We had a last minute change of plans due to thunder storm and decided to eat at Salt, our first time, since it was close to us. We had walked by it on a previous evening and saw the busy back patio. The hostess greeted us and we were sat at a table on the back wall with soft cushy chairs. The inside was nearly full. The waiter greeted us, explained a few menu items and took our drink order from the fun drink menu, which included several nonalcoholic cocktails. He did not write anything down. He stopped at his various other tables and interacted. He returned a bit later asking us to remind him what we had ordered for drinks. He was frazzled and explained that their computer system was misfunctioning and it had "lost" his checks. We ordered an eggplant lasagna appetizer special. The drinks finally arrived and shortly thereafter the generous portion of eggplant. It was absolutely delicious, possibly the most delicious eggplant i have ever had. Others stopped by the table clearing plates and refilling water. The server visited the various tables around us and we heard him telling all of them what a night he had had with the computer issue as we waited for him to take our order. We finally ordered, the fish tacos and the watermelon feta salad with grouper. We wondered why there were so many others, clearing tables, running food, hostessing, manager, but he appeared to be the only waiter who seemed overwhelmed by his number of tables. Finally someone arrived with food and it was a plate of grouper and I said that I had ordered the salad to which the waiter said he would bring me a side salad. I said no, that this was not our food and they realized it belonged to the table next to us, who had arrived after us, but had ordered before us. We continued to wait for our food and the frazzled waiter was seen at the computer station even more frazzled. I went up to him and told him that if he had not ordered our food that we wanted to cancel it because it was now very late, had been a long wait. We asked if we could get the check. While we were waiting the manager came over to offer to cook something for us very fast and we passed. He told us about their computer issue and to ask for him in the future and he would make it right. He told us that there was no bill for the starter. We left a $20 tip for the frazzled waiter. The food, what we had, was wonderful. The menu was interesting. The seating was comfortable. The service was a disaster. I am sure a lot of it was related to the computer issue, but I suspect that the server would be better writing down orders and having less tables. They just opened two months ago and I hope they do well. read more

We were visiting from out of town and stopped in at Salt Bar and Table for a drink and appetizer before our dinner reservation. Let me tell you... we were so close to cancelling our other reservation to do a full dinner here. The food was unbelievable. We got the ceviche and Parmesan truffle fries with crab. The crab is an additional charge but I highly recommend adding it to the truffle fries. The drinks were just an added bonus. I got the Bitter & Sweet and Old Fashioned No. 1 and truly couldn't pick a favorite. My fiancé got the Old Fashioned No. 2 and he loved it as well. We sat on the back patio, which was a little chilly. However, our waiter Tyler, offered to bring me a blanket so we were still able to enjoy the Florida air on our last night of the trip. We were lucky enough to witness the transformation of SALT from the first day and returned again and again! The food is deliciously prepared by Chef Robert . We had the shrimp cocktail served in a copper bowl filled with ice chips and the clam chowder which is another beautiful presentation ! Dinner was fresh grouper and divine Brussels sprouts with bacon, YUM! The bar has the enchanting Holly making craft cocktails and a bourbon drip decanter for their special Manhattans. Head of the house Stefan and Tom welcome the diners to this new incredible spot on Anna Maria Island. The vibe is fresh and classy. We will be regulars when we are in town! SALT Bar and Table exceeded our expectations by offering a dynamic menu and a warm greeting to our reservation. Our server Dan was very helpful in describing menu items and really seemed to enjoy his job and the restaurant. The courses were spaced with precision timing so that we could enjoy and digest them before the next came while maintaining a timely delivery. NOTHING HAD BEEN UNDER A HEAT LAMP AND IT WAS SO FRESH! Chef Rob has perfected seasoning and flavor combinations in a way that feels traditional but never overpowering allowing subtle changes to be tasted with each bite. Our first night on Anna Marie island and we haven't received our golf cart so we had to walk somewhere to eat and this was the closest restaurant to us so we chose this. It was around 6 pm and we didn't make reservations so we had to sit at the bar. Probably was fate because we got exceptional service. We got peel and eat shrimp they weee good but the cocktail sauce they make and it was amazing. Our salad's were fresh and good, my wife and I chose the blackened grouper I chose green beans as a side and my wife had the roasted vegetables. Our food was very good then we finished our meal off with key lime pie and it was great!! This is a very nice restaurant. My wife and I just flew into town so we had T shirts on and shorts and sandals. We didn't check the dress code but people were dressed nicer than us be we didn't feel out of place. Drinks are $20 a cocktail, wine glasses were pricey and if you order a martini they charge extra for the olives AND to put it in a Martini glass ($8 for both on top of vodka cost made it a $22 vodka martini ). These upcharges were not mentioned at time of order or listed any where on menu. The edamame dumplings were bland and not good, several of the appetizers did not come out remotely as described. There were only like 6 entrees on the menu and 3 were sandwiches or a taco. Pretty interior but not super functional. Velvet chairs will get mucked up by eaters, the chairs were not that comfortable (they squeezed). If the prices were more in line for food and beverage I would consider returning once they work out the menu kinks. read more
