Cheese pops - garlic cheese curds
    Mike M.

Grabbed a quick lunch with my wife, she got her country on and went all in with the Darlington 500 a massive 1/2lb slab of deep fried bologna and onion rings. I opted for the Texas bbq burger with onion rings. Both sandwiches were good, the onion rings were huge (unfortunately so much that the batter didn't really stick. The service, we had a young man that was still in training but was very attentive and polite. They have peanuts available on the tables and a good bit of peanut shells on the floor. Didn't see any type of warning about this (doesn't mean it was not there just that we didn't see it) if you are allergic be warned.

River City Cafe is a great casual spot for lunch or dinner when you're craving classic café-style food. We ordered the grilled chicken salad, a burger, and onion rings. The onion rings were huge, crispy, and definitely worth ordering. The atmosphere is laid-back and fun, with that old-school casual vibe where you can snack on peanuts and toss the shells on the floor while you eat. A chill place to relax, grab a good meal, and enjoy comfort food with family or friends.

Fish and chips with garlic Parmesan fries

My fish was delicious!!! It was seasoned very well and had a great crunch on the outside. I didn't care for the garlic Parmesan fries tho. Just a personal preference. I wanted to try something different, just not my thing. My server offered to replace them with something else so I thought that was thoughtful. My daughter didn't care got her chicken nuggets but I tasted them and I liked them order good paired with a dipping sauce. Her dad liked his burger but said it could use some seasoning on the meat. Overall, I'd return and definitely get the fish again and try the colossal onion rings I saw going by several times!

River City Cafe has 4.1 stars for a reason: the food is excellent and the service is excellent. I wasn't hungry enough for me to order a full meal, so I shared with my wife the smash burger with onion rings. It was DELICIOUS! The food at the other tables look really good as well. I highly recommend this place .

Our waitress was Ashley and she was very friendly ! We had not been back in a few years. This particular night they were short handed on the service side. Long line of people outside was a good sign that this was still a sought after restaurant. Food took a little longer than we cared for but it was all very delicious. We had burgers and fried shrimp. The decor is "all over the place". You have to go to see what I mean. The License plates were numerous and varied.

HUGE onion rings and fried banana peppers

Great spot and even greater prices. Wonderful dive with really tasty food. Stopped by here for a drink and a snack and it did not disappoint. Enormous "world famous" onion rings and super crunchy fried banana peppers. Drinks are strong and very reasonably priced. If you're looking for a fun bar with delicious food that won't break the bank, this is it.

Peanut butter bacon burger with fries

This place is amazing! 10/10 recommend! I got the peanut butter bacon burger and it was hands down the best burger I have ever had! If I had to pick at anything, I would say our service was alright, felt like our server didn't visit our table near as much as other servers were visiting other tables.

We stopped by River City Café and loved it! There's a huge outdoor seating area with a fun beach vibe ... and don't forget to bring sharpie because you can write on the deck!. The staff was so friendly and attentive, gave great menu suggestions, and kept our drinks refilled the whole time. We ordered the cheese puffs (not pictured because we were too excited and dug in right away - SO good!), the Buffalo Chicken Burger, the Smashburger, and the Shoestring Burger. The portions are enormous and everything was delicious. For how much food you get, the prices are incredibly reasonable. We'll definitely be back!

This is my new go-to spot whenever I'm in Myrtle Beach! My Mom was craving a burger and this place was highly rated. We decided to give it a shot. The parking was a bit tricky but after entering I was told that there's additional parking behind the business. The waitress was really nice and chatted with us as we decided on what we wanted. There were seats outside and every table was full. We wanted our food to go so we ordered at the bar. I LOVE the decor style indoors. There are license places everywhere. I think that's very cool. I ordered their Peach Hot Chicken sandwich and cheese curds. The chicken sandwich was DELICIOUS!!!! Whatever sauce they used was so good. The cheese curds were yummy as well. I highly recommend this place.

Grilled ham and cheese sandwich with onion rings

We showed up here one evening as we searched for somewhere open without a huge wait. Somehow we missed the rush (as the server said.) They were open and there was no one there. I was afraid we had came in on them cleaning, but it wasn't time yet. They were still totally open. We nearly had the place to ourselves and it was heavenly! We were sat immediately and served right away. I tried a sandwich, which I don't remember the complete details of but I remember it being so tasty and toasty. I also had onion rings that were so big and so good! I also love the cups we could take with us. I'm all about reusing and this was excellent to take back to the house where we're staying at to use the remainder of our stay. Highly recommend!

The crab legs were delicious, two clumps with butter and lemons. We also had the shrimp and fries- 8 large shrimp lightly breaded with shoestring fries. Our land lover enjoyed the Reel burger- a juicy combination of chuck and brisket cooked to order. The bun was toasted and held up well to the burger. Overall the experience was very enjoyable. She was pleasant and patient, considering we had three teenagers at the table with one of them ordering like 5-6 sodas (to my dismay and horror lmao). She joked she should get one of our kids a pitcher. We had the fried chicken, the fried pork chop, chicken dumplings, and the BBQ ribs. Our favorite were the ribs. The sides were a hit. We got the fried okra, the mashed potatoes, the mac and cheese, green beans and fries. For the additional side it is $2.99 a person. Honestly, I felt the sides were so tasty & better than some of the meat dishes. The fried pork chop and the chicken and dumplings were not a hit at our table, but we did devour the fried chicken and get an extra order of ribs. We had no idea that this was a bottomless refill, but I don't know how anyone orders more than one extra entree because the portions are huge and quite filling. We were lucky to get a table close to the window so we could have a nice view. All of the workers were courteous & kind. If you are super hungry & have a larger party, you have to come here at least once, while visiting Broadway at the Beach. They also brought out biscuits to our table while waiting for our food, and those are hefty and warm. Hooray for another good Southern eatery during our visit to Myrtle Beach.

We stood in long lines during their popular years for hours in the morning, just to get a table reservation for dinner later that evening. Crazy as that sounds, it was always fun because we had such great conversations with people from all over the country while waiting. We also enjoyed meals there during the final days when standing in a morning line was no longer necessary. So I can say without any reservation that we would have never returned if the food we had today was being served back then. Paula Deen's fried chicken once upon a time was EPIC. But IMHO, this current offering in comparison is night and day to the deliciousness once served in Savannah. As a matter of fact, we didn't enjoy any of the meats or sides. Our food experience tasted like an entirely different restaurant recipe and to top it off the chicken was overcooked and dry, something we never experienced at Lady & Sons. After sharing our disappointment with management, our bill was cancelled (except for my cocktail) and we left, likely never to return. What a disappointing end to a fabulous food era, because the food at Lady and Son's was one of our families favorite reasons to vacation near Savannah. It was almost always the first meals of our vacation, but the food we were served on this most recent visit to Myrtle Beach they can keep. On a brighter note, the restaurant interior is beautiful and the location is fantastic. The staff were friendly and our server pretty much brought out the entire menu trying to satisfy us. Each bite of each item was so disappointing that I asked him not to bring anything else, but he insisted on finding something, anything redeeming. Unfortunately, nothing he brought out was to our liking, but we did appreciate the effort. [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] If you've never been to Lady and Son's, then the food here at Paula Deen's Family Kitchen might be acceptable. But I will forever miss what it used to taste like and the excitement my family had when I announced we would be eating at Lady & Sons! Management said they use the same recipes, but my taste buds heavily disagree.

They always want to sit in the Raccoon Cove bar out back, which has a great fireplace for cold nights and a food stand that brings the local raccoons by for dinner. You can also watch them from the sunroom-style dining room if you'd rather stay inside. The indoor decor is fun too (Ace Ventura would call it a lovely room of death) with all the animal trophies on the walls. The pork ribeye over sweet potato mash isn't going to win any beauty contests, but don't judge that book by its cover because it was very tender and delicious. It's definitely a new favorite! The Steak Au Poivre is another one with a sauce that elevated an already well-cooked (but not well-done!) steak. My wife's Seafood Alfredo was wonderful, including the bites she let me steal, and the Lowcountry chowder was excellent. Her other favorites are the Filet Neptune and the Mahi-Mahi. The Thai BBQ ribs are also a big hit with the family, but somehow I still haven't gotten to try one. Next time. This is the "good" Joe's. They don't serve hamburgers here, but they do know how to cook a steak. The food is excellent, the service has always been good, and they've nailed the local upscale-casual restaurant and bar vibe. The only real downside is the tiny parking lot. You can park at the ice cream place too (overflow lot), but Joe really needs to make friends with the beachwear megastore next door because their back lot always seems to have plenty of empty spaces!
