The servers had a bunch of attitude and when my husband asked for salmon, she scraped the last bits of salmon instead of going to the back to get a new batch. I chose the medium (3 fish) with salmon, tuna, octopus, edamame, cucumber, cilantro, seaweed salad, dried seaweed, sesame seeds and furikake over "urban salad" (aka Spring Mix with carrot), and topped with poke & house sauces. Hubby enjoyed his large bowl with salmon, tuna, octopus, scallops over white rice with lots of his choice of toppings. He thought the Volcano 1 sauce was not too spicy. Business seemed to be brisk, so freshness was not an issue. I thought the portions were good and tasty. There was a wide selection of raw & cooked seafood, as well as many toppings and sauces. The staff was pleasant and accommodating (I forgot the sesame seeds and furikake until I heard Hubby request them, and there was no problem adding them to my bowl, too). I've been here many times in the past few years. I just started writing reviews and wanted to share my recent experiences here. I used to really enjoy the bowls here. Note, the words, "use to." The fish scoops used to be generous along with generous toppings too. The last two times I came to pick up lunch, I noticed a significant change in the amount of food in each bowl. I usually order 3 scoops of protein or fish and sometimes the octopus. The bowls were so light in weight, even the amount of rice and salad decreased. I understand that with the cost of everything increasing, business owners are trying to decrease their food costs but this is so obvious and so drastic. It even looked like the actual scooper utensil was smaller. The diameter of the scoop is not as deep as I observed the minuscule amount of fish cubes plopped into my bowl. Additionally, the taste and quality of the fish used to be delicious. I can't say the same based on my last two experiences. It was bland and had this icy watered down taste that no volcano or spicy mayo sauce could enhance. This used to be my go-to place for poke bowls while working from the office. I was still hungry after eating the bowls during the last two visits. I won't be making the same mistake a third time. Quick food shop for poke bowls located in a strip mall with Wahoo's and Gen KBBQ. Stopped by for a quick lunch recently. The shop is small with seating for about 25 people inside. There is limited seating outside but you will have cars and people right up against you. The queue is orderly and makes sense. Menu is straight forward and can be seen from the door. There are plastic barriers up between you and the workers and with the workers masked, it is difficult to hear each other without yelling. The small came with 2 scoops of fish along with everything else. You could also get a kid's bowl if you are a small eater. It's 1 protein scoop. They didn't hassle adults for ordering it. The protein portions were small. I had double tuna and it was OK. The price was $14.95 for the small bowl. All of the menu photos are old. Pretty steep. Overall, good fresh, healthy food. The price was pretty steep especially with stingy protein. I am torn but appreciate the healthiness of the place so will stay with 3 stars. read more

I can typically split one large bowl with my husband and it comes with 4 types of protein options (not including krab salad). Their tuna and salmon are my favorites but they also have scallops, octopus and other things. You have the option to do white or brown rice, salad or a combination of both as your base. Then they have the typical toppings. Recently they have introduced others that I think are a little weird like mango and corn. You have the option to purchase canned or bottled drinks and of course they have free water cups if you choose to dine in. read more

They are located in a popular shopping center off of Newport Ave.- same plaza as Wahoos and Kean Coffee, but on the opposite side. Plenty of parking available. The setup is similar to all the other poke places in town - stand in line and tell them what you want while they build it for you. The reason for the 3 stars is that their fish tasted like it was previously frozen. It just did not taste fresh. Also, they have limited sauces. Their "poke sauce" which seemed to be the most popular, had pineapple in it - yuck! Unless you like spicy sauce, you're limited to just sesame oil. They didn't even have ponzu. I had to add soy sauce to my bowl in order to give it some flavor. On a positive note, they have "urban salad" as a base, and that tasted very fresh. I'm not sure what makes it "urban", but I liked it. I would probably not stop by here again since there are other poke places in town that I prefer to this. read more

Also, the selection of toppings is usually really top-notch! I've been disappointed TOO many times at other poke places, usually because the rice is plain. This place was super good! But the reason I only voted three stars was because when me and my dad got there only two people were working and there was a really long line. Once we got to order we order white rice as our base. But right then and there they didn't have anymore white rice so they had to make a whole new pot of white rice. Once we ordered, there was no wait for the food rod come out so that was good. But once I saw the price for two poke bowls and a miso soup I hoped this would be amazing. The price for the two bowls and a small miso soup was $40.34!! I guess poke is expensive but the price on the reviews said otherwise. Anyways once we sat down, we started eating everything in the bowl was good except for the salmon. The salmon was slimy and very chewy and it tasted pretty gross. I went home with food poisoning so I hope they change out the salmon next time I come but the rest of the stuff was still good.
