Yesterday I stopped by Philz Coffee downtown Burlingame to try their new seasonal Salted Butterscotch drink. The place was busy when I went, so service was a little slow, but honestly that's kinda expected during busy hours. I appreciated that they have wifi and plenty of people were working there, including me. The coffee was, hmm good ?!? I mean I personally didn't really get much of the "salted" flavor from it, just sweetness. But anyway, this is still a great place to work or catch up with friends.

They have the best chai tea latte ever make sure you order it with honey and lots of spice. This location makes it the best I've been here many times over the years with my son-in-law always turns out really well.

Love this Phil'z location! Located just around the corner from Burlingame Ave, this spot is almost always poppin'. For those who haven't been, you order with a person at a counter, then wait for your drink to be made. They don't do fancy lattes or anything here, just classic pour over style coffee. The differences come in the flavor notes in the bean blend(s) you choose. You can also mix more than one blend -- my favorite combo is the Philtered Soul & Tesora! You also get to select your "sweet and creaminess" levels. They have a few milk alternatives, as well as sugar alternatives like honey. SEATING; Inside along the pick-up counter, they only have a couple small tables and a couch that is often used for people to wait for their order. There are a few more tables and some window seating up front by the door and register. Outside, there are three longer tables and chairs to enjoy your coffee and people watch. They are big enough to accommodate groups of 4-6, or a couple smaller groups sharing. COFFEE: They have all the standard options for the Phil'z menu, plus new and seasonal items. They sell bags of coffee grounds and mugs as well, so you can enjoy it at home. You can get most drinks hot or iced, and they even have some fun "Featured Creations" such as the Iced Mint Mojito, Gingersnap, Iced Coffee Rosé, and Cold Brew. They also sell large bottles of their cold brew to take to-go. We've had them in our fridge on several occasions over the years! FOOD: They have a variety of pastries and sweets, along with more hearty options such as burritos and fancy toasts! I've tried many of their food items, and never been disappointed. SERVICE: Everybody I've ever interacted with has been very friendly. The people behind the bar making the coffee work super hard, yet always want to make sure your order is to your liking. The pour over style can take longer than what people are used to, so be patient, especially if it's busy. OVERALL: This is a great spot to grab some coffee and hang, or take your cup for a stroll up and down Burlingame Ave for some quality people (and dog!) watching. They also have an App that you can use to order ahead and have your coffee ready when you arrive! Shout out to the awesome staff here, I look forward to my visits each time! IG: @bbnem.eats

One of my favorite coffee places from the Bay Area. Really enjoy this location for taking a stroll through downtown Burlingame. this particular location has some limited, indoor seating, but also some outdoor tables. Free WiFi and bathroom with baby changing table. My go to drink: iced mint Mojito (half oat milk, half creamy, keep it sweet).

Usually this place does a good coffee. Not sure what happened today. I ordered the Philtered Soul (hot). The coffee tasted bitter like it was a day old coffee. But it also had an "oil swirl" in the coffee itself.

I don't mind spending a few more dollars and waiting longer for a good coffee. Philz makes each cup to order and they are good at customizing. I'm usually in a hurry or impatient and get a fast to go drink but sometimes I like to get something better and relax. Good place to hang out.

(Ryan Reynolds voiceover) The vibe is fab Philz hidden in plain sight off of Burlingame in Burlingame. Bianca warmly greeted me! I was in dire medical need of cyclic AMP and had to replenish my phosphodiesterase inhibitors as many of you already know. When I'm topped off, anything is possible! Isn't that right, ladies? Back to the review...the young lady expertly recommended the Ecstatic Iced Coffee. Large, Light Cream, Light Oat Milk aka Bianca's Way. It is the perfect drink for the sweltering 86° summer heat outside. The Pesto Chicken Sandwich without the sandwich as we do it in LA was absolutely delish. Would order everything again! Much thanks, Bianca! Woohoo!

And it's hidden gem-ness, well, that's part of what made our morning so great. I found it because the photos looked amazing and the menu sounded right up my alley, and I'm so glad we gave it a try. We enjoyed breakfast out on the patio while my little nanny buddy happily colored and played in the sunshine (with Simba supervising, of course ). One of our favourite surprises was the view. The patio overlooks the waterfront, and we got to watch planes taking off while we ate. If you have little ones who love airplanes, Gigi's Cafe is gold. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and an iced chai tea latte, and we shared a fresh fruit smoothie. Everything was delicious. And the breakfast sandwich! What a beauty! It came hot and steaming, with fresh avocado, fluffy eggs, and ripe tomato Plus, the drinks were the perfect complement to a warm summer morning As a Bay Area resident for over two decades, moreso one whose career often involves exploring with little ones-- phew I can't tell you enough how much I cherish finding spots to eat that feel relaxed and welcoming. When I arrived around 10:00 p.m., I had to go to the front desk to check in. The lobby was packed with guests because Hilton was experiencing a nationwide system outage. After waiting in line, I was informed that the ocean-view room I had specifically selected and paid for had already been given away. Instead of honoring my reservation or offering a comparable solution, I was simply assigned a different room. To make matters worse, the front desk associate told me they would waive my parking fee as compensation for the inconvenience. Later, I discovered that the parking lot is open to the public because it is connected to the oceanfront trail. There is no gate, no parking attendant, no security monitoring the lot, and guests are not charged to park there in the first place. In other words, they offered me something that was already free, making it feel like they were trying to appease me without providing any real compensation. The nationwide system outage was beyond the hotel's control, and I understand that. However, giving away the room I had already selected and paid for, then misleading me into believing I was receiving meaningful compensation when I wasn't, was extremely disappointing. I expected much better customer service and accountability from Hilton. I will be making sure to tell all my friends and family what type of experience I had!

It has a beautiful foyer, great dining area and the front office staff is pleasant. You can't go wrong with the manager's reception nightly with small snacks and two complementary drinks along with the buffet breakfast each morning However, the first evening we were unlucky finding the managers reception so we went to the bar to get a couple drinks, and the bartender was not the most pleasant. He walked away from us when we offered to pay with cash and just said that we don't take cash here and we finally waited and asked for him to please come back so we could order drinks with a credit card he did so with not most pleasant attitude. Another issue on our first day was paying for an "upgrade" to a room smelling deeply of recreational marijuana, which we do not partake in. We are also traveling with a child. We are given furniture that is worn and tattered a bathroom with no stopper and a lightbulb that wasn't working we called maintenance that day my husband left shortly maintenance arrived pretty swiftly however he had to change the bulb and proceeded to leave his tools and ladder in the restroom. Left the room and didn't say when when he was coming back He did return, he let himself in while my daughter and I were getting ready and changing for the evening. It was quite disarming. I called the front desk to let them know and ask if they speak with the manager, no one followed up with Us quite concerning. I guess the bigger issue is just paying for an upgrade when you feel like it's not even a bare minimum of what your visit should consist of doesn't mean we won't return to an Embassy suites just perhaps not this one.

At my seat (depicted) you get live behind the scenes of a kitchen. Me personally, I enjoy watching my food being cooked in front of me, so I enjoyed it. I originally went because of looking at the prices on an image on yelp. It was $16 for sausage, eggs, hash browns, and pancakes. That's a great deal! But, once I got there inflation kicked it up to $18. Not the biggest difference to deter, but just letting everyone know the real price. I got pancakes, eggs, hash browns, and bacon (depicted). The eggs were good, pancakes were very good, hash browns were okay, and the reason for 4 star instead of a 5.... the bacon. The bacon wasn't crispy and cooked to order. It was chewy and I guess they cook it before and then heat it up on the griddle after. It is super noticeable from the taste, but especially from the texture. I would recommend this place to anyone, but just be aware with the vital advice I wrote.

My pork chop dinner included soup or salad, slice of toasted and buttered sourdough, potatoes or rice, vegetables and choice of dessert. All for just under $30 before tip. The meal was as expected for a '60s coffee shop. Salt is the dominant seasoning. The turkey and rice soup was a smart way to use leftover ingredients. The boiled red potatoes were good. The two thin pork chops were supposedly marinated, but I couldn't tell from tasting them. They were over cooked--dry, tough and needed some herbs. DH had the cheeseburger with potato salad and praised the meal. He also devoured my dessert--ice cream with chocolate sauce. Service was friendly and efficient, making me want to return. Next time I'll have something like a sandwich or burger.
