The waitress was nice and offered some suggestions off the menu, she said the benny was most popular so I went with it. There is an option to mix and get two different kinda but I stuck with the original. My friend ordered the one with the fried chicken. As soon as I cut into my eggs they were overcooked. I waited for a while and got the attention of another server and she was nice and offered me two new eggs. By the time I got my eggs my food was already a little cold. In my opinion I've had better Eggs Benedict and wouldn't order these again. I would add more sauce to them as well. I took a bite of my friends chicken one and it was ok, did not love them either. (Everyone wants to try) the staff was pretty accommodating when we actually got in, but after we placed our order, we waited 45 minutes for our food. I think the server forgot it at the window. Unfortunately, because of that, it was only mildly warm when it got to us, but we were starving. The food, if fresh, would have been DELICIOUS. We asked a dozen questions and he was for very polite in answering all of them for us. We ordered a Orange Mimosa and Peach Bellini along with fried green tomatoes, side of corn beef hash, and BBQ shrimp and grits. Oh my goodness, those fried green tomatoes were out of this world! They were top with Lettuce, tomatoes, fresh bacon bits, and their special sauce! I can't even begin to tell you how fabulous they were. My husband had the bbq shrimp and grits and said the flavor was savory and absolutely devine. The biscuit was super light and not dry or dense. My family were visiting new orleans and we came across this high rating brunch place on Yelp - so we decided to try! Ruby Slipper Cafe is very popular among tourists and the queue can be pretty long despite waitlisting on the app. I think we waited a total of 1.5 hours to get seats of 4. We talked to our server and she said normally the wait time would be an average of 3 hours. So be prepared to waitlist and walk around the area before getting seated! What I like about this brunch place is that they mixed in the southern american culture to the brunch menu! Such as crawfish, grit cake, fried chicken, bayou shrimp and many more. We ordered the Bennies (egg benedicts) which is what they are famous for. We picked the Peacemakers so we get a mix and match of any two of their benedicts. Very worth it I would say, because you can get to try the different kind of benedicts they have in their menu. So we were definitely really excited. Bayou Shrimp: Tasted really delicious, and very flavorful of the sauteed pork and their tomato. Buttermilk biscuit at the bottom was not too hard nor too soft. And their hollandaise is of perfect consistency. Smoked Salmon: you can never go wrong with any smoked salmon benedicts. Delicious salty salmon but really well executed. Eggs Cochon: This is also one of their most popular egg benedict. Texture of the pork is like shredded pork, slightly sweet but not overly. We enjoyed this very much. For dessert, of course you have to go with their banana foster pain perdu. Thats their specialty and they nailed it well. I love every part of the banana foster. My only concern personally is that I'm not a big fan of raisins and they put a lot on it. But thats ok because I can set that aside. Ambiance is great, the place can be a little stuffy because it is crowded and definitely loud. Possibly family friendly because I see many families coming here but just be prepared to wait longer for the table. Service is nice, we got a nice server. Food comes really quick. You didn't have to wait until you got to the lace to put your name down and you will wait. It was extremely busy and although I was there on vacation, it seems like a place that is regularly bumping with customers. We waited about only 5 minutes before our name was called and got seated inside. 5* Breakfast Specialties: The Trifecta has 3 different types of benedicts with a poached egg & on biscuit halves 1. Chicken st Charles: juicy fried chicken breast topped with a pork Tasso cream sauce 2. Eggs Cochon: Apple-braised tender pulled pork with a lemony hollandais 3. This place is busy! The first time we tried to eat here we had to leave the wait was too long and they said they had a back up in the kitchen. The second time we got ourselves on the Yelp wait list which said and hour and ten minutes but it was an hour and forty minutes. Once we got seated we were attended to quickly as I am sure they wanted to flip the table as they had plenty more people waiting outside. So it went from long slow wait to rush, rush, rush. We ordered a Chicken Sammie, biscuits n gravy and pancakes. We all enjoyed our food and we did get plenty of refills but not sure I would need to do this again. I had brunch before I left to go to the airport, and Ruby Slippers did not disappoint. It's a breakfast/brunch spot and they close at 2pm, so I wasn't surprised when I arrived at 9am, and the line was down the block. If you go online you can check into the que to see how long your wait will be. It's not a reservation, but it's something similar. Once you arrive, let the hostess know you are there or you will be bumped from your place in the que. There's plenty of seating inside, and outside. Although the line was long, it moved pretty quickly. People were eating & leaving. I was on the for no more than 10 minutes before being seated. I was seated at the bar which is pretty spacious. The bartenders were great, and took my order quickly. The food was great despite some of the negative reviews I read. The food was delicious. If you're looking for a good brunch spot, this is it!
