I ordered the chicken noodle soup and was pleasantly surprised when it came with its thing of ginger scallion oil, the first time I've ever had chicken pho with ginger! It paired really nicely with the chicken to give it a bit more flavor. Another thing I found surprising was that the soup was still piping hot, which made the whole takeout experience that much better!! My roommate and I were so excited to see the restaurant having their soft opening! We called in takeout orders and then walked to the restaurant. My roommate called in her order before me, so her food and drink was ready when we arrived, right when they said it would be. She had asked for a less sweet passion fruit soda, and they were very accommodating to make sure it was to her preference; she loved it! We took our food home and dug in immediately. I almost forgot to take pictures. I ordered a ham combination banh mi. Bread was nice and toasty without being burnt. I personally would've liked more filling, but the pate was good! My roommate's grilled pork bun vermicelli bowl smelled amazing, and she said it was delicious. I was too focused on my own food to take a pic of hers. It's Pho Day!! Literally..we wanted to try this place for awhile! Every time we pass by after getting ice cream from Mitchell's We turn on that street and see that bright yellow stripped awning above their restaurant! So we enter inside.. We see about 4 people eating Pho! No one really greeted us with welcoming hello except that this asian lady who was eating asked us how many to be seated? We told her just two of us! We choose our seating on the left side middle table near the window! As we were sitting down..this young asian guy gives us two menus! We probably looked @ the menu for a good 10mins. He gives us ice water! Then another 5mins. He takes our order! My honey ordered Combination Pho It's an all beef kind of soup! He said it was yummy nice and hot! It actually loved the broth which soothed his cold & his throat!! :)) I ordered the Combo plate which came with garlic noodles & crispy grilled beef And I appreciated the side shredded pickled carrots and cucumbers with the fish sauce to dip the meat in! I had to get my white rice on the side too! I must say It was All very delicious! Even my Thai drink was good! My honey got a can of coke! Every thing was really good! :)) My only thing I did noticed..the servers were all business! Which I didn't seem to mind! I was hoping to get such a great customer service I guess I'm used to getting but not this place where you don't feel this warm fuzzy welcome! It took me about 2 weeks if should post a review. But I decided to post it because I think when we go out to eat our food should be handle with care, cleanliness and respect. Came here with some friends twice already the food is delicious! But the last time we went my friend saw that the waitress went inside the bathroom to use it with gloves and came out with the same gloves on. DISGUSTING! We were very upset and told her in a respectful way not surprised she got defensive but admitted that she "took the gloves off" and then put them back on. This place is really cute. Had the pho tai and the broth was delicious, hot, distinctive, and flavorful. I will definitely be coming back. The imperial rolls were delicious. The garlic noodles could have been more garlicky but it wasn't greasy which was good. I took one star off because I think the quality of the rare steak could have been a lot better. It wasnt the best cut, it was chewy and bits of muscle/fat? was on the edges, and it just seemed more coarse than the meat I've had in other pho tai's. I'm in between a 4 and a 5 (5 is Westminster/Oakland pho) but rounding this up due to the cleanliness, decor, and great customer service! I'm really glad there is a new Vietnamese restaurant in the Mission Bernal neighborhood. The family here is super nice and friendly and we've gone multiple times since the soft opening. We'll continue to be regulars and support them! Bun Bo Hue - This is my favorite Vietnamese dish and I'm so excited I have a go-to place I can order from when I carve it. Their Bun Bo Hue broth tastes very flavorful (compared to Bac Lieu where it tastes like they just diluted pho broth and added chili oil on top and called it a day). I also love all the toppings and the addition of beef balls was a nice touch. Imperial rolls - These were good but I wish there were more veggies to go with it so we could roll each roll in the lettuce! Banh Mi - I've tried the five spice chicken and it was pretty good. The bread is fluffy and crunchy and the fillings were perfectly portioned. Pho - The steak is really fresh and sliced perfectly (yum)! I dropped in last week because I've driven by it like 20 times and I was ready to try a new place. It's got a great location, lots of light, pretty clean. I ordered Banh mi combo, combo pho and Vietnamese ice coffee. I had them put the veggies on the side for my sandwich since I'm sharing it with my son. The pho was a bit salty and just ok. The Vietnamese coffee is definitely a no. Doesn't taste like the traditional Vietnamese coffee I usually get. Now for the sandwich which was pretty good. Well, if your into the hard chewy baguette bread for Vietnamese sandwiches than it's for you. My son loved the sandwich but I'm more into the soft thin crispy crust kind of bread like in San Jose. AMAZING PHO AND REASONABLY PRICED! This place was new replacing Shish Kebaba, while it's sad to see them gone, I'm so glad to see a new vietnamese place in the neighborhood! First off, their decor is nice and airy, it made my mood feel lighter instantly. Then it was the service that made it extra welcoming. I ordered the combo beef pho with chili oil and coconut coffee. They were both AMAZING! The pho has GENEROUS amount of toppings and the broth was flavorful!And adding the chili oil gave it the extra kick I always wanted in pho. I wanted to give it 5 stars because it's a new restaurant, and I know how hard it is in the new world we live in to get something up and running. It should have been a red flag when I saw the menu and they didn't have any authentic pho add-ons like tripe or tendon, so I opted for the bun bo hue because of another review. Which btw, those that say this place doesn't disappoint has not had good Vietnamese food. The BBH had meats that don't really belong in the dish and lacked any beef or savory flavor. It literally was, dish water with some chili oil and overcooked noodles. The service was lacking and we had to locate a staff member to close out. Pho Day is the new Vietnamese establishment that took over Shish Ke Baba's location on the corner of San Jose Ave and 30th. I was craving something soupy so my mom and I stopped by to check it out. There were plenty of open tables at noon on a Thursday. I tried the Bun Bo Hue - the broth was decent, noodles were good, and it was a little bit on the spicy side.
