Wife and I came here a few weeks ago for dinner. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is very charming. We were hungry and ordered the following: Spiced Garlic Potato - pretty good but nothing mind blowing Cheese Borek - excellent. Probably my favorite appetizer here Samosa - pretty good Starter Combination Plater - wife ordered this for her meal. Everything was pretty solid. Chicken Shish Kabab - thought it was very very good. I am so confused by the positive reviews. I figured my first experience there must have been a fluke, so I went back for a second try, and it was still bad. Service: The people working at the restaurant are lovely, and this is not commentary on their service, but on the quality and taste of the food. Food: The main problem with the food here is the lack of flavor. I've tried beef and chicken, and the meat is dry and has very little flavor. Even the rice is soggy and flavorless, and the classic hummus has nothing to offer. Overall, it gives the impression that the food is not fresh. Whether it is or not, I don't know. They have some tasty juice-based beverages with chia seeds, which is great because their tap water has a bad taste. I'm not particularly picky about drinking tap water, but this was bad. Atmosphere: Awkward. The restaurant was empty both times I went at dinner time. Dark and old, with aged, dingy furniture. The tables were very sticky. I really wanted to like this place, but there are plenty of Mediterranean places around with much better food. read more

My family and I've always wanted to eat healthy, and Mediterranean food is one of our choices. As we searched the internet for a new place to get something for dinner, we spotted Pom & Olive. We had some take out, one of the main dishes was Filet mignon steak kabab plate. Overall, I am satisfied with the fast services and courtesy we received. The steak tastes good but could be a bit more tender. We love the pita and hummus But that were not included in the plate (we would've ordered them if we had known). Portion size was a bit small but it's made up for the freshness of food we received. They have very good lemonade drink options, the pomegranate lemonade was refreshing; thought the watermelon & mint lemonade was a bit too sweeter for our taste. The overall of the restaurant is nice; It was a bit dark. From the outside, we could not tell if it was still opened. For me, the lighting, the ambience, the appearance and cleanliness of the restaurant (inside-out) would be the first thing that draw me in. These are always cooked to perfection, crunchy but soft on the inside. The beet salad is always so light and refreshing. The shawarma beef wrap is really tasty & filling. This place is great. My BF & I make it a point to try new restaurants every so often. We were very happy with our service, food & price. We ordered the stuffed olives which was a little different but excellent. My BF ordered the filet mignon entree which came with rice & a side salad. I ordered a falafel sandwich/pita which also came with a side salad. It was delish....it had a great sauce, roasted eggplant, cabbage & lots of falafel. This place is pretty authentic. We went for lunch and ordered Lamb Chop with Kale salad for lunch. The waitress did not even bother herself to ask us how we would have preferred our lamb chop to be cooked. We got the kale salad which did not even closely looked liked the picture in the menu and a few items were missing. By then, our waitress had left and a new one showed up who was a nice man, He got the missing cranberry and other stuff added to our salad. Then, the Lamb Chops showed up. Mine was completely red and not even cooked inside. Moreover, on both of us were hardly any meet on the Lamb Chop, mostly half cooked fat on the bone. Pom & Olive is one of those restaurants that looks good on the surface but the food is just mediocre. There is a check-in offer right now for Pita Fries and Hummus which is OK. For entree my bf and I shared the Iskender Kebab, which was not what we thought it was. Menu said it was "Beef Shawarma on top of sliced pita bread and topped with special tomato sauce." The dish came out and the "sliced pita bread" were those same pita fries, just now soaked with the tomato sauce. The beef shawarma part was average. It might have been poor ordering on our part but it seemed like other people in our party also just got mediocre food. As a self proclaimed connoisseur of Mediterranean cuisine, I would say this spot is solid. All the kabobs are good and large portions too. Really enjoyed the rice with lentils and raisins. I can eat their tzatziki with a spoon...no pita needed. But, the dolmades (grape leaves) are dry and flavorless and the Mediterranean salad is poor in comparison to most others.
