It's becoming an impossibility to go to all the Philz locations. Like Starbucks they're showing up all over the place. Unlike Starbucks they're good. I just found another one and I'm positive the last time I was in Burlingame, I went to this address but do not remember that it was a Philz Coffee. But it is! The drawback to this location is inside seating is at a minimum. If you see someone sit down at a table with a laptop, that's basically it for that table for the day. There is a lot of outside seating but the missing Philz element here is comfortable chairs. There aren't any, or room for them. The seats they do have are the eat it and beat it variety. Maybe the yoga nazis' or those accustomed to sleeping on a bed of nails could get cozy, but me? not so much. But do you know what makes up for that? All Philz Coffee houses have Philz coffee. That's really why I go to Philz. It's a cute little place, the coffee is like all other Philz and it's next to impossible to park unless you're on a motorcycle or bike, so I like this spot. read more

A slightly better experience here in Burlingame than I've had at other Philz Coffee locations, especially in Corte Madera. I ordered the Jacob's Wonderbar - it's a good, solid darker roasted coffee with lots of flavor. It was a nice experience in this location as a whole, far better interior and nice tables and chairs to relax at. My issue is just the coldness of the people working here. If you don't know the lingo or how to exactly order their coffee, you get a completely different reaction when you order. I watched several "regulars" be greeted far more warmly and without a hard-to-describe negativeness you receive when they don't know you and you order. I made the mistake of not knowing to say "light" I guess when I asked for soy milk to be added to my coffee. What I received was a cup of soy milk with coffee in it (exaggerating obviously but it was very light colored when I received it and almost cold). They offered to remake it but I didn't want to waste the coffee. Again, a much better experience somehow than Corte Madera's store but still they have this standoffish vibe. read more

An operational nightmare. They have two baristas taking in person orders, and one completely overwhelmed barista dealing with all of the app orders. My favorite coffee from the bay! I have been trying a little of everything. The most recent is the philharmonic. I didn't add any sugar or creamer, but it was ok. After awhile the cardamom taste was over powering. I like simple, but today it was just not hitting me right. If you don't like it they will remake your drink. I loved it at first, but I guess I like simple roasted coffee with no additives. Trying new things is fun though. Gets you to find what you like and don't. Like cardamom is delicious in carrot cake!!! I guess not my coffee. Or next time just get a smaller cup. I did make the mistake of getting a large. As always the staff was amazing. Auoer down to earth and made things go smoothly. Never any hiccups. I do want to try their snacks and baked goods. I will try next time and maybe give you guys an update, if I remember. They have plenty of locations around the bay and have even expanded further to Sacramento. Would be cool if they had a few in northern Nevada, but that seems to never happen. Accident!!!! I stumbled out of the Airbnb and down to the Golden Gate area and thought, what the...why are 126 people standing in line here? What's going on in that truck? It must be something nefarious. What's that smell? COFFEE!!! I NEED IT!! The only bad part about standing in line was, I NEEDED COFFEE! Otherwise, it was pretty fun watching all the people. OK, so I get up to the truck and what's this? They ask me what kind of coffee I want? Isn't it something you threw in a jug earlier? No sir! They're going to help me choose and be really nice to me since it's my first time here, grind the beans and do a pour over. Right there! In a truck! You can see the Golden Gate Bridge and have someone make you a great coffee. And the coffee was really really good. My walk in the park was 475% better because of that cup of coffee. Next morning, I can't wait to get down there and try a different coffee. Uh oh. No lines, no truck, no coffee. See, here in Minnesota we don't move stuff around too much, so I figured that truck would still be there. You know how it is if you've been waiting for coffee for hours and can't get it? Anger, frustration. What should I do? Kill a squirrel? Nonononono, I don't do that. What I did was looked on Yelp and found that other place, you know which one, and walked 1.2 miles up the hill to get there. The coffee was good. I'm not sure I'd walk up that hill again to go there. This is by far the best philz I've been too. They have the coolest staff and for a busy location they are always fast yet cheery. Sometimes you go to places and people get flustered or frustrated when it's busy. These amazing humans are always grinding it out. Review is of the location, not the coffee (either you do or you don't love Philz Coffee; I'm a fan). Good location right off Burlingame Ave. Parking here is no more difficult than it is for most of the stores in this area, but this location is more for the locals who can walk to it. That's the good. The bad is that the store is really small, so the area people order in is basically the same place some people wait for their coffee which makes the ordering area crowded. Or people wait for their coffee in the same area where the registers are, which blends into the back of the line for ordering, again making it crowded and difficult to figure out where the back of the line is. There's very little seating, and it's super tough for parents who are pushing a stroller to get a coffee here when things are busy. Basically morning rushes and weekends are hectic and not a great if grabbing coffee is part of your morning zen. I much prefer the San Mateo (B Street location). Be nice to the baristas or else they'll mess with your coffee! I went to Philz on my normal Friday ritual and ordered a large wonderbar, light cream no sugar. For some reason my coffee tasted watered down as if it was a reheated or left over. When I asked the barista if something changed to the coffee, she said we've been getting the same comments from customers that the coffee blends is getting weaker. My wife and I came here for a slight drink and hang out before attending a yelp elite event. The shop is fairly open, but with limited seating. The staff are all very friendly and they also have an iPad where you can provide feedback as you leave the shop should you choose to voice your opinion. I ordered the mint mojito where they usually serve it on a medium sweetness level and as creamy as you want it. They come in two sizes for the drinks and I chose a large as the wife and I had a bit of a wait before we could attend our event. The store also takes android and Apple Pay so it definitely speeds up efficiency for those looking to grab their drink and leave immediately. This review is in regards to the Asian male barista 'Danders' (per the barista photo wall): I used to love Philz - but someone in management/corporate needs to remind the 'Danders' employee about basic customer service etiquette and fundamental team player skills. I asked a female barista if they had any Peruvian Swisswater beans for a coffee. She gladly checked the back for me and said 'yes' and that she could make me a small cup. Great! To my shock, this 'Danders' employee (bespectacled Asian male donning a yellow apron) had the audacity to 1) not educate me (the customer) that although they have said coffee beans the store isn't allowed to sell/prepare coffee using this beans, and 2) condescend my barista IN FRONT OF ME in an audible voice that 'next time someone asks for these beans say no more... what the F-- (verbatim) we've discontinued that for a month now'. Are you kidding me? This guy has the nerve to be condescending to his barista colleague and insult the customer at the same time. Seriously sh1t customer service. I have heard about this coffee chain many times and I finally gave in a try one weekend. I got the Ecstatic, which is like a latte. The coffee is very smooth, and you can adjust the level of sweet and creaminess to taste. My barista recommended the Philz's way (medium cream and medium sugar), which was great. I tried the Mint Mojito from my friend before and liked it a lot more than the Ecstatic. The shop is very clean and has plenty of seats. Parking is hard. I am a huge fan of Philz and I haven't been to a Philz location that I don't love. With that said, this location is on the smaller cramped side. There's limited space for people to line up, so naturally the line goes out the door. And there's not a lot of space for you to stand around and wait for your drink too. I was visiting the area on a Sunday and came here with a group of friends for some much needed caffeine. The Silken Splendor I ordered came out perfect, as usual. Despite the crowdedness we were able to find a table outside to sit and chat. Once we sat down, the pace changed and we were able to really enjoy our coffee. Ever since I had my first Mint Mojito Iced Coffee when I came to visit the Bay, I always dream about it. Dreamt about it so much that I had to move out to the Bay area....jk. Love Philz, and this location is no exception. I love coming to Burlingame to meet friends for a meal at one of the restaurants in the area, or do some great shopping in their stores nearby. This location is not that big, but it has ample sitting area and can accommodate a line. Great to get a quick caffeine jolt to keep you shopping or after a yummy, rich meal. The service is friendly, helpful (eg choosing your selection) and quick. I always get the mojito, which is beyond amazing. The day I went it was cold, and I decided to get a warm mojito. The barista advised against it, but happily made it. The barista was right, not the same experience as being made cold, but that warm drink and with the fresh mint was still down right amazing. If you are a die hard Starbucks or Peet fan, I get your loyalty. But I promise you, if you try their Mojito coffee, especially in the summer, you will be asking the other guys why such greatness isn't on the menu! Amazing custom coffee. Lively and friendly staff no matter the location. Food is pretty good, just avoid the "avocado" if you're like me and don't like the pre-smashed packaged kind. Everyone always says you ~must~ try the mint mojito, which is very true, but if you're been there done that, check out the iced ecstatic. It's more of a cinnamon/toffee coffee. First-off the real estate which they chose is spot on, completely walkable, plenty of people watching, and coming from Southern California this is the perfect change in pace. Philz's growing domination of the gourmet coffee scene has spread to Burlingame and I for one couldn't be happier. I have been spending a lot of time in Burlingame lately and having a nice, new, shiny, and convenient Philz has made that time better. This location opened in early February of 2016 and is crowded most times I have been inside. Whether it's my favorite Tesora blend, New Manhattan blend, or Mint Mojito, the quality of the coffee here is the usual high standard one expects from Philz. The location is near the post office and library in downtown. Parking can be a little cray cray so just hover around and you will eventually get a spot. I am lucky I can walk here without having to park. There is a single restroom, outdoor seating, and minimal indoor seating. Art from local artists adorns the walls. Staff has been very friendly.
