pizza. I ordered a half & half pizza it wasn't. It wasn't prepared evenly it was a med size I feel they made my pizza in a rush without giving quality control to the order.
