I used to hate it until ate it. Pho Lu made a believer out of me. I love this joint. The food tastes fresh, service is attentive and the pricing is well beyond friendly. The broth complements the noodle and meat to perfection. I have a sensitive stomach and I never feel bloated or sickly after eating there so that alone is a testament to the quality of ingredients they use. I'm basing my review strictly on Pho only, as that's the only item I order when I visit but my girlfriend has ordered other items on their menu and was equally impressed so it's safe to say this place is good for unlimited visits. I use to live out in the San Gabriel/Monterey Park area and I've tried almost every Pho restaurant out there. This would be my first time trying Pho in Garden Grove. I've gotta say that I was kind of disappointed. I had the Bun and my friend had the traditional pho noodle soup. I base my ratings from the grilled beef and the flavor of the soup. The beef was extremely over cooked. I think there's a difference between the "grilled" beef and the "charbroiled" beef. At the other Vietnamese restaurants, the beef is tender and super flavorful. Unfortunately Pho Lu was a bit lacking. Now on to the soup. The soup was a bit too sweet for my taste. It also doesn't help the ratings when the restaurant is filled with flies and other flying insects. Will I ever come back? Probably not, but there are soo many Vietnamese restaurants in Garden Grove so I'm not giving up hope. read more

Pho Lu is a great place to grab some pho. The bowls range from small to large but the difference between medium and large isn't worth the extra $.75 in my opinion. Nevertheless, the pho tasted delicious and they serve it to you in a presentable fashion with the spices and additions on a separate platter. Their shakes are amazing though and I highly recommend to whoever loves durian fruit as much as I do to try their durian shake. Brought some nostalgic tears to my eyes of my homeland. There is a $20 minimum purchase if you want to use a debit/credit card so I'd say bring cash if possible. They're open until a decently late time so this place is great for those of you who work at later times. My only complaint is that some of their servers don't speak even a lick of English and rely on you to order by the numbers on their menu so it's close to impossible to get their opinion on which foods they'd recommend unless you speak Vietnamese I'm assuming. read more

Base on over 10 visits at this location -Place was remodel recently, it looks great, more modern feeling to it- PROS: *Food always taste great. Great favor *Very clean location *Staff seems attentive, a huge plus *A few TVs to watch sports.. CONS: So far nothing to complaint about.. I hope this place keeps it up.. It's the best pho in Orange County! Soup is delicious. I also like their Thai Tea, but they don't refill for free. ( too much ice for a cup, so the actual amount of ice tea is half of the cup) Food is perfect, but service is not great. If they improve the quality of the service, I'm willing to pay more tip. Even they don't give me a menu when I get a seat everytime. Google map tells you that the restaurant closes at midnight, but it's close at 3 am. I let them know that google map tells me different time, and they said something in Vietnamese. Whatever. Service is 2.5 stars and food is 5 stars, so I give them 4 stars. read more

I have been a fan of Pho Lu for numerous years. After moving away for a couple years and returning I noticed a few changes. For one the prices have increased overall, but I guess when you become more popular thats something you can take advantage of. Secondly, I was very discouraged on the overcharge for take out and only being able to choose the bigger size plate options. Nowhere did it mention I would be charged extra per item when ordering to go. When asking the waiter why theres an extra charge compared to the prices on the menu, he did not have an answer and suggested we speak to the manger. The manger explained it was for the cost of the packaging. When getting home I've notice the packaging is the regular Styrofoam stuff, not even recyclable. So you know they are only paying pennies on the dollar for that. On to the food itself. The food was okay as expected. Since it was take out we obviously didnt get the same sides as we would eating in. some of our plate orders (which are a set size) were actually smaller than what would have eating in. Overall, the food is good, but I would just not recommend take out. read more

This is my favorite spot for pho because the broth is delicious and the noodles are just as amazing! The service here is well... a "Vietnamese" spot for you. They are not social and rude as usual. Based on all my visits. One of the times I placed and order through the phone and came in to pick it up and the guy who was working at the time said "Oh it was a Vietnamese person that placed an order. Not her." I know I don't look Vietnamese, but thanks I guess douchebag. So I spoke to the lady and got my order and as I left I said thank you in Vietnamese and the guy gave me this baffled look. Yeah you ass. I'm Vietnamese. Every time I come in I'm always given a look and right as I'm seated I feel like the guy just stands there and waits for me to order. I always have to tell him to give me a minute. Dude. I just sat down. Literally gives me 30 seconds and comes back. It's not like they're busy or anything when I come in. The food is good. I have yet to have any issues with any of the food. Flavor is good and good portions. I always get Pho. Today particularly I ordered Oxtail Pho. I guess they didn't have any for the day but the waiter was rude about it. So I ordered something else. But then he stood there and stared at me like I was suppose to have a backup order already chosen. The whole time I was there on lunch I guess the soccer game was on and all the employees were standing around near our table and cheering on their team and at one point SCREAMED in excitement. It was kinda annoying when I'm over here trying to have lunch and talk to a friend. Could've sworn it wasn't a bar. Service I feel like is usually bad. On a rare occasion its decent. I've been going to pho lu for maybe two years already and every time I come with my family there always has to be a piece of hair in my moms food and when I went today it happened again and the manager instead of not just saying sorry and not charging us for that meal she had the ordacity to get the hair and blame my mom for it and my family stood up for my mom saying that's not her fucken hair and if u think it was her then to check your fucken cameras then she got mad and took that hair and checked all of her coworkers hair to see if it was theirs and that's just not right at all if u come here ever check your food real food before eating it you family and I are never coming back here cuz we ended up paying for that dish she was so rude. read more

best pho ever. i come here at least 2-3 times a month, it's probably my favorite place to eat.

I don't think I'll eat here again. My favorite was always the oxtail pho and they never have it, it's still on their menu but it's never available. The portion is also so small for the price. A large bowl is $9 and there is very little meat & noodles. It's a rip off, this place used to be so good & generous with their portions but they have cut portions in half & increased prices.
