Pretty alright. I went there at midnight one time, cuz I was having a rare craving for donuts. I didn't like it. It was all stale and nasty. So, I don't recommend it at night - not the freshest stuff out. (Go to Yum Yum or something at the later hours) However, I went there during the day and it was SO good! I was running errands this morning and found my way to Rose's...I've been to the Rose''s down the hill which on the weekends has a huge line.. Apparently, the two shops are relatives and the the receipes are a little different..The owner was very nice in and gave me a sample to show me how fluffy their donuts are...Take a look at my pic, the glazed was almost an inch high and super light...Not a dense sugar bomb like some other places..I had their breakfast bagel sandwich which was real good and then I spotted some Blueberry caked donuts!! You don't find these much around town ( Not that I'm a cop or donut monger) and know all the local shops...HA.. I've heard of the Blueberry Donut place up in Anaheim but no need to run up there after you try these...I will be back here when the craving hits! read more

I used to live across the street (by Mesa college) and discovered this place has the biggest fluffiest glazed doughnuts I have ever had. Just the good ol glazed doughnut rings. I have yet to be let down with these. There was one time where the twists were a little dried out but I simply nixed those and problem solved. Ooh and the maple bars- yumm. I wanted a donut with a stronger fragrance of chocolate in every bite. My donut was a cake donut, but the cake portion was just okay. I did see the big donuts they sell - think donut but bigger Overall, it was a decent cake donut. Not great, not the best. When I went mid-afternoon, there were only a few selections to choose from. ROSES DONUTS is by far the BEST donut place around! If you crave a good donuts in the evening (which I normally do) Connie has them coming out warm every hour or so. The staff is so friendly. After going in a few times Connie (amazing staff member that works the night shift) remembered mine and my husbands names and what our favorite donuts are. She also knows how my husband likes his coffee. She is the nicest person and makes us want to go back for donuts everyday! I read plenty of reviews on here about Rose Donuts and should of went to the other one, or at least tried them at the same time. In my opinion I thought that the donuts were a bit too heavy and hard. Some of the reviews posted said they were light and fluffy. I tried 3 and none of them were light and fluffy!. They were hard to break apart, heavy on the plate and the stomach. I'm on my way to try the other Rose Donuts with a hope for a lighter, fluffier, tastier donut. My all time favorite donut shop that I have been going to for years is Mary's Donuts in Santee. From all the reviews posted here on yelp I was expecting something amazing and when I left Rose donuts I left with the feeling that I have had better. Service was great, prices were reasonable for donuts and it's great that it's only a couple minutes from the where I live. The donuts were tasty, sweet like they should be, jus fell a little short for me. This is the best place for donuts in San Diego and there is nothing that comes close (Wedekings Bakery in Escondido has good cake donuts though). I think they are very consistent whether you have donuts in the morning, lunch, evening, or in the middle of the night. I know for a fact that they make donuts throughout the day which gives their donuts the freshness that can't be beat. My favorite is the blueberry-apple fritter. I am giving them four stars or probably 3 1/2 because, today the girl who works their was not patient at all while taking my order although I was fast . And she was wearing the mask with her nose out and holding the box with no gloves on .And at the end during the payment she kept asking for something over and over and I got her from the first time .I was just grabbing something out of my pocket and she kept insisting , she was very inpatient .It has been a while since I have been there. I'm not a huge donut fan. I don't like them airy and light. The buttermilk and cake donuts are so thick and delicious this is the only donut place I will order from. My boyfriend is a huge donut fan so some Sundays we will order on postmates a half dozen donuts and 2 of the croissant ham, jalapeño, and cheese sandwiches. Wow the croissant sandwiches are insanely good!!!! Also, we have ordered twice and each time I will call and ask what donuts they have available before ordering on postmates and the woman who answers is the sweetest woman! Mom and pop shop which is cash only. Came here and ordered a dozen variety donuts in which the blueberry donut was a stand out. The blueberry donut is a cakey texture and had the crunchy outer edges because of the glaze. It was delicious!
