This was a first for me. I have never had Shabu Shabu before. If you're not familiar with this, it's where they boil a pot of water or broth on your table in front of you, and you cook the food yourself. I got the New York rib eye, it is thinly sliced and it was really tasty. I only had water, no broth to cook with. It was a little bland on its own, even after adding garlic and jalapeños. I like my food a bit more flavorful on its own, but I guess the nature of this is seasoning it yourself. They don't serve any alcohol which seemed a bit odd, considering they have signs posted that say "no alcohol will be served to persons under 21" which fully implies that there would be alcohol on the menu, but no sake or beer here. The staff speaks very little English, but it's all good! Still a fun place to enjoy an interesting and ethnic dinner with a friend or two. read more

This place is a little gem hidden in Thai Town. The lady that works here is so sweet & very quick to get you what you need at the table. They only have two broth options here, but honestly, it's all you need. They're very good. They give you large slices of prime ribeye beef, which usually are pretty small at other shabu shabu places. The meat is tender & not stringy. The seafood option is also good, with shrimp, squid, white fish, & A LOTTTTTT of scallops. I personally didn't think the seafood was as good as the ribeye, but it was still good. If you come here make sure to check in to get your free roll! Brought my family here, first time doing shabu shabu. Price for 6 was just above $100, very reasonable. I liked the darker liquid we cooked the meal in. Veggies seemed fresh. My wife did not care for her Tonkotsu ramen and barely ate it; very turned off by the cream base. Sushi was decent. The chicken had a terrible consistency was all ground together and similar to dog food. The waiters were very polite and attentive. They basically stood in the corner waiting for our needs. We were the only family in the restaurant for about 80% of our stay, during what I would expect to be peak hours. Sadly, we did not enjoy the food enough to desire to return. Unfortunately we were fooled into thinking the place would exceed our expectations by the high star reviews. read more

My friend from Arizona who is obsessed with Shabu Shabu got me hooked on it, and now I'm hopelessly obsessed. Every time she visits, it's not hard to figure out what to do. So we try various Shabu Shabu places...and it's sort of like dating. So far I like ShaBuShi the best because it's really comfortable in there, and their food tastes very fresh and flavorful. Nice big comfy booths. Eccentric Asian music playing in the background but it doesn't overpower the room or drown out your conversation. And they have a parking lot, usually with a few empty spaces available. It's not glamorous but nicely decorated with a traditional "mom and pop" vibe. read more

A good option for Shabu Shabu. Veggies in the sukiyaki broth are tasty and they provide garlic and green onions which add to it be flavor. Ribeye large is good for two. It's a decent value compared to the all you can eat places. Have not tried sushi yet. read more

Heads up - come here for the shabu, NOT THE SUSHI. I think I probably would've gave this place five stars, had it not been for me ordering the sushi. It was just not good. I came here with three other people and none of us enjoyed the sushi. On the brighter side, the shabu was great! Ordered the pork and tofu. I can't remember the broth that we ordered, but it was the one that's sweet. The broth was super flavorful and the quality of the meat was great. I do wish that the vegetable/noodle platter came with more noodles because the noodles are probably enough for just one person. Not too big of a deal, you can always order extra noodles. The service was very, very friendly and made sure to always refill our waters when they were getting empty. I'd say the price was pretty good for the quality. Parking seems pretty sparse, but we didn't have a problem with it since we came here kind of late at night on a week day. Now back to the sushi... just don't do it. I don't know what it was, but it just tasted off. Not in a disgusting way or anything, but the flavors just did not go together.
