Very good steak, the deep fried baked potato was off the hook!!! The service I give a 2.......myself as well as many others eating at the bar were often times ignored while some of my fellow bar mates got vociferous I understood it was very busy that night, however the waiters/waitress' could at least tell us they would be with us in a minute and not ignore us until we said something. Visited this place in Reno NV. Read the review and scan through the menu before visiting. The place was a quarter full, was brought to the worst table in the establishment. We choose to seat in their best table. I worked in Restaurant business before. Order a sampler appetizer, I ordered a bone in ribeye steak with two French onion soup for sides. My wife order the chicken and ribs With a side order of French fry and butter broccoli. Please do not order the butter broccoli cause it was terrible. Love the French onion soup though. Your price of the meal was appropriate. The service however needed major improvement. The food was 4 1/2 stars the service was 1 star, overall only a two star restaurant. The only reason why I could come up with being offer the worst table was because we were the only Asian couple in the Restaurant. Need to learn how to service all people in Reno. Las Vegas it's booming because they knows how to treat all people the same. A lesson Reno has to learn to be profitable. No reason to visit this restaurant again. read more

This place has amazing food! I wasn't able to finish my steak at dinner so I took it home and it reheated amazingly it was the same amount of cooked as when I first ate it. The environment is a little loud but we had a really awesome server! I definitely want to go back soon read more

Unbelievable that a chef at a steakhouse doesn't know how to properly cook a steak!! We had dinner here last night because they had reasonable, though certainly not cheap!, prices for steaks. We were staying at the Peppermill across the street where similar steaks were offered for double the price. So we figured we'd try here. Big mistake! My husband and I both ordered the NY steak, which are usually juicy and well marbled. We both ordered them medium rare which should be nice and pink in the middle, a fairly common way to prepare them. My husband's steak came out appropriately done but incredibly chewy - likely from a cheap feedlot where the animals were highly stressed. My steak was also chewy but not a bit of pink, so very dry. No taste, so I showed the waitress who agreed it wasn't done correctly. She took it back and I waited for the second try. Out came a steak that was now basically steak tartare! So red it turned my stomach, and the gorgonzola that was supposed to be melted on top (which I had ordered as an extra) was NOT melted and chunky. I decided not to send it back because I figured it was likely that the chef would spit on it. So I ate a few bites from the edges and the sides I had ordered. On the only plus side: their warm soft bread is absolutely delicious and helped to fill me. I complained to the manager about our experience. All he did was take 5% off the bill. We will not be back to this restaurant, that's for sure! read more

This was an interesting place to visit, not our usual type. It's across the street from the peppermill so it was convenient. FYI the reservation line is actually just a call ahead to put your name on a list. The food was ok, the drinks were ok, the service was pretty good, and the atmosphere was fun. I am picky about my steak. I like my prime rib to basically still be mooing at me from the plate. I strongly expressed this to the waiter and he told me he would tell the chef to cook it medium rare. I was suspicious and pushed my point and he assured me it'd be fine. My husband ordered the gorgonzola new york and prefers his medium. They came out pretty much backwards. Mine was a bit tough and cooked to much, while hubby's was the pink I wanted. My martini that I ordered with extra extra olive juice had barely any, but the alcohol was strong, so I rationalized that. I normally would ask them to re-cook food but we were in a time crunch. We did order the appetizer sampler (I know we're a bunch of fatty's) with the onion, shrimp, and parmesan bread. Holy cow it's a lot of food. Plus they serve bread complimentary. We ended up sharing our app with the neighboring table because we couldn't possibly eat everything. I probably will try out somewhere else next time, but hey at least our bill wasn't bad. read more

Wow. What a disappointment. I had overheard some of the other Reno Air Races media photographers talking about this place as a great place to hang out and have an excellent steak dinner. That's what I get for eavesdropping! We arrived and there were no tables available--so what do you do? Head for the bar, right? The barkeep had no clue how to make my drink, a Rye Manhattan. It's an easy drink to screw up so I have learned. If the barkeep even hesitates at the request, it's time to ask for a Stella. Halfway through our beers we were told our table was ready. Great. We picked up our drinks and readied ourselves to follow our hostess--but wait. Need to settle up for our drinks first. That's okay, I said. Just put it on the dinner bill. The hostess then explained that it's a real hassle for the bartender to do it that way. Really? Well, it's a hassle for me to have to pay twice and I'm the customer. Well, then I got the evil eye. Not wanting to debate or have someone later in the evening sabotage our dinner, I decided to go with the wise words of Obi Wan when he said "this one's not worth it" and I paid the bar bill. I've only been to one other restaurant in my life that makes you settle the bar bill before going to your table and I think it may have been a Denny's. I don't want to seem picayune, and believe me, if that had been the only problem I would have let it go at that--but it gets better. So the heap of lettuce they called a salad? It was just lettuce with two pieces of onion. Oh yeah--and no salad dressing. So, no big--flag down the waitress. Good luck with that. She's off in another section talking about her due date and how all the smells at the restaurant want to make her heave--a story we had the pleasure of hearing about four times that night. Eventually the salad dressing comes. Wheee. Have you ever had one of the waitresses or waiters who loves to come to your table constantly asking how everything is but never listens first to see if there's a conversation? Well this was our waitress. I know you're "doing your job" but the impact of your apparent concern for our gastronomic well-being gets diminished when you constantly interrupt our conversation. Don't DO that. It's rude. Listen first--then say "excuse me." Din't yo mama teach you no manners? Instead, you are kind of like a cop--always there when you're not needed and never in sight when needed. So, along those "not around when needed" lines ... when you brought the steak you didn't stick around to hear that I'd like some steak sauce. I managed to flag down a busboy who brought me a bottle ... that took five minutes and that bottle was, you guessed it, empty. By the time I got another one it was about seven or eight more minutes and well, my medium rare rib-eye which was cooked more like medium-well was now room temperature. Room temperature, over-salted, and about half of it was fat. I mean at that point it was pretty disgusting. Yes, I know rib-eyes are, by nature, fatty. This was simply a cheap (and thin) piece of meat. Would you feed that to your other kids? Now, to make us feel really special, I thoroughly enjoyed when someone came through our enclave with one of those roller vacuum cleansers. Hey, yo, I'm eating here! Not only do I not want to hear or see that when I am trying to digest the indigestible but it's unsanitary and kicks all kinds of crap up into the air, which then lands on my over-salted, over-cooked, over-fatty, and rather thin cheap piece of meat. In any case, it's nice to know we count--and we were, quite literally counted. As we were sitting trying to get in a little relaxation during what was so far a rapidly deteriorating experience, I see a blonde woman poke her head into our enclave (basically a section off the main floor with four or five booths in a square-ish configuration). She's poking her head in, while pointing at each person in the enclave with the back of her pen and her lips are moving ... good lord, she's counting. At Ruby River it's about quantity, not quality. Let's get out of here ... except I need the bill. Five minutes of trying to get someone's attention finally produces ... nothing. After waiting a few more minutes we got up and headed for the hostess stand and tried to pay there. "Oh, your server is your cashier." Oh, no she isn't. She's off talking to someone about how she wants to puke because she's pregnant and works around dead cows. Finally the waitress showed up in the entryway and took my credit card. When she returned she said "Just leave it on the shelf when you're done," turned, and walked-away. Not worth my time or my money. I will never return. Dining out is about the food, the service, and the ambiance. This place has none of the above. I suggest you find yourself a nice casino prime rib for $5.99 somewhere. At least then you will be getting what you pay for. This place is a joke. An expensive and annoying joke. read more

I have been here numerous times over the years and this place is a solid 3.5 star for me...nothing seriously stands out for me. They do start off every meal with the pail of peanuts which is a nice start and I would have to say the best menu options are to stick to the steak. I have tried to venture off the steak menu a few times and have always been sort of disappointed. Last weeks example was just another case of this...ordered the BBQ salmon and even though I asked for it to not be over cooked and more medium rare it came out like tree bark. It was also swimming in there BBQ sauce which was good because it needed to have some moisture added to it. This just was plain disappointing and really would leave me thinking twice about returning probably only for steak. read more

So let me start by saying that I didn't order steak, and my visit might have been very different if I had. Friend and Husband both had ribeyes, and they couldn't stop moaning and groaning about how good they were. Meanwhile, I was picking over a mediocre piece of salmon wondering who thought it was a good idea to put BBQ sauce on fish. My sides weren't a whole lot better: potatoes au gratin were so oily I couldn't eat them, so Husband took pity on me and traded out his mashed potatoes, which weren't so great either. Sauteed mushrooms were adequate, and I was left wondering why on earth they deep-fry a yam. Overall, I was just completely underwhelmed. I also don't care for the atmosphere, which made me feel like I was forced into a really bad country western video. Service? Not much better. For the prices one pays here, I expected a much higher standard all around. read more

Went here for my husband and I's wedding anniversary because we were told by family it's one of the best places to get a steak. We were greeted and sat promptly. Our waitress was very friendly and quick with getting us our drinks. I ordered the top sirloin with coconut shrimp with a jacked sweet potato and a garden salad. my husband ordered the bacon wrapped pepper crusted sirloin with mushrooms and rice pilaf. I got the garden salad pretty quick and was a great good portion. When our entries came out everything looked great but the taste by far was deceiving. I ordered my steak medium and was way over well and tasted like nothing and the coconut shrimp though decent size were tough and lacked any flavor. The best part of my meal was the yam by far the best thing. My husband ordered his steak medium and it came our medium on the sides and extra rare in the center there was also a cut in the center of the steak where you could tell the cook was trying to check how done it was. His mushrooms were tough and the rice tasted like it was straight from the box. We had our baby with us so we ordered dessert to go. I ordered the cheesecake brûlée with raspberry sauce and my husband the apple crisp. We paid and we were on our way home. We got home and I wanted to peak at our dessert for later. It looked like a joke.. my cheesecake literally had 2 spots where they tried to brûlée the top and gave up. The apple crisp was straight from the fridge not warmed or anything. We ended up having to cook it for 45 min to cook the apples throughout. The best thing about the dessert was the ice cream with the raspberry sauce that was suppose to be used for the cheesecake. After we were home about 30 min both our stomach started to turn and felt super nauseous. I will not be back..only giving them 2 stars since the service was great. read more

Ok, read mixed reviews online. Girlfriend and I went for dinner. They told us 10 minute wait and it ended up being quicker. Good flow of people in there and was really picking up when we left. Food was decent. I had a platter and chose coconut shrimp, wings, and avocado steak egg rolls. Girlfriend had the coconut shrimp entree. Everything was good. The avocado steak egg rolls were good but not as good as the avocado egg rolls at BJs Brewhouse. The coconut shrimp were better than I expected. Not as good as my step dads homemade ones but werent disappointing. Decent food, not great but not bad. But the place needs a makeover! Booth seats are cracking and the stuffing is coming out. Carpet is very worn out in spots and looks dirty. Ambiance could be better. Needs a more modern appeal to it. Will come back but not in any hurry to do so. read more

We should have read the reviews on Yelp before going here. We were a party of 10. Made reservations at 7:30pm on a Wednesday. 40 minutes later, we still had no drinks on the table. The waitress, very nice, very courteous, and clearly extremely busy. She was very apologetic for not bringing the drinks earlier. I finally asked her if she is receiving any help at all with a large party of our size or doing everything all by herself. She said she has only been here for 2 months and clearly wasn't receiving much help from rest of staff. We finally asked her if this is an indication of how long it is going to take to get our drinks and the food will take just as long, we are ready to walk out of the restaurant. She then moved quickly and things started to move. Drinks finally arrived, she took our order, received our salads and appetizers at an expected time frame for a party of our size. Dinner arrived, yippee all except 1 plate (which apparently was forgotten). By the time, our guest received his dinner, everyone was half way through their meal. We asked for another round of drinks. Bartender decided to move faster this time around. Overall, although the meal was nice, and our server was VERY nice and working her tail off to get our food, we were extremely disappointed in the rest of the staff. Considering that this was a client dinner that was tailored around services, we couldn't help but notice that the rest of the staff (5-6 folks) was shooting the breeze while our server clearly could use a helping hand. No manager to be found, sad. Needless to say, from the reviews, its hit or miss with the staff. And next time I'm in town, we're not coming back to this restaurant ever. We were grateful for our waitress, but sad that her peers could barely lift a finger to help her. The busboy was working his tail off too! read more

Oh my Gosh there is a reason this Steak House is #1 !!! My fillet mignon was amazing! You could cut it with a fork!!! My husbands New York was packed full of flavor!!! Steak had too much salt and pepper. Totally took away from the taste of meat. They got my order wrong. Instead of Gorgonzola new York steak they gave me the delmonic, which was $12 more! The service was slow, took the waitress 15 min each time to check in. After I brought up the wrong charge on the check, it took her another 15min to get the manager. Fortunately they adjusted the check. But I don't think that I'm coming back or recommending the place. read more

I used to go eat here every Monday for 4 years. Service and food were great. Last month I walked in to order to-go for my mommy's birthday who passed away. I paid $150 to wait an hour and a half. After an hour I told the bartender I was going to have a smoke and he said"you don't have your food yet!" No I don't, he said I'll buy your beer.Don't get me started on how rude your hostess are. Fast forward to today. I ordered to go over the phone at 6:55. Drove from Spanish Springs. Went in, my order was ready, checked it and it was wrong. I ordered shrimp skewers and got steak skewers. No biggie. The hostess went to correct it. Ok. I waited in the lobby for over 30 minutes. Tomorrow is my mom's death anniversary. I specifically ordered food from Ruby River because there food is good and a luxury. I paid $160 this time for good food but horrible service. The manager tried to comp me. I do not want a comp. I want better service from the company. I spent over $300 in 2 visits. Do better. I will not be coming back to this restaurant ever while ch makes me sad because I have spent a lot of money there and have turned a lot of friends onto you. read more

i would def go back here. the staff is friendly, the prices are super reasonable and the food is great. i got the salmon. love the bbq sauce with it. the salmon was moist and tasty. the mushrooms are tasty, the mash potatoes are killer, and the rice pilaf is tasty enough to eat alone- i love good rice pilaf. the ribs are fall off the bone and the others in my party vouched for the prime rib. go hungry. read more

On August 30, 2018, up on a recommendation from someone from our hotel (The Peppermill), we decided to go. Having had a great meal and service at Bimini Steakhouse, we were not aware of the nightmare ahead. Our server was a young, perky person but should consider another career. Our food came almost an hour after sitting down, cold, missing mashed potatoes (they never came), getting mushrooms when the order was mashed potatoes, which she took away and came back with an order of more mushrooms. I drove up from the bay area just to eat at this restaurant. yeah it's a long drive. I used to work at a Ruby River in Utah and it was my favorite restaurant. I was hoping for the same quality from the food at the Reno location. My prime rib was supposed to be medium rare, and it was cooked more medium well and it was cold. how does that happen? My potato was cold too. The yam was really the only warm thing on my plate. Bummer. They usually heat there plates before they put the food on it. guess they didn't heat it enough this time. this could be a great restaurant, they just need to step up their game. read more

My waiter Lonnie D was more interested in socializing with waiter staff and trying to crack someone's back than to check back and see how my meal was and refill beverage. First off let me say that the service here is great. The staff is attentive and helpful and seem to have the customers best interest in place. So for service they should get five stars. But that's basically where the good ends and the rest begins. The food is underwhelming and from what I saw inconsistent. My steak which I ordered medium came out medium on the outside medium rare on the first half inside and rare almost uncooked in the middle. That tells me that whoever is cooking had no idea what to do. They had also cut into my steak to check it and it was still under cooked. My wife's steak was ordered medium as well and the only pink we found was when we cut it up and fed it to our dog at home. Hers was dry and had no flavor at all. I'd keep going but there isn't much more to say positive, my opinion, look for somewhere else for a good steak dinner. read more

Wow, what a meal. They start you off with fresh and hot sourdough french round. Can't go wrong with that. Wedge salad and green salad were good. I got the gorgonzolla crusted new york steak and man was it jammin'. I really think it was the best steak I have ever had in a restaurant. It was a good size, seasoned and cooked perfectly and just hit the spot. My niece got the mac - n- cheese. It had chicken chunks in it. It was creamy and a little smokey too with breadcrumbs on the top. Really good. My mom and dad both got the ribeye. I had a bite and man was that the bomb too!! Seasoned perfectly and great grilling. A lot of steakhouses serve steaks with mediocre sear and NO seasoning. They ruin good meat by not treating it right. Ruby River knows how to put out phenomenal steaks. Now they serve a "jacket" baked potato and sweet potato. I had never seen anything like that before. The sweet potato had a cinnamon butter in it and it looks like the whole sweet potato is dipped in a tempura batter and deep fried. The crust is huge and it was cinnamony too. I bet the baked potato was bombdiggity too but nobody got one at my table for me to try. I do have to say the potato looks like a whole days worth of fat so you might want to skip that, split it, or get it without the jacket...unless you are a twig, then dive in :) Only thing I didn't like was their asparagus. I was trying to be reasonably healthy so instead of a potato I got asparagus. I was hoping it would be grilled. A little olive oil and seasoning then grilled and the asparagus would have been really great. As is, they just put some cooked asparagus on my plate. No seasoning, no flavor, nothing.... Only letdown though so if that is all I have to complain about I am sticking with the 5 star rating. Go eat there. You won't be disappointed. read more

Nice little steakhouse in the smallest big town in America. The hostess took us to our table and served peanut with shells, it was fun. Steaks were good, moist, tender and cooked just as we wanted medium rare. They have good sides and nice selection of wine. Our server Ceaser was great, friendly and attentive. Pretty reliable steaks. It's casual which is nice though it can be a little loud... particularly near the bar. We always get the Rib Eye since it seems to be the most reliable. Their food isn't very salty which is nice. The best part, though, is that when I ask for a rare steak it comes out rare. We were up for Hot August Nights, so of course this place was slammed. We had a 30 minute wait for a table. We ordered app tray with steak egg rolls, wings and poppers. The egg rolls were disappointing, usually they are my fav. This batch had hardly any steak and grease pooled in the last bite. However, the wings were the best I have had in a long time and the poppers were great. I ordered a 6oz sirloin and shrimp skewers, added the crab topping. The steak was cooked perfectly, could have cut it with my fork. The crab topping had a very fishy flavor which was thankfully drowned out by garlic butter. My bf ordered a 6oz fillet and ribs. The steak was good, the ribs tasted like greasy pork. The sides are always generous and good. I had broccoli & asparagus. He had mixed green salad and rice pilaf, skip the pilaf. We always have so much food left, we take home a second meal. Our dinner was $75, save your receipt because there is a free app coupon on it which will take $8 off your next visit. We go about once a year and happened to be there the day my coupon would have expired. ha! oh and our server was great, she kept my iced tea full and kept us updated on the slowdown with our app plate.
