Visiting for Mardi Gras, it was one of those hungover from the night before breakfast. We were able to sit at the bar as it wasn't a wait for our party of two. Food- 9/10! Ruby Slipper is probably my favorite brunch spot in the areas. We came on a Sunday Morning and it was PACKED. I highly recommend adding yourself on the waitlist, check in at the restaurant about 30min before your time is up, and you should be seated within 30min. I added a table to the waitlist for two at around 9:30 am, checked in at 11am, and was seated by 11:15am! Overall, food is fantastic. Amazing flavor and not too salty. The only downside was the food was cold when we're received it. It was probably sitting for a while. Pride Seasonal Mimosa Flight: What a fun flight to try! This place is super popular and is a bit chaotic to get into/on the waiting list. We put our name on the list and had about a 30 minute wait. We were seated in the bar and the place was buzzing so we were excited to enjoy the food drinks. Unfortunately it took about 20 minutes for someone to come to take our order and then another 25 for the food to be delivered. My food (I had the shrimp bene and fried chicken bene) was just alright. The shrimp wasn't very good but the chicken was ok. My partner had the biscuits and gravy with fried chicken and his came out cold. They did kindly remove his item from the bill. We wouldn't recommend this restaurant but if you are planning on going maybe try to go at a quiet time where they aren't quite so busy. read more

This was my first time trying a Ruby Slipper cafe and I was extremely impressed! The food was fantastic and well worth the wait (which was about an hour and a half but there is a wait list). The service was friendly and fast and the food was incredible! The biscuits were light and fluffy and the gravy well seasoned. Definitely chose the optional side of sweet hot fried chicken! My mother in law got the breakfast tacos which are one of the best breakfast foods I have ever eaten. An amazing chipotle esk sauce on top of fresh ingredients and your choice of meat. Arriving at 0630 in the morning we were hungry and wanted a breakfast spot after our flight. This looked to be the highest rated place in the surrounding NOLA area near our hotel. I read lines can be long, we arrived about 10 minutes before they opened and avoided the line. Staff was very friendly and checked on us frequently. We both ordered a mimosa and they're pretty large (mega pint worthy for Johnny Depp). Good champagne and juice ratio as well. I ordered the sweet heat chicken and French toast bites. I wish I could've gotten more because this food was so tasty. I was stuffed by the end of the meal and still wanting more. The flavors were on point and we left very satisfied. This is a poppin' place! We ended up opting for bar seating since it was open and we didn't wanna wait for over 1 hr to be seated. Sometimes bar seating is just as good since you get quicker service with staff right there. The menu is extensive, not only food but drinks too. They have mimosa flight that is all different colors and looks like a good time. I only had one (meeting the fam and didn't wanna act a fool haha). The grits here was the best I've had on the entire trip. They put their foot in that! My ultimate favorite part was that I can mix and match benedicts! My friend and I came for brunch Tuesday morning around 11:30. Before coming, we added ourselves to the list online before leaving our airbnb and got a text about 40 min later to check in with the hostess. We got to the restaurant maybe 10 minutes after we got the text. After checking in, we were seated within minutes at the bar. They have indoor and outdoor seating both, including a small parklet. The menu selection is pretty standard for brunch, with omelettes, benedicts (what they're really known for), shrimp and grits, etc. I like that they mark their signature items with a little slipper to make ordering easier. I went with the Three Little Pigs Omelette ($13.50). My friend ordered their Peacemaker ($16) with one Eggs Cochon and one Chicken St. Charles, and we shared the Bananas Fosters Pain Perdu ($13). Each omelette comes with a biscuit and a side or either grits, fries or fruit, so I chose fruit since we were also getting the french toast. I was very underwhelmed by my omelette, which sadly is one of the worst I've had in a long time. It didn't have as much meat as I was expecting (some bits were just egg and no meat). Plus it was overcooked and dripping in butter / oil. Doesn't make me feel good about eating it. My friend enjoyed her benedicts a lot more, especially the Eggs Cochon. I tried a bite of the pulled pork and I have to agree; it was super tender and flavorful. I understand why this benedict is one of the most popular items here. According to my friend, the chicken benedict was also good, but lacked flavor, especially compared to the pulled pork. We liked the banana foster pain perdu as well. It wasn't too sweet, and the banana slices and raisins went well with the bread. We drove and saw mostly street parking nearby, though there were some lots. Super super lazy, incompetent service here. There's a wait to be seated and then even more of a wait for the food. If you're on a time constraint, definitely avoid this spot. Unfortunately, it was extra worse for me as the lady next to me ordered the same time as me but got her food, finished eating it, paid and left before I even got my food. It was kind of sad as she left and turned to me to say "hope you enjoy your food when you finally get it." Anyways, when my dish finally arrived, I indulged. The chicken was drizzled in a hot honey sauce that was yummy. As for the French toast bites, some pieces were soft while some were hard. It got a bit too overwhelming and sweet overall. We came on a Saturday morning and there was quite the line out the door. I overheard other people who walked by and was told that the wait would be roughly 1-2 hours at 9:30 am. Luckily for us I was on the waitlist via the Yelp app 45 min prior to and we were staying at a hotel that was a 4 min walk away. We waited roughly 15-20 min prior to getting seated. We were seated at the end of the outdoor seating area overlooking the street, which was perfect because I had my 2 young kids with me. We ordered right away because we knew what we wanted. They had high chairs for the little kids. Chocolate milk is only $1.50 for the kids, which was surprising to me. The wait for food took some time though, at least 25-30 min or so, but they were really busy. I was just excited that the timing for everything prior went so smoothly. I had the shrimp and grits which were so delightful and flavorful. I scraped up every last bite. My kids shared the bananas foster pancake, which was awesome ! Perhaps a bit too sweet for the kids, but it was definitely doing back flips in my mouth. My husband had the peacemaker with the crawfish and grits and the hot smoked salmon. The crawfish and grits were on point, however I wasn't a fan of the overcooked salmon. Overall a great experience and definitely family friendly, just remember to sign up for the online waiting list. And FYI, if it says 30 -60 min wait, it means it's roughly 30-60 min from when you initially signed up online, not 30-60 min after you arrive, but they won't call you until you check in at the front within that time frame. We sat at the bar but we're taken care of so well! I'm so impressed with bar servers because they take care of multiple people and the staff at Rubys killed it! The place is really loud because it does hold a big amount of people but the vibe is nice for brunch with friends or loved ones. Now the food! PLEASE PLEASE GET THE BEIGNETS! Everyone raves about this spot so I gave it a go. I knew there'd be a wait so I added my name to the list and said I would take the bar. I was told 20-30mins. Almost 40 came and name not called nor a text on my phone. So I approached and then got seated, they had a few open seats. So I was admittedly annoyed. I really wanted the vanilla spicy chai but the milk is premade so I was not able to get it with a milk alternative. Sad. They were able to substitute the bacon for fruit since I do not eat meat, which was nice. I ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes and grabbed these famous biscuits. I had an interesting view of the kitchen from my seat at the end of the bar, near the trash. I have to tell you, I saw way too many people touching noses and picking up plates. It's a busy spot with a nice vibe so and it all works like a well oiled machine ... well, unless you're a party of one. The people next to me with much harder orders for their food first after I ordered before them. The cinnamon roll pancakes didn't taste much like a cinnamon roll. A simple "hi I'll be with you shortly" would have sufficed. I was there closer to closing so the restaurant was clearing out. It came with this incredible remoulade that just made the dish. The breading on the green tomatoes was fabulous. I got the stuffed French toast. It had this lemon custard and blueberry filling that was to die for. So creamy, so good. The presentation was cute with the whipped cream and Mardi Gras colored sprinkles.
