My friend and I decided to try the Chopped BBQ Brisket with coleslaw and we shared a basket of onion strings. Everything tasted delicious but I wonder if this place like many had been effected by inflation. The strings were not impressive and the chopped brisket sandwich was very thin but again very tasty. Parking in this area is free cause this is like a country mall. There is a long wait for this place as it's only competition here in the area that I noticed was a burger place. We waited a entire hour to get a table for 7. And there was still a wait after us so this is a busy place and I am not sure if they take reservations. The decor is rustic and country as expected. The wait staff is ok, nothing super impressive. This is definetly nothing special as far as service goes. The menu is also unimpressive. The same old texas bbq place with the options for the good and old fried okra and mac and cheese and the proteins that you can always find in this kind of place. I was very annoyed that after waiting a whole hour I was forced to toss away my drink cause they do not allow outside drinks into the restaurant. That to me was very ridiculous. We already waited so we will spend money. Such a silly policy. But I abridge so I can see if the place is worth the waste of a good drink. Now I tossed my drink away, had to order one of theirs and had to wait over 10 min for a drink. . What a horrible way to let your customer have a first impression. I was already aggravated to waste a drink to get in because I was hungry, now I sit here hungry and thirsty, good job!!! We ordered our drinks and I got DEEP EDDY'S SWEET TEA- that was a good drink, I did feel like it was as expected very weak drink but it was none the less tasty, but it did take a while to come after order and the fact that they made us TOSS OUT our own drinks before coming in just aggravated me to wait for this weak drink they served us. SLICED BRISKET- the meat was nice and tender. the sides were all a disappointment, it is a lot of food I must say SIDES: MAC AND CHEESE- tasted like box Mac COLE SLAW- not impressed tasted like supermarket brand GREEN BEANS - overcooked and sad BREAD PUDDING- omg I was actually disgusted by this one, the plate was fridge cold and the pudding was warm, it felt weird and it was just a waste of money, they did most likely hoped this thing in the microwave and tossed on a cold plate, terrible. Terrible. Ordered 3 meat with beef ribs, pork ribs, and sausage. When they give you a steak knife with an order of BBQ ribs that's not a good sign. The beef ribs were closer to beef jerky. I've actually had much better beef jerky. The pork ribs tasted like dirty smoke no seasoning at all. Sausage was bland, again no seasoning. I went to Riscky's on a Tuesday at about 2. They offered both indoor and outdoor seating. They handed me a menu and pre wrapped silverware. They menu had great options for any type of eater. I ended up finding a lunch special menu in the seperate drink menu. I got the lunch special chicken fried steak that came with 2 sides. It was the perfect portion! I got Mac and cheese and a baked potato. The potato toppings came on the side and you apply them yourself. Everything tasted great! read more

Welcome to Texas! For nearly two decades, I've come to this spot every time I visit the DFW area. It's gone up in price, and down in service. The food is still pretty much the same and, at least, there's consistency on the beef ribs!lol It's time the do some much needed updates to the location and improve on their customer service. We ate a early dinner at Riskeys during the week and found the place nearly empty. We were sat right away and the server was professional and courteous. They have a huge menu and I opted for the All You Can Eat Beef Ribs. The initial order comes with 4 ribs and you can reorder as many as you want, but they come in 2 or 4 only. The ribs were very tasty and I loved the dry rub. I could only eat 6 as they have a lot of meat in them for a beef rib. The fries were good also but were not served hot. They cooled off very quickly in the December air. My wife had a salad and the burnt beef tips. The beef tips were fantastic!! I would go back just for those. We loved the BBQ sauce so much that we took a bottle home. By the time we left (around 6ish), the place was packed. So I recommend getting there early. Next time I am at the Stockyards, I will go back to Riskeys. read more

This place is terrible! From their food to their service to their management. The restaurant itself is greasy and sticky. The whole demeanor of the establishment is off putting. It smells as if something was left to decay by itself in humid conditions. Um where to start. Party of 13...check. 930 at night on a Friday night check. Excellent Waitress check. We ascended on this place after a long wedding rehearsal famished. We had two tables of seven and six. Our waitress got our drink orders promptly and then got our food orders shortly thereafter. Food took a little time to cook but was correct and was hot. The front door staff was nice and despite a busy Saturday night, I was seated in short time. I was by myself and there were larger parties waiting. This may not be so fair because I'm from St. Louis and nobody does better BBQ than we do. I went out on the limb and ordered the AYCE Beef Ribs (16.99) with mashed potatoes. They didn't take long to arrive and I was looking forward to digging in but I lost my enthusiasm pretty quickly. These were the absolute toughest ribs, I've ever had. The AYCE is an easy bet for the restaurant because I don't see where anyone is going to fight through another round. The potatoes were okay and came with a white cream gravy. That was probably the best part of my dinner but the serving was pretty small. They say everything in Texas is bigger but I guess that doesn't apply to Texas Toast. Stopped by for lunch on a Tuesday with the Girlfriend, and Riscky's was very busy! Luckily, there is a large parking lot in the Stockyard area where you can get 2-hour parking for $2. We were promptly greeted by the host and seated at the patio area. The lunch specials were a fantastic value, so we ordered a bit of everything. For our appetizer, we ordered the fried corn, which was a bit pricey for the portion size. Also, it was overly sweet so I'd recommend getting a different appetizer. For our entrees, we ordered the pork ribs basket, fried catfish basket, and sliced beef brisket. All these entrees were lunch specials and most of them cost under $10, which is a terrific value! They also came with sides, and we chose french fries, green beans, fried okra, mashed potatoes, and mac&cheese. Most of the sides tasted decent, but the best side was the fried okra because it was well-seasoned and crispy. In regards to the entrees, the pork ribs basket came with a generous portion of tender ribs. The meat fell off the bone and paired well with their BBQ sauce. Unfortunately, the fried catfish basket was lackluster. The catfish was so under-seasoned and bland that we had to drench it in tartar sauce. The best tasting basket was the sliced beef brisket because the beef was very juicy and packed with smoky flavors. I highly recommend getting the sliced beef brisket! Overall, if you're in the Stockyards area, be sure to check out Riscky's BBQ because they have some great meats and terrific lunch specials! read more

Risky's as usual hit the spot with their ribs again on my latest visit to the stockyards but I have to say they have a bird problem and you do too if you eat on the patio. Within 5 minutes of sitting down I had bird droppings on my new shirt and before we left another gentleman had droppings on his shirt and the birds scored a hit on the bench at the table next to us, all within about 8'. This is not only messy and disgusting to eat in but a health hazard, may I suggest putting up some netting to keep the birds out of the eating area, you have curtains to keep the cold out. My suggestion to guests going to the stockyards to eat at Risky's is to eat inside and enjoy yourself. read more

We stopped for lunch on a Monday. The restaurant was about half full. I didn't visit the bathrooms but the rest of the restaurant looked clean. We sat on the patio. They had several tables and then some family style tables for multiple parties. They had decent prices on lunch specials. The beer prices were average. The food was good. Several of us had the brisket happy and I had a burger and there were no complaints. 4 of us with 1 beer each cost $55 (subtotal). The service was great. Alex wasn't overly social. This was our second visit to Riscky's in Fort Worth. Our first experience the food was excellent and possible one of the best Bbq I've tried in Texas. So we were excited to visit again, unfortunately the food this time was a letdown. I had the pulled pork platter with came with fries, coleslaw and beans. The pork had no seasoning and definitely had no smoke flavor. The coleslaw was bland and the beans tasted as if it was only boiled in water with no seasoning at all. The best thing on the plate were the fries because that at least had salt on them. This sediment was felt throughout our table and we had a party of 8 with different menu items. Not sure what happened, maybe it was a bad day but we left truly disappointed. I'm giving 2 stars because the brisket balls and fries were delicious. read more

While the atmosphere is lively with cold drinks, good music and lots of neon signs.. the service and the food itself didn't match the feel of Texas hospitality. Our server was friendly, however spent more time socializing with the other staff members than checking on us. The food was meh. The worst part was how uncomfortably hot the establishment was. Disappointed to say the least. Stopped for lunch here after passing few other places expecting a more pleasant experience. Couldn't have been more wrong. Ended up sitting at the bar which is usually one of the most knowledgeable and efficient staff positions having to be familiar with entire menu and also all the beverages but our bartender was lacking seriously. Female with clear frame glasses, she was friendly but was unfamiliar with menu, appetizer arrives after we finished food, bar areas has flies flying around beer taps, counter was dirty and over all very unclean. We both ordered a version of the brisket which was not very flavorful just warm and more fat than usual. Don't recommend. read more

Our food was soooo good. The brisket bites were something I'd never had thought to try , but when I did... there was no coming back from them. So ... freaking... good. The margarita was perfectly made, and my burger was incredible, the brisket I had on the side was some of the best brisket I've ever tried and their endless ribs were sensational. Our server Sonya did such a good job we were already a little tipsy or at least I was and she was so patient and provided us with such good service I am very pleased, I also left my receipt and needed a copy for reimbursement purposes with my company and CJ the supervisor spent 20+ minutes working it out on his computer and got me a PDF receipt to my email, and was so patient during the whole time, while his store was sooo busy he still made time for me and my needs that really made my night not even cappin, I am not originally from Texas but I am so pleased with my time here so far and was recommended stockyards and to try Risckys BBQ and I am so glad I did. Very disappointed with the BBQ. Prime location to offer outstanding BBQ but it did not meet expectations. The BBQ sauce is very sweet and the meat didn't have any flavor. We ordered the three meat plate with sausage, brisket and pulled pork. I wasn't impressed with any of it. We did order fried pickles for an appetizer and I did like those. The service was good and the atmosphere is what you would expect for a BBQ restaurant in the stock yards. After enjoying good barbecue for half of my life I promised myself I would take a break and try new things. I had been around the stockyards a few times in Fort Worth and have never really tried any of the restaurants. So I broke down and tried Risckys barbecue. I ordered the three meat combo platter ordering pork spareribs, smoked Catfish and the sausage. The sausage was just like sliced bologna without any substance or flavor involved. Sadly, the pork ribs were dry and the bark was very chewy. The smoked catfish was wonderful and I would highly recommend that as a standalone order. The coleslaw is very pleasing and it is something you would find yourself snacking on all day long. Nothing special about the barbecue beans. There may have been other items on the menu that could be yummy. Both my friends ordered the brisket tacos and we're both disappointed. Visited with my wife and 7-year old daughter. Service started off great. Attentive and timely. My wife got the shredded beef (which looks like sloppy joe when it comes out), I got the beef brisket, but lean. My daughter got the Mac and cheese with a side of beans. Food comes out, and immediately I look at the brisket, and it has fat & is fatty (marbled) to the point the brisket looks watery and almost pulverized. So fatty; not lean. I try to be classy in these situations, and said to our server, "I have a question. Is this lean?" I showed him the brisket. Like a deer in headlights, he put up a defense. "Well, I typed lean." & he stood there. I could see on his face that he saw & recognized the fat. So I am thinking , ok, not getting anywhere. So, I said, "Don't worry about it, let me talk to a manager. He started to get a manager, but then stopped in his tracks as if he were going to come up with some excuse to not get the manager. I said, "let me talk w/the manager. Don't stress yourself out." He talked to the manager behind me, as my wife, facing me and them, gave me the play by play. He talked for several minutes w/her, before she headed our way to talk with us. I explained that I ordered lean, but this was fatty. My wife, who is patient, saw the need to start tearing off fat and showing the manager. Manager finally said, "so you want a new one." I said, "yes, please. This is too fatty". New sandwich came out. Wife said it looked much better. I said to my wife, "this has fat on the edges, & it is more like chopped (chinks) brisket as opposed to sliced brisket. You know what, I don't want to eat this." My wife, for whatever reason, convinced me to eat it. She said, "oh no, this is much better than the previous brisket. She took a bit and said , yeah it tastes good." So I ate it. However, I had to tear fat off all the little pieces. Ugh. I put generous amount of bbq sauce from their bottles of bbq. It tasted as if there was no sauce on it. The brisket was not tasty, and was almost a chore or work to eat, and we had not eaten for over 6 hours. We were hungry. Last few bites, I spit out, because I did not see the fat to tear off. The brisket was dry. It tasted like it was warmed in a microwave. My wife did point out the very thin line of pink, which indicated it was cooked (heated) fast on the smoker, as opposed to thick pink indicating slow heating. But regardless, it was chopped, as opposed to sliced, & was so brittle & dry as if reheated in a microwave. I had to get up & refill my wife's drink, because our sever was absent after that, as if he were butthurt about me not eating the first mushy fatty brisket sandwich. My wife's shredded beef sandwich was cold until she bit the middle, which was warm. The bottom bun was soggy, & that made her comment that it had been sitting a while. I think it was unevenly warmed up in a microwave (warmed up on bun, soaking and soff ting up the bun, & uneven heating). So my wife asks for the check. When the server brought the check, I notice that he charged me: 1 soda for my wife (correct), 1 shredded beef sandwich for my wife (correct), 1 max & cheese w/ side of beans & lemonade (correct), & 2 (two) sliced brisket sandwiches (what?!). So I asked the server, "can you check that this bill is correct?" The server was waiting for me to just hand him my credit card as I reviewed the charges. His response to my question was, "well she told me to ring it up that way." So I said, a second time, "let me speak to the manager." So instead of the manager addressing this w/me, she never came. Instead, he & the manager left the overcharge of 2 sandwiches for me (I only ate 1 reluctantly), but "comped 1". Wait what? So a 3rd round of, "let me talk to the manager." Server said that, "I was supposed to get with her to get the 2nd sandwich comped." I repeated myself again, because I must stutter or something, "let me talk to the manager, because you are such the saint doing what she told you, I have to speak to her about this." He redirected, "well, like I said, I was supposed to have her take it off, & now it's fixed." Hmmm, oh really. I said look, "one thing that really pushes my button is when someone tells me 'I can't talk to the manager.'" He responded, refusing to go get the manager, "I did not say you could not talk to her." Oh ok, so using logic, I said, "then why aren't you getting her.", & I winked. Took her a while, & when she finally came, I explained that, " look, we are reasonable & only address legitimate food issues. I have never been charged for a remake of something that was not edible for me." Manager explained that she instructed him to ring it up that way & then get her to remove it (I guess comp it) for inventory purposes." If you need inventory tracking, make a 2nd ticket & don't let the customer see it. I said, "he acted like he was never told to get w/her. Not even a jog of his memory with 'is this correct'".
