I think it's pretty unanimous - the absolute best bang for your buck, you just can't go wrong. This is not gonna be omikase level sushi, but goodness me, this place absolutely hit the spot without breaking the bank. Sorry to say, I am one of many fans so the wait can be long and popularity equals long lines. They are closed between their lunch and dinner rush so pay close attention to their hours of operation. Also be cautious where you park, there's a section of the parking lot that is reserved for CSUF only!

I have been hearing about how good this place is on Instagram, so since I have physical therapy in that area, I decided to try it out. The line was long but moved fast. I ordered the chicken plate with rice and salad, vegetable and shrimp tempura, with a side of edamame. The chicken was very tender and flavorful without the sauce. Tempura was just ok it was too crunchy. Edamame was good. Across-the-board the the food and the unbelievable prices are amazing. They need to upgrade their furniture they have chairs that are very torn up and can give you a splinter. I will go back soon. Effortless parking in the parking lot. Note: They make fresh cut rolls.

Let me just say -- sometimes the best meals don't come with a hostess stand, mood lighting, or a 45-minute wait. Sometimes they come in a clamshell container, parked between cupholders, with the AC blasting at 77° and Google Maps still open. This is strictly a takeout spot. No dine-in. No frills. Just grab your food and go live your best parking-lot sushi life. My son (18, college student, and very opinionated about food) swears by this place. And listen... I went in skeptical because "favorite spot" from a teenage boy can mean a lot of things. But I was pleasantly surprised. The sushi was fresh, clean, and actually flavorful -- not that bland, grocery-store roll energy. Generous portions, good balance, and everything tasted like it was made with care. We also grabbed a chicken rice bowl and the chicken was tender and juicy -- not dry, not chewy, not "this has been sitting under a heat lamp since 10am." Legit good. We had a full "lunch in the car" moment and honestly? It kind of slapped. There's something elite about passing soy sauce packets across the center console and rating rolls mid-bite. If you're looking for ambiance, this isn't it. If you're looking for solid, fresh sushi that hits every time and doesn't require a production? 10/10. Would absolutely eat in a parking lot again.

It's really 4.5 stars but I will round up. How many of you have seen this place after all those TikTok and IG clips ?!?!? Parking is super easy. I went a little before 2pm so the wait wasn't bad, maybe 10 min. It was still pretty busy. Since I made a bit of a trek from South OC, I had to get my money's worth. I ordered the following rolls Alaskan, Ken's Special, Philly, Spanish and the Baked Salmon. My fav was the baked salmon. It's definitely the best bang for your buck sushi. The quality is great for the price you pay. Enjoy the pics. If I am in the area I will definitely stop in again!

Very nice .... affordable and straight to the point. This takeout only place seems to be run by efficient people. The menu says it all. Simple and not overpriced Of course the sushi isn't high class but it does get you by.... Located in a strip mall just before the usps branch... There's always a line during peak hours so go on non-peak. You line up. Order and pay at the counter then wait for your name to be called: everything is for takeout though. The bowl prices are affordable..ambiance wise.. it's only take out and most of the people that go here are students and nearby office workers... Will i be back.. probably yes! Everything was quick even if there was a line.

Wow, what a find! I've passed by this restaurant many times and heard great things about their food and prices. I finally had a chance to go today and was pleasantly surprised to see their fair prices, especially this economy, and generous portions! It is a to go only, but there is ample space to sit while you wait. They are quick, good service, and worth the short wait! I ordered 2 chicken plates and a Crunch Dragon roll - which 1 plate was enough to share but it's ok, I'll have lunch for tomorrow. I'll definitely be back and a regular to try more items on their menu!

DON'T tell your friends about this place! The line is constantly out the door and down the sidewalk we don't need the line any longer. BUT there is a good reason for that! THE most reasonably priced delicious sushi I have had. The local college students love this place. We like the spicy tuna rolls, Mexican roll, Alaskan roll, and eel. It's a mom and pop type place. You better be ready to order when you get to the front of the line because the mom that runs this place is fast! They have a lot of staff so the food doesn't take too long considering the line. It's not a fancy place, it's take out only, There are other options like bento boxes and teriyaki bowls. You also can pour on spicy mayo or eel sauce on your food before you leave. It's our new favorite take out sushi especially because of the price.

Stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon/evening and the place was packed! There was a line outside the restaurant but luckily it was moving fast and the wait wasn't too long. Vibes were super casual and restaurant only does takeout orders with chairs inside the restaurant for those waiting for their orders. Staff was attentive and parking was easy in a shared lot. 1. Alaskan Roll- generous layer of salmon over a cali roll- super fresh and definitely for the salmon lovers 2. Salmon hand roll- packed with sashimi and fresh avocado. Generous portions of both and probably something I'd get again! Best enjoyed fresh though as seaweed gets soggy if it sits out for too long. 3. 5 piece sushi, 8 piece cali roll combo- solid combo to try a variety of sushi. Also tasted very fresh and appreciated how it came with a side of miso soup and salad! At this affordable price and good quality, I would definitely return to try other menu items!

No wonder this place is out the door! Great varied menu all items made to order. Amazing low prices. Very efficient and cheerful host. Take out only, no parking in the college lot west of the restaurant ticketable. Now the food. My first time, The salmon skin hand roll was excellent, crispy and well seasoned. I ordered the chicken and beef bowl. I preferred the chicken over the beef. Freshly grilled chicken mixed white and dark and great flavor. Included teriyaki sauce was good not too sweet. My next trip will be for hand rolls and sushi. I think you can customise a bit too. Some rolls have imitation crab but lots of actual seafood avail. The menu pics are a bit clearer. Don't let the line hold you back. Roll and grill is definitely worth it. The owners have found the sweet spot for success.

Their sushi and rolls are fresh. For these prices, this place is amazing. There is no seating so basically this is a take out place. When I went today on a Thursday afternoon the place was packed with a line almost out the door and I see why. I don't know how the meat plates are but someone in my group who had the beef plate said it was just ok. We were all more than satisfied with the sushi platters though and I would absolutely return to order platters. You must order platters a day in advance. I tried ordering the day of and they said no can do. Also, there is a two platter limit which is a shame. They do not accept Amex.

This is a casual sushi and protein bowl/plate for an affordable price that is hard to come by in this current economy. That I will commend for that as I noticed most of the customers are college students and possibly those with tight living budgets. This is a takeout only place as they cleared out all the tables and chairs away. Because this was our first time here, we had some questions about the menu and wanted to clarify if we were able to choose certain fish or if it was a set menu. When it was our turn to order, we asked the cashier, who I think is part of the family business. She was so annoyed at us for asking if we were able to choose what sushi we wanted in a plate. Here's the thing. The menu is not clear about this. If this is a set menu with no modifications allowed, then it needs to be mentioned on the sign. They should really update the menu board to make it clear. Don't get angry at the customers because of the vague menu sign you have. I almost regretted coming here. We waited a long time for our food to be ready as there were also people doing takeouts as well. Something I noticed was that people were opening their containers to put sauces. As seen from the photo, they are self serve. I saw the same cashier lady getting annoyed at someone for asking sauce cups, and there's even a sign there you cannot use water cups as sauce cup. I've never seen a place like this before, in a bad way. We came back home to eat our food and honestly, I was ready to write a 1 star review of this place. Sushi itself was actually not bad for the price. Salad was decent, but Miso soup was so bad, it was pretty much brown colored water. For the price for what it comes for, it's pretty good. Would I come back here again? Only if I'm on a tight budget and other sushi places aren't an option, I might come here, but just buy few pieces of sushi and that's it. I'll make my own miso soup at home.

A really nice little restaurant I found near my house. Their rolls are really good and I always get their sashimi too. Their prices are also pretty fair right now especially with everything like groceries being super expensive at the moment. The workers there seem very nice, I do recommend trying it out if you ever drive by. read more

First off, I would like to say that the service is A+++ here even when its very busy. They definitely go out of their way to give you what you need and serve as quick as possible to you. On top of that, the prices here are VERY affordable, especially for all of the college students around, like myself. During school, I come here about 3 times a week. I've gotten many of my friends to come here multiple times a week. If you are nearby, you must be crazy not to have Roll and Grill in your lunch or dinner rotation. This fast casual provides great food and amazing service for the best price. The workers here might not be giving tableside service, but they are hustling all day, everyday. So be sure to leave a tip. They have the simple rolls and sushi for an absolute steal of a price compared to other sushi spots! However, this isnt even the best part. The star of Roll and Grill is the Lunch Combo A. Served ALL DAY. I dont believe there is a deal better than this. For $5.33 exactly, you get Teriyaki Chicken, Rice, Salad w/ ginger dressing, 2 gyoza, and a vege egg roll. One of these will get you feeling full. Sometimes I split it into two meals when I'm not too hungry. I buy it so often, I compare everything to the Combo A to see if it's worth buying. "Should I really buy this shirt? Nevermind, that's 4 1/2 Combo As right there" No need to thank me for trying this place. So far this little hole in the wall Restaurant surpassed my expectations. First by it's affordable prices and secondly by it's delicious and very tasteful satisfying half beef and chicken plate. The salad's flavorful dressing and steam veggies cooked just right I will definitely be coming back. We went on a Saturday and the line extended to the door. The only thing is that it has little bit of sitting tables. We sat by the counter but we didn't mind. I will definitely recommend this to everyone. Are they authentic? Not really. They are Korean-owned. The owner has learned to mass produce sushi to limit costs. Are the ingredients fresh? Kinda. Japanese sushi is about freshness and presentation. The sushi are freshly made but sloppily put together. So why the 4-stars? They prices are reasonable. Don't let the exterior facade fool you. I was skeptical coming in for the first time for sushi. The exterior facade didn't grab my attention. However, because of good reviews from friends and having no new lunch options, decided to stop by for lunch. Plenty of parking. Interior is small with about 7 tables. Good atmosphere. Music not too loud. Good A.c.. The menu is simple. Prices are very affordable. Ordered 8 piece sushi and 8 piece California for $11.95. Got order brought to my table within minutes. Good portions. Sushi looked fresh and tasted great. I've tried Chomps at downtown Fullerton and this spot has better sushi. My son got chicken bowl. Good portions with vegetables. Chicken tasted good, not like chicken served at nearby flame boiler which is heated. Overall. Good food at affordable prices. Will be back for more. read more

Came here twice. Both times were pretty good. The fish in the rolls is excellent and the portions are good as well. The prices are relatively cheap. My biggest complaint would be how the rolls are rolled. Quite often, I would pick up a piece only to have it fall apart. Other times, I would try and pick a piece up and it wouldn't be cut all the way through. Overall, I would definitely recommend coming here. read more

Disgusting food, the rice falls apart when you pick it up, the tuna and salmon have zero flavor, the avocado seems borderline expired,they definitely use the cheapest ingredients and they package it horribly. Very sad to see a restaurant not care about the product they serve. Not sure why people keep eating here. read more

The workers--they are so busy but are on top their game! I came here on a Thursday night and in front of me were two customers who both ordered large portions. The cashier had to juggle several phone calls while keeping the line flowing without too much of a wait (several came in after us) and she handled it so well. Same goes to the 5-6 chefs behind her. Within 10 minutes of stepping foot into this place, I was quickly handled my order of 2x California rolls (only came out to$6.36 total). I'm so incredibly impressed with the ones made here. I've had bland ones that were double the price. One minor note: if you plan to pay with card, the minimum is $4. read more

This place is great if you're looking for an affordable option for sushi and Japanese food. It caters to the college crowd, so don't expect high grade seafood. From my experience, it's the best place to get some classic to-go sushi. It doesn't remind me of Japan, it reminds me college. That's all that matter. read more

This is my favorite place to hit up for lunch when I'm working. The rolls are so delicious and affordable! I love the crab and have come several times just for the California rolls by themselves. Their miso soup and other sushi rolls are so good, and I love their lunch deals! Can't wait to keep coming back for more. read more

I discovered roll and grill a few months ago after moving down the street. I'm so glad I stopped in here because the sushi is great. I wasn't expecting a little place like this to have such good sushi and teriyaki. Added bonus, The prices are extremely reasonable! I very quickly made this my sushi destination of choice and I'm now stopping in at least once a week. The staff is friendly and makes you feel right at home. Edit: I brought my family here and my dad, who is a sushi snob, said it's just as good as the sushi at Zuma sushi and no nobu in malibu read more

This place sucks! The Asian lady working the front counter is beyond rude! Doesn't greet and tries to rush you. I asked for some hot sauce and she always tells me that they can't give me any when I can clearly see so much hot sauce in the back. Stop being stingy with sauce. It's not that serious. read more

Absolute worst service I go in place my order and the lady working the front is rude. I am waiting for my food and the guy with glasses is calling out names and can't pronounce names so I go up and ask if my orders ready and the lady tells me to go sit back down. At this point I'm frustrated because people are walking in ordering and getting their food quickly while I've been inside this hot shitbox for 20 mins. So I eventually go up and ask if my foods ready and the same asshole with the glasses that can barely speak English says did I call your name? No so go sit back down. I said my name and he had my food sitting on the table all along and he then says yo yo yo yo yo at the top of his lounges and screams at me for going to sit back down to wait and he then gets aggressive and angry when he practically throws my food at me. HOLY SMOKES, where do I even START?! This is -- HANDS DOWN -- the WORST customer service I have EVER experienced. I stood in line OUTSIDE for several minutes with FIVE people ahead of me. Let's be CRYSTAL CLEAR: they close at 7:45. It was 7:30. We FINALLY squeeze inside around 7:35, and the cashier -- without missing a beat -- POINTS RIGHT AT ME and announces the guy ahead of me is the LAST person she'll serve. I told her I'd been standing outside the ENTIRE TIME. Did she care? NOPE. Then a cook pipes up with "too late, no more." TOO LATE?! It was TEN MINUTES before close. TEN. And they'd rather SLAM THE DOOR on PAYING CUSTOMERS than do their actual JOB. If THIS is how you treat people who showed up BEFORE closing, then NO THANK YOU -- I am NEVER setting foot in here AGAIN. And sometimes you will be surprised how they remember your orders. These days so many people are crying about hot sauce while they even put a sign that they don't have a hot sauce to provide.(The Sriracha company stopped making the sauce some how.) I hope they stop crying for it, it will come, give them a break. They don't hide things from you nor deny your request unless you being a disrespectful. we come here often and it's always good and busy but today i placed an order through the phone, waited the amount of time the girl told me and when i went in it wasn't ready (which is fine) - i waited about fifteen minutes more before i asked the guy taking orders just for an estimate of how much longer because i had my pet in the car. he then caught an attitude telling me when i come in to order and see a lot of food on the counter expect to wait 15-20 minutes. um yeah i did wait almost 45 minutes and watched people that came in after to me to order leave with theirs ??? completely unnecessary attitude ,do better it's not hard to simply be kind. read more

The prices for this restaurant are unbelievable. For an 8-piece California roll, it costs $2.95. I don't know how they can have their prices this low while keeping their quality as good as it is. They never take more than 10 minutes to make your food and the employees are really nice.
