Another restaurant that deserves to go out of business for their lack of service. Waited over 40 mins to get one dish of food while the other 2 never showed. 1hour into dinner and waiting they come by and say we are sold out of soy chicken that we ordered. Pretty sure we ordered that dish before a few tables that came after us. Pretty all the tables were eating before we even got a second dish. I would never return or recommend this place unless you are friends of the establishment.

Prior to Royal Garden Seafood Restaurant was another Chinese restaurant that served the same kind of food. The decor was completely the same as before. Nothing has changed since the change hand of management. Anyways, my parents took me here and they said they had to introduce me to this restaurant and that it is very good. I ate before coming here but because they insisted I came anyways. We got half order shredded chicken, Deep fried milk with beef and Tofu with Pork Paste. I tried a little of everything and every dish that we ordered came out tasty and freshly made upon ordering. We were somewhat surprised that the restaurant was pretty empty on a Saturday night. The meal came with complimentary desserts and we got the red bean soup. Prices were very reasonable. I say prices are way better priced than Vancouver restaurants. I will definitely be back.

Pretty average Cantonese restaurant when there are a ton of better options in this prime Richmond location. I came here for dinner on a Saturday night around 7pm. We called to make a reservation before, and we were told that we didn't need to - kind of speaks to how popular this restaurant is. We ordered a variety of dishes including lobster, beef w/fried milk, scallop eggplant egg tofu pot, garlic pea tips, and fish maw soup (sorry don't remember the full names). Everything tasted alright (the egg tofu dish was great) minus the garlic pea tips, which didn't seem super fresh, but we just expected more from a Cantonese restaurant in Richmond. We also got tofu fa as a dessert - this was really worth ordering as it comes out in a cool bucket presentation and is only $10. Service was just meh here. The silverware all just seemed a bit worn/dirty and we didn't have our plates changed. Parking is in a covered garage, go up to the 3rd level and there is a direct door to Royal Garden. Overall, the prices are fair for what you get, but there are so many other better places for Cantonese cuisine in Richmond.

I am not super impressed by this place - the food does get the job done to satisfy my Cantonese food cravings, but I have had better. We got a bit more of other larger dishes besides dim sum, as we had primarily dim sum the day before as well (at a different place). We got har gow and siu mai, as well as deep fried purple potato balls, Portuguese egg tarts, deep fried squid tentacles, deep fried fish skin, vegetable with tofu skin, and pan fried lobster with E-fu noodles. Dim sum here is pretty average. For example, har gow has some mushy filling to pad up the volume of the filling, so much less shrimp is used than the other places I have been in the area. Portuguese egg tarts are decent, and the deep fried purple potato balls were interesting as there were 2 layers of fillings. The deep fried stuff is a little bit too oily and bland. The squid tentacles texture was great as it was chewy, with a little bit of crunch outside, but it ended up oily and a bit too floury. If they added some green onions and garlic, this dish would be many times better. The deep fried fish skin was better, though, as there is salted egg yolk on top to give it an additional depth in flavor. On the healthier side, I really enjoyed the vegetable with tofu skin. There is a lot of sauce for this dish, though the bok choy and tofu skin are pretty soft and light. Lobster E-fu noodles were priced very well. There is a good amount of lobster meat with some solid noodles, albeit on the softer side. It is very saucy and rich. I have had better in the states, though those are priced almost 2x as much after conversion, so it is hard to compare. It does satisfy the cravings adequately. Service is not that great. I know Chinese restaurant service is very mediocre, but this is worse than other Chinese restaurants I have been in the area. We flagged down the server multiple times in order to get something - usually flagging down the server just once will satisfy the request in a timely manner. The lobster E-fu noodles took over an hour to get it, after following up 3+ times. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, by comparison to the other dim sum places I have been so far here, so it is a bit unacceptable that the service is quite disorganized. This seems to be a relatively new place, so I hope they figure out a better system in the future.

We came here for brunch on a weekday. Only one other table there when we arrived. We got the salted egg yolk buns, deep fried ham sui gok (pork filling), Dan San (fried crispies), taro puffs, za Leung (rice rolls with fried Chinese donut) and steamed shrimp dumplings. The service is quick and friendly. The food itself was okay. Not the best dimsum and not the worst. The salted egg yolk buns had a good amount of egg yolk flavour and the bun was fluffy but I wouldn't order it again. The Ham Sui Gok was crispy but WAY TOO THICK. There was way too much outside skin and too little inside pork. The Dan San was crispy and portion was quite large. The taro puffs were also crispy and the filling was quite delicious. Some had shrimp inside with the pork and others did not. The rice rolls wasn't soft enough and didn't have the rice fragrance I was looking for. The steamed shrimp dumplings were pretty standard. Shrimp was crispy and the skin wasn't too sticky or thick. Overall the food is okay overall. No big misses or big hits either. Nothing I would come back for. But I would come back to try their dinner menu.

Yum! Came by on a Sunday afternoon around 1 PM and was seated immediately. Parking is very convenient as there is an entire garage. You can park on any level and there are stairs/elevator that will take you to the restaurant entrance. If you want to drive straight up, the restaurant is on the third level. Service was really wonderful with servers checking often if you need anything and seeing how much tea you have left. There is even a robot server that will come zooming by with your items. Each of the items was so delicious. I highly recommend the hargow that are packed full of yummy shrimp. I wish there were more vegetable items on the dimsum menu like gailan or bokchoy.

May be it's because we are all in "food coma" by the end of dinner! This visit was for dinner - and we were outside the door waiting even before they opened at 5:30. On a Tuesday. And we were already second in line. Celebrating a birthday, we had cold jellyfish starter, lobster fried e-fu mein, braised pomelo skin with seafood, and beef fried kai lan. The lobster was perfectly cooked. Even slight over-cooking can make the lobster meat tough. However, every piece was perfectly cooked. Including the large claws. Cooked with ginger and scallions, the lobster gravy coated each strand of e-fu noodles to umami yumminess. The braised pomelo skin was a special seasonal dish. I have not had this dish in many decades, and when I saw this in the special seasonal menu, I had to get it. The bittersweet braised pomelo skin complemented perfectly the fresh seafood, and topped a bed of Chinese spinach. It was the first time for the other members of my family and they literally sucked it all down. The beef with kai lan was another standout. Beef slices were tender and delicious and that perfectly complemented the well seared gai lan - great evidence of wok hei. Service is exemplary. Not just for a Chinese restaurant, but for any restaurant. The servers are constantly on the alert, and Everytime they see a plate filled with lobster shells, they would whip it away and replace it with a clean plate. They made sure that tea cups were filled and kept us updated with the delivery of the next dish. And at the end of the meal, dessert (Tong Shui) was complimentary... and they added a wonderfully light and flaky walnut cookie and piece of mochi for each of us.

Hei Hei Rice Roll is legit good, totally recommend, even my daughter too, I thought of her ( since she LOVES rice roll and couldn't make it on this trip with me) while enjoying these roll but when I shared with her the photos and mention that we will go back here with her- she already visited. She said it was so good! Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond Public Market, oh wow - this place is really popular, on the 2nd visit I was the first in line then the line wasn't so long but while waiting for our order, the line got super long. I was lucky I didn't wait long in line. Best to arrive early. I am not sure what the secret to the rice roll but Wow, it's so thin, silky, smooth texture with the toppings, so great together. The last 2 times we had rice roll with my daughter at Portland and Seattle- followed per Instagram reels- those did not even compare to these rolls. My first visit I got the combo which is the best deals, starts at $15.50 but depends on what you select for the selection for rice rolls and congee. I got the pork & preserved egg congee, shrimp, mushroom, pork rice roll. The 2nd visit I got the combo again, with liver & preserved egg congee, scallop and shrimp rice rolls, but I got my order wrong for the roll- they missed the shrimp. fyi-I found out that bean sprout, corn, toppings are free! Both combo came out to $17. super cheap! Cash only, they take USD but its the same dollar $ value. I wish they take credit cards, hehe. & the Verdict: Yummy, the congee hits the spot for comfort food, loved how it is cooked and they add peanuts too. Love the packet of sauce for the rice rolls, the umami-ness, so good. Best to eat it hot and fresh! Don't forget to ask for chili sauce, to add that extra spicy kick! For now, I am not sure I'll ever find a spot that is closest to Hei Hei for my congee and rice roll fix until I get to visit Richmond, BC again.

(Richmond is the location to be, we don't like the Vancouver location due to previous incident) We made a reservation two days before, and were immediately seated when we arrived. (11am for lunch). The place was maybe less than half full at the time, but was pretty full by the time we finished. The whole restaurant felt clean and comfortable. We were hoping for an 8 lb king crab (or less) as there were only five of us including two kids that ended up not really eating much of the crab (as expected), and the smallest they had was over 9 lbs, no big deal let's go! We had the king crab three way, garlic steamed for the legs, salt & pepper for the joints, and the rest was made into a fried rice. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, our cravings were truly satisfied. We also had several dim sum items for the kiddos, and they were happy with the quality (not pictured are BBQ pork bun, egg tarts, and XL). If you plan on having leftovers, do what the locals do and bring your own container. Otherwise they charge you 50 cents for a takeaway box.

Absolutely positively amazing dim sum…read more * * * Vancouver and Richmond have so many extraordinary dim sum restaurants that the various "Best Of" Lists identify a huge number of potential "Best Dim Sum in Vancouver" candidates. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of them. Dim Sum in Vancouver is simply on a higher level. * * * The largest concentration of utterly amazing places are in Richmond rather than Vancouver itself ... Although Vancouver has hundreds and hundreds of places to die for. So to say Richmond offers better choices than Vancouver is something you have to experience yourself to understand. If this place were in my home city, Austin, or even in San Francisco, there would be lines out the door. It is a smallish place with an overwhelmingly Chinese older clientele. When we were there, the World Cup Final was on with Spain playing Argentina. Half the tables - generally men - were watching. You can add noodles or rice, and we went with fried rice. There are also optional add on sauces: truffle or salted egg yolk. The rice was so good and was a very generous portion. The lobster was also cooked perfectly. We also got a scallop, morel, asparagus stir fry, which was a nice and light dish, also generously portioned.
