1 1/2* but I'll round down This was some of the worst pizza I've had in a while. Reasons: 1. Pizza was too doughy/chewy. My jaw was sore, no joke. 2. Where's the sauce? Way too little sauce on our pie. The sauce that was actually on there was extremely bland. 3. Oil factor. A layer of oil on top of your pizza is never appetizing. Napkin blotting was in full effect. And yes this is a big deal to me because I don't have to do this with other great NY slices that I've had. A little oil is OK, a layer of it is not OK in my book. 4. Came to town to visit some family and my brother in law insisted on taking me to two places and one was Sals. It was exactly what you would think New York style pizza is like. Nice large pie, good size slices, perfect to fold and enjoy. Good flavor on the sauce, perfect amount of cheese and the staff was super nice and friendly. A place with neon in the front window that reads- Sicilian Slices - is serious about what matters! The rectangular goodness that is so great they're are no pieces without at least some edge. That said -- don't turn your back on their other offerings including salads, wedges and dinners. Honestly the regular slices are the least best thing ive ever had at Sal's. Also of note is that they're open nice and late (til midnight or later most nights) -- as well as being just a few hundred feet from Metro North Commuter Railroad's Mamaroneck station - and steps from the Westchester Country Bee-Line system 60 and 61 buses. As you can see -- convenient and delicious. The only down-side being that it's a tad expensive ($3.50 a slice), and cash only.....but they have an ATM inside! read more

So if you're looking for delicious food a sit down with the family or just to take out Sal's pizzeria in Mamaroneck is the place to go. Sals pizzeria is a great little pizzeria in the heart of Mamaroneck. Located right on Mamaroneck Ave., this place is easy to get to and has a nice seating area. Their Sicilian slice is out of this world. If this was all they had, I'd give them five stars. I opted to get two specialty slices as well, one chicken with veggies and one buffalo chicken. These slices were okay. The buffalo chicken was pretty good but the other slice was just eh. I don't know why I don't just stick to the Sicilian slice. The staff is friendly enough, but not over the top friendly. If you go to Sal's, stick with the Sicilian slice and you're golden. Can't go wrong here. One of the easiest meals to have is some good traditional pizza and Sal's does just that. I'm a big fan of mushrooms on my pizza and theirs is spot-on. Sal's has been in it's current location for a long as I can remember, and it has always been famous for it's Sicilian pizza. The regular pizza is pretty standard, but the Sicilian is a cheesy wonder. For more than 50 years the crust has consistently been crunchy on the bottom, perfectly chewy in the middle, and topped with a thick layer of mozzarella. My only suggestion here is don't get this pizza with a date... as the amount of garlic on it will definitely ward off the vampires!
