I enjoyed my meal here and would definitely return. The ban beo appetizer is really tasty. It's basically a steamed rice cake topped with shrimp and other yummy toppings. Quan Hy is one of Little Saigon's long time gems located on Bolsa Avenue, known for Central Vietnamese (Hue) cuisine. They add a little bit of a modern flare to some dishes and a zen atmosphere throughout their restaurant. I've been coming here as a little girl, and I've always loved their Banh Beo, which are steamed shrimp rice cakes served with scallions and a drizzle of sweet spicy fish sauce. I still adore these little cakes to this day. It's been a little bit since I've visited, but being my aunt's favorite restaurant, I've been frequenting again! Recently, I've tried their #21. Bun Bo Hue Dac Biet (#21. a spicy pork hock/beef shank noodle soup that comes with both, pork and shrimp paste patties) and #43. Mi Quang (a wide turmeric rice noodle in a minimal broth base served with peanuts, rice crackers and stir-fried then simmered, shrimp and pork. These are the usual dishes I generally order upon stepping foot in a Central Vietnamese restaurant, so I know and love these dishes by heart. I think Quan Hy does these dishes well, but they aren't the best I've ever had. The food of Central Vietnam has a lot of zest, spice, deep flavors that are bright and loud. In my opinion, Quan Hy has a more westernized take on these dishes so the volume is turned down just a wee bit. By no means am I saying this a bad thing, just in my personal preference, I prefer the stronger punches on my taste buds. I do have to mention though, I've newly discovered a new Quan Hy and now love. I wouldn't exactly consider it Central Vietnamese Cuisine but I'm currently editing my review and giving them another star for it! I absolutely fell in love with the #47. Com Ca Chien Bo Xa Lach. It is a salmon dish, pan fried in butter, cooked crispy on the outside and flakey on the inside, then served with a delicious umami sauce, a side salad and soup. I plan on eating this hundreds of more times, it is that good! For drinks, I've tried Crème Brûlée Coffee, Coconut Coffee, Kumquat Sugar Cane Juice, and Soda Chanh Muoi ~ a preserved pickle-y lemonade mixed in with soda water. The Soda Chanh Muoi I dig, the rest aren't too buzz-worthy. Service is very efficient yet friendly, staff are very nice and attentive. Price range per person for an entree and a drink is going to be about $20. Not shabby for current times. Quan Hy, although not always my go-to first pick, it is definitely worth trying and revisiting every so often! read more

They also have solid drinks Vietnamese iced coffee and coconut juice. It's your typical Vietnamese service though, so don't expect much in that department. I called to make a reservation in advance and that didn't go smoothly. When we showed up the lady was just so confused. Ended up having to put our name down on a wait list but it was ok, not much of a wait anyway! I have so many bad words for the parking. So crowded and of course we went on a Saturday. I always eat here when I get my haircut next door and they typically have great food! I get the salmon and rice dish and it comes with a tasty and healing basil chicken soup. My orange juice with ice was over priced. It had so much ice I drank it in a few sips. Another complaint that I have is the Koi Fish Pond. The last koi fish in their tiny pond has gotten WAY too large for the pond and its fins are even sticking out because the pond is too shallow. I call this ANIMAL ABUSE. They need to make a larger pond for the little guy or re-home the koi fish so it no longer suffers. **PLEASE RE HOME UR KOI FISH** ur pond is meant for smaller fish. read more

I've been coming here for over 15 years now with my family and now my own little family. I come here for 1 thing only which is the banh beos. Its pretty legit here and I've never ventured out to try anywhere else so basically I come here for the comfortability. I swear there used to be more that came in a tray but I haven't been here in awhile either and finally visited again yesterday. 8 tiny bowls come out on a tray and if you get the sides they offer. It was a bit underwhelming this time and the fish sauce tasted bland and watered down and the pork and shrimp patties were a bit bland. I love how you are able to ask for extra sliced fresh peppers. This by far the worst central Vietnamese food restaurant I ever experienced. Customer who entering a central Vietnamese restaurant expects Bun Bo Hue + Mi Quang to be excellent or at least reasonable But what we have experiment is the most awful soup we have ever eaten. Beef slides are typically 3/16" instead of 1/16"; the beef is Cell is as hard as Roman soldier sandal leather. The broth is ungenuine as if it was mixed between hot water, sugar, MSG and low-cost shrimp paste. For Mi Quang, they have steam sprout. If you're a banh beo (vietnamese rice cake) connoisseur, you should try their version. It does not have chicaron or pork grind as a topping but it's made of minced shrimp versus the typical stir fried finely grounded shrimp that's mixed with food coloring or carrots. Their second dish I find myself ordering frequently is the roasted rotisserie chicken - such a staple and not a typical dish you'd find at a Vietnamese restaurant. Third dish, Banh canh is pretty amazing with the topping of coriander. If you don't love coriander, you're not living. Add fresh chilli peppers and it's on a whole notha level. Never had banh canh? We'll think of it this way. If you love boba, you'll love these tapioca made noodles. They're chewy and satisfying. Banh canh is typically made with a seafood broth whether it is shrimp or crab. Adding pork hock would be a plus but it's not a thing here. Next and final is their goi mit. What is goi mit your mind asks? It's a young jack fruit salad, tossed with banana blossoms, sesame seeds, onions, pork belly and shrimp served with roasted rice sesame crackers -- so refreshing and well balanced. While there are so many Vietnamese cuisines to try in so cal, this is one that keeps on giving. I love trying new places, but this is also a staple place and one that my family always visits. This place always hits home! I've gone since I was a little kid so this review has been long awaited. My favorite thing to order here is the Banh Beo. Not only is it filling, but it's light and still packed with so much flavor! It is a small portion and also served as an appetizer, so plan your meal accordingly if you're only ordering that. I also got the red bean dessert called Che Dau Do Bot Loc Nuoc Dua. Definitely freshened my taste buds and also wasn't too sweet if you don't have a sweet tooth like me. Try simply eating at half time. For the entree Oder the Bun Bo Hue Order the number 16 I believe If you're new to ethnic cooking, I'm giving you a heads up that there are tendons and a pig foot in the bottom of this noodle dish When the food arrives, add the aromatics, I'm not a big bean sprout fan, but that's your option. And dump the entire chili sauce into the soup. Stir everything and smell the amazing aromas blending together and then enjoy! If you've got it this far and you're curious why it's 4.85 stars and not five stars, it's because I always order a water here. We have gone to Da Vien, which is around the corner from this place, and honesty we never went in because we could not figure out the damn name of the restaurant! We ordered 1 Goi Hen, 1 Mi Quang, Bun Bộ Huế and Bánh Bèo. The Goi Hến was extremely salty and very little clams with a lot of banana blossoms. In terms of flavor and seasoning, it's not anything like Hen Xuc Bánh Tráng. Also, the Mi Quang was salty and the broth was quite oily tasting with a very very strong scent of turmeric. If you're not a fan of turmeric , don't get this dish. They dip the noodles in turmeric to make it yellow but I think they also added it to the broth because it tasted very strong. Family members who ate Bun Bo Hue said it was okay. The star of the meal was the bánh bèo. They used fresh shrimp which was chopped up. They bánh bèo was a bit chewy which I really liked. Quan Hy has been a favorite of ours for a long time. Prior to the pandemic, we were eating here at least once a week. Recently, we had a hankering for Quan Hy as we were visiting the area and decided to do takeout from here. Hubby ordered the com suon ram (grilled spare ribs with rice). They gave a hefty portion of rice, vegetables, as well as soup to complement the meal. The spare ribs were delicious and we absolutely love marinade. However, the spare ribs were extremely oily. It was sitting in a pool of oil, so we had to dab out as much of it as we could. The nuoc mam (fish sauce) for this meal is really good as it had a spicy kick to it. I ordered the bun thit nuong cha gio (vermicelli rice noodles with egg rolls and grilled pork). They were extremely generous with the rice noodles and protein. The eggroll was very savory, nice and crispy. The grilled pork had a nice charring and the flavor was great. The nuoc mam (fish sauce) was a bit sweet but pairs well with everything. The only complaint I have is the protein is also very oily, so proceed with caution. We also shared an order of the banh beo (steamed rice cakes) and a vietnamese coffee. The banh beo was not too good as takeout. It had hardened and was kind of difficult to eat. I definitely prefer to eat that in the restaurant. The vietnamese coffee was very disappointing. It had a burnt aftertaste. I'm not sure why. Overall, our takeout experience was decent. The amount of food they gave us was insane and we could have easily made 4 meals out of items we ordered. However, we personally felt the food tastes better eaten at the restaurant. Also, the amount of oil that they use for the protein is insane. Oh boy... I really wanted to like the food since it had been years since my fiancé and I have been back. The banh beo as usual was still as I remembered, full of flavor and not lacking in shrimp. The banh it ram felt way too doughy as I felt like I had to gulp down water for each bite. Moving on to entrees, the bun tom thit nuong just felt below average compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. The pork flavor was excellent as it is really hard to mess up lemongrass but the texture felt like chewing on leather.
