Nice big open space with high ceilings and friendly staff. Came for lunch and tried the zucchine and DOC pizza. The zucchine was enjoyable, but needed more flavor, maybe some garlic or lemon zest. As it is a white pizza, the zucchini puree is the sauce and they top it with burrata and speck. Again tasty, but I would order a different pizza next time. The DOC was very good (red sauce with buffalo mozzarella and basil) but portions of the crust got a bit blackened and burnt and when you bit into parts, that was the only flavor you could taste. After living in Italy for several years, trust me when I say that it's hard to replicate the outdoor, european dining summer experience with simple yet delicious food. Well, enter Ribalta Pizza. Their italian food is simple, delicious and effective for its ability to cover the majority of classic italian staples (like suppli, pizza ai quattro formaggi [4 cheese], and tiramisu). We ordered the mediterranean salad, the croquettes, eggplant parmesan and a series of pizzas. It was all good tasting, well cooked with us begging for more if our bellies could have sustained it. The inside of the restaurant is bustling, hectic yet organized with an open oven and multiple chefs rolling pizza dough. The bar is almost embedded into the dining area with plenty of tables and large groups of people clearly having a good time. Outdoors, there are a series of tables peppered with chairs and umbrellas. The waiting staff is not the quickest nor responsive, but to be fair - their outdoor space is quite expansive along the sidewalk. Everyone seemed to be getting the fried calamari and It looked delicious. Fried calamari and shrimp only had two pieces of shrimp, though the shrimp was quite good. We couldn't quite figure out what the sauce was since it seemed a little lemony but had barely any taste to it, was quite creamy. Looked it up and it was parsley and lemon aioli. The zucchini pasta was quite light and refreshing, very thin wood fired pizza. It's zucchini purée on the pizza and yum. Then the roasted octopus. I was picturing baby octopuses when ordering this, but it was a whole octopus leg. Pretty well done as it was soft and juicy. Have been wanting to try Ribalta and finally made it! First impressions not great as hostess needs an attitude check. Awful. I get it. It's a busy restaurant but you are the first interaction with customers. Once we got seated by hostess with attitude we were pleased with our very attentive server. Make sure you make a reservation as far in advance as possible. We made it three days in advance and had to take a reservation outside. Outside was fine, no issues. We started with the arugula salad, sausage pizza and meatballs. All were amazing!! We then split two different pastas which were honestly probably some of the most delicious pastas I have had in NYC. Insides ambiance was typical NYC, tight and loud but actually was somewhat happy we were outside as we could hear each other. Every table outside also booked. Ribalta was great, minus the hostess. A very cute restaurant to visit. The calamari appetizer was really good. I wasn't a huge fan of the broccoli rabe in the ribalta, it had a kind of bitter taste I couldn't get over but the margherita pizza was good! The Verdure is what won me over though. Everything about this rectangular pizza was amazing and as I usually don't eat the crust, I INHALED it on this one. I don't know what they did to it but it was delicious! It's truly a taste of art if you love cheese, truffles, highly quality flour (imported from Italy) and lots of flavor to your pizza. I looked up Vera Pizza Napoletana pizzerias in NYC and came across this one. I sat at the bar and ordered a pizza and gnocchi. The pizza was good and pretty close to what I've experienced with VPN pizzas in Wisconsin, which is the point. The pizzerias are supposed to follow the same rules, use the same or very similar ingredients, and use the same cooking methods. The gnocchi was okay. It didn't have the light, fluffy, pillowy texture I look for, but the sauce had a good flavor. The bartender was great and was actually from Wisconsin. read more

Great Neapolitan pizza and a good energy. One some nights it turns into a party too after a certain time

I have been to Ribalta about 4 times in the past few years but I will NEVER step foot in this place again. I knew this was not going to be a great experience from the second I walked in and was inundated with pumping house music. Then, the hostess sat me at 8:00pm (our reservation time) and immediately told me that she needed the table back at 9:15 for a party. First of all, not the first thing I needed to hear when I just wanted a dinner with some friends. Second of all, if you need a table back at a certain time- you would think that waiters would be on the ready as soon as we sat down. Negative. We were seated for 30 minutes before I had to ask a bus boy if we could order drinks. When the bus boy went over to a waiter that wasn't even working our section, he looked perplexed and reluctantly came over to take our order. When the apps came out at 8:45, they were all cold especially the meatballs. Then they took our order for our mains, which didn't come out till 9:10. At 9;35, when we were barely finished with our mains and 2nd drink- the hostess came over and told us she needed the table. At this point, I'm shook and could not believe how we were treated when the lack of service was your fault. There are way too many Italian joints in NYC to waste your time at this place. read more

We come at least 1-2 times a month and it honestly never fails. We have multiple allergy's in the group and they cover all the bases with fantastic alternatives, etc. Coming from a very Italian family and culture, we take our food seriously and are picky on Italian food, but they have never failed in surpassing the expectation every time :) Additionally, it is nice to be able to speak to most of the waiters in Italian and make it feel like you are dining at a pizza shop in a buzzing city in Italy.
