So, I came to Texas in search of amazing BBQ. This place just did not do it for me. I was excited to be there because I was hungry and the location at Fort Worth Stock Yards was really awesome - It was like out of an old Western movie! The interior was airy and spacious, with a very down home cowboy-friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I went for the 3 Meats Plate, and ordered Beef Ribs (which is what the restaurant is known for), Brisket, and fried catfish. For 3 my sides, I selected fried okra (costs an additional $1), French fries, and mac & cheese. The Beef Ribs were HUGE, particularly the bone part. There wasn't much meat on it, and a good amount of fat. I didn't really enjoy these, as the meat was kind of tough and bland. The BBQ sauce helped a little. I liked the brisket much more. The brisket was actually tender and well seasoned. The catfish was delightfully crispy, and was quite flavorful with yummy spices. I did not like the mac & cheese. It was worse than Kraft instant mac & cheese. The cheese tasted so fake and horrible. The fried okra was just okay... They were cute little crunchy bites with some flavor. The French fries were decent and quite crispy. My meal also came with Texas Toast, which was just white bread with butter on it. Very bland and soft, which is definitely not my preference. Service was pretty good. Our waitress was friendly and nice. Prices are also very reasonable. However, food left much to be desired. I would certainly not return. read more

7 of us ate here on our full eclipse trip to Texas. Some dishes were good, some not so much. Here is a rundown of our orders: Brisket nachos were excellent, sliced brisket was cut with the grain (incorrectly) and as a result was nearly impossible to eat, all you can eat beef ribs were very meaty and worth the price, brisket tacos were stringy and uninspiring, and the sliced brisket sandwich was as expected. Most of the sides left a lot to be desired. Cole slaw had too much of a tangy vinegar finish, the potato salad was creamy and resembled mashed potatoes, the jalapeno cheese curds were good, but hardly any came with the order and as a result not worth the cost. The brisket bites were good. Bologna and cheese appetizer was good until it got cold. The mac and cheese was very disappointing and not recommended. Service was outstanding. In short, go for the all you can eat ribs, it is the best bang for your buck! read more

Was in FW for a three day staycation. Arrived a little early for our check-in so decided to drop in here as we've had good experiences here in the past. We had the three meat(brisket, pork ribs, 1/2 chicken) platter with beans, a baked potato and slaw. Our server Gus & I'm guessing the manager were the highlight of the visit. Gus Did an exceptional of taking care of our needs. The manager engaged us in conversation as he had seen us drive in and allow a tourist family time in the street to take pictures. Most of the stars are for them. The disappointment was the meat. No smoke flavor or seasoning, the brisket was way too fatty to the point of being greasy. The order came with a side of house ranch, which tasted good. I had some of my friend's fries, and they were average. Service: Our server was incredibly welcoming, accommodating and attentive. He checked in regularly and was quick with resolving our needs. The service alone bumped my rating from 2/5 to 3/5. Environment: The restaurant was moderately filled for a "linner" meal around 3 pm. They had indoor and outdoor seating (with covering) so we were able to observe the herd coming down the street from the restaurant, since they do their walk 2x a day. While at the stockyard, we go hungry and the all you can eat beef ribs signed lured us in. We expected it to be a pricy option, but we're surprised that it was only $13.99. The all you can eat beef ribs didn't disappoint. The ribs were good. Now, if you plan to really all you can eat, you're going to have to keep tabs on your waiter. They only bring 2-4 ribs at a time and by the time you catch the eye of your waiter, everyone else in your party has finished their meals and are ready to go. You can always get the all you can eat fried fish. The fish is ok. The sides were good. I loved the coleslaw. The side salad is a good size. For the appetizer, we ordered the Texas mess. I have eaten at the Fort Worth location on Exchange ave. several times, and to be honest I will never go back. It simply gets worse each time. I use to love to go there and order their brisket bites and I would tell others about it. But the last 2 times I went I never even got all of the food I ordered. The last 2 times I went I ordered a salad and ask for it to be brought before my meal. Not only was it not brought before my meal, I never got it and when I ask I about it both servers (different one each time I went) said "oh my bad, do you still want it" like I was bothering them to ask for the rest of my food. Tonight along with all of that I kept having to remind my server what drink I had and she still poured tea over my cherry coke and walked away. As someone who come from an industry of serving the public I know how demanding these jobs can be so I try to be easy to deal with but this has gotten ridiculous. Eeeek. We went in Sunday night and sat at the bar. We were not ever greeted or acknowledged. In fact, we had to ask the female bartender to wipe down the bar so we could sit. Any time we spoke to the 2 behind the bar we had to initiate the conversation. Terrible service. I will say, the food was good and came out fast but the service and run down filth of the establishment was overwhelming. I'm not sure how the health department allows this place to start open. I will include photos. - Don't sit under any of the props - especially the deer out Buffalo. These things were COATED in dust. Never cleaned - ever. The cords hanging all over the place- covered in dust. How is it safe to have all that electrical exposed anyway. - dirty rags sitting out on the back bar - notice in picture all the empty bottles placed on the back bar (tacky) After the dinner came out promptly we waited well over 20 min for the dessert. Meanwhile, instead of checking on the wait time or asking if we wanted more cocktails, the female bartender was busy holding hands over the bar with her boyfriend and chatting up friends while the customers sat unattended. Just had dinner there with 4 friends. It was a busy Memorial Day weekend and the restaurant appeared packed but through some miracle, we were seated immediately. I received my Hurricane within minutes of ordering it but my friends did not receive their soft drinks until just before the meal arrived. Not really sure what was up with that. I and one other in our party ordered the fried catfish and the other three had the all you can eat ribs. We ordered two appetizers which arrived late. We were told that we would be comped the appetizers because they didn't come out until the meal arrived. Unfortunately, I didn't check my bill until I arrived home and realized that they didn't comp us the appetizers after all. And I gave the waitress a huge cash tip, so that was disappointing to learn. But that was also the reason for 4 stars. They would have gotten 5 but that "mistake," I hope it was a mistake, cost them a star. But now to the food. My catfish was delicious as were the three sides I selected, coleslaw, green beans, and red beans. I was quite surprised with how tasty both of the bean sides were. I've had better coleslaw and this one seemed overly creamy and was a bit wetter than I like, but everything else was absolutely delicious and perfect. The only problem was, my dish was completely missing hush puppies and when compared to my friend's dish, had about half the amount of catfish nuggets. Not to worry. The waitress took care of it and brought out some more puppies and nuggets to resolve that matter, so, except for the soft drinks, the late appies, and the charge of the items that were promised to be comped, service was great. My friends really enjoyed the ribs but had to take the appetizers to go because of the timing. I found it interesting that the restaurant didn't ensure the appetizers were brought out early to a party with 3 all you can eat orders! They surely would have cut down on the reorders! Still, it was a wonderful meal. As far as atmosphere, it was typical stockyards with a loud, boisterous crowd but that's to be expected there. It's a fun place with interesting signs and objects of interest hanging on the walls. Stopped in for lunch today since the kid wanted shopping & BBQ Ribs. First off being in the Stockyards is awesome and the shopping before and after lunch is so fun! 98% of the places don't require masks and those that do are empty. So back to lunch. The kid chose Ribs and fries and I got the salad with grilled chicken. Of course I snagged a rib to taste....YUM! The sauce has an apple butter-ness to it....cinnamon maybe? Very nice addition to the dipping bread and well, anything that comes with your meal! The salad had a good amount of lettuce, ranch & croutons! Lastly, the bbq sauce was just ok. Not huge flavor and a little thin or watery. The only reason I didn't want to give 4 stars were the ribs I had were all very boney. I bit really hard and couldn't really get lots of meat.
