Instead, we got Desiree -- the calm, friendly hero of the jungle. She kept drinks filled, food coming, and somehow managed to wrangle our attention away from the giant fake gorilla mid‑roar. The kids adored her, and honestly, so did I. If you go, ask for Desiree. She's the only person I've ever seen outsmart animatronic animals and hungry children at the same time. 100% Recommended. read more

The Rainforest Cafe never fails in making me smile! The animatronics are simply epic to look at while eating! The music playing had also brought me back to a more nostalgic feeling. Between all the animatronics my favorite had to be the tiger. It was so cool to see it move and the attention to detail in every animal. The Rainforest cafe even had a photographer who asked to take our picture which was super awesome so we could save this memory. Now the service was good. Our waiter made sure all of our drinks were filled and was super nice! He made sure to get everything right and made the whole experience super easy. I had ordered the rasta pasta which came out great! It was a big portion size enough to share with a kiddo I'd say. It was salty but still super delicious. The table had also ordered a side of fries (can never go wrong with fries). The fries came out good but it wasn't anything special. For dessert I had gotten their seasonal flavor ICEE. The flavor was Coke and came in this super cute frog collectible cup! The ICEE was great and definitely helped cool me down in this San Antonio heat! Went to the Rainforest Café on a Friday afternoon when it was not very busy. It was easy to get a table without any wait. Several hosts/hostesses were chatting with the exception of one who, sat us and went out of her way to help find a baby sling as they did not have any at the moment. Our server did a great job with explaining menu items and taking our order. The food runner who brought our food seemed upset when we asked him to clear plates for our appetizer service. The food, including the burgers, pasta, ch chicken and fish tacos all were flavorful and up to par with other chain restaurants. The flavors were better than previous visits to the Rainforest Café. Portions are big so no dessert was ordered. By the time we left the place was getting pretty full. Advise you avoid primetime to avoid long waits as it is on the Riverwalk. read more

We went here as a fun little idea and didn't take it serious. The wait on a Saturday around 5pm was quoted at 45 min to an hour but was closer to 30 min. The service was good but busy. The decor was what you would expect. The alcoholic drinks were awful. I would just stick to soda. My boyfriend got the burger and did not care about it, but said the fries were good. Was so excited to have my friend experience a rain forest cafe and this one is dusty and dirty and such an embarrassment to the franchise. My friend ordered the chicken Alfredo pasta it was way undercooked and cold she didn't eat more than a bite and I ordered the tilapia and shrimp combo my coconut shrimp was raw, the green beans were cold and hard. Didn't ask to talk to a manager as it was difficult to get any service. Our table was smooshed in the corner of the wall and another table, and we couldn't even sit properly. Although there were plenty of other empty tables, they just wanted to put us on a table for two. The temperature was very cool as it was cold outside and it was very chilly in the restaurant. Reviews are accurate regarding the food quality. It's definitely not all that. It was busy but the waiters seemed to be struggling. Not sure if they are understaffed but it seems like due to the location and name they'd expect to be busy. Our waitress didn't tend to us often and took a very long time to bring our check. Shrimp platter was disappointing, everything was different temperature and was rubbery. The rainforest experience was great for the kids but just walking in and looking around would have sufficed. We were excited to take our son here as he has never been. We were seated next to the aquarium. He loved the gorillas and elephants in the restaurant that seem to make noises every 5-10 minutes. It was a nice "jungle" experience for him. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. He asked if I was part of the landry's restaurant club. I totally forgot that this restaurant was part of Landry's and I had $25 off. That was a pleasant surprise! Food was served quickly and was fair quality. Similar to Fridays or a Chili's. So I am going to start with we have eaten at several of these and always been great for the grandkids. We decided to treat them to it when in San Antonio because one had not been there. Had I reviewed it before we went I would have cancelled the reservation. IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! Everything from ck in to ck out!!! Service was terrible and we had a bday girl with us. I don't even know what to say except don't waste your time. Too expensive for what we got. They sat us in a corner with no air flow and it was extremely hot for June in San Antonio. I've always gone to Rainforest Cafe knowing the food and service weren't going to be great -- I only go because my daughter loves looking at the animatronic animals and feeling like she's in the jungle. That's the only reason we visit about once a month. But after our latest visit, I'm done. We were seated at 6:54 PM and weren't greeted by a server until 7:25 PM. The restaurant wasn't even busy -- there were maybe two tables per server. When we finally got our food, it was cold (as usual), and we had no silverware. We had to ask for it and sat there watching our food get even colder while we waited another 5 minutes just to eat. Then I found out they had overcharged my card by nearly $30. I brought it up to the manager on duty (I believe his name was Fernando) and politely asked if he could send me an email or put something in writing to confirm the refund. I wasn't rude -- I just didn't want the refund to be forgotten between shifts. Instead of helping, he got defensive, rude, and started going off about how they're "not shady" and don't do "shady stuff." Which was strange, because I was the one who had been overcharged and I was being respectful the whole time. If anything, I should have been the upset one -- not him. The next day they called and told me that manager could have refunded me that night, but didn't. Now they want me to come back in person so they can refund my card -- I live far away, and it would cost me the same in gas and parking as the refund itself. The manager who called didn't seem to care either. Honestly, I've tolerated the cold food and slow service for a long time just for my daughter's sake. But this time, between the rude manager, and how nonchalant the staff was about my money, I'm done. Is not even about the over charge but about the way the manager responded and acted like he was offended. My daughter will be just as happy at the zoo or anywhere else with animals -- and I won't have to deal with disrespectful staff and terrible service. Not too many prices are posted on the menu which was the first red flag. The hostess introduced me to the server as independent and strong because I'm eating solo before meeting up with a group. Had a great time here with the family! Hostess quoted us an hour wait, but we were seated in what seemed like only 45-mins. The place has three floors - 1st floor has the bar & souvenir store, 2nd & 3rd floors have the dinning areas. There is an elevator, but we took the stairs. We've been to a RFC before, but our waiter, Darrius, made it such a wonderful experience - especially for our 5-yr old. While the volume of the "Rainforest" sounds was a bit high, you definitely get the feeling of being in one. As for the food, everything was #Delish. Words can not describe how irritated my family was after our experience with this restaurant. We waited an hour and a half for our food which is an outrageous amount of time. We had to catch a basketball game at 7 and we arrived at 5:30. We asked our waiter and she kept saying, I'll check on that for you, and then proceeded to help other people. The tables behind us that arrived later and had bigger parties got their food before us. We finally had enough and stood up to pay for ours drinks and leave. We went to the hostess and asked for the bill and she was clueless. Another hostess helped us and she was nice, and called the manager. The manager took off our food but we had to pay $54 for our drinks which was 3 waters, a beer, and a watermelon drink. The manager was a young guy who was the most unhelpful manager I have met. He didn't offer a deal to make the drinks cheaper or anything, and made the excuse that our waiter had to walk up 3 flights of stairs but the kitchen was on the floor we were on and the 2nd story was closed. There was only 2 tables available on the bottom floor. Overall this has been the worst experience ever and we will never come back. We left hungry, irritated, and late to the game. We ordered an appetizer plate to share as the price of dishes is astronomical for the food...almost $30 for spaghetti? The appetizer plate was just not good. The egg rolls tasted awful, but the chicken strips were exactly what you'd expect from something that was heated up from a frozen state. We were "warned" coming in that the animals moved and there were thunderstorms... it did get very loud when that happened, but it was part of the "fun". I think the whole place could use a good cleaning and maybe a menu revamp with food that matches the price. I can say I've been there now...that's about it. read more

Seated in a side corner of what felt like a back room when we told them it was our kid's first visit (plenty of open tables in the main, open areas). The waiter asked us at least five times if we wanted to order drinks from the bar, couldn't fulfill simple requests for items like more of a topping, and tried to charge us for kids drinks that came with the meal. We had to have a manager correct the bill and when we told the waiter about it, he lied and said the apple juice we chose is considered an add-on. It's not. VERY clearly marked on the menu as included. Not a good experience. Two other tables close by also had complaints. The food and the manager were the only good things. The island rice is delicious. The manager was attentive and nice. The thunderstorms scared our 3-yr old a little, but he liked it by the end of our visit. Sadly, we won't be back and would not recommend this place. read more

The ambiance was typical rain forest cafe, dotted with strategic greens to commemorate the holiday. Prompt and helped make our visit even more memorable. We had the shrimp sampler for starters. The scampi was so overcooked they were dried out and tasted like rubber. The lady opted for something safe and went with the chicken fajitas while I dared the chef and went with the ribs steak shrimp trio. Fajitas were delicious. Steak was cooked to perfection. Ribs were what you would expect of a short order cooked pumping out ribs en masse. Fried shrimp were complimentary. We ended the evening with their Oreo cookie bread pudding,, which tasted eerily like banana pudding. And the sparkling volcano. A mountain of brownie, vanilla ice cream, topped with whipped cream, fudge and a sparkler for presentation. In a word, heaven!! But this was not what made the night memorable. I was just going to for the atmosphere, since husband has never been to one (my first experience was in Toronto), so I wanted him to at least try. I got the blackened fish tacos and they were so bland, there was no mayo sauce like most fish tacos have and there was nothing special about them. And the rice was boring and flavorless. This place is also way over priced for what you get. It's probably safer to go with a burger at places like this. The only food I enjoyed was the artichoke dip with chips. Also the drink my husband order had a fruit fly at the bottom of the cup so that was pretty gross. However our waiter was great and he made sure to fix the drink and made sure we had everything we needed.
