We will definitely be coming back to Rubys slipper. This place was great. It was packed out at 11 am and hot so we had a little wait but we got a couple of drinks while we waited. I got the Ruby mimosa and my husband got the boozy iced coffee. Let me tell you they don't skip on the alcohol. I got the trifecta eggs Benedict and it was DELICIOUS, my favorite was the chicken st. Charles one. So savory with crisp chicken and the perfect poached egg on top of a buttermilk biscuit. Excellent experience at Ruby Slipper! We had a large party and they accommodated our many changes smoothly and fairly. There was a long line outside but the Yelp waitlist was a definite good idea! I also had two eggs over hard. I was sat at the bar because I was a party of one and pleasantly got to meet a movie star who happened to be in town (he was in the Wedding Singer!). I came at the recommendation of a coworker & arrived at around 11:40am on a Monday. I did not expect to be greeted to a full house on a weekday so that speaks to just how popular this place is. Definitely be prepared to wait (outdoors in the humidity too) because Ruby's gets easily packed. This is not the kind of environment you expect to eat brunch in silence because there is a lot of chatter and movement all around you, which can be overwhelming if you don't like the noise. I was put on the waitlist for about 15min before being seated at the large bar roundtable at 12pm. Service was super friendly & efficient. There's plenty of traditional breakfast foods and cajun foods to choose from the menu. I went with the fried green tomatoes, which were fried perfectly crisp and paired nicely with the shrimp & grits. The latter was a bit too salty for my tastebuds but still yummy. The Nola-style iced coffee with vanilla syrup was sooo good that I ended up getting it for takeout too. Overall, this was a great first meal on my first day in the city & would recommend for visitors looking to have brunch in the heart of New Orleans. Oooh...talk about yum-o!! The line on a Sunday is around an hour wait, but so worth it!! I opted for a simple omelet with cheese grits and a biscuit. I also tried the Ruby Mimosa, which was outstanding. Our waitress convinced us to get the Peach Bellini to go. The Bellini didn't make it out the door...it was so good that I drank it all waiting on the opportunity to ask for the check. I got another! My, was our waitress amazing! Our family took a trip NOLA last week and this Ruby Slipper location was right across the street from our hotel, so we ate there a couple of times. It did not disappoint. Their bennies are delicious. I had the bayou shrimp and the eggs blackstone mix & match, and they were both fantastic. My husband had the biscuits & gravy with the sweet heat chicken on the side, and he really enjoyed it- got it every time we went! I tried the Migas on our second visit. That was well-priced, tasty, and very filling. My young daughters were a little disappointed with the limited kids' menu (and none of us would recommend the biscuit slider- dry & boring), but they absolutely loved the French toast bites. My teenage daughter was a little disappointed with her avocado salmon toast, as the salmon was hot-smoked to the point of maybe overcooked & a little dry instead of the usual smoked salmon she expected, but she also found other items she liked much better (ahem, French toast bites again), and I thought the avocado toast was good, so maybe it just wasn't what she was looking for that morning. Ultimately, we all found things we liked, we found the prices reasonable for the area of NOLA we were in, and the service was always quick and super friendly. The restaurant is pretty small and most of the seating is bar seating but I can promise you, the food is worth it! I love that you can pick and choose two different Benny's! They even have a triple Benny that let's you try three different kinds. (All were delicious!!) I got the fish of the day - catfish and it was cooked perfectly, though I did not love the grit cakes, I rather have had regular grits. My husband got the hot honey chicken and it was phenomenal. The real MVP was the french toast bites. Wow these were good - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a dip that had the perfect ration of butter, syrup and sugar. So good! We arrived about 11:30 and we were able to get a seat at the bar at 12:30 so not a bad wait for a Saturday. The bar is very clean and spacious meaning our food wasn't crowded up like you'd expect with bar seating. It also has nice warm lighting. The service was fast and friendly. Also, they offer drinks during the wait which was really nice. We got the fried green tomatoes but they ran out of bacon onion jam which I think makes the flavor because without it...well...at least it was crispy? Just add salt if they run out. I got a vanilla latte which is just like any other vanilla latte but it's hot outside and it was good. I got the trifecta and I'm glad I did. The chocon Benedict was really good...the meat was tender and had a nice flavor and the chicken st charles was good too in that the chicken wasn't dry at all. The Bayou benedict is bland when you compare it to the others but it is still good. The tomato sauce isn't sour. The chicken and the chocon are a little salty but I could just take a bite of the bayou to kind of even it out. Came back here after having lived in New Orleans 10 years ago. Boy, have they changed, and not for the better We had to wait for about 30 minutes to be seated. They seated us on the parking strip, next to the dusty road with city traffic. It turned out they no longer serve the Ruben sandwich that we came for, the "seasonal specials" mentioned didn't exist. After ordering we waited for another 30 minutes before our food arrived, and the salmon had the pepper that we explicitly asked to not put on. Then the final bill had egg surcharges that we weren't told about when we ordered. All in all, a major disappointment. The Ruby Slipper that we once knew and loved is no more :( read more

This place is definitely worth a wait! First off, this spot has a very thick menu! Be sure to look it over before coming because you can take it in so many different directions. I opted for the trifecta (taste of ruby) which had 3 half's of their famous signature benedicts. Firstly, wow- what an incredible option! I love the versatility. Second- these were so delicious and filling but please be smarter than I was and split this with someone else. It is SO much food. Not only that, it is so much decadent, rich food. We also tried some of the pig candy bacon bites (um, yum!), seasonal beignets (skip this), and one of the best unique pancakes I've ever had. I give you: the White Chocolate Bread Pudding Pancake. Wow. A mouthful, literally. This sweet pancake could turn the saltiest of people sweet. Our awesome server recommended this and I thank him for it!! It was a flavor bomb in my mouth. Speaking of servers- ours, David, was incredible. I was really having a bad start to the morning and he totally turned my day around. We added our names on the waitlist and once our name was called, the staff literally waited 1 second to move onto the next person on the list as if it was role call because there were people blocking the entrance for us to make our way up and our name ended up getting removed from the waitlist. I get that it's busy but at least have the courtesy to make sure a second time if the party is there or not. 6-7 other parties ended up in front of us and we didn't even get our requested indoor seating. We stopped on a Tuesday. The wait wasn't long but it did take quite a bit of time to get our food once we ordered. It was ok though, we weren't in a hurry. Our server was very apologetic and kind. The food was good, but sorry, I wouldn't say great for the price we paid. 2 mimosas, one Bloody Mary (my favorite part of the breakfast), and two entrees were $75, which is a bit much for breakfast in my opinion. (The biscuits and gravy was our friend's meal. He said it was really good.) my boyfriend had the sweet heat chicken and French toast bits, he loved it. I had the pick two Benedict. I choose the eggs blackstone and the bayou shrimp. I had high hopes for the shrimp, but I actually liked the eggs blackstone better. It was had more of the breakfast taste. As we all walked outside, I noticed my wife has this tar like dirt around her sneakers, and that's when we noticed we all had this dirt like tar on our sneakers from the DIRTY FLOORS in this place.
